ONE copy of this Collectible First-Edition ... The True Work of the Holy Spirit 🕊️ From the ‘Grace to You' 'Know Your Bible' Series 📖 29-Page Booklet by John MacArthur, Softcover (8" x 5").
The church today desparately need to rediscover the true person and work of the Holy Spirit. The third member of the Trinity has been grossly misrepresented, insulted, and grieved by a counterfeit movement that is being propagated in His name. Much of the Holy Spirit's divine majesty. While charismatics treat Him like an impersonal force of ecstatic energy, evangelicals have generally reduced Him to the caricature of a peaceful dove, often portrayed on bumper stickers. That's not to say the image of a dove is wholly inappropriate -- it is, after all, how the Spirit is depicted in Scripture (Matthew 3:16). In this concise booklet, John MacArthur pushes past the counterfeits and caricature to rediscover what Scripture teaches us about The True Work of the Holy Spirit See picture of back cover for more information. What does the Holy Spirit do, according to the Bible? This short work by preacher and Pastor John MacArthur answers this question. I know for some the thought of MacArthur’s view of the Holy Spirit might make one cautious, but I think all theological spectrum would appreciate this work. Honestly I think there’s a lot here that all sides would agree on when it comes to the content found in this work. It is part of Grace to You’s “Know your Bible series” of short booklets based upon John MacArthur’s teaching.
MacArthur opens this booklet with an introduction about the danger of counterfeit currency and transitions this to the danger of counterfeiting the work of God. I thought it was interesting and never knew before that in some past society the making of currency is the prerogative of only royalty. In the next section the author discusses about recovering the Holy Spirit that lays the foundation with a biblical understanding of the Holy Spirit before the main body of the book would go over the six aspects of the Spirit’s work in salvation. Beginning with the Holy Spirit convicting unbelievers of sin, the work of the Spirit continues for believers including the Spirit’s work of regeneration, the Spirit bringing sinners to repentance and the Spirit enabling believers to have fellowship with God. The indwelling, sealing and filling of the Spirit is also covered in this book in addition to the human responsibility of walking by the Spirit and rejoicing in the Spirit. Reading this made me worship the Holy Spirit!
I thought this is great for young believers as well as for the mature believers. I found this a great devotional read too as a pastor and Bible teacher and that’s because the subject of the Spirit’s work is not just academic; we should have a devotional and worshipful spiritual delight on this topic! I read this to love the Spirit more. I do recommend this book and want to read more in this series.
