I couldn’t keep track of the 3-4 side characters due to their French names/titles. I’m not sure how I feel about the storytelling. We start with two prologues concerning the heroine’s parents’ past, which is fine. We jump to the present day. Then back up three days prior and gradually make our way to the present again. We get multiple POVs, four at the least. This kind of storytelling is more suited for a movie where it would be less confusing.

The romance was mostly the hero and heroine lusting after each other and took a backseat to the mystery and some espionage. I did get caught up in the mystery after the 80% mark, mainly because I wanted to see the family reunion. 🥹

There’s a secondary romance for the heroine’s sister but that doesn’t take up a lot of pages as I had initially thought.

If you’re new to Sylvia Day, don’t start with this series. I’d recommend Lucien's Gamble for a steamy good time.

Since the beginning I've glued to this book, it's impossible not to read more to unravel all the mysteries!

I didn't find it conventional romance, although there are 3 love stories. Love conditions the actions of the characters but for me the interest of the reading was focused on discovering the unknown villain and the whole story of Lysette.

We already have a teaser in the latest book about Lysette's sad past, what happened to be a marked person now? How did she get to be a spy given her noble past? Who is Marguerite? What happened to Philippe? Who is the villain? Who is the twins' real father? Really, it was difficult for me to focus only on the hero (Simon) and heroine (Lynette).

Since the last book I found Lysette a good character and it was great to see that she might have found the right man to ease her traumas...Well I just hope bc the end of the book wasn't very clear about that. Neither to explain the reason for her traumas with men that's why I'm giving it 4.5 as I shouldn't have gone unanswered.

With this book you may expect: solving mysteries, rooting for 3 couples, a knot in the brain because not only does the narrative jump between past and present, different povs, but there are also the twins Lynette and Lysette and even halfway through the book Lynette is Lysette 🤣 and a entertaining reading.

This book is not erotic as usual. And to better understand the relationship between Simon and Lysette it's best to read book #3 (A Passion for Him) first.

Note: Yes, on the first pages I also had to confirm that I was reading the right book!! 🤭

What an absolute gem of a book, I loved it from start to finish – it was one that I wanted to finish to find the answer to the mystery, even though I had guessed and that I did not want to finish because I loved the characters so much.

At the start of the book we have Marguerite Piccard and Philippe (Marquis de St Martin) together, she is his mistress and they love each other very much but someone wants them apart. He threatens them, then Philippe is attacked and almost killed, along comes another who marries Marguerite and she leaves to protect Philippe.

Move forward 22 years and we meet Simon Quinn, he is a mercenary and at a party he meets Lynette Baillon but he thinks she is her twin sister Lysette. He has spent months with Lysette and had no sexual interest in her so he cannot understand why he is suddenly so drawn to her. As far as Lynette is concerned her sister died 2 years ago.

This has one of the best mysteries that I have read in awhile and the story came together so well. I love Sylvia Day as an author I do hope the library will get more of her books.

Another interesting storyline.
Another engaging plot twist.
Another off the charts attraction.

Way to end this Georgian series of books! I've enjoyed all of them. The cloak and dagger and the intrigue had me at the edge of my seat in this book. More so than the others. It worked so well because at the core of it all are the unique stories of not just one love story but really three.
The Mom's story was heart wrenching.

I love Sylvia Day for wrapping all 3 stories up for me in a way that I thought they should be wrapped up if I had my say. They were perfectly ended.

Story telling at it's finest!

Simon Quinn works for Eddington as an agent for the crown. He is known for his abilities as a lover.

He meets Lynette Rousseau who is looking for her supposed dead twin sister Lysette. He mistakes her for Lysette whom he knows is a cold calculating woman from working with her in the past but then realizes that they are different women.

Lysette has lost her memory and works undercover for Desjardins and she is assigned to uncover information from Mr. James whom works for Ben Franklin. Lysette gets wounded and Mr. James helps to take care of her and after a period of time pieces of her memory start to come back, but they are not good memories.

Simon watches Lysette to see what she is up to and tries to figure if she is indeed the real twin sister of Lynettes. He knows there is something strange going on.

He then helps Lynette to find her sister and uncover what really happened to Lysette when she supposedly died.

There is a lot of different plots working at the same time that makes this book hard to put down. The ending is Great!

I don't really know what to make of this novel. The plot was so intriguing and the characters so individual, and yet it felt so rushed and so shallow that it never came together.

I wish this novel had been written by someone like Sidney Sheldon, who wouldn't have been afraid to make it 500 or 600 pages long and just really flesh it out. Someone liked SHeldon would have 'books' within the novel. A book for Marguerite and Saint Martin, a book for Lysette and a book for Simon and Lynette, with a final book for the big showdown. A massive 500 page affair with every thought and feeling detailed and real development...

Sadly I thought that this novel lacked all of this, and resigned myself to it being solely about the sex, and then even that dried up! The conclusion barely covered any of the other characters - did we find out what happened to Lysette and Edward? - and I felt a bit disappointed.

3.5 stars rounded up!

Very enjoyable conclusion to the Georgian series! Would have been 4.5 stars but for the somewhat confusing layout of the story, with several time jumps and the multiple love stories told. I read this book for a re-read and challenge which required a main character to have a name with a "Q"~ and what a lovely Q it was! I actually didn't remember any of the plot as I was "re-reading" this, and I may have actually confused this book with another one.

As it was, I recommend that you read this series in order, so that you have a basic understanding of the background of Simon Quinn and Lysette Rosseau.

This is primarily the story of Simon Quinn and Lynette Bailon, but there were secondary romances going on and stories being told of the story of Margeurite and her long-ago love, Marquis Saint-Martin, as well as Lysette and Edward James. And then, in the beginning, there is some confusion between Lysette and Lynette, and later some intentional twin-misrepresentation going on as Lynette replaces Lysette! Confused yet? This also goes into the mystery of Lysette, the spy-assassin, and her background and solves the mystery of how she came to be a spy-assassin.

The telling of this tale is a rather complicated, and is set in the Georgian period, in Paris primarily and a little bit in London and Poland. It tells the story of Simon Quinn, who meets the identical twin sister of the cold spy/assassin that he had guarded, Lysette Rosseau (and who was introduced in previous books of this series). However, he doesn't realize it is really Lynette Baillon, who was recently arrived from Poland with her mother Margeurite.

Simon had never liked Lysette, nor she, him. Their mercenary/spy - spy/assassin interactions were devoid of any kind of romantic interest. Simon was too handsome, confident, too Alpha-male and too playboy for a woman like Lysette, who had been quiet and studious, not flashy nor drawing attention to herself. Lysette likes her men to be Betas, not too handsome, devoted, and considerate.

Lynette, on the other hand, is the more wild sister, and she is overtly feminine, loving wearing colorful dresses and enjoying (as well as being good at) flirting with the numerous men who are attracted to her. She was well-bred in Poland where she resided with her mother and her father, and is proper and still innocent. When Lynette sees Simon at a notorious ball, she stares at him longingly, and he can't but respond to the heated interest in her gaze. He finds himself strangely attracted to this woman who looks so much like Lysette, but who is acting like a seductive stranger. He has to approach her, both to ask her what is going on, and then he wants to kiss and ravish her.

The erotic tension between Simon and Lynette is crazy hot! It is so wonderful to see Simon finally falling for a woman instead of being the stud-whore that he had been in previous series books. There were a couple of super steamy love scenes! The things that Simon says is just crazy hot and explicit. When he first encounters the seductive Lynette, who he thinks is Lysette but behaving strangely, as she was sending him sedutive glances across the ballroom, he grabs her by the elbow and draws her into privacy in the library,

The majority of the book is spent unraveling the mystery of how Lysette ended up as a spy-assassin, and who would do this to her as well as cause such grief to her mother and twin sister, who believe her to be dead. This mystery unravels over 23 years, several countries, multiple households and concealed identities, coerced servants and secret missives sealed with plain black wax.

DON'T TEMPT ME by Sylvia Day is an exciting Georgian Erotic Historical Romance set in 1757 Paris, France. #4 in the "Georgian"series, but can be read as a stand alone. See,"Ask for It"," Passion for the Game",and "A Passion for Him".Re-issue from 2008. "Don't Tempt Me" is the story of Simon Quinn,a spy and mercenary and Lynette Baillon, who has lost her twin sister. Filled with danger, secrets, deceit, lies, vengeance, passion, and love. Lynette's twin sister,Lysette has been dead for two years,or so her family believes. Lysette Rousseau ,is a hired assassin, who lost her memory two years ago.Ms. Day has carefully woven subplots of Lysette and Edward James, as well as the story of Simon and Lynette, and the twins mother, Marguerite, her ex-lover, the Marquess of Saint-Martin,and her husband De Grenier. Brilliant plot with engaging characters. Fast paced. A true page turner. I enjoyed not only the characters as the truth unfolds, but the plot of taming an assassin and a mercenary. Powerful story of how love can save even the most wicked,as is not what it seems and the betrayal of one you trust. While, this title is listed as Erotic, the sensual part was not over the top. If you enjoy historical, the Georgian era, romance, and the power of love you don't want to mess "Don't Tempt Me". A must read! I have enjoyed this series and can't wait to read the next installment. Ms. Day pulls her readers into the story and holds them there. Recieved for an honest review from the publisher.

This novel spans several decades and there are several primary characters. Running in the background is an evil plot by one man to destroy the life of another by taking away everything that he loves. Philippe is married but falls for Marguerite and convinces her to give up everything to live as his mistress. After receiving threats and the beating of Philippe along with the murder of some of their staff Marguerite is convinced that leaving Philippe is the only way to save him. She runs away, marries and has children. She doesn’t see Philippe again until she returns to Paris and her daughter Lynette meets Simon. Ok, so there is way too much that goes on to explain but it ends up that the man that Marguerite married is the evil doer. He hates Philippe because Philippe had an affair with a woman that he loved and she killed herself after not being able to keep Philippe. It turns out that Lynette and Lysette are really Philippe’s children and that Philippe’s first wife was killed by Marguerite’s husband as well. Simon and Lynette end up together. Lysette, who by the way during her amnesia stage was an assassin, ends up with Mr. James. Philippe and Marguerite end up together. It was an interesting read but maybe just a little too much going on overall and not enough developing any particular story line.

This may not be the first book in the series, but I will be picking up the others as soon as I can.

I liked the mysteries and the resolved romances throughout the book.

The characters didn't seem fake or overwhelming, which let ne get absorbed easily into the story.

Whoever wants to read it won't regret it.

And a great thanks to the library for having it!

Don't Tempt Me -- the last book in the series and my least favorite. That's how it was eight years ago, and it's how it is now.

The years have turned my memory of this book to dust. Only one impression remained: that this book was written just to get the series to its conclusion, and that the quality of the story was not a priority. Unfortunately, my opinion hasn't improved, though now I'm leaning towards thinking the author just bit off more than she could chew.

This story, though it's about the characters that piqued my interest in the previous installment, did not hold my attention. I read it just to get it over with, but it took me some time. It is lamentable how long it took me to finish it now that I'm on vacation, ready to read my days away and catch up with books that have piled up and catch up with my reading challenge.

What was the problem with this novel? It had two chapters of prologue, for starters. I got a bad feeling right then and there. In my opinion, the real issue was that it was too short for the four storylines it contained. It started with the love story of Marguerite and Saint-Martin which would resume at the end. Then there was Simon and Lynette's, and Lysette and Edward's. Plus, a mystery involving a man known as L'Esprit, and his role in many bad things that happened to these characters, and this is not even all the novel contained. Three romance stories and a mystery on circa 270 pages led to all being underdeveloped and unfortunately uninteresting.

For a long time now, my one requirement when it comes to my reading material is that it's interesting. That's it. This book failed me. Three romances and a mystery, and it failed me! Oh, and was the mystery fully resolved in the end? I don't think that it was.

I'm pretty sure the only reason I'm giving this two stars even if I struggled to get through it without tearing each page into a million pieces is the male character, Simon, who I thought was pretty great.

So get this, after he realizes the confusion between the two twins and gets all hot and bothered with Lynette, he devises this amazingly complicated plan that somehow manages to surprise you and make you think how the actual hell he came up with it in the first place?!

Photobucket

But seriously, I felt like I was watching inception all over again.

Still, it wasn't enough to make me enjoy the endless spy crap, psychopathic and control freak males and needy and emotionally damaged females. But that's just my opinion.

This was a good read but I was surprised that it did not have as many erotic scenes as I usually see from Sylvia Day. It is the story of Simon who is a spy for England. He mets Lysette but mistakes her for her twin sister Lynette. Lysette thought that Lynette was dead and she will stop at nothing to find out if her sister is really still alive.

"Is your innocence worth so little that you would concede to the likes of me?" "Perhaps my sister is worth so much, I would pay any price for her."
Good intrigue, multiple stories happening, some of which I wanted more from. It bothered me the twins having similar names Lynette & Lysette. I liked all of the leading men, Simon, Edward and Saint Martin.

the premise of this was complicated, and for the first hundred pages i didn't know what was going on—there was a "three days earlier..." section that focused completely on different characters. the plot was engaging, full of espionage and switched siblings.

i really loved all of the characters, and i wish there was more time spent on lysette and james.
