Kiara is an eighteen year old high school senior, stuck in her older sister's perfect shadow, and trying to find her own type of happiness. After a tough breakup from a cheating boyfriend, she's found a guy that can see through her fake smile, and makes her smile for real. Instantly in love, and truly happy for the first time, she ends up making a huge, drunken mistake. More heartache, great friends, an understanding dad, and a great singing voice to back her up, Kiara manages to get her happiness back, though it is only short lived.
This was a great little novella, and I'm so glad to have gotten the chance to read it. It shows the struggles and triumphs of high school life, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of a girl making her own way. I'm looking forward to the second, hoping that Kiara and Luke get a shot of making it work. And that her sister leaves the country!

Very good and easy read. I love the characters Kiara and Luke. I think you did a great job explaining them and their feelings and what they were going through. I don't want to give anything away but I would of definitely wanted to be Shay and beat Alanna ass. I'm so ready for the next one...

Eighteen year old Kiara is expected to be just like her older sister. She wants a normal senior year where she can be just herself. She is a depressed girl who hides her true feelings behind her fake smile and in her hideaway dead forest. Her boyfriend of two years does something horrible and they split. But, there is a new boy in town, can he make her smile real? Or does Alanna, Kiara's older sister threaten to ruin everything when she blows back in town? Between Justin the ex-boyfriend, her horrible mother , her crazy sister and the new guy her life couldn't get more turned upside down. Love at first sight can also be a bad thing.

I loved this story.....
I loved Kiera, Lucas(aka Luke),
Alanna just needs to go away with Justin so they can be dirtballs together. I mean, who does that, really!!!

I love Shay cuz she's the kind of best friend you'll always want around.

My favorite part is when Luke sings to Kiara in the cafeteria!! Totally cute!

Now I can't wait for the next book.....

Kiara has always live in her sister’s shadow. Her mom and friends are always reminding her of just how great Alanna is at everything. The daily reminders Kiara get is not needed, she knows Alanna is great at everything but being a sister. Alanna is self-absorbed and isn’t satisfied until she gets everything that Kiara has. Kiara’s has already ended a relationship with her boyfriend Justin because of Alanna. When Kiara meets Lucas, Alanna is determined to get to Lucas. What happens when the person you love meets the sister from hell? Lucas is keeping a secret from Alanna that could break her heart. Will he be able to stop Alanna from destroying their relationship or will Alanna succeed once more? What happens when the past comes back to haunt you? Do you fight to make it right or do you let it go.
This novel is definitely worth reading. It’s short, sweet and has the right amount of love and drama. I am sure you will love it as much as I have. I look forward to reading “My Plastered Smile” and future books by Author Crystal D. Spears.

Where to begin? I give the story 2.5 stars because there was too much stuff going on and it felt too rushed and disconnected. I got that Kiara held an appearance at school and felt differently inside, but it didn't seem genuine. Her emotions were scattered she was happy, then she wasn't or it wasn't real- I got a headache! I even understood her problems at home, but it felt lacking I wanted know more behind her feelings toward her mother and sister and why the two were such shrews- I do have to say I hate Alana!!! I thought it was weird that her dad got her an apartment just like that. I did like her connection with Luke that was genuine to me. I just felt sometimes it was too over the top I get it she was a talented singer, but come how many times can you compare it to angels singing? I could only take so much of "pretty girl" and "sexy man" over kill if you ask me. Maybe as the story progresses it will get better perhaps with Liam? Not sure if I want to continue reading the series.

I loved this book!! This is a book is about a girl (KIARA) who is always in her sisters (Alanna) shadow and never gets to be who she want to be. When she find out that her boyfriend slept with her sister she thinks she will never get someone that loves her for her. Then Lucas the new guy comes into town and he confronts her and says he knows her real smiles and not the fake ones she always uses. She falls in love very fast as does Lucas. Kiara kinda messes everything up when she gets caught drunk making out with her ex (Justin). Lucas can not forgive her. Finally after 3 months he cant stay away any longer. Finally getting her back something comes up to bit him in the butt. All Kiara wants to do is sing and be free of her sister and mother. There is so much more to tell you but dont want to spill to much. This is a very short story and cant wait till the next to see where Kiaras goes from here.

18-year-old Kiara projects a happy persona on the outside when she is really sad and depressed inside. Her boyfriend Justin slept with her sister Alanna. Lucas can tell right away when Kiara smiles her fake smile and he loves her real smile. Kiara's mother is always saying that she should be more like her older sister Alanna. Even when Kiara tells their mother that Alanna slept with Kiara's boyfriend, their mother says it is Kiara's own fault. The only times Kiara is truly happy is when she is singing or when she is with Lucas. Kiara and Lucas are so cute together I just can't stand it. Makes me smile too. Kiara's father is aware of how emotionally abused she is by her mother and he pays to have her move into her own apartment. Alanna starts threatening to steal away Lucas. This is a sweet, poignant, drama filled love story. Very cute.

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

This was a very sweet story with some great morals such as follow your heart, learn to trust and the big one, forgiveness. Although I would not be forgiving the sister ever! What starts off as a difficult breakup turns heartbreaking until new love is found in the most unsuspecting place. Sparks fly and the romance begins.. which does get really hot and heavy very quickly (Def over 17 read and there is a note from the author in the front of the book for good reason). This is one of those stories you follow along waiting for something to happen as it was almost too good to be true. And things happen.. love is tested.. and life continues. I can't wait to read volume 2!

My Real smile, is an amazing read, one that you can read over and over again. I loved Kiera and Luke. They are perfect together.
I do with that Alanna and Justin would just go away sometimes, but I love them begin around.

I love Kiera's best friend Shay, she is so that girl next door, a friend you would want to keep, she is so sweet.

Adding music into it made me fall in love with the book even more, I love when Luke sings to her. Who wouldn't want someone to sing to you?

I cant wait for the follow on in the story, the wait is killing me.

No spoilers here, but My Real Smile is so full of things we all think, feel, and do. Our lives are filled with pretense, and only true love, trust, and understanding reveal our true smiles. This is a sweet, sexy love story that Brings Kiera and Lucas through all the joys and pains of growing up. I absolutely loved that both viewpoints were presented. It made for a much more complete story. So many emotions, laughter and tears.

Love the back and forth view points of Kiara and Lucas! Justin ugh he needs to be slapped, "Nawww dudes we broke up a few weeks ago, I bagged Alanna before she left for college." he says with a snarky grin on his face." Lucas I loved he is sweet, caring and funny, "Nope pretty girl I'm not just a dumb jock." I really enjoyed this book it had my emotions all weird and everything! I thought it ended too soon, but I hear more is on the way so I can't wait!

I am not a fan of this book. The book was hard to read and follow. I really think it needs some editing.

Kiara and Luke's story felt rushed. Everything happened very quickly. Most of the story was not very believable. I did not connect with this story at all.
