I remember I came home from school one day and my mum had bought me this book in particular for getting a good report card. I was so excited. I raced up to my room and read it in a night. This is the book series that inspired me to aim to be an investigative journalist. Weird, I know. However, this mouse series inspired me so much. I wanted to be a reporter. I wanted to work for a newspaper. I'm currently studying to do so as well. This book gave me a realistic career aspiration bar being a princess (any royals want to marry me???? please???)

Basically, if you have any young kids in your life get them to read this. This series has a spark of mystery in each book. My cousin was reading these last time I saw her and I've never been so happy, she was so excited to discuss the books with me (very important since she has a speech impediment). This wacky mouse and his friends were an escape for me as a child.

XD

I didn't think the story was that good because of the very sarcastic "oh! , I forgot that I haven't introduced myself yet!" I don't like that part because there is NO reson of why you would read one of the books if haven't read the first one yet. The first book has a more detailed introduction.

The Geronimo Stilton series follows the eponymous Geronimo, a nervous, mild-mannered, talking mouse who lives in New Mouse City on Mouse Island, where he is a journalist and newspaper editor. In this adventure, a ghost is rumored to haunt the city’s subway tunnels, and so Geronimo goes off in pursuit of the scoop for the front pages of The Rodent’s Gazette. Spooks turn to frights as the ghost is revealed to be none other than a cat—or is it? Though technically a chapter book, The Phantom of the Subway may be considered a picture book for its abundance of zany typography, with its frequent use of nontraditional fonts and colors used to highlight how Geronimo is feeling in a particular moment, as well as the illustrations of the characters on every other page. With this form of visual literacy, children will never be bored as they follow along in Geronimo’s pursuit to solve the mystery of the phantom of the subway. Highly recommended.

Miss 5 listened to this by audiobook and enjoyed it so much that she asked for another. (After we listened to all of the audiobook Geronimo Stilton's that we could borrow, we started buying and borrowing the physical books; it helped that she was already very familiar with the characters and their quirks).

Miss 5 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

I love how dynamic the book cover is! Geronimo and his family go on an adventure to find out if there really is a cat in the subway. Turns out that it’s just the professor who had built a cat robot and used cat noises to ward off unwanted visitors to his secret lab. I predicted that there was no cat but just thought that a secret lab is not realistically possibly in our world. Oh well. On to the next book.

P.S. There was no Benjamin in this book. I’m guessing it was too dangerous of a mission to include him.

I was only introduced to these books the other day by a friend I have in America 🇺🇸, I have never heard of these before now and I listened on YouTube ... the Narration was so well done and also very fun with all the different voices done giving the story more life.

This was such a fun read and I am going to tell my friend's little one about these books to get for her child & I suggest this for all kids and believe they will love it 😀.

Definitely will be reading more 😊

Both of my kids have been reading this series and can't seem to put them down. This is the first one that I have gotten to after both of them told me I have to read them. This was a very cute read and very entertaining. I see why my kids like these so much. I would highly recommend these books to young readers.

I have thoughts:

1) Professor Von Volt is an absolute menace. You're telling me he's the canonical planner of the entire city's subway system? I have growing suspicions he may be immortal.

2) The great cat war has been going on since at least the middle ages. This means it's likely a hundred year's war situation. Which is nuts?

3) cat apartheid lore gets weirder and weirder

When I read all the story it, all made sense. There really isn't a cat in the subway it is just the professor. He didn't want anyone to find his secret lab so he made sound effects and shadows that is like a cat
