This was an amazing trilogy! And the two cliffhangers in between, took my breath away!!!
Amon and Reina shared a slow burn romance which consisted of: So many secrets… So many revelations… So many layers…
Wonderful main and secondary characters that brought out many and intense emotions, either positive or negative. The twists and turns were plenty and intriguing, the pace and the flow were very well executed as well as the mcs’ growth. A few things were farfetched yet didn’t diminish my interest.
The sex scenes weren’t that many - I was thrilled, therefore didn’t take away from the plot. I liked that Amon waited until Reina was 18 years old before he slept with her.
Throughout the story we were told that Dante (Amon’s brother) had an accident but there was no further exploitation. As well as regarding his relationship with Phoenix (Reina’s sister). I believe that their story will be released in the future, however some elaboration would have been nice.
What an emotional rollercoaster ride! That cliffhanger at the end of Vengeful Queen had us hanging by a thread, but it was only a glimpse into the hell Reina and Amon are going to need to go through to finally get their happy ending. Trials, tribulations, secrets, and revenge... it will all having you pulling at your hair and shedding some tears before it's all over.
I said this once and I'll say it again. I HATE trilogies. Like seriously hate them, lol. Cliffhangers give me anxiety and the fact that I'm 49 and can't remember shat from three weeks and 30 books ago does me no favors, lmao. That being said, READ THIS SERIES - it's totally worth it! Seriously, it's a fantastic journey of love and loss and redemption and triumph. Amon and Reina are the yin to each other's yang. Eva definitely knows how to weave the stories that warm your heart and stay with you far after you close the book.
Wrathful King is the 3rd book in the Stolen Empire series, cannot be read alone, and must be read in series order. I am SO looking forward Dante and Phoenix's story!
I'm surprised with the turn of events in this trilogy, I didn't see this coming. Check your trigger warnings before reading this last book.
It was hard reading what Reina went through since she was captured. Thank God, she wasn't raped but still, the things she experienced weren't easy to read. It made my chest ached and I really thought about skimming those scenes but they were part of the story, so I persevered.
I liked that Amon didn't stop looking for her, his love made him determined to find her whatever it takes. He barely slept during that whole month they were looking for her, and I felt how much her abduction was slowly killing him, but like I said he's one hell-bent resolute husband. Glad that all his efforts paid off.
There were twists and revelations starting from 75% of the story. Some of them were a shock to me. But surprisingly I enjoyed this book. I'm glad that I continued with this trilogy and the ending was satisfying, imo, despite the frustrations caused by the first two books.
This author has a gift for entangling the story so that no one can grasp who is related to whom (I barely) and despite everything, I can't stop reading... this's addiction.
This trilogy was out of the norm for Eva; she usually writes standalone and duets, but wow, I devoured it; what a wild emotional rollercoaster this has been. I am sad that it's over because I LOVED these characters.
After the cliffhanger from Unforgiving Queen, I knew these two were going through hell and back, and they did. Get ready and bring some tissues cause this had me all in my feels. I was either crying or screaming at my tablet, but trust me, it was so worth it. These two are meant to be, and I am glad they got their happy ending.
Eva is a phenomenal writer, and I loved the Stolen Empire Trilogy. This book can't be read as a standalone, so start with Bitter Prince.
Loved the series but mainly this last book of the trilogy took the cake. Loved the angst, the darkness, the fightings and attacks. Loved the plot and the side characters. It’s a 6 star read for me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Loved the ending but wasn't ready for it to end 😭 I need to go see if this author has a story for Dante because that man is the level of sarcasm and unhinged that I need in my next book boyfriend 😂
**ARC was generously provided in exchange for my honest review.**
All the angst, heartbreak, action and suspense from Bitter Prince and Unforgiving Queen had been multiplied tenfold in this conclusion to the Stolen Empire Trilogy!
If like me, you were slightly underwhelmed by Reina, will now have no qualms about her resilience, courage, and determination in this book. She comes into her own and I found myself rooting for her as she gradually grew from strength to strength. Her fierce fighting spirit and survival instincts was nothing short of gut-wrenching and awe-inspiring.
It’s not for the faint-hearted. The dark themes have intensified and some readers may find the content of this book disturbing or triggering. It contains strong graphic violence, kidnapping, human trafficking, rape, torture, drugging, self-harm, murder/death— all resulting in PTSD. This story is intended for readers 18+ only.
This part of the story was painstakingly slower-paced (which I usually struggle with), but I found it elevated my reading experience. The sense of defeat and never-ending cruelty seeped out of the pages and I was easily transported right alongside Reina to this dark, lonesome, and soul-crushing backdrop for a good portion of the book.
Winners has also included one Easter egg after another throughout that there are so many theories floating about in my mind for future books and possible pairings. I’m buzzing with excitement for what’s in-store *cough* Dante *cough* Ghost *cough* 😍
From all the books by Winners that I’ve read, Reina and Amon have one of the most emotional and highly angsty journeys. Just when you think it couldn’t get any worse, you’re taken further down the rabbit hole. But looking back to where it started for these two; all the twists and turns, their HEA made it all worthwhile.
It’s thrilling, bloody, and soothed my thirst for revenge on behalf of Reina and Amon. What’s more, the character crossovers included added dynamics, entertaining interactions, and further dimension to the story, this amounted to the perfect level of crazy and intrigue.
I love Winners’ writing, it’s always intricate and full of intensity. The storylines are always gripping and her characters draw you in almost immediately. I’m an avid dark mafia romance reader, but it’s rare to see any sort of diversity within this sub-genre. Reina and Amon’s diverse multicultural backgrounds and opposites-attract personalities made their relationship distinct, not just within Winners backlist of books, but with mafia romances in general. It’s also an amazing, complex addition to her ever-expanding mafia world.
Just note, this is a continuous storyline. Bitter Prince and Unforgiving Queen need to be first before starting this third book.
If you've been on this tumultuous journey with Amon and Reina, then be prepared for a rollercoaster ride in this thrilling finale. The angst, tension, heartbreak, and betrayal are amplified in this stunning conclusion to the Stolen Empire Trilogy.
Amon and Reina finally get their well-deserved happy ending, but it's far from a smooth ride. This book had me on the edge of my seat with my eyes glued to the pages.
Reina experienced terrifying and tear-jerking events and we see her undergo a remarkable transformation in this book. Her journey from vulnerability to strength is awe-inspiring, and I rooted for her as she faced unimaginable hardships, displaying an indomitable fighting spirit.
Reina and Amon's journey is one of intense emotion and high angst, and just when you think their situation couldn't get any worse, the story takes you even further down the rabbit hole. Yet, their hard-fought happily ever after makes the entire journey worthwhile.
Please read the trigger warning. This book delves even deeper into dark and triggering themes than Unforgiving Queen and Bitter Prince. The content includes graphic violence, kidnapping, human trafficking, rape, torture, drugging, self-harm, murder, and death, all leading to profound PTSD.
I enjoyed the diversity in Reina and Amon's multicultural backgrounds which added a nice touch to Winner's mafia world.
A word of caution: this is a continuous storyline, and it's imperative to read "Bitter Prince" and "Unforgiving Queen" before diving into this third book. It's a thrilling and complex conclusion to a dark and gripping trilogy that will leave you both satisfied and eager for more of Winners' mafia world.
"I've waited for you since I was twelve years old. I fell in love with you before I knew what love was. Please don't leave me alone. I'm nothing without you." ~
"Break my heart, Reina. As many times as you want. It was only ever yours to break. But I will never give up on you. My heart beats for you. I'll love you until my last breath, but I'll also fight for you until that day comes."~
"I will have you in any way you'll let me, Reina Romero, If I have to wait ten lifetimes, I will. In every life. You and me against the world."~
"I want you to see me owning every part of you. You're mine your demons, your fears, your happiness, your fucking tears. They are all mine."~
Honestly I don't even know where to start with this review. For more than 50% of the story I was not sure if we were going to see Reina as the cinnamon girl that Amon fell for all those years ago after everything that had happened to her but with the perseverance of Amons love I was so happy to be wrong.
It is such a bittersweet moment knowing their story has ended. This trilogy has kept me in a chokehold since it started and I will most definitely be doing a re-read now that all the books are out. Wrathful King had everything I was anticipating it was going to have. Lies, Betrayals, Suffering, Traumas, PTSD, Revenge and most importantly HEA.
In book two Amon walked away from Reina because of the truths his mom told him. When he walked away from her, Reina was left heartbroken and wondering why after everything they have been through he was doing that. Thankfully torwards the end of it they found their way to each other but life couldn't be that easy, no life was cruel and it was determine to keep them apart.
Book 3 - Reina had to endure lots of suffering. Like A LOT, we are talking mentally and emotionally. Amon was at the brink of death as well unable to protect Reina. I will not be giving any spoilers but I can tell you this one is one of my top 5 stars reads from this series. Eva you have done such an amazing job with the story. I can't wait to see what you do with Dante and Phoenix's story line.
Wrathful King by Eva Winners A Dark Mafia Romance (Stolen Empire Trilogy Book 3) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️~Stars 🌶️🌶️~Spice
📌 “Cinnamon girl, I’ve waited for you since I was twelve years old. I fell in love with you before I knew what love was. Please don’t leave me alone. I’m nothing without you.”📌
▪️The third and final book in this fantastic trilogy!🥂 Eva really gave us an absolutely awesome ending to this series that was filled with everything you can imagine!!! If you have read book 2 (Unforgiving Queen) then you know where our dear couple was left off. Wrathful King picks us up right from there and boy what a ride it was! This book was a real page turner and I devoured it in just a few hours, it REALLY was that good🥂🥰 Wrathful King was so incredibly sad but at the same time so very beautiful! Reina experiences something that you would never even wish on your worst enemy and she manages to come back stronger than ever with her own will and determination like the QUEEN THAT SHE IS!!! Amon is there by her side all the way and showering her with love and support that also helps her heal from the traumatic experience🥹 Amon is really the best and his love for Reina is just nothing short of AMAZING❤️
📌 “We’ll share every lifetime in any form, because you’re my yin and I’m your yang. You’re my yang and I’m your yin.”📌
▪️This is all I intend to write about this book, as usual all books are the best without spoilers and Eva Winner's books are always the BEST that way!!! But don't forget that this is a triology and you really need to read book 1&2 in order to read this one☺️
And to my dear Eva! Thank U so much for letting me continue on this magical book journey with you and that I get to be one of your ARCreaders! You are such an incredibly talented writer and I just CAN'T wait for the next one.🖤
What do I say?? I love Eva’s writing and the plot twists she incorporates keep me on edge in every story and every time I read her books. This one was no different. I adore Amon and Reina and truly enjoyed the first two books but this one was next level in darkness and possessiveness.
It all started with a darker path when the second book ended with Amon being shot and everything went to sh** from there. The story has so many DOWNS before making it UP slowly and steadily. There were so many secrets to get out of the way and work on a positive path.
Everybody in the story is catching up to all the secrets and year’s long plots. The determination Amon has just steals my heart away. His being in love and willingness to do anything for the love of his life is so awe-worthy. He has become a king whose wrath will teach everyone not to mess with his family.
Reina is the one who steals the show here by being a very strong character one can see. She is the image of brilliance and her fighting spirit makes me love her so much. I love how well her character grows and she overcomes her demons with sheer will and love. She deserves the world.
The Stolen Empire trilogy is definitely a worthy read with a fast-paced story, a lovely couple, lots of twists and tragedies, a mafia world, friends being a chosen family, deep betrayals, love unconditional, on-and-off chances of love and secrets of years being revealed step by step. Do read it.
This was the conclusion we’ve all been waiting for! This trilogy ripped my heart out and strung me along for an emotional ride before making it all better by the end! This is definitely Eva Winners greatest work yet I’m addicted to this world that she has created I love the characters I love how fierce the men love their women and I love how strong and confident but compassionate and loyal the women are plus their friends group is what every girl group should be like . This was full of action steam twists and turns that kept me turning page after page and the emotions was sooo good all the feels my heart absolutely broke for Amon and Reina and what they went through this was such a addicting journey and I can’t wait for Dante and Phoenix’s story next!
“Wrathful King” is the conclusion to Reina and Amon’s story.
After the last book ended on bloodshed, this one begins with the kidnapping and torture of the heroine while the hero is whisked away, injured by a different enemy.
We go through chapters and chapters witnessing the heroine getting assaulted while the hero and her family try to look for her. Loads of family and mafia drama in the background until the heroine gets rescued, which is when we meet a traumatized and broken woman.
Honestly it was devastating to see the happy, cheerful heroine from book one become the really scarred survivor she eventually ended up as- glad the hero didn’t give up on her despite her ptsd and bad coping techniques. Ends on a happy note with a satisfying epilogue.
we can finally read about amon & reina getting their well deserved happy end but buckle up for an intense ride. i have to say the stuff reina went through was heartbreaking and the first 40% really kept me on my toes cause i just had to know how everything would work out!!😵💫
now i‘m so happy they found their way back to each other and of course to see some of the previous characters (& the characters that don‘t have books yet🤭) again. i‘m really excited for the next book in the thorns of omertà series!
The gripping finale to the Stolen Empire trilogy and Eva Winners, you’ve definitely saved the best for last with Wrathful King and put Amon and Reina through an emotional wringer. Their story has had everything, intrigue, lust, suspense, threats and drama, betrayal and treachery where it was least expected, fantastic characters all centred around a machiavellian plot of auctioning of mafia daughters. Amon and Reina’s road to happiness has had so many bumps and obstacles put in their way and at times it must’ve seemed like the fates were against them but in Wrathful King the pain and torment these characters go through especially Reina is heartbreaking and would’ve broken a weaker woman completely. Amon’s handling of her in the aftermath of her ordeal was so tender and touching balanced out with his brutality as he took his vengeance on all involved. This trilogy has been an epic read from the first book and with all the hints and that epilogue I’ve been left desperate for Dante and Phoenix’s story.
Third and final part of this full-of-emotions trilogy.
I really enjoyed this journey. Their feelings were described in a depth that can’t compare to the other books of Eva’s universe in my opinion. I liked both of the MCs so much. Such strength, devotion, protectiveness and love for their people.
Do I think some things were repeated more times than necessary? Yes. Do I think it could be a bit shorter? Also yes.
But apart from the revelations at the end that came a bit too easy, I think the trilogy as a whole is a solid 4.5 🌟. I liked that it was a slow-burn and that the spice wasn’t excessive; especially in this final part. And I also enjoyed some short comical reliefs here and there.
Needless to say, I won’t be waiting long to learn about Dante.
'A trilogy that ends quite literally with a bang. Several of them. Wrathful King brings to a close one of the most explosive & best series' out there' - The British Bibliophile
Thank you to Eva Winners for sending me an ebook Advanced Readers Copy for me to read and leave an honest review, as part of her ARC team
NOTE - This review will be spoiler free as always, but will make reference to elements within Wrathful King's book blurb, as well as a general recap of the past two books. If you wish to read this book without knowing a single thing, please scroll away from my review...now :)
Wrathful King is the third and final instalment in Eva Winners' Stolen Empire trilogy series. A three-part series comprising of three equally as encapsulating reads detailing the timeline journey of its two main characters and their story of true love, loss, healing and hope. Not counting the blood, violence, death and destruction facing them at every turn on the road to happily ever after as King and Queen.
As this is a trilogy, Wrathful King should not be read first. Start with Savage Prince before moving onto Unforgiving Queen and finally, Wrathful King . Otherwise the series of events will be completely out of order, won't make sense and you're more likely to spoil something for yourself accidentally.
*Top Tip: Read Eva's Belles & Mobsters series for added content into characters that appear throughout this Stolen Empire series.
If you've been following the trilogy so far--which I sincerely hope that many readers have been--you'll know exactly what's been going on and down for Amon and Reina. Fair to say, it's not been a quiet or boring ride for either of them up until this point. As children first born into mafia families, it wasn't going to be the regular life for them right from the outset.
Meeting at a tender age for both Amon and Reina, the two were always destined to meet. They just didn't know at the time, that there were other forces at work which would've brought them together if not for their first initial--and humorous--meeting all those years ago. Their paths kept crossing until one day, their fates were intwined and from then on out, the two were to navigate what destiny had in store for them.
For Princes and Princesses, Kings and Queens, the happily ever after begins the second they say 'I do', and begin their new lives together as one. Amon and Reina may have skipped and gone back a chapter or two, but they were at last--at the end of Unforgiving Queen -- heading towards said happily ever after, after much turmoil, suffering, love lost and found. Unfortunately for them, it seems their happily ever after was not yet meant to begin. There are more chapters to be told of their story, which first begins with ripping their chances of being together firmly apart. Permanently.
Or so it seems. There is as always, more to the story than what lies upon the surface.
After secrets kept hidden had been unravelled and the bitter truth twisted before it set him free, there's nothing that will stop Amon Leone from fighting for his Queen. Fighting is usually left to the knights, but this is one King who will get his boots on the ground to bring back his one true love, his Queen, even if it was the last thing he ever did.
Amon and Reina made a promise to one another. 'You and me against the world . She was his, and he was hers. Together, they'd stand side by side and face the unprecedented events that would forever encircle them as part of them being born into a world that faces to tear them apart and test them until they're down on their knees, spent and begging for mercy. Now facing the fight alone until his Queen once more stands at his side, Amon Leone plans to win the ultimate fight and risk all he has and is for the woman that is his heart and life.
Having been an Eva Winners reader for quite a while now and as such, having read a varying multitude of her books, I can say hand on heart that this series--along with the Belles & Mobsters--is not only up there in the top series in which Eva has produced, but is up there with my favourite of all time. Hands down. With the Belles & Mobsters series, we saw a huge timeline and series of events spread out over the course of a number of books, each book focusing on a different pair of main characters. This time around, we've got the same set of characters spread across three books, allowing for a more in-depth and detailed story and I truly felt like we've got to know these two and those in their close circles, more intensely and deeply. Feeling like we not simply know them as characters in a book, but that we feel we truly know them.
This final instalment in the trilogy answered SO many questions we were left asking after reading book two--with a few 'gasp out loud' surprises too because come on, Eva is a Queen at that!--ramped up the drama, gore, action, emotion and everything that I've come to know and love about one of my must read/favourite authors.
I'm never not impressed with Eva and just how much she keeps giving us with each new book and series. Noticing the way she goes from strength to strength in each book, clearly displaying the positive changes and ways in which she is growing in her writing, characters, storytelling and building of worlds and everything within them, only reinforces that this is what she's meant to do and how we are meant to love her. Her writing speaks volumes of her talent and I'm here to see where she takes us next and to watch her grow even more.
Reina was kidnapped by Perez Cortes who is rounding up girls with blonde hair and blue eyes, and who are illegitimate daughters of the mafia. Reina is in the clutches of Cortes for a month before Amon is fully able to rescue her after being shot a couple of times. After Amon has her back in his home in the Philippines, she is plagued with nightmares of her time in Cortes’ home. Amon is also searching for his mom and his right-hand man, who disappeared without a trace. Thinking a honeymoon with help Reina cope and come to terms with what happened, they leave the Philippines on the yacht and travel to Sri Lanka, Greece and Italy. Reina begins to open up to Amon about what happened. It’s in Italy where they finally find out the truth about what happened to Reina’s mom and who had basically sold Reina to Cortes.
What a conclusion to the Stolen Empire series! The beginning of the book was dark and heartbreaking, while the end is full of light and hope. I loved this book so much! I’m so happy Reina and Amon finally get their happily ever after, after what she had gone through. Amon is so supportive of Reina as she recovers and comforts her when the nightmares become too much for her to bear❤️ Also, there’s amazing spice!!
An epic ending to an epic series! I just can’t get enough of these books. It’s everything it’s got mystery, suspense, murder, passion, love, lust and so much more. Reina and Phoenix are two kick ass sisters who deserve the world at least that’s what the Leone brothers think at least. The steam btwn the girls and the brothers is… wow so hot. In this book Amon has lost Reina again. This read starts where the last one ended on the cliffy. Amon was shot trying to protect Reina but it just wasn’t enough. There is a leak somewhere. Because his location was unknown by most. And they were attacked Reina taken and his world turned upside down again. A world without her is not a world Amon wants to remain in. He’s willing to give up everything his wealth, power and reign if only he can get her back. What will he have to sacrifice? Will it be enough? Will he find her in time? All is revealed you just have to pick up the book and read it to find out! I recommend for anyone who into dark/mafia romance. There are triggers so be aware of that up front. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!
Wrathful King (Stolen Empire Series) by Eva Winners. The story picks up with Reina kidnapped and Amon fighting for his life. We are told their story as it is happening, each of them separately. If you are squeamish, get ready. We know the fate that is waiting, Reina, and her journey is a tough read. While Reina is gone, Amon is struggling. He can't do much at this time because he is healing from his wounds. He also has to deal with betrayal perpetuated by people he thought was in his corner. As Amon is planning what he needs to do to try and get Reina back, he still has to deal with his cousin, The Yakusa and the Omerta. Reina was quite a surprise. She was meant to be Amon's queen. I really do not want to give away any of the story. All I can say is the game of mouse is on. Between them trying to find Reina and get her back, Amon putting all the pieces together and then trying to find Phoenix , we are sent on a hunt that has many twists and turns. I was so looking forward to the conclusion of their story and I was not disappointed. What I am looking forward to is reading Phoenix and Dante's story. Hint hint. One can only hope. 4 strong stars for me.
Wrathful King is the conclusion to the Stolen Empire Trilogy. This book picks up where book 2 left off. Although the ending of book 2 left me with hopes, the beginning of this book shattered that. I can honestly say that the first quarter of the book I was on the edge of my seat. I devoured this book because I want all the answers and couldn't wait to read Amon & Reina's happy ever after -- which they got but after jumping through hoops. Reina is such a brave and resilient character. I love her character development. I enjoyed seeing the sibling relationship between Dante and Reina. This book was a little faster in pace compared to book 1 & 2. The plot twist was the one I didn't see coming - I was hoping for the best at one point. I am sad that this trilogy/series is ending but am excited to read the rest of the characters' stories. I would say that even though the questions in this trilogy were answered, new questions are raised that will more than likely be answered in the other series. I can't wait to read Dante & Phoenix's story!
Let me say first, it was refreshing to have a romance story that was more plot than "romance". Oh, there was romance, so don't get me wrong. However, there was actually an entire plot/storyline that lasted for three books. This was a storyline where I was never bored and had to keep listening.
My negative critiques are: 1) I have never heard the word "sardonic" used so often in my entire life. It was overkill; and 2) the medical scene (IYKYK) was a huge no for me because it wasn't realistic. Two hours? For four young women, it would have easily taken at least six to eight hours (depending on how much was done).
Other than that...well...I stayed up all night just to find out what happened in book three. It kept me on the edge of my seat.
