Six dogs, some of which are of various breeds, make up Jessica Anderson's search and rescue pack squad. Jessie and the dogs were doing wildland search tests when they came upon a family of five, consisting of a mother, father, and three children, traveling far into the forest. Jessie deduced that they were unprotected campers. Monday afternoon saw the discovery of a naked, beheaded victim at a garbage disposal site at the northern boundary of Idaho Bitterroot County. This case involves Dr Sol Preston, a criminologist, Landon Reid, the sheriff of Idaho's Bitterroot County, as well as several deputies and lieutenants. There were three missing children and a mother in addition to this case. Due to the canines' distinctive abilities, Jessie and her dogs were invited to participate in the search for the offender. Who will it be? The offender is out there, hidden among other people. Read Troubled Pursuit by D.L. Keur for more details.
The growth of this book has me in amazement. Crime and mystery novels have a certain allure. Because of the genre the novel belongs to, it's very simple for a reader to anticipate suspense in such a book. I think the level of the crime—well, just a little bit—is crucial because it heightens the tension and suspense throughout the narrative. In this instance, the victim was a dead body with severed body parts, including the head and fingers. The nature of the crime piqued my curiosity and made me want to read more. While the crime captured my interest, its severity made me a bit uneasy, as it entailed the butchering of a human being. I am no persecutor, but I will admit that at that point in the reading, I wanted to make sure the offender was identified and punished.
I adore how the crime case was mentioned in the novel at an appropriate early stage. I grew increasingly anxious with each new development in the investigations being conducted by Sheriff Landon, Jessie and her dogs, Dr Sol Preston, and other cops. Each new information discovered during the investigation of the case heightened the sense of tension that was already formed in the reader's mind by the crime introduced in the first chapter. This is not a complaint because I thoroughly enjoyed the reading experience.
I want to express my appreciation for author Keur's writing and narration style. Compared to other fiction works I have read in the past, it is very different. The way Keur described the events and happenings in this novel gave the reader the impression that she is recollecting a past event. How she managed to do it intrigued me. It seemed as though Keur had gathered the characters beforehand and questioned them about their involvement in the case and how they helped to solve it or tried to solve it. Furthermore, her writing approach disguised the Sheriff's harsh demeanor during the investigation; after all, I wouldn't even be upbeat in such a situation. Even the subtle humour in the talks between the characters, including the facial expressions and communication styles of the dogs, was captured in her description. Generally, I loved everything about this book. I couldn't find anything objectionable about this work.
Furthermore, I found no form of errors in this work. So it was exceptionally edited. Therefore, I rate Troubled Pursuit 5 out of 5 stars. Because of the plot progression and conditions in this book, I recommend it to fans of crime and mystery literature.
