1Night Stand #125

Paging Doctor Wolf

Rate this book
Trauma surgeon Dr. Dallas Olson is too busy to date. Signing up with Madame Eve’s 1Night Stand service seems like a good plan, but his plans are sidelined when he’s nearly killed by a wolf attack. While still recovering and dealing with unexplainable side effects, he nevertheless agrees to meet the woman Madame Eve found for him.

Looking forward to her 1Night Stand date, werewolf shifter Cara Johnson is disappointed when it’s canceled unexpectedly. When Madame Eve lets her know that the man she should have met has suffered a wolf attack, Cara fears he’ll become a rogue werewolf himself during the next full moon. Unless she finds him and brings him home to her pack before that happens, her Alpha will have no choice but to kill him.

With only days left before the full moon, Cara and Dallas meet. He thinks it’s a one-night stand. She thinks it’s a mission to save his life. Madame Eve has other ideas.

What if rogue werewolves came into the hospital and bit you? What if you knew something was different about you but it wasn’t until a beautiful woman explained that you knew? Dallas Olson was supposed to be on a date with Cara Johnson but a group of werewolves came into the hosptial and attacked him when he was defending a patient. And while Madame Eve knew that Dallas and Cara would be perfect together, it wasn’t until he was turned that the truth became realized.
Dallas Olson is a great doctor who cares about his patients. He enjoys the challenges of the trama team and never lets the stress get to him. He appears to be a perfect doctor with the skills of a world class surgeon and bedside manner of a saint. Yet something was missing from his life.
Cara Johnson is a werewolf hybrid. She is the result of a mating between a werewolf and a human. Her skills are best with numbers and her sharp brain has kept the pack in the money. Yet she was also looking for a mate and suspected that he was to be found among the humans. Seeking out Madame Eve, she was all set to meet Dallas when the attack happened. Now she must face him and explain the truth about werewolves and hope that he is willing to join the pack so he won’t be destroyed.
Mrs. Royce creates a wonderful world of werewolf shifters who have passion and family ties. Cara is the sister of Bethany who married Luke and the sister of Jack who found his mate in the book, Believe in Me. While each book is connected and some characters show up in different stories, each book can be read alone and enjoyed for the wonderful stories that they are. Readers will be enthralled by the passion of Cara and Dallas as they realize that they are meant for each other. Paging Doctor Wolf is a sexy tale of finding the perfect mate where and when you least expect it. And each woman dreams of finding that man who can complete her.

Cara is a werewolf who really doesn’t have the time to date. Her brother-in-law is the alpha of the pack, so when he says something you do it. Cara gets Madame Eve’s help to set her up. Only thing is her dater doesn’t show. When her alpha calls her into his office and shows her the newspaper clipping about Dr. Dallas getting bitten by rogue werewolves she knows she has to help him. If he does his first change by himself her will turn rogue and he will have to be killed.

Dallas doesn’t have time to go out and have fun. That’s why he gets a little help in the date department. Only thing is he wasn’t expecting to be bitten by wolves in his hospital. He can’t understand how he is healing fast and he can scent things better than he ever could before. When Cara walks in after Eve talked him into having his date, everything changes. He knows he has to have her. The only thing is that he doesn’t know why he wants to bite her and why is he growling?

I have read many books in this series and each and everyone is unique. They are centered around the same thing but every book is different and has something that keeps you coming back for more. I loved the werewolves in this one. One thing about them is they go after what they want. You will be on fire after you read this book. Seems animal extinct is at the surface, no matter if you have been a wolf all your life or just getting to shift for the first time. Another thing I like about this series is that the couples are just like everyday people with problems that we all face.

Rebecca Royce certainly has a way with writing werewolves. She’s got plenty of world building in such a short time that catches anyone not familiar with her work up without any confusion. You can tell there have been other stories prior to this one, but it doesn’t hurt at all if you’ve not already read them, though it does peak your interest enough to want to go read them asap.

I enjoyed the dynamics between the characters; his sudden alpha side and her playful teasing side. I love a woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to voice it. I also like how, despite the intensity of his urges, he still wants to do right by her.

The only thing that bothered me was that even though it’s explained away as instinct, it all still feels a little too quick and easy. That being said, it all led up to a pretty adorable ending, so I can’t complain.

The characters are tentative, yet blazing and it takes you on the same roller coaster ride they’re on as they explore each other and get everything figured out. A fun and sexy trip through the dynamics of werewolves, Paging Doctor Wolf is sure to leave you with a smile. Recommended!

Cara and Dallas's story is not my normal selection. I don't get to much into shifters and things of that nature. In saying this I like how quickly it got to the point and the immediate connection the two had. Talking about hot and heavy. They clicked that's for sure. For again some strange reason I really liked this book. The author does a great job so I could see myself reading another book of hers. This was fast and cute. A bit strange but definitely a good read.

In only 34 pages Ms Royce builds a world and populates it with characters to care about and infuses it with a plot that you can’t stop reading until you get to the end. I really enjoyed this story and definitely look forward to reading more of Ms Royce’s work.
