Men of Valor #3.5

Her Protector

Rate this book
This is a short story sequel to His Princess (Men of Valor 3) and a prequel to Men of Valor 4. Approximately 9000 words. Oma should fear the fierce warrior whose captive she’s become after she is seized while spying. The penalty is the lash of his whip. The ache in her body is not from the sting of his flogger but from the scorching heat of his touch. Still, she has to resist him if she wishes to safeguard the secrets she hides. Jide is the prince’s closest guard. His duty is to keep the royal family safe, so he should deliver instant justice to the spy in his chambers. Yet the intense fire in the eyes of his beautiful prisoner Oma stirs him beyond that of any other maiden in his past. When his self-control is tried which will he choose—hand her over for punishment or defy the prince and protect her?

Her Protector was the sweetest novella I've ever read by Kiru, meaning there was no sex in it at all. I kept waiting for it to come, but it didn't, and I was okay with it because the story was wonderful. I love an alpha male and a strong heroine with a secret to hide.

Where they do that at? This was a wonderful read! He was her protector & much more. To meet a man like this is great. If I met a man in the same instances, I'd be leery too Omo, but it turned out GOOD!

This is definitely a teaser - a prelude to what promises to be a rich and satisfying series. Personally, I like my teasers with more heat and stronger description, but this one did a fine job introducing the characters and establishing relationships. What hooked me was the setting. I haven't found many well-written, well-researched romance novels set in pre-colonial West Africa, and it was a pleasure to be immersed in the royal culture of the time. I just wanted more!

Good Read

This story was a fairy tale of love and honour. Kiru Taye involves her readers in the world of loyalty and a second chance in love through imagination. It was an easy task of imagining the characters and their strength as they exposed the work of a traitor. I enjoyed the journey to another country.

Maybe I need to read some of the other books but this one did not grab me. I felt let down and disappointed. I needed more information and felt rushed through the story.

Great

This was as intriguing as the rest. It was short and sweet. Fighting for love and risking it all for love.

I really enjoyed this book. It was refreshing to read something outside of the traditional American setting.
