This is super easy to pick up and jump into! An excellent beginning place for teachers who are unsure how to lead intervention for students who are still learning to decode. It is ~one page lesson starters that follow a scope and sequence.
Excellent program. It was very easy to pick up and understand how to use it. I love the incorporation of phonemic awareness with blending and segmenting that students have to do. I used it in an RSP setting with students and groups of students at multiple reading levels. It was very easy to tailor to their individual levels even within the same groups.
As a reading specialist, I found this an excellent way to help struggling readers; it uses the Orton-Gillingham method. This manual give a teacher step-by-step instructions that will help you use multi-sensory techniques when introducing new sounds, etc.
I read the (rather dry, but informative) introduction, which describes the theory behind the Recipe for Reading program, and skimmed the rest of the book. It looks like a good resource for working with young readers and writers.
