A famous orcish actor, is about to drop a bombshell of hot gossip. While running the interview circuit for his television mainstay, the late-night host John Morgan shifted off the agreed to line of questioning, resulting in Mahlthulak Vertorkag letting slip some swoon-worthy gossip about his secret longing for his co-star Julia Montano.
Unfortunately for Mhalthulak, Julia is the show's next guest and has heard every word.
He needs to finish this interview in a professional manner, but the orchestrations of the talk show make that a difficult task -- especially when the crowd starts to loudly demand a reenactment of the series finale’s steamy kiss. Surviving Hell is an 11k Novella
Hiii~ My name is Jenn and I write books about Monsters and their partners. Mostly orcs, but I'm trying to branch out and write about other creatures. My stories tend to be on the fluffy side, but there are a few outliers! Hopefully, you'll enjoy one of my book boyfriends as much as I do.
Look at that cover! An orc with glasses and a manbun? How could I resist!
Surviving Hell by @jenn.howlett.author is a cute Orc story with an interesting premises. I got some reel Keanu Reeves x Sandra Bullock vibes from it. They both had a crush on each other while shooting Speed and the interviews are so cute.
Anyway I digress, I loved the characters but I did not like the omniscient narrator. Narrating style and POV is a personal preference, and this one I just never like. I did feel like with the narrating style that I almost missed the orgasm of both of them... I legit had to reread the sex scene to figure out who was feeling what, but I enjoyed the sex scene so no worries in reading it twice.
I will definitely read the next thing she will publish!
I absolutely devoured this story. This was adorable and super sexy. Jenn created such a strong story in such a short amount of time with two loveable characters Mahlthulak and Julia. Mat is just the most courteous of Orcs and he is so sweet. Julia is a ray of sunshine. The spice between the two... Absolutely delicious 😋 my only complaint would be that it ended too soon 🥰
Short and sweet! I loved all the details about the world and the show. And MAT *swoon* I really hope they stay together, I love it when actors whose characters fall in love get together IRL 🥰
I absolutely devoured this little short story! The premise is so unique with the talk show, I just wish it had been longer!
For a short story, it’s really good. Sometimes short stories can feel too rushed or too short, but this one I feel hit the mark. Just viewing it as a short story, it had the perfect amount of plot and steam to make it a good read, without it feeling like an insta-lust. The two mains chapters were introduced in such a vivid way, that it made me really really want a fuller length version of this short story. The main characters had so much personality for a 45 page story.
All in all, I had a blast reading this. I actually forgot this was a smutty book until it happened because I was too distracted by the talk show. But it was a pleasant surprise! Not too steamy, but passable for the short length of the book. And did I mention I want a fuller length of this book? Because that’s how good of a short story this was for me!
I will first off admit to reading for free first. Then brought this and another by this author. It is about an Orc actor who now that his tv show has finished, is doing a talk show. He's asked about his character, what he's going to do in the future. The host asks him about his co star and he reveals his feelings to all. Turns out she is also there. It's fun and sweet with sum after show, behind locked door, fun.
This book follows orc actor Mahlthulak Vetoekag otherwise known as Mat and his co-star Julia as they are interviewed on the John Morgan Show in front of a live audience. This book is very unique and I throughly enjoyed it. Short and sweet at only 47 pages long I was surprised it included so much world building and details. This is a must read in my opinion for any orc or monster romance lover out there.
Famous orcish actor Mahlthulak Vertorkag and his leading lady actress Julia Montano's story of two people having feels for each other but keeping it secret until something happen. I enjoyed reading their spicy well written story. This is a new Author to me and I want to read more by her. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A sweet short story that works as the perfect comfort read for fans of monster romance, especially orc lovers 😀 I enjoyed the modern-day setting with the MMC working in the film industry, that was such a fresh idea! The story may be short but it sucks you in and makes you care for Mat in no time. It was steamy too 😉
This was a short and set story with a little bit of spice! I really enjoyed it! The characters were so loveable. The story line was something that I've never read before, but enjoyed!
This was a cute, unique paranormal romance! This was a story where the romantic build up between the MMC and FMC happened "off screen" - and the opening scene in the novella is catching up the reader with Mat (the orc's) and Julia (the human's) and how they go forward.
This is JH's 2nd book. I really liked the premise and the execution of the talk show interview.
Short stories are hit or miss for me, as sometimes the characters can feel disjointed - it breaks up the flow of the story a bit for me. This was one of those short stories I enjoyed but felt like a teaser. I really hope JH goes back and writes a full-length novel with these characters and their lives working on this TV series.
This quick, medium-heat read is perfect for a lunch break read. I'll definitely be checking out this author's other work. ^_^
