Racing to Love - Carter's Treasure

Rate this book
From the outside, Molly West had everything, beauty, brains, and a career she'd retired from not once, but twice. Being in the limelight and in a sport that was male driven, she was often surrounded by men. She ignored first the boys, and as she got older, the men. Her cold shoulder and patented not a chance in hell look were usually enough to get her point across. Molly had no plans in changing what was a perfectly good system. That is until she walked into the pits. Carter Sterling had traveled the racing circuit since he was a boy. He'd heard all the old standbys, She's out there somewhere, love comes along when you least expect it. Good things come to those that... Yeah, he'd heard them all. The last place he expected to meet the love of his life was on a pro track. All she did was smile, and he knew, looking into her sapphire blue eyes, Molly West was his. Forever. If it was only that easy. From the moment he laid eyes on her, he had a gripping feeling in him. An overwhelming need to protect her-a girl he'd just met. Carter had learned a long time ago that gut feelings are almost never wrong. Molly now held his heart in her hands, but it was going to take a lot more than just love to protect her from the past she thought she'd buried a long time ago.

My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

Disclaimers: I received an electronic copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review as part of the blog tour. I did not receive any compensation for writing this review nor was I obligated to write a good review. The tour host may have been compensated for her time, but I was not.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I started this novel thoroughly intrigued by the premise of the novel and knew I had to read this one. I wasn't disappointed.

Gregory's novel was brilliantly crafted and thoroughly enjoyable. I was hooked from the very first page until the very end. I loved the writing style and the characters. The prose was beautiful to say the least.

Gregory has a book on her hands that left me captivated. The only thing I noticed about this book was how fast the romance developed. I know several readers who get insanely bugged by fast-developing romances.

However, I am usually not bugged by fast-developing romances. So while it might have seemed slightly unrealistic for them to move so fast, the novel made up for that.

She even addressed the fast-paced romance and developed circumstances to make it work. So honestly, I don't think that the fast-paced romance is a flaw. Instead, I think it was an intriguing choice on the author's part.

A novel that was beautiful, compelling, and oh so addicting.

In Summary: Gregory's romance novel Racing to Love is everything it should be: tantalizing, compelling, and oh so intriguing. This novel is definitely one that I loved reading about. From the moment I met Carter and Molly, I knew this was bound to be a great read. Gregory did not disappoint.

Warnings: Definitely for adults. This romance contains multiple sexual references and scenes. While Gregory's descriptions aren't detailed or graphic, they are definitely more in line with an adult audience. It leaves less to the imagination than young adult novels do.

Strong language in several instances. Not overbearing, but language is there.

The Wrap-up: Definitely an intriguing read. I did not expect to like this one as much as I did. But Gregory is a masterful storyteller and drew me in from the get-go. Romance fans will love this one.

Love,

OMG I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THIS BOOK!!! This is an absolute wonderful story and a must read for anyone that loves strong woman leads and adorable caring male leads to match. This is one of those time where I wish I could meet the characters in this book (supporting characters included). Molly is wonderful, witty and funny. While Carter is sweet, loving, caring and protecting. Loved the relationship between Molly and Brody and how close they are and consider each other best friends (reminds me of me and my bro) Adorable book and a must read for anyone looking for a wonderful read that has you reading all hours of the night to see what comes next. Defiantly will recommend to my book loving friends :D

Full review (and an excerpt) can be found here.

I’m going to be honest here: I had a hard time even getting going with this story.

First of all, even as it starts the two characters go against what the synopsis led me to expect of them, specifically Molly. For a woman abused in her youth, with trust issues and no time of day for men, it just didn’t feel natural to me when she immediately welcomed Carter’s physical advances. They were just little things, like laying his hand on her thigh, but it all felt as though it moved far, far too fast. I know it was supposed to be a whirlwind romance but the result of this is that I was not invested in the relationship between the two characters. I missed out on build up of feelings and consequently I wasn’t as interested in the outcome of their relationship as I would have preferred to be. I could have done with an additional 50 pages or so of Molly learning to be more open to the possibilities that Carter is offering her.

Second, the book is written in the third person but in a POV that has access to the characters’ innermost thoughts rather than just observing actions. The POV jumps between characters from one paragraph to the next with nothing to show that such a jump has taken place. Towards the beginning of the book I found it hard to keep up with the seemingly random jumps.

Once I’d actually got into the story, things started to improve for me. But as I eased into the style, I become more aware of the fact that there’s actually very little plot to it at all. Everything focuses on the relationship, but there’s never any doubt about the outcome there so you’re more reading to see their relationship than to watch them overcome the obstacles in their way. This said, there are an awful lot of romance books out there where you see this sort of thing. It’s just that I usually prefer mine with a more substantial plot around the romance itself.

Admittedly there is an attempt at an external threat when Molly starts receiving threatening letters. Unfortunately, this isn’t really explored to the full potential that it presented. All things considered, it resolved far too quickly and easily; the perpetrator’s reasoning isn’t really gone into beyond scratching the surface enough to establish a reason; and other characters’ involvement – however unwilling – isn’t even touched on.

This is balanced by Molly slowly learning to stand on her own two feet and make her own decisions outside of the supportive network that her adoptive family had set up for her when she came to them. She had to let go of the past in order to fully embrace her future. I vastly enjoyed this part of the story! Seeing her stand up to people who claim to have her best interests at heart (but are not listening to her when she tells them that this is what she wants) inspired a feel-good feeling that lasted throughout the rest of the novel.

Carter was possibly a little too on the perfect side, but again this is something you see a lot so I’m willing to overlook it.

This was a romance novel through and through. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Molly West was a damaged youth, taken in by James and Karen Norland who continued to work with her in the sport of motocross racing. She had been racing since she was four years old. After her biological mother died, Molly was left at the unmerciless hands of her father, Ray. He physically abused her until the day he actually could've killed her and was sent to prison for attempted murder. That's when she met the Norlands who took her in as one of their own. They were over protective parents to both her and her brother Brody; as they knew what she had gone through and the scars it left. The story was one filled with love for the broken girl and the frailties scarring her soul. Would she ever be able to let a man near her? Was there such a thing as a good man out there? You'll have to read the book to know if Carter Sterling is the one or not.

Ok, the writing was clear and direct. I know more about motocross racing than I expected to now and Amy Gregory did an excellent job in developing her characters. Molly was not depicted as weak in any sense of the word....she was a strong athletic woman and could hold her own in a sport full of men. But she certainly had some baggage from her past. Along with her good looks and her famous career sport, she had attracted a stalker who sent a variety of assorted threatening letters. Molly had a lot to overcome; but she also had a lot of people who loved and cared for her. Her parents, her brother, his girlfriend and her new found friends Carter, Eli and Jesse. You could just love all of them, they were so well rounded. It was delightful sharing their world, even if it was a short ride! Some adult scenes were included, but all in the name of love!

HAWT, SEXY, FUN, MUST READ!

Synopsis...

From the outside, Molly West had everything, beauty, brains, and a career she’d retired from not once, but twice.

He’d heard all the old standbys, She’s out there somewhere, love comes along when you least expect it. Good things come to those that… Yeah, he’d heard them all. The last place he expected to meet the love of his life was on a pro track.

All she did was smile, and he knew, looking into her sapphire blue eyes, Molly West was his. Forever.

If it was only that easy. From the moment he laid eyes on her, he had a gripping feeling in him. An overwhelming need to protect her — a girl he’d just met.

Carter had learned a long time ago that gut feelings are almost never wrong. Molly now held his heart in her hands, but it was going to take a lot more than just love to protect her from the past she thought she’d buried a long time ago.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED this book!! I was captivated from the get go!
Carter is one in a million, and is perfect for Molly. He was patient with her, and wanted only to protect and care for her.

They sure did go through some crazy things, but Carter hung in all the way, never wanting to leave her side.

I highly recommend this book to ANY romance junkie…you will be as excited as I am for the next installment!

Racing to Love - Carter's Treasure is Amy Gregory’s debut novel and is one I will reread many times. The story begins with Molly and Carter meeting and both being hit with something neither expected . . . Love! You get swept up into the lives of these two wonderful people and all the friends and family connected – sadly you also go on the pain-filled roller coaster ride of Molly’s history, both learning of it and living through it’s return.

I loved the fact they are both motocross riders. She’s a famous Motocross, X Games Gold winner and trick rider and since he’s in the same field, they can both understand the needs and reality of each others lives.

The twists are not what I was expecting at first, and even once I thought I’d figured out who the "problem" was, I was still thrown when the "why" was revealed.

Racing to Love - Carter's Treasure is not just another sappy love story, this one has heart, bite, and guy that won’t let anything or anyone stand in the way of his girl.

This is the first of the series and I can’t wait for the next to come out. It’s a book I couldn’t put down, kept me up all night to read, and made me both giggle and cry by the end. If you like a little mystery in your HEA, this is one book you have to read!

Amy Gregory is a new author to me. While I enjoy finding new authors and books, it is always a risk as to whether it will be worth the time and money spent. I have been lucky with a lot of the new authors that I have read lately and my luck still holds true with Amy Gregory.

I really enjoyed Racing to Love. It was such a sweet read with romance, a little suspense, laughter and of course some sexy touching love scenes.

I just loved Carter and how caring, protective and supportive he was with Molly. Molly was the perfect mix of sweet, sassy and vulnerable. They were a perfect match right from the beginning.
It is so nice to read a book where the H/h fell in love at first sight without all the angst and fighting that normally happens between couples as they work their way towards falling in love.
Great set of secondary characters that added so much to the story. I loved Brody and Erin. Oh, and I hope that Mike, Eli and Jesse will get their own books.

Just a really sweet and enjoyable read and I will definitely be looking for more from this author. 4 out of 5 rating.

Molly West is a female in her 20's who has excelled in a sport dominated by males. She holds quite a few titles, and has come out of retirement for a 4-month contract as a motocross trick rider. Escorted and coached by her brother Brody and his girlfriend Erin, she thinks this is just another gig, that is until she looks into the eyes of Carter Sterling, and suddenly her world turns upside down. When Carter sees Molly, he knows there is something about her that is different, something that he desperately wants. There is only one thing standing in his way, Molly's brother Brody Noland. Brody has already warned all the guys at the track that Molly is off limits, but Carter's not about to let that stop him. He knows that Brody is a little "exaggerated" in his need to protect Molly, but what he doesn't yet know is that Molly has a painful and horrid past, and that despite her outer beauty, her past has left her deeply scarred inside. Sheltered for years by her family, Molly knows that there is something about Carter that she can trust, and in spite of her fears and reservations, she is ready to take a chance on love. Despite the obstacles, Carter and Molly are determined to be together, but then danger comes back into her life and she and Carter have to face something a lot more threatening than Brody ever thought about being.

I really liked this book. It is a really sweet love story, with the added element of drama and mystery. Carter Sterling is perfect. I want a Carter for myself. He is super hot, dreamy, sexy, thoughtful, determined, caring and would do anything for Molly. I liked Molly to, and I felt bad for her and all she had to go through in her life. I enjoyed not only seeing the supportive family she had, but the way Carter loved her and was so patient with her. Brody was kind of a jerk, but I understood where he was coming from, even though he carried it too far. There are some really funny secondary characters that were all well written and fun to get to know. Molly and Carter's relationship is one of those love at first sight types with sparks flying and chemistry through the roof from the first glance. They have some emotional moments, and some very sexy and steamy ones also. The book was fast paced and I read it in one sitting. The racing theme was also fun and entertaining and that, combined with the suspense, drama, and some sexy romance, proved this book to be quite an enjoyable read.

Racing to Love - Carter's Treasure by Amy Gregory

This is the author’s debut novel Racing to Love, since I am a fan of romance novels I thought I would check Amy Gregory’s new book. The writing is good, the plot flows well, character descriptions were well written, and Racing To Love was one of those books I just couldn’t put down till I reached the end. The added suspense/mystery in this story held my interest and the budding romance just added to a fantastic story, I definitely would like to read more of Amy Gregory’s writing.

We are introduced to Molly who is famous for her skills in Motor cross racing and trick riding. Molly brother and girlfriend travel with Molly to keep her safe in this man’s sport. Molly life as a young girl was horrific, badly abused by her father she has some major trust issues. Her adoptive family is pretty much the only people she trusts and they are there to keep her safe at all cost even if it’s a bit too much. At her next show we meet Carter who is instantly attracted to Molly and the feeling is mutual. Molly cannot believe how she feels and has no problem letting Carter in her life. The feelings between these two develop fast and you can imagine how it is for both of them. Now Molly has a new man in her life to keep her protected.

Racing for Love not only has romance, the story has some added suspense as someone is trying to hurt Molly and you wonder who it could be. You meet a very protective family and you get to see Molly take back some of her life and stand up for herself.

I really enjoyed Racing to Love and recommend it to anyone who loves young new love with a touch of suspense and mystery. Amy Gregory writing is great and I cannot wait to read more from her. I have rated Racing to Love 4 stars.

Racing To Love~ Carter’s Treasure is just that, a treasure! Amy Gregory’s debut novel seamlessly weaves her love and knowledge of motocross with a sweet love story to melt your heart. Carter hasn’t found the right girl to understand his lifestyle or his need to ride. Molly understands the need to ride, but she hasn’t been interested in finding a man; in fact she has secrets to keep and a brother who helps her keep them. Molly’s first stop on her new tour puts her on a familiar track and face-to-face with something not on her radar, the right man. When Carter sees Molly for the first time he comes face-to-face with something not on his radar, love. Before Molly knows what’s hit her Carter has his hand in her hair and a firm grip on her heart. Before Carter knows what’s hit him Molly has him wound around her little finger and willing to do anything to take her pain away. Carter and Molly’s story is a whirlwind of firsts and Amy expertly introduces you to the other characters and their personalities without distracting you from the real reason you are turning the pages faster than the bikes racing around the track! Don’t look away because the end brings a surprise twist you aren’t expecting and a smile to your heart. With the turn of the last page I was awfully glad I would get a chance to read the next book in the Racing To Love series just to get a glimpse of Carter and Molly again. Amy Gregory and Racing To Love~ Carter’s Treasure gets the coveted red number one plate!

This book was so not what I expected. First off, I didn't think a book about motorcycle racing would do anything for me but the way the characters related to their sport and their love for the sport, made me want to be there watching and hanging out in the pits with them.
Molly struggled in her personal life but was at the top of her game professionally. I found her character to be inspiring. All that she lived through and all that she accomplished was remarkable. I loved this character and it wasn't because I could relate to anything about her, she was just the kind of person you could hang out with and have fun around.
Overprotective brother Brody was interesting. Yes, overprotective of Molly but with good reason. Never letting his guard down while trying to keep her safe... the enters Carter...
Well, if I didn't belive in love at first sight before reading this book, I do now. Carter and Molly are amazing together and have great chemistry. And he is a dream boyfriend for sure. He wants to protect and take care of Molly from the moment he meets her and the two of them just spark.
There is a bit of suspense and drama in this book to keep it interesting but by the end my waterproof mascara wasn't working too well either. This is a great read!

I can honestly say that I loved this book! When I first started reading and I started to get a feel for the book I wasn't really sure if I was going to enjoy it because of all the talk of motorcycle racing which I am not really a fan of so I wasn't really expecting to like it as much as I did but it definitely exceeded my expectations! The plot had so much more than motorcycle racing in it! It development with both characters and also the story as well! I wasn't expecting the plot to go in the direction that it did but I just couldn't stop reading it as it was full of mystery and I really wanted to find out who wanted to hurt Molly! I can honestly say that it wasn't who I was expecting it to be at all! The characters were amazing! I loved their development! Molly was just amazing! I connected with her instantly and I felt so sorry for her what she had been through and also what she went thorough during this book! Carter was like Molly's knight in shining armour! He saved her and made her into a completely different person which I think is an amazing thing for anyone to accomplish! I loved how protective he was of her and how much he loved her as well! Molly and Carter's relationship did develop a bit too quickly at the start of the book but that is the only thing negative thing that I can say about it I am really looking forward to reading the next book in this series and I also love the cover! Big thank you to Amy for providing me with a copy of Carter's Treasure!

This book was reviewed for Musings of a bookworm

I was not sure what expect with this book because I am not much of a sports fan but I found I didn't need to be. The fact the people in the book were athletes was a side issue really, the relationship that grows between Molly and Cater is what takes centre stage. Now I have to admit after reading the short prologue I was hooked, and watching this story unfold was a real pleasure. It was sweet and funny but with a little edge and when that edge got sharp it was fantastic! I did guess who the bad guy was but not why they were doing what they were doing, I am trying really hard here not to add spoilers. This is a romance first and foremost so I really liked that the suspense aspect was dealt with and then we got the rest of the storybook romance between Molly and Cater I really liked that the focus was never taken away from that. I will defiantly be looking out for more by this author as she writes strong characters that are not only believable but sexy hell too!!

This was a great start to a new series. It was a romance that had some mystery and action too.

Molly West knows how to handle a bike. Guys not so much. She's had a rough life and guys make her nervous. That is until Carter Sterling enters the picture. From the beginning they are drawn to each other.

Carter knows almost instantly that this is "THE ONE". He will do whatever he has to in order to prove himself to not only her but her overbearing brother as well.

Things are looking good for Molly and Carter when things get scary. I don't want to give things away by saying what happens.

I really thought Carter was wonderful. He was so understanding and sweet.

I really liked the part with Molly and Erin in the hotel near the end of the book. lol!

I received a copy of Racing to Love in exchange for my honest review.

Sweetly pulse-racing and heart pounding...

The passion builds between Molly and Carter - he's the hero who 'rides' into this sexily-sweet story to rescue the tough, but troubled, Molly. He's a guy who knows what he wants and when he meets Molly the attraction is instant. As Molly's story unfolds it's clear to him that he has to take it slowly or risk losing her; his protective instincts kick in, but can he learn to control his actions and, equally as importantly, his passion?

Curl up and bury yourself in Molly and Carter's world - put your life on hold and your pulse will be racing with them! It's one long, gentle seduction of this beautiful, talented young woman at the top of her career in a male-dominated sport. You find yourself loving a hero who has real heart!

Tough Girl, Hot Guy, Love, Trust, Suspense, Sweet and Caring. This has truly been one of the great reads for this summer.

I warn you this book has an instant connection and follows more of the relationship between two people then giving you a blown out plot to keep on your toes. Although there are bits and pieces of action and suspense this is truly a book for those of a soft heart that are looking to go Awe more then they are looking to hold their breath for the outcome.

Given that this was a very enjoyable read that had some great characters and motorcross (one of my favorite sports to watch). And it shows how you need to stand up for what you want rather then just obey everything you've always been told. You will never reach your dreams if you hide in the past shadows.

This was one of those books you read after you've had a bad day! It's that idealistic romance that you know isn't going to happen to you...but you root for the heroine anyway because she's living out what you've been looking for!

Amy Gregory found a character that isn't jaded, not in the usual sense anyway. It's a refreshing change of pace. Molly isn't some hard nosed woman you need to dig deep into to find the redeeming character in. Carter is just that "good guy" from the start. It's nice to see a story that doesn't work on "fixing" their characters. While that still has it's place....it's just nice to see them fight a common battle....but it's not one of "I'm broken and must be fixed."

It’s love at first sight for Carter when he meets Molly who is a twice retired professional BMX biker. He too is a BMX biker, hanging out with his friends when he first meets Molly. Molly is a beautiful young woman, both inside and out. She has lived with a tragic childhood and is protected by her ‘big brother’ Brody and his girlfriend Erin as well as his parents who took care of her.

As the story unfolds you find out that someone is targeting Molly, leaving her threatening letters. This is a fast paced romance and if you like Motocross and a bit of mystery then you will love this story!

This is a wonderfully written contemporary romance novel. This wasn’t your typical romance book, the author added some flavor with some mystery and suspense! That’s my kind of book!

Want a fast romance that's straight off the blocks? BOOM! There's an immediate connection when Carter Sterling meets Molly West. He's never felt this way before, she's never trusted anyone enough to feel anything and so these two motorcross riders meet and all Hell breaks loose with their emotions. Throw in some sporting comrades, some hate mail and you have a recipe for love on the tracks. Enjoy!

This book was great! I really like how the characters fit and came together when it was necessary in this story. There were some secondary characters that I would have liked to have seen have more meat in the story, but over all it was an awesome story. I look forward to checking out the rest.
