Berit is afraid to be sent to Africa as a missionary. She wonders if God likes denim hats. She feels safe with the Pentecostals, because they don't cry that much. Kristi Furubotn's first novel is about a young girl who in 1975 comes to a village in south-east Norway to go to high school there. A central part of the book is her relationship to religion.
I wouldn't say it's the best written book I've read, I felt like there was something missing. I couldn't manage to sympathize with the main character of the story, and the sentences were too long and dull. Not a book I would recommand, and no wonder it did only cost 25 NOK...
