Please note, this is only here for researchers to reference now, please look at my newer title Even Ninja Monkeys Like to Play if you want a book on Gamification
This is a short and simple starter on Gamification (about 90 pages of content).
Described as "A great primer", this is mostly aimed at people who have not yet dipped their toes into this most fascinating of subjects. Among other things, it will arm you with a basics understanding of motivation, what to use to hook into that as well as examples of its use in the real world.
Written in plain English, A Simple Introduction, is based on many months of continuing research, conversations with experts in game design, gamification, psychology and more as well as my own experience and insights into the application and understanding of gamification.
In this eBook I aim to answer some key questions;
What is Gamification? Why is it important? Do I need it? How can I get started?
If you already know about Gamification, then this may not be the book for you. However, you may still find a few useful thoughts in here – like what game mechanics really are and a look at user types in gamified systems!
This is the second edition with more content, more examples and more ideas.
Andrzej is a father of two, husband (of one - because bigomy is frowned upon apparently...), reasonable guitarist, games lover, Batman nerd and Star Wars geek.
Over the years he has had a few jobs, from web designer, to learning technologist to consultant. What has always remained the same is his belief that games have much more to offer the world than just entertainment.
This led him to getting involved with gamification in his spare time. Now he is a recognised expert on the topic, writing a regular blog about gamification, keynote speaking, consulting on and designing solutions - and writing the occasional book.
I'm applying gamification techniques to create lessons plans to teach K-12 to code. This book help me to fill the gap between concepts and made interesting to kids.
