Langdon knows that there are certain men that are, and always will be, off limits to him. At the top of that list is Ivan, his best friend’s younger brother. Still, when Ivan edges toward coming out of the closet, Langdon quickly finds himself getting roped into indulging the younger man’s curiosity.
Cute and smart in equal measure, Ivan’s used to getting his own way. When he sets his sights on Langdon, he’s not above being sneaky when it comes to getting his attention or overcoming any resistance the other man might have to the idea of doing whatever he wants.
Ivan’s been indulged by almost everyone in his life for as long as he can remember. Will Langdon be just another name on that list of people who rush to do his bidding? More to the point, is that what Ivan really wants, or would he much prefer to be the one subject to another man’s whims?
Kim is a thirty-three year old bisexual submissive from Wales (UK). First published in 2008, she has since released almost 100 BDSM erotic romance titles ranging from short stories to full length novels. Having worked with a host of fantastic e-publishers, she has just moved into self publishing.
While she has occasionally ventured towards other pairings, Kim's first love is still, and probably always will be, Male/Male stories. But, no matter what the pairing, from paranormal to contemporary, and from the sweet to the intense, everything she writes will always feature three things - Kink, Love and a Happy Ending.
This is one of the most fun stories about "topping from the bottom" I have come across in a while. The thing is, the situation isn’t limited to the sub sort-of-trying to do it once, or even in a few cases. No, Ivan has this whole strategy figured out, basing it on the fact he has always gotten his way with everything else, so, surely, Langdon will behave as expected, right? Wrong!
Langdon is a true Dom. He is also trying not to fall for his best friend's younger brother, but Ivan just pushes all of his buttons in the right way. I loved watching his inner fight, his attempts to rationalize doing what Ivan wanted. Temptation is certainly at serious levels and their encounters are a lot of fun. But when Langdon finds out the truth? He is not amused. A pissed-off Dom is not what Ivan wanted – however, it may just be what ne needs.
Ivan is a conniving little tactician, all determined to get into Langdon's bed. The fact that he goes about it in exactly the wrong way only dawns on him when Langdon figures him out. At first Ivan is just upset about being caught, but as he sees the effect on Langdon, and listens to the man's explanations, he understands his mistake. I had to admire him for the way he accepts the consequences of his behavior.
If you're looking for a good example of what 'topping form the bottom' looks like, and what its consequences are when the Dom catches the sub at it, if you enjoy a bit of subterfuge and manipulation, and if you like the hot in-and-out-of-bed action two hot men figuring out their relationship can offer, you will probably like this short book.

Very good kinky short m/m romance about a dom who's staying with a friend while he looks for work. He's also trying to avoid the temptation of the friend's younger brother, without much success...
For a Dom, Langdon seems curiously unsure of himself sometimes. This, of course, made him much more real and more human to me. He wants Ivan, but he doesn’t want to want him – he’s off limits as his best friend Talbot’s little brother.
Ivan has pretty much gotten his own way with everything by manipulating or using his wiles. He has a whole scenario planned out so that he can gain the attention (and the body!) of Langdon. This includes pretending, pouting and outright lying. Ivan doesn’t do it to be cruel, he just knows what he wants and this seems the fastest route to it. When he is busted, however, Langdon is one unhappy Dom.
It doesn’t seem clear through the story whether Ivan has been a sub before, but he certainly will be if he wants to be with Langdon. One or two name switches were a little confusing for a second, but all in all, well written and funny.
Once again Kim Dare has created a darling character, Ivan -- pretty, submissive, and apparently "innocent" until his brother's best friend, the Dominant Langdon, comes along and learns just what's hidden behind that gorgeous, book-wormy, shy exterior. Gorgeous and book-wormy? Absolutely. Shy and innocent and still in the closet? Not so much.

This was lovely, I loved Ivan learning from Langdon and the interplay between the two. Ivan was beautifully written, it was a little harder to get a handle on the type of man Langdon was, but as ever with Kim Dare stories, it wasn't long enough.
