The Bonding

Rate this book
The Bonding is a love story told from two different sides, based around a young couple in an ordinary world, but with subtle differences. In Lillian Tempest's world there is a hint of magic, not great big spells with pointy witches hats, but delicate magic, enhancing and complimeting their lives. Get lost in Lillian's life, as she turnes 17 and is told she is to marry a stranger because of a ancient prophecy. Hold her hand as she falls in love, almost looses everything, including herself as she grows from a shy, innocent (and to be quite honest, a terrible witch) into powerful, confident Lady. The Bonding is a rare and unique ceremony. Honoured over the centuries.Preformed perhaps only once, in a half a Millennium. A witch and warlock with the power to become a powerful and intrepid force are united.Their souls intertwined, fused together by ancient magic and obsolete knowledge. After a marriage union the couple are branded at the wrist. The design is usually a family crest burned in to the soft flesh, while magic words are chanted. When the brandings are touched, fused for that moment the bonding is complete. Their souls intertwining, flowing into each other, forever and irreversibly joined for all eternity. It is said that the bonded couple will grow aware of each other’s thoughts, share magic and memories. Apart though, they will die. There souls crying out for the other.

The story line wasn't atrocious but the writing definitely was.

Not sure whether it was rushed or just poor but the sentences were poorly structured, some times not even masking any sense and very childlike in places.

There were some grammatical issues in the Kindle download which the author had supposedly sorted out but you couldn't tell.

The only story line critique I'd offer is that there wasn't enough depth between Carne and Lily. They were forced together in marriage without ever meeting and by the end of the night were hopelessly in love. Didn't really work for me.

The whole writing style (for me, personally) ruined what could have been an okay read. I wont be reading the rest of the series.

Sigh. I love this series and this is only book 1!
The story is amazing, but there are a few things that really niggled at me through all this.

First, the spelling mistakes. So many 'there' instead of 'their' and he instead of she and just other little things, drives me mental, and makes me wish I had a copy of the word document so I could do the changes.

Second... where were the commas?! there were hardly any and my god the writing needed them, but despite that I kinda learnt to ignore the fact I wanna red pen the story everywhere.

I loved this, it was just one of those stories that made you "awwww" every so often. It's just a lovely story.

I got this for kindle, I don't know if its available for paperback or anything though, which is a real shame, because I know so many people who just love this sort of thing!

Loved it, truly a magical book :)

A great storyline and I shall read the others in the series straight away but reading the book can be hard work with so many errors in both spelling, punctuation and grammar. The same errors appear all the way through the book so predictive words or spell check has a lot to answer for. If you can get your head around figuring out the word or the sentence the story is actually very good, felt a lot like Bella in Twilight needing and wanting both Jacob and Edward.

Worth a read as given it 4 starts for the story, it would get 2-3 for the punctuation and spelling / use of incorrect words.

Urggggh don't get me started because I will DEFINITELY be put in a worse mood. I am DEFINITELY not going to congratulate her on her spelling because in case she hasn't notice DEFIANTLY and DEFINITELY are DIFFERENT words!!!! This issue got under my skin so much I couldn't even enjoy the book. The idea was good but the writing was atrocious.

This book was really wordy. I found myself skipping whole sections of unneeded writing without worry of getting lost or losing understanding.
