I love Rachel’s fantasy writing and was so happy when I heard she was venturing to writing it again. Her star-crossed series is one of my favorites.
Fallon is the star of this book. She is an interesting character still trying to find out where she belongs in her vampire world, and trying not to stir up any more trouble. But trouble finds her in a witch named Evren. I’m pretty sure this boy is loads of trouble but I haven’t quite figured him out.
Blood Spell is full of some mystery and romance, intrigue and mayhem. I look forward to the next book!

I’m not sure I will ever be able to not read a book written by this author. She always gives us some twists and turns that make you wanna know what happens next. While this does take place in a high school setting and the characters are 16 she does give us a little spice. I felt like it had a little mix of Wednesday (the tv show) and the authors normal writing style that I love. Pretty good for the first book in the series…can’t wait to read the next.

Recently read a review that said it is fun to read books more for pleasure and off the beaten path. I absolutely loved Rachel higginson 's writing in her chef romances and wanted to give this one a try! Absolutely loved it! Steamy tension, great banter and love the setting and plot! Honestly can't wait for book #2

The building of a new series can be tricky. I'm not all in as I normally am with all of Rachel's books but I'm intrigued and will definitely pick up the next in the series. Also this I believe is the most spicy book Rachel has written and 😏 I love that for me

I cant tell you enough how much I love these characters. It’s such a refreshing take on vampire v. Witches. I love the whole hierarchy and political dynamic. The enemies to something like lovers theme is fire. Just love it, all of it.

Witches, vampires, other sups, boarding school, paranormal politics, and a bratty MC. Thought it would be fun for the spooky season, but is an entry to a potential series that I’m not sure I’ll follow.

Good YA book, but goddamnit, as a Romanian, the insistence to introduce 'vampires from Romania’ in books with vampires to make it more 'grounded’ always rubs me the wrong way:

"Ms. Fallon, you look so healthy,” she said in her thick Transylvanian accent. Her ancestors were said to be one of the oldest vampire families in Romania. She’d been with my family for a very long time. And even though my father had offered to pay for her to retire many times, she insisted she was happy in our home. “You are bright today, shining.”
