Chase after love? As a single mother, Professor Liberty Sullivan knows better. Between her flighty mother and a disastrous history with men, she's pretty much soured on the whole concept of romance. Personal freedom and self-reliance are her new guiding mantras. Raising her son and being a career star are the most important things now.

Then she meets Seth.

An ex-cop who’s making a new life for himself and his daughter, Seth Webster has every reason to play it safe. Then he meets Liberty. Prickly about love, following some crazy anti-romance curriculum, she still makes Seth's heart pound. And a lifetime of cop instinct tells him he's about to teach Liberty that this romance will be anything but by the book.

Romance is just a problem waiting to happen. When you fall in love, you have to face the consequences of your choice. Libby Sullivan knew all too well what problems happened when you fell in love. Her mother wasn’t complete without a man in her life and the one time, Libby let her heart lead her, she ended up with a son. But Libby is hiding a secret that contradicts her beliefs. She is a steamy romance writer as well as college professor. The author helps pay for the bills while the professor provides her with the stability she longs for.

Seth Webster is a former cop who decides to go back to school to become a lawyer. He’s raising his daughter with the help of his mom after a messy divorce with his ex. Seth believes in true love even though he’s not found it yet and when he sees Libby, lust flares right away. But with the challenges facing these two people, will they be able to find their own happily ever after?

Textbook Romance is a heartwarming tale of two flawed people who find each other. They put their kids first and want to do what is right for them, instead of shuffling them aside for romance. I admire that in a parent. Too many parents are putting their own needs first and it makes me sad for the children. The character of Kelsey was powerfully written. She is a typical teenage girl with hormones that make my nerves go on alert. I twinged at the honesty written in her exchanges with her dad over her mom. There is nothing like the sharp tongue of a teenage girl.

The challenges that Libby and Seth face are real. They are what we all deal with today in our lives…the understanding of what is love vs. lust and how to put our children first especially in a divorce or single parent situation. Textbook Romance hit a chord in me and made me embrace the characters, wishing for their happiness even as I felt all the pain they faced.

The sexual encounters were tender and loving while still being hot. The scene in the drugstore was so funny and if you haven’t ever bought condoms, it is all true! If you love a superbly written tale of two realistic characters who face the challenges of day to day living and still find love a need, you are going to love Textbook Romance.
