Decoding the signal has given us one chance to stop the Anomaly, an ever-tightening cosmic noose, before it squeezes the life out of Earth.
The only problem is, the aliens’ single instruction sounds like a bona fide death wish.
They want me to step through their incredible quantum gateway, an enigma wrapped in starlight.
Believe if I had any other option, I’d be taking it.
But with the best data giving Earth a few days before the Anomaly consumes us, options are in short supply.
Suicide or salvation? I’m about to find out.
Because whatever I'll find on the other side, this all ends now…

The Last Horizon is the sixth book in The Earthburst Saga, which begins with Last Man Standing . From Craig A. Falconer, bestselling author of the global blockbuster Not Alone.
As book six in a series, there isn't really too much I can say about this one without risking spoilers. I thought it was another that started a little slow, and I wasn't thinking too much of it (compared to the others) until maybe a bit over halfway through. Then came the customary ramping up of intensity, and it ended up levelling out to be a very enjoyable read. If you've read the previous books in the series first, you know pretty much exactly what to expect, and if you haven't read them first... what are you doing picking up a book with "book 6" on the cover?!
Remember that the last book cut off with our having to cross the gate to meet the aliens. There was this big build up to meet the aliens when suddenly, woops, no aliens. Buy the next book. Well, for the first 30% of the book, we dither over whether we will even go through the gate. There's really no question that we either go through the gate out die, but we dither over whether we should out not. Some of our friends are prepared to blow us up if we try. Well we do. Except there's no alien. We wander through a maze to only finally find a bunch of dead aliens. Just like a repeat of before, we find a panel with a couple of white dots Erich we realize is a life detector, and there is one other entity that speaks articulate English. Weird, it shows up on the life detector, but it's a robot. Seems the anomaly was created by the aliens which killed them off, and its going to get us also unless we and the robot can figure out how to stop it. Of course getting the job done isn't easy. It requires crashing an alien ship, going down a tunnel, and creating an explosion that narrowly blows us up. We make it back. Greet our friends seem to wind up the book when all of a sudden we get a cliffhanger. I'll forgive this one since the story was wrapped up, and the cliffhanger is merely a device to join in a subsequent adventure. The story was interesting, although there were several impossible escapes from outrageous situations, but what the heck it's only fiction.
hold on, it’s quite an exhilarating roller coaster ride!
At first, it seemed like this 6th installment of the Earthburst Saga was going to be another “Ray and Driver save the world” story, but not this time, because they get to save…oops, that might be too much of a spoiler. Sorry, you’ll have to read it to find out, LOL. I found this to be a fast-paced story, more so than most of the others in the series. However, much like The Last Man Standing, the story starts out with some amazing new discoveries but the outlook goes progressively downhill, from bad to worse, to disaster, to catastrophe. Far from home, and cutoff from their support team, Ray and Driver do what they have to do, what they’re good at. Hint: Ray’s good at blowing stuff up. They do get some surprising help from a new , non-human friend. It seemed like the story was wrapping up in a very satisfying way, until the last couple of pages…here comes #7!
The Last Horizon, The Earthburst Saga book 6 is a hold-your-breath story right from the first chapter. This is what I love about Craig A Falconer's series -- it starts up right where the previous book left off. The message from the aliens is finally decoded. Full of hope, but frankly scared to death, Ray and Driver head out to follow the instructions. They just want Ray and Driver to fly through where the Anomaly starts. A quantum gateway. Wait, what? Those aliens have GOT to be kidding! Seriously, tell us what we need to do. Oh, it's the Gateway or nothing? Well, suit up guys, we're headed out to what sounds like a suicide mission. But Ray takes his work seriously. Out to the Cosmos, go through the gate, stop the Anomaly, come home a hero. Maybe. But if this is the only way, it has to be done. Craig A Falconer hasn't led us astray this far, so strap in! Once again he nails it.
This book was a tightly knotted sequel of the Earthburst Saga, Reason to Fear cliffhanger. It doesn't disappoint! This challenge is to get to an alien world through a wormhole and stop the Anomaly. Much of what our main characters Ray and Driver experience is all in uncharted territory for humanity. The success of the mission is questionable at best, but it is a risk that they must undertake. Not doing it is certain annihilation for earth and by risking their lives may mean certain death to them, at least they stand a chance to save earth. This adventure is amazing and the science and suspense conjured up keeps you glued to the book.
This should be more interesting than it ends up being, because: It has the same issue as all the other books in the series. The Audiobook spends 6h with a slow-paced introduction (great!), then 2h with one single problem to solve, with some okay plot twist or whatever, and then it's just over. It's not satisfying and I wish the books would be combined into a stronger and more well-paced story instead of a split-up trilogy following the same formula for each book.
This book helped me avoid a reading slump, so that was a relief. This series has not disappointed me so far.
However, having a character named 'Porro' was quite an experience. Where I live, that word means either a joint or a person who vandalises places (schools are common targets), in general causes trouble, and is often intoxicated.
As you can probably imagine, I couldn’t read the name with a straight face. I laughed more than I should have.
Yet again, Ray is about the only person who can save humanity. Well, him and Driver. The saga continues as Humans discover a message from only 4 light years away, that can stop the Anomaly. But someone has to first create, then go through a wormhole. Then will it be over? Tune in for more Ray, Driver and Laika adventures. I'm so glad I got the whole series and can read them one after the other.
Again, the dynamic duo of Driver and Ray must save the day. Going through the wormhole to meet the aliens who can help stop the Leak is Earth's only chance. And the clock is ticking.
Another great adventure that kept me hooked from the first page to the last page.
Just finished The Last Horizon, book 6 of The Earthburst Saga, and things just keeping going in the wrong direction for Ray and Driver. It's a case of solve one thing and discover two more. And I can't wait to see how they solve them. Keep 'um coming Craig.
What can I say about this book in the Earthburst Saga the isn't sarcastic or negative or that I haven't said already in the reviews of the previous books?
Let's put it this way. Do you remember the movie "Police Academy"? Now do you remember "Poce Academy 7"? Right, that.
Not going to continue with the next 'trilogy'. Don't think I can take more of the 6 times reheated microwave hash.
The Earthburst Saga Book 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and now 6, been a fantastic read, and now we meet the aliens, in previous reviews I’ve said how I've enjoyed the books, so any praise is only repeating myself. Now number 7 is out, yippee Reg
I really loved it..not a single page which was boring. Earlier books of the series got boring in the middle when the author started building, but this never let go ..
