Casual Farming 2 - A Quiet Living Slice of Life LitRPG About Farming
Jason Hunter has survived his first year as a farmer. A year has passed in the town of Summer Shandy. The farmstead outside of town isn't quite as rundown as it used to be. The fields still need to be tended, the monsters still need to be handled, and the soil will always need a tilling. That's life. And for Jason Hunter, it's a good one. At least it would be if it wasn't for those out of towners.
An unsatisfying book. Long buildup, then it all just came apart with a bunch of unconvincing, half-assed nonsense. Almost literally ended with a shrug.
At my request I received a copy of this audiobook in order to give a fair and unbiased review

We are back again in Summer Shandy. The guild hall is back and trying to incorporate themselves in society. At the same time new pests are challenging the life of our farmer Jason.
Narrator Ashlinn Romagnoli is a good story teller and I was once again swept away into Jason's life. Overall: 4/5 stars
The book’s strengths. - An engaging set of ever changing challenges. - The characters are growing deeper and more interesting as the series progress - I love how the previous book is tied into this one.
The book’s weaknesses. - I feel that this book had more action than I had hoped. I would love for the series to have even less action/combat.
Overall: 4/5 stars Great continuation of the story. I find myself getting more and more invested in the friends from Summer Shandy.
As good as this book was, it also was incredibly frustrating. Viola pissed me off to no end. How she could believe that Tess and the others were so horrible just because of Leonard. Im sorry. He deserved everything and more. They didnt hurt him on purpose but yet she was so quick to believe the worst. I hate how they forgave her and moved on. It irked me. She allowed so many people to get hurt because of her own selfishness and ignorance. While Blacksuit and Lady Benford are definitely villians, Viola was as bad if not worse in my opinion. She deserves to rot in jail with the rest of them. OK enough ranting about that bitch. I adore Jason and Tess together. I was unsure at the end of the last book if I'd really like them as a couple but they worked. She's still a little off the wall but what woman isn't. Jason is so admirable in what he is willing to do for those he cares about. I loved this book just as much as book one. I wonder what else is going to happen and if the dungeon guild will get their revenge for Tess winning.
I have read all ten of these casual farming: quiet living litrpg… so there is that. I wasn’t ejected from them. That said the flaws make so much of the whole I can’t remember the good. I read mostly on my kindle, which meant with each chapter starting with the date I could compare to the % left in the book and noticed that each season was exactly 25% of the book. To the point that some of the shorter chapters felt like they were just glued in to make the page count line up just so. It’s like listening to someone talk about their Facebook farming camp. There are no stakes, a reset to zero sucks but what can you do. I read a lot of fiction so I saw threads introduced that Never Pay Off but because they came up a couple of books earlier need to be brought up so that they can be left unresolved yet again. I don’t recommend, even for fans of gamelit, as the game is a Facebook click to farm X style game.
Book 2 is much the same as book 1. Jason is farming like always until winter hits, and then he starts renovating his house.
While that's going on some new people move into town. They build a bunch of new buildings, and Tess is furious because she knows they're up to something, even if she can't prove it.
I won't spoil the story or the mystery. Book 2 was slightly less interesting to me because Jason doesn't do anything new with his farm. I'm hoping that changes in book three.
The editing is still poor, and the number of actions he has doesn't really change. Still, I'm going to recommend the series for fans of slice of life who don't mind reading about a farmer. 5/5*
Another great slice of life story by Wolfe and Caliban! Great supporting characters, a little romance, adventure, creative monsters, some fun cooking, and of course farm life. Think Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley written as a Gamelit/LitRPG story. Jason, the MC is fun to read and watch as he learns his new world inside and out. Things are getting a bit out of control on the farm and in town, but our MCs come up with some creative ways to deal with them all. I absolutely love this series! Audio Version: Ashlinn Romagnoli continues to do a great job with the overall narration of the series and with each character.
Audiobook: I enjoyed book 2 of the "Sowing Season" series a lot. Jason Hunter's skills as a farmer have improved, and his farm was doing well. His relationships with the townspeople have grown, and his life was good until some new people moved into town. I enjoyed the characters. I liked the struggles that Jason worked to overcome. I don't know why I find this series so captivating, but I do. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. Ashlinn Romagnoli's narration was entertaining. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.
Will Jason be able to make a go of it as a farmer or will it be to much for him to handle?
When Jason Hunter took over his late uncle's farm it was an a disaster monster's running freely across the front yard in the field's everywhere . Mice living inside the farmhouse in the floors, walls,an the attic . All the rooms full of old furniture and junk . He had his work cut out for himself . And field's to till or hoe seeds to plant water then harvest .Then start all over again plant crop harvest an make enough money to survive on . recommend reading excellent series .
This Rune-Factory like atmosphere is entertaining and pure escapism. I did feel the huge plot twist was not at all believable...there should have been some sort of a hint. It just felt like a betrayal to the reader, and wasn't laid properly. I don't want to spoil the story. The twist at the end for motivation behind the troubles was clever, though. The covers are charming, but don't reflect the story at all. However...I shall read on, and hope for less monsters and troubles in the third sowing season.
Jason is in a good place in his life. The new farm is going well and he is dating a wonderful woman. Monsters are still an annoyance, but there are new ideas to deal with that. The real problem is that the events of last year brought attention to Jason’s sleepy little town.
This cozy litrpg is very comforting. It makes the perfect palette cleanser after an intense book. The stakes are relatively low. This is one of those series that will just give you the warm fuzzies and put a smile on your face! Even better, there are already plenty of books in this series.
As like all GameLit or LitRPG it reads like a video game plays. It easily fits in the Cozy RPG genre.
This one reads like Harvest Moon meets Zelda. It is about Jason Hunter and his farming life and his fairly new romance with Tess. The book manages to add heart warming moments, and some great areas of tension.
From monster hunting to the introduction of a big bad guy.
Those new to the genre have to get used to people “accessing their inventory.”
Loved it. Will have to go read the other books in the series.
After reading the beginning of the series I wanted to wait and read the next book before reviewing.
The story is consistent and very entertaining. Alternately humorous and endearing characters draw you into a story that is hard to put down. The RPG elements add to the uniqueness of the story line without overwhelming it.
Simple living, farming, building up a business, good neighbors, healthy relationships, mystery, small town living, fighting monsters, etc. This book has it all.
It's nice to take a break from real-life drama and read about a character that has values and is a hard worker. The author is amazing at catching the character's emotions through "showing, not telling" and the storyline keeps you guessing.
A bit lighter on the stardew valley feel, but still very close, the protagonist seems to have wisened up a bit and the troubles he faces while perhaps a bit too convenient, I find that it all worked out in a good light days read. Its short though, only took me about five or so hours to read it.
Jason and Tess have obstacles to overcome that cause problems in their relationship. Is their love strong enough to remain together while fighting those who would harm them and the town. I like the intrigue, humor, romance, and action. The heroes are likeable and the villains despicable, though not w.without sympathy. I look forward to the next book.
It’s the second book of a LitRPG. The worst part of this book is the tiny peeks of good ideas coming through and then being pushed aside. I can already tell book 3 will deal with repercussions of this novel which I guess is good but I hated the whole monster plants subplot of this book. I’m undecided on if I’ll read book 3. I’m putting the series on hold for now.
I like slow burn type farming/crafting books, but this is starting to drag a bit. I have other books that I want to read more. Think this series is going on the back burner for awhile. It is ok if you don't have anything else to read, but there is not any real world building by the end of the second book.
I can't wait to see what happens with the characters lives. I'm hoping for a bit of progress on the homestead front.. if you know what I mean 😏 I'm excited to finally know their back stories and can't wait for book 3 to tell it in more juicy details 😋
The MC and some of the main characters are just so...dumb. And emotionally stunted. But descriptions and the slow living was great. I just didn't like the characters.
The first book felt a little stiff to me, though it was a great book. The second book though. Its really coming into its own. The characters and flow felt more natural, and the story had great development. Keep up the good work.👍👍
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was fun and entertaining. The story and characters were interesting and engaging. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. This book and series is definitely worth reading.
I really enjoyed book 2! And no spoilers, I’m really going to dive into book 3. A note for the authors though, Ch.33. For real?! You absolutely killed me, I was torn up for a whole day before I could pick the book back up and keep reading!
More danger puts the town in jeopardy. Some betrayal and suffering that makes the later half of the book painful but it gets better. It’s just a bit too predictable and there is never any doubt “the hero will prevail”
This is a good book. You shouldy read it. I like the story. The characters are fun. The book is a good read. i enjoyed it alot.. Download or buy it today. why not?
