A harmless kiss led to a fairy tale. Or so I thought. But unlike the happily-ever-
afters you read about, my tale didn’t end with a wedding gown and roses.
My fairy tale turned into a heartbreak. Inked in pain and sealed in tears.
It almost cost me my life. And my family.
He moved on as if nothing ever happened, while I was left to pick up the pieces.
Now, he’s back and he wants me.
To him, I’m a pawn to be used. Leverage. But I’m no longer his. I’m his brother’s betrothed.
Stuck between two brothers, the push and pull unbearable. One wants me, the other needs me. But the Leone brothers will learn that this queen won’t be a pawn.
To me, they are both men deserving of pain and poison.

Unforgiving Queen by Eva Winners (Stolen Empire Trilogy Book 2)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️~Stars and MORE! 🌶️🌶️🌶️~Spice
📌“I’m sorry, cinnamon girl.” My throat squeezed, suffocating me. “I was trying to do the right thing.”📌
This book had me in a chokehold! Eva, what are you doing to me!? I couldn't put the book down, page after page I devoured like my life depended on it!!! After the horrible ending in book 1 we get to follow Amon and Reina’s journey into the new horrible reality of not being able to be with your soulmate. Reina does everything to get over her heartbreak and the accident, which is not the easiest. But in the end she still finds a reasonable level of normality so she can survive the day. Amon plunges into the Underworld and does what he does best, doing everything he can to protect Reina from the outside so no one can ever hurt her again. Reina and Amon still manage to find their way back to each other, but will they get their happy ending!? Or will those around them manage to destroy their happy ending???
📌 “You’re mine, cinnamon girl. Get it through your head, because I’m never letting you go again.”📌
This is all I intend to write about this book, as usual all books are the best without spoilers and Eva Winner's books are always the BEST that way!!!🥂But what I can tell you is that you won't regret it! Because this book was truly a page turner and I devoured it in less than a few hours!🖤 But don't forget that this is a triology and you really need to read book 1 in order to read the remaining books in this series☺️
And to my dear Eva! Thank U so much for letting me continue on this magical book journey with you and that I get to be one of your ARCreaders! You are such an incredibly talented writer and I just CAN'T wait for the next one.🖤
With that cliffhanger from Bitter Prince, I knew this book would be emotional and that these two characters would endure a lot of hurt and pain. This book keeps you guessing, and just when you think you know, Eva pulls a plot twist.
𝑰𝒕'𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅, 𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒐𝒏 𝒈𝒊𝒓𝒍.
Amon is a beast; he was OBSESSED and wasn't taking NO for an answer. I loved how possessive he was; he would make her his no matter what it took.
They have been through so much, and the story isn't even over. Can we talk about that cliffhanger!!? I mean, girl, why you gotta do us like that? I can't wait to read the final book, Wrathful King.
Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Trope: second chance Angst: 😱😱😱😱😱 Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥
These characters have totally drawn me in. All of them. SO much drama and pain and angst. My heart could barely take it. Lots of "think I know what's going to happen" happening going around in my head, but do I really??? Nooooo 🙈. The third book cannot come fast enough.
These cliffhangers have officially unalived me, Eva Winners, lol.
When Amon was 12 years old he and his brother Dante took the blame for the Romero sisters, Reina and Phoenix, breaking their fathers precious vase. That night, they received a vicious beating from Angelo Leone instead of the two young sisters. After Reina had gate crashed Amon’s 23rd birthday party to let him know that she was pregnant, he broke her heart by kissing the beautiful model on his arm. She fled the party so distracted that she didn’t notice the vehicles heading towards her as she stepped out into the road. When Amon found her she was cradled in his brothers arms looking lifeless and broken. When he discovered the reason for her turning up to see him, it broke his heart. He stayed with her until her family discovered what had happened. Amon is so angry towards his mother he becomes a hardened version of himself and starts treating her with the contempt she deserves. She starts to show her true colours. Reina is depressed and reckless. She can’t seem to snap out of her love for Amon and is simply broken. Despite having a successful budding fashion career, Tomaso Romero arranges for Reina to be married to Amon’s brother Dante. Reina does not want this or any union. It’s a sick joke in her eyes, especially as Dante broke her sisters heart and Phoenix is still in love with him. Amon’s determined to do everything he can to prevent this union from happening, especially as he discovers more treacherous secrets. He’s still madly in love with Reina and can’t bear the thought of anyone else being with her. He also discovers that his cousin is still working with the Cortes cartel and Sofia Volkov. They’re all determined to get their hands on Reina, leaving Amon and his friends sick messages to warn him that Reina is never going to be safe. So he has to do everything in his power to help the love of his life… As part two of the trilogy, this book picks up from the heartbreaking cliffhanger of Bitter Prince. Reina and Amon are both heartbroken and broken. Reina goes through a reckless depression whereas Amon becomes a hardened shell of the man he once was. There never seems to be a way for life to return to how it was with barriers that get in the way. But truths are hidden and only Amon and eventually Reina discover them. We also find out the mystery behind the dismembered body that the girls are worried about in Isla’s story, Thorns of Death. It’s a fast paced, brilliant read, filling in a lot of gaps and showing just how sick and twisted their parents relationships truly were. Finishing on a nail biting cliffhanger, just as happiness has seemingly entered their lives. Your gut tells you things are going to get a lot worse in book three and a happy ever after seems further out of reach. Superb. *This is book two of a trilogy. It would be detrimental to the story as a whole to not be read in order as there are three more girls left to get their HEA after Reina hopefully does. It also overlaps with Thorns of Death via the fashion show.
**ARC was generously provided in exchange for my honest review.**
Oh man, you may need tissues at the ready.
Bitter Prince ended on a jaw-dropping conclusion, only for this second book in the trilogy to be filled with heartbreak, emotional and mental whiplash, brutality, and secrecy. Lots of secrecy!
With how things ended in the last book, I had expectations of revenge, feistiness, and a “phoenix-rising-from-the-ashes” deal, and yeah there was some of that, but not enough. Nowhere near enough.
There were levels of intensity and suspense throughout but not necessarily in the scenes I was expecting them to be. However, Reina and Amon are locked in an emotional tug-of-war and the anxiety without a doubt leaped off the pages and left me on edge. Winners is outstanding at creating complex characters shrouded in angst and heartbreak. With the Unforgiving Queen I felt like I was in the eye of the storm— it’s tumultuous, unpredictable, and engrossing. I couldn’t put it down!
It’s a dark mafia romance that touches on a lot of relatable and realistic situations and experiences. From first loves, to heartbreak, to dysfunctional familial relationships, to more serious and personal matters such as dealing with life and death, and mental health.
Putting the romance and mafia elements aside, both Reina and Amon struggle with familial expectations whilst battling with their own inner demons. If it weren’t for the loyal friendships and genuine sibling relationships, this story could easily have taken a much darker turn.
I like the balance of lightness and darkness encompassed. There’s surprisingly well-timed comic relief that had me in a fit of giggles. It’s a much-needed reprieve from what is a mostly gloomy atmosphere. I am obsessed with Reina’s girl gang and looking forward to seeing more of them in future books. Amon’s brother is quite a thrilling highlight all on his own. The more snippets of his story being divulged, the more I’m getting antsy to get my hands on it.
These supporting characters are a diverse and dynamic bunch, all with strong personalities and stories of their own. Keep tabs.
Sigh. A double cliff-hanger is bookish torture but it’s to be expected with a continuous storyline. Winners really knows how to leave readers dangling on for dear life with her storytelling, but I’ve read enough of her books to know it’s well worth it. I can’t wait to read the final book in this trilogy, and hopefully get all the lingering questions I had answered. The build-up is excruciatingly angsty but my gosh did it heighten my reading experience!
This was fast-paced and told from two broken-hearted characters’ POVs. When I wasn’t kept on tenterhooks, I was mentally, physically, and emotionally preparing myself for waterworks. Winners puts her characters through the wringer. Reina and Amon put the whole “star-crossed lovers” trope on another level. It’s multifaceted, totally twisted and cruel, and you’ll want to curse the book Gods for putting not just the MCs through hell, but the secondary characters as well.
Brilliant writing. I’m still in amazement how well Winners interweaves all of her books from different series’ together and manages seamless crossovers. You can read this story without having read her other dark/mafia romance books first, but I have no doubt you’ll be curious to read them afterwards. Just note, this is a continuous storyline and Bitter Prince needs to be read prior to starting this one.
After you read the first book in the trilogy, you’ll know what to expect in terms of the dark themes and sensitive subject matters included. But I have to mention, this part of the story is darker and grittier. Some readers may find certain content triggering. It contains graphic violence, child abuse, torture, kidnapping, self-harm, and deals with pregnancy loss and death. It’s intended for readers of age.
All in all, I’m ready for what’s to come next. This book only amped up my excitement for how Reina and Amon’s story will end. This story is perfect for avid mafia romance readers and more specifically those who enjoy angsty romance in a new-adult setting.
Unforgiving queen ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Okay this book just broke my heart and I’m really hoping the next book is going to put it back together. That ending!!!! I’m not okay. This book is part of a trilogy so you have to read the first book to follow along. Now if you read the first one you would know that Amon and Reina have been through a lot but for whatever reason keep finding themselves back together. So what happens when Amon finds out that Reina has been arranged to marry someone else. And not just anybody but Amons brother. There’s no way he can just sit back and watch this happen but after what he found out in the last book it’s not like he can have her either. Is there? This book is full of twists and turns and just as you think you know where it’s heading it switched up again. That ending has me spun, I really can’t get over it. I’m going to be sat staring at the ceiling for a while after this one.
Now if you are deciding to read, which I highly recommend, please check trigger and content warnings as this does discuss topics some people may find upsetting and it also contains very explicit sexual content 😏. But if you’ve already read it please let me know what you think.
Eva Winners, you are becoming the Queen of the cliffhanger! I think you must be channelling your inner P.T. Barnum and feel that you should always leave your readers wanting more, you definitely leave me desperate for the next book! If I didn’t know satisfaction was ultimately guaranteed I could hate you a just a little for teasing your poor readers. Picking up the story where Bitter Prince left off, Unforgiving Queen deals with the aftermath as Amon struggles to come to terms with the discovery about the truth of his parentage but he can’t keep away from Reina and obsessively watches over her from a distance despite knowing they can never be while Reina sinks into a dark depression not knowing why Amon had broken her heart. It's not all angst though and this author has shown that she can write humour with the best of them namely the rehearsal dinner scene that had me chuckling as I read, Reina and her girls are a force to be reckoned on and I cheered as Phoenix hit Dante squarely where it hurts. In a fast-paced story that runs concurrent with several of the previous books, I loved seeing certain events from other perspectives until the truth is uncovered but just as happiness is within their grasp, their story once again reaches another dramatic cliff hanger leaving me with a burning question mainly why the Brazilian cartel and Yakuza are so desperate to get their hands on Reina.
oh my- i can’t wait for the third book!! this cliffhanger was cruel 😭
first of all this book was definitely a rollercoaster of emotions. the first half of it was heartbreaking, gut wrenching and intense. if you’ve read thorns of death you have already seen some situation about what’s happening but to finally know the whole truth and read it in Reina’s pov was so sad. my heart truly broke for her, this girl went through hell and back💔 (but need to say i live for the girl’s friendship!! nothings hits more than a true and tight girls group).
as for Reina & Amon’s story let me tell you- buckle up for an intense ride. i can’t tell you much cause it would be spoilers over spoilers considering this is part two of a trilogy. but i LOVED their story especially towards the end of this book.
"Reina Romero was a part of me. She’d found a way inside my broken soul and lodged herself there so solidly no surgical knife would get her out."
i also just saw that eva announced thorns of silence the fourth book in her thorns of omertà series and i’m so excited i can’t wait for read it after wrathful king!🩶
I wasn’t ready for this book. I knew I wasn’t ready. I knew I wouldn’t be ready. For the things that it did to me. To my heart. My mind. Oh boy. But I wasn’t going to let all that stop me from reading it. In fact, I absolutely devoured it.
The hate and loathing is big time in this one. Romero vs Leone. Leone vs Romero. Just pick a person from each family and there is animosity seething from them towards the other. But even with all this hate, the love that Amon and Reina have is also there. It never stopped and doubt it ever will. Even with what Amon believed to be true, it never quit. And my heart and mind were in a turmoil through most of the book because of what he thought was truth.
But as with book one, this one ended in another explosion of a cliffhanger. Literally. I am not sure I can wait for the conclusion. I think our poor little reader hearts have been through enough. Twist after twist…reveal after reveal…we need something good to hold on to until the end. And it needs to be a happily ever after if there ever was one. 5 Most Brilliant Stars!!
My heart is literally in my throat after this cliffhanger. I was literally holding my breath. Oh my god I need the last book of this trilogy so my nerves can relax again! I thought the cliffhanger from book 1 was brutal- NOPE! This was worse. And I can only imagine the pain and heartbreak that’s in store for book 3 before Amon and Reina get their HEA. I hate seeing everything that these two were are going through. But for all the pain and suffering that’s thrown at them they keep finding their way back together. They are like magnets, like true soul mates and no two people deserve more happiness than these two. There is absolutely nothing Amon won’t do to protect Reina and keep her safe, and just when they get a little bit of happiness- boom! We’re at another edge of your seat cliffhanger!
Why am I surprised that the cliffhanger in Unforgiving Queen is even more brutal than the Bitter Prince? It is Eva Winner’s signature after all. My heart is crushed to dust and I don’t even know how long I will have to wait to get to the next book in the series. As expected, I am hopelessly in love with the bitter prince, Amon, and some of the things he says in this book are just Oscar worthy…
“I spent a lifetime living for you” - Amon
That happens to be one of those things he said that had me bawling like a kid. And to be fair, Reina has reached into my soul a few times as well.
“I’d forever been linked to the boy with stars in his dark eyes,…” - Reina
Well, you get the gist. If you haven’t started this series, Stolen Empire, don’t waste a second any more. It is definitely worth a few heartbreaks.
Holy freaking cow! Boom! That's all I am going to hear until the final book releases. This book had me hooked from page one to the cliffy! This story is one for the books. Possibly one of my favorite trilogies thus far! Action, passion, love, deceit and so much more is what you will get from this story! Dante, Dante, Dante... what are you up to Sir?! Amon still holds my heart! Totally what book boyfriends are made of.
Holy hotness this read had me in tears and shattered my insides at how unfair it all was. It’s suppose to be if your written in the stars then it just is… not your in love with your… oh my can’t say that. You may not have read book one yet and I don’t wanna spoil it but just know I was as devastated and as angry as Amon was. And when he did what he did to “protect” Reina. I am not sure how he should have handled it but that wasn’t it. I get it and my broken heart shattered even more for them both but I was so angry this was happening to them. I felt like I was there. Like I was them and it was both amazingly magical and the devastatingly tragic. Eva drew me in, in a way that brought everything to life and I enjoyed every moment. Even the ones that had me in tears, the one that had me threatening to slit someone’s throat (yeah I’m violent in my imagination when things get messed up by someone). I will say that I saw some of it coming from page one but that ending…that cliffy blew me away. No pun intended…
I devour this book in one day I just couldn’t put it down Eva Winners has become one of my favorite dark mafia romance and anticipating the future couples to come.
This is the second book of stolen empire trilogy and it start with Amon 12 years old and what happen when he save phoenix and Reina after they break a vase and Dante and Amon took the blame and the wrath of there father.
Then it continue to the attempted murder of Reina because the car accident wasn’t an accident someone is trying to kill Reina because of her father Tomaso Romero bad dealings. Amon see everything and blames himself and stay with her and find out Reina was pregnant and mourn the loss. After Reina need emergency surgery the doctor have to call her family and Amon can’t have her hidden anymore that when her grandmother keep him away and he watches from the distance for three years.
Now we know who Isla was talking about how to make a dna disappear in a body and the person was a surprise I just didn’t see. Amon find out the truth about Reina parentage and who her father is and why his mother never married Angelo Leone and the lies she told.
Amon goes after his woman and take her to make her his wife and finally telling her the real reason why he left her and apologizing.
Dante has been acting really strange and the cliffhanger with Dante oh my god what going on there I’m just to excited to read Dante and Phoenix book and find out what going.
There so many surprises and sneak peak and probably potential couples I’m so giddy Thank you Eva Winners for this amazing Arc.
"Reina Romero was a part of me. She’d found a way inside my broken soul and lodged herself there so solidly no surgical knife would get her out."
The Reina and Amon of Unforgiving Queen are very different people than we met in book 1. There is a loss of the simple love between them. There is too much betrayal, too many secrets and too much violence. But underneath it all and across the three years separating the stories is a deep love and connection. Both are still living for the other without being connected. Both are holding secrets that would make life so much simpler.
Unforgiving Queen is another brutally gritty and dark mafia based romance from Eva Winners. She really is the boss of creating such complex and detailed crossover worlds with family politics that thread through the whole of this underworld. Amon holds such a weight on his shoulders. A weight that should be shared with his Queen.
These two are no where near their happy ending yet. Book 2 ends on another heartstopping cliffhanger (the likes of which only Eva can accomplish). Book three is set up to be a thrilling conclusion for these three
After Eva put us through a major cliffhanger for a whole month, the cliffhanger after reading this book is much worse. She is becoming the queen of cliffhangers, which is not good for my brain.
Anyway, I hated Amon for breaking up with Reina the way he did. But as the story goes on I was rooting for Reina and how she put through his bullshit.
Reina and Amon are both struggling with heartbreaks when more secrets are revealed which shows them there is still some chance that they can be together. When Amon comes to know that Reina is getting married to his brother Dante, he does everything in his power to stop this union. I was on edge reading the last half of the book. There are so many secrets to keep up with, which makes the book interesting. Some twists and turns make it more intriguing. In the end, Amon and Reina got back together, but there was such a major cliffhanger at last. My jaw was on the floor and my eyes were wide open.
Another 5 star read from Eva!! Another emotional, raw, electrifying story about Amon and Reina. I can’t wait for the conclusion in book three.
In book two, Amon and Reina are apart but still in love with each other. However, Reina is still harboring anger from what he did to her. And then her father tells her she is to have an arranged marriage with Amon’s brother Dante. So much turmoil and family drama ensues and the twists are eye opening.
We are also left with another huge cliffhanger and many questions still. As always, impeccable writing, storyline, character development, emotional attachment for the reader. A mafia love story of two people who are destined to be.
This starts off with a bang! I was so ready for this book after reading Bitter Prince. I knew what I was getting myself into BUT I was wrong. I got so frustrated with the withholding of information. It drives me bonkers! I am so invested in this story though, I read this in two days. I love this authors way of writing and I am beyond invested! I can only hope book three will be my favorite. I love these characters so much. Although some of them I want to punch in the face. The girl's friendship with one another is so beautiful in itself. Come one book three!!
This will be a short review simply because I don't want to give anything away. Keep in mind that this is book two in a trilogy. Unforgiving Queen picks right back up from the brutal cliffhanger of Britter Prince. Amon and Reina have seen tragedy, and heartbreak, and felt despair. These two deserve a happy ending but you won't get it in this book because again Eva leaves us with another brutal cliffhanger.
And she does it again...... that ending. I loved this book we saw a different side of Reina and I loved it. Especially the part in the different color dresses!! Amon definitely becomes the bitter prince he is named after. Loved this one and now we wait for book 3!!
Just like every book that she writes, Unforgiving Queen is a masterpiece. This book brooke my heart, for both of them. I can´t get enough of them and their story, i just wish that they can get happy for once, I love them. And i can´t with the ending, i need to know what happened NOW.
Thanks to The Next Step Pr and Eva Winners for the arc.
So many ups and downs and twists and turns Amon can’t really be sure what the truth is anymore. Yet when he is given proof his whole world changes. Amon and Reina have been at odds to say the least. Not sure I love the way Amon handles things but he has a lot going on lol. Another dramatic cliffhanger ending. I am looking very forward to book three!
'The Queen has come with her crown to claim her throne, but will she reign alone or with her Prince-turned-King? Eva Winners conquers the bookish world with this next instalment! - The British Bibliophile
Thank you to Eva Winners for sending me an ebook Advanced Readers Copy to read and leave an honest review as part of her ARC/Promo team
NOTE - This review won't contain any spoilers but will make reference to elements within the blurb so if you wish to go into this second of three books in the series without knowing what happens next, please turn away from my review...now :)
Unforgiving Queen is the second of three books in Eva Winners' 'Stolen Empire' series. Each book follows on from the next and is about the same set of main characters--with rotating supporting characters--, so I would strongly advise that they be read in order for the complete timeline of events. Otherwise things will be all over the place.
For a true experience of each book and as a personal recommendation, please don't wait until all three books have been published until you get to know Amon and Reina. I know it's tempting to wait so you can back-to-back read, but these cliffhangers are so good (and I'm not usually a cliffhanger fan), you'll want to have that on-the-edge-of-your-seat feeling until the next book. It's one hundred per-cent worth it! I'm still holding my breath and I am so looking forward to the third and final book in this trilogy series.
Unforgiving Queen picks up (almost) where book one, Bitter Prince left off. With the exception with a few throwback chapters which filled in a few blanks from said first book. It's not long before we're back in the present with Amon, Dante and Reina and where things lay teetering on the edge with a situation quite literally hanging between life and death. Things could shift either way, but both Leone brothers are set on saving Amon's fallen Queen.
What was once supposed to be love from afar soon turned into sweet, forbidden romance. The blossoming romance between Amon and Reina has been at this point, years in the making, and reaches a point where it looks like the Princess will finally get her Prince. Cue a spectacular spanner in the works and a halt on their Happily Ever After. There's more to face and overcome before turning the page to said Happily Ever After but this time, two paths must be walked alone before at last they're merged back into one. But will they both make it to the merge point and face their future together? You shall soon see.
Ultimately this instalment injects plenty of action, adventure, angst and more into what would otherwise be the 'saggy middle bit' of a trilogy. Eva's brilliant writing elevates that straight away with what she's included here for Reina, Phoenix, Dante, Amon and the gang. The fact that I polished this off within 24 hours is a testament to that and then some. There was so much packed into this--and Eva's novels aren't slim things, no complaints from me--that coupled with how well Eva's words flow and are such a delight to read, I couldn't put it down for more than the few hours I had to sleep for. 'Just one more chapter' is a very justified and well known phrase that applies here, as well. You're getting quality content from a quality author, period.
As I've mentioned a few times here in this review as well as the review for Bitter Prince , this is a trilogy read. Which means to those who caught on quickly, there will be two cliffhangers at the ends of books one and two. These aren't standalone reads in a trilogy series, they all are connected in one shifting timeline. Cliffhanger number one again as previously mentioned, brought me to the edge of the cliff. Therefore, I should've expected another obvious cliffhanger at the end of book two, right? Correct. I knew that. Or at least, I think I did. I found myself so immersed in the story that Eva had written that by the time I was getting to the final pages of the last chapter of the book, I.Still.Did.Not.See.THAT.Cliffhanger.Coming! I was entranced and where I was once brought to the edge of the cliff, I am now dangling precariously while awaiting the drop to the third and final book in the series.
I hope you'll all join me there when the time comes, we can fall together and even deeper for an author who should be on every reader's bookshelf and sights.
