Lacey has always been protected by her family. When one unscrupulous vampire forces the change upon her, her family is met with a new challenge; let her go into this scary new world alone, or join her. They opt to join her in her new life. One by one, her family joins her in this new and sometimes scary life. Lacey finds herself surrounded, more than once, by mystical creatures (the moon elves) that seem determined to kill her and her kind. With the help of her new vampire beau (after all who can resist a handsome vampire?) Lacey learns the skills necessary to fight and protect herself for once. The plot thickens by the sudden discovery of a new brand of creature; a Richian. These half-man, half-wolf creatures set out to destroy not only vampires, but the very beings who brought them here in the first place; the moon elves. Lacey’s clan of vampires agree to help the moon elves hunt down these beasts and remove them from their plane altogether. They agree, until they discover the moon elves betrayal… then watch out because all hell is going to break loose!
This author really had the opportunity to do something special with this story line but completely Destroyed any credibility with me I could not understand why this author put the main characters in situations that were completely ridiculous . I couldn't understand why this author imagination that point anyway I could not finish this book because of laughable situations that didn't make any sense !
This has potential, but it's in desperate need of either a good editor or several decent beta readers. In all honesty, I give this book 2 1/2 stars. MOST of the story line was good. New take on the origin of vampires (no sparkling!) was believable. There were a few plot lines that need tweaked. But what killed this book for me was the redundancy and the editing! I have a pet peeve... people who say "Seen" instead of "Saw". There is a time and place for each of them and they are NOT interchangeable!! "I saw the street lights turn on." is not the same as "I seen the street lights turn on." Spell check can only help you if you misspell a word, but it has no ability to make sure you are using the correct word. Manor is a big home. Manner is the way something is done. Wonder is to think or imagine. Wander is to roam around. I've made so many notes and highlights while reading this book that it became a distraction to WHAT I was reading.
