Moral Dilemmas #3

Rebuilding My Future

Rate this book
Sometimes, love just isn’t enough. I found my soulmate in my mid-twenties, but life didn’t turn out as we hoped. His love wasn’t strong enough to ride every wave. I have to find myself a new future, somehow. Here I am in my mid-forties, alone and at a crossroads about what kind of woman I want to be. It feels as though every turn I take, I hit a roadblock. Nothing ends how it’s meant to. In recent years, I’ve lost my sister, my best friend, my home, my confidence. I lost me. I’ve dealt with grief and loss in insurmountable measures. Things take a drastic change when someone I despise starts to look appealing―a man I hate. My heart is a traitor to my mind as unexpected feelings build out of nowhere. He’s a known playboy. A man who earned the world and never settled down. This man, now, has his sights set on me. It’s never wise to try to tame the womaniser. Will this not just lead to more heartache for me? Can you really rebuild your future midway through life? I don’t know. Trigger contains adult themes including infertility, grief, and loss.

OMG! I DEVOURED this in one sitting - come to think of it I have done that with all of VR Tennent's books! This is by far my favorite! She is the QUEEN of emotional roller coaters and this book was no exception. Rebuilding My Future has ALL the drama, loss, pain, anger, resentment, broken hearts and healing. This is the third book in the moral dilemmas series and it follows Amy, she has been handed a hard hand and has been faced with one tragedy after another. Her and her husband have drifted because their future plans and dreams dont line up anymore. We see Amy's and Terry's POV and your heart just breaks seeing their perspective of how their marriage falls through the cracks and can no longer hold on because they can't give each other what the other wants. I was SCREAMING and my heart truly broke for Amy.

But Amy is a BADASS and she tries her best to move on from her heartbreak. She works hard at her dreams and her inner strength gives her the drive to keep going. On her path she meets Ivan Harley, a rich, arrogant, womanizer and owner of competing gym - she cant help but be attracted to him but is doesn't change the fact that he was an a**hole, he tried to buy her gym from under her and she cant stand him. Ivan also hates Amy but he finds himself needing a cover and ropes her into a fake relationship to keep a woman he slept with from harassing him, to Amy's dismay she was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Now she finds herself having attend a ball as Ivan's girlfriend. They slowly realized they weren't as bad a the other thought and that they didn't just have super charged sexual chemistry but also had complimenting personalities.

We didn't just get Terry's and Amy's POV but we also get Ivan's and his POV was EVERYTHING because I LOVED the evolution of his character and his arrogance just melted away for Amy. I couldn't get enough of how obsessed he was! I LOVED Ivan and Amy together, the banter, the sparks and the development they each had together and apart was AMAZING!!!

If like me you're a glutton for sad and heart wrenching stories that will take you on a rollercoaster this is the book for you - OK more like the series for you because I HIGHLY recommend reading the ENTIRE moral dilemmas series because it is all truly phenomenal.

HUGE Thank you to VR Tennent for an eARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book has put me through all the emotions but I wouldn't have it any other way

As the book starts off I was in absolute bits as Amy loses her sister. Ben made a special appearance here & just broke my heart as he's married to said sister. (Book - loving Dr Jones) x

As Amy navigates through grief her & Terry are hit another blow and these scenes were so real you felt everything 💔 Terry takes the decision to leave her & I felt so sorry for him but also hated him at the same time!

Amy meets Ivan & sparks fly! I love their connection is instant! Even though its hate. The spicy scenes between these two is just off the charts. As they begin to fall for each other a spanner is thrown in.

Amy is just amazing & stays so strong throughout x Amy proves you can have second love over 40 but more than that you can have a full meaningful life without children x

Life doesn't always work out how we plan and I love that this writer sees this and this book to me feels so real as if it could be someone's story x 💔

This book definitely broke my heart but then, slowly put it back together again. Please check trigger warnings.
This book started off with a loss. Amy has just lost her twin sister. Then Amy starts a new business that her sister wanted her to do. She is trying to move on as best as she good with this loss.
Terry is her soul mate or so she thought. As her husband he has been supportive one. Deep down, the loss of Amy's sister and new business, amongst other things has started to put a strain on their relationship.
Amy eventually finds herself with more loss. She is quite remarkably strong for all she goes through and still tries to live on. Life seemed to have dealt her a excruciatingly tough card.
So here she is now trying to rebuild herself and her life from the beginning again, at the age of mid 40.
This is when the wonderful Ivan turns up. You know when one door closes another has to open? Ivan was her new beginning.. They don't start off in the best way unfortunately.
Circumstances gets them to be closer together, which then starts to clear the misconceptions she had of him. Although their chemistry was instance she didn't want to act on it. Poor lady had enough disappointment in life to make her sceptical.
I really love how these two develop throughout the story and workout their feelings.
Despite it being heartbreaking at the start it does leave you with a wonderful smile in the end.
If you like Enemies To Lovers and second chance at life after 40, then definitely give this a go.
There is so much raw emotions, loss, grief, togetherness, humour, banter, love and soo much spice.
Come join in this wonderful roller coaster of emotions.

This book will have you on an emotional roller coaster, but it’s all worth it for that perfect ending! Amy is a twin & her sister Bex has a terminal illness that has taken her life in such a short time. Amy is closely approaching 50 years old & her husband Terry is determined to become a father, but Amy is finally happy within herself with the opening of the gym her sister helped find & competing in bodybuilding competitions. Now being the supportive wife she gave IVF a shot because she felt she needed to atleast try especially cause she put having a child on hold when her sister became seriously ill. My heart broke when Terry left, but in his mind & heart he felt like it was the only way & he needed to be a father no matter what it took. Ivan is businessman when it comes to gyms & bodybuilding, he doesn’t get told no so when he wants Amy’s gym there isn’t much he won’t do to get it. Now that’s before they spend time together during the holidays & become very comfortable with each in & out of the bedroom. They fall for each other, but when I tell you I was on eggshells when the whole gym news was revealed between the two & don’t even get me started on Terry popping up thinking he could just come back after shattering her heart. Thank goodness for Katie & Trey who talked some sense into these stubborn people. This has such a good ending & I hope Ben fines love again, he really deserves happiness especially after losing Bex.

I love the way Victoria writes. This is the 2nd book I have read, and I really can't wait to read more by her.
This is another 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read that takes you an emotional rollercoaster journey that is so relatable.
This is Amy's story, and it's so real and raw. There's loss, resentment, pain, anger, and broken hearts.
Again, you will need tissues!!
They always say life begins at 40, and this is Amy's second chance.
I'm not sure what I thought to Terry.
Did he do the right thing???
Was he selfish???
But I don't suppose you know what you would do unless you were going through it your self, its definitely a hard one.
Ivan, on the other hand, is the rich, arrogant womaniser who always gets what he wants.
Boy, is Amy perfect for him and doesn't take none of his crap.
I love that these books aren't like you usual books, I don't know how to put it, the characters are your everyday Joe, if that makes sense you can live with them feel what they are going through and really relate to what's going on in the story, it totally plays with your emotions, absolutely enjoyed every bit of this book even the sad bits. And yes, I highly recommend reading, but make sure you read in order, unlike me 🤣🤣.

This is my first read of Moral Dilemmas series, I'm starting at the end and reading as a standalone.

Only a few pages in and I had tears in my eyes. This is a heartbreakingly emotional journey following real life situations and the emotional rollercoaster of grief, pain and loss. It also had some real life humour and very spicy scenes too.

It isn't the type of book I thought I would like or even enjoy, as it is a little raw, faces difficult topics and I usually read to avoid a somewhat difficult reality. I was very apprehensive to begin with.

No one is more surprised than I am that I did enjoy it! I couldn't put it down as I had to know how it all panned out.

I'm so happy Amy got her happily ever after, she flipping deserved it and I would have hunted the author down if that hadn't been the case!

If you like angsty emotional, real life kind of reading then definitely give this series a chance.

Please check trigger warnings due to the sensitive topics covered.

The start of this book is heartbreaking, Amy’s twin sister, has just died after battling terminal cancer for 4 years and it’s time for Amy and her soul mate husband Terry, to move on and start following their own dreams. However, over the passing years and due to circumstances their view of the future is now different and love is just not enough to keep them together. We get to read both POV and it’s heart wrenching.

Continuing to follow Amy as she picks up her life after another devastating loss we see how strong she is. When Amy meets Ivan there’s initial attraction but he quickly becomes someone she despises. The development of their relationship is a surprise to both but it’s far from a smooth journey to HEA.

This book is a raw and real emotional rollercoaster. It is part of an interconnected series, I read and enjoyed it as a stand-alone but will go back at read the others as the characters are great and I’d like to know more about Ben, Bex, Katie and Lance.

Amy has my whole heart she has been through so much, when she needs her husband Terry the most he abandons her. She has just lost her twin sister and now her husband has left her she is completely broken she throws herself into her gym and bodybuilding. She has to rebuild her whole life especially once her gym is in financial difficulties and that’s where Ivan comes into her life but they don’t get off to the best start with Ivan being a complete ass, but he eventually grinds her down when they have to pretend to be together as a decoy for one of his many conquests, but they soon realise they can’t be without each other but Ivan leaves something out he has kept a secret from Amy and it is just something else which she feels she lost control of.

We get 3 POVs Amy, Ivan and Terry and the story follows over such a large timeframe interlinking with the other stories in the series. I felt all of the emotions that Amy went through and I have a lot of hatred for Terry and his selfish decisions they way this author makes me feel when reading is like no other it all feels so real almost like you are reading a real life story such a talent

This was an emotional roller-coaster. The way the author wrote this book made me I feel like I was not reading a piece of fiction; I felt like I was living someone's life. I really enjoyed getting the three different POVs.

In book 3, we follow Amy through some devastating life events. The death of her sister, her inability to conceive, and a divorce from her soulmate. Terry was not my favorite, I hated that he was so selfish and left Amy without a second thought.

When Amy meets Ivan its not love at first sight. Amy dislikes Ivan; she believes he is just a rich man who wants to buy her failing gym. After a chance run in at the mall, Amy helps Ivan buy a Christmas gift for his elderly aunt and agrees to be his fake girlfriend. Neither of them expected their fake relationship to build into anything. After a holiday to Thailand everything changes.

Despite the heartbreak Amy experiences, she gets a second chance to find her happily ever after. ❤️

I am very honoured to say that I beta read this a while ago. And it broke me, even thinking about Amy and her troubles makes my eyes a bit leaky.
What an emotional ride this story is.
Love sometimes isn't all fairy dust and unicorns. Life happens we get dealt a crap hand. Whilst dealing with grief and traumas she makes it through and finds who she is.
And Ivan.... this man is everything! He loves and cares for her so preciously.
Amy truly deserved all the goodness in the world. She has my heart 💕. I was a snotting and snivelling mess whilst reading this book.
Terry....he still needs to get in the bin.
Victoria's writing is amazing and her stories realistic and true to life and will resonate with so many. Real love, in the real world with real problems. It's raw. It's about love and loss but after all that it's real.

Once again a very emotional Book well done VR Tennent

Amy has had to deal with a lot with the death of her sister and starting a new business, but the one thing that has been constant is her husband Terry. Until he was not Amy and Terry have been trying for a baby for years, but it never happened for them so Terry walks away from their marriage and gets a divorce so he can have a child with someone else.

When Amy first meets Ivan does not like him at all she thinks he is arrogant and from what she knows he is a playboy, but when she spends more time with him she sees him in a different light.

Can Amy see past the playboy and all the heartbreak she has been through and find love again, so she can have the happy ever after she so deserves as she has a heart of gold and after everything she needs that love.

And i so wanted to get into the book to smack Terry so much

Thank you VR Tennent for allowing me a chance to read this book for an honest review.

This book is very emotional! Ups and downs…highs and lows! I didn’t want to stop reading!!!

Amy has just lost her sister to cancer. She and her husband, Terry, find out they can’t have children. Terry leaves her as a result because having a child is “non-negotiable”. In the middle of this, Amy opens a gym and throws herself into after all the heartbreak.

In walks Ivan Harley. He wants to buy Amy’s gym from her. But she refuses to sell to him. They despise one another!

From here, there are chance meetings. Then to a fake relationship and meeting his family to taking a vacation to falling in love to betrayal.

In the end, Amy finally gets her Happy Ever After!

Just wow!!!

This book is one if those books that could be real life that a friend is going through.

Amy losses her twin sister which gives her the push to open her own gym that she’s been wanting to do for a long time. She is also doing bodybuilding competitions. She’s married to the love of her life, Terry. But something comes between them.

This book is about a second chance at love and life. There is heartbreak, pain and climbing oneself back to happiness.

I enjoyed Amy and the supporting cast - Trey was lovely and Ben was so sweet and supportive. The spice was well done and plentiful.

The big con for me was the male love interests; they were not even a little bit likable. Terry wasnt supposed to be - he was a selfish prick and we were supposed to dislike him. But my first impressions of Ivan stuck with me and I was never able to shake it and look forward to his winning Amy's heart. The first internal dialogue we get from him he mentally body shames some older women working out and from that moment on he was human garbage to me, so I found no enjoyment in him finding a HEA.

I have no words to describe what this book made me feel. This is the second book I read from this author and let me tell you I am not sure which one I like more.

Rebuilding My Future is well written with so much emotion that VR Tennent makes you feel each and every word.

This book will definitely having you crying 😭. The emotional roller coaster you will go through will be worth it.

Rebuilding My Future by VR Tennent is an enemies to lovers, second chance trope. The book is filled with pain, anger, loss, resentment, healing and determination.

Rebuilding My Future has just enough spice 🌶️ to satisfy your cravings.

Rebuilding My Future by VR Tennent is definitely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was my first book by this author and I was blown away by how beautiful but heartbreaking this story was.
Amy dealing with the loss if her sister and her husband Terry tries to be there for her but makes the kinda selfish decision to leave her.
Things got worse when she met Ivan because as much as there was a spark and attraction there it was also hate. Slowly and with some spice these 2 come together and get there own HEA. Amy was a strong and beautiful character that shows there is always a window when you think all the doors are closed on having love again in your life

You want an emotional rollercoaster you’re definitely in for it.

Make sure you bring the tissues and the support blanket cause this book is heavy we’re tackling a lot of deep subjects.

Amy damn girl you’re strong, I’m not sure I would handle everything she does. But the journey of it all so good and really gives you that second chance love.

Ivan what a prick but he definitely grows on you and made me change my mind and I’m happy because they are so fitted well together.

3 povs but it’s not hard to follow. It’s really good and you should absolutely read it!!
