Though I've been published in Regency Romance under the pseudonym Valerie King--and yes one of my Regency Novellas features a vampire--one day I woke up knowing I had to create my own contemporary world of the warrior vampire.
For some mystical, magical reason, early in the process, my vampires appeared with enormous beautiful wings and it has been the most amazing experience to include flight in my novels, in both battle scenes and scenes involving spectacle. My special vampire world, published by St. Martin's Press, is introduced in the first book called, ASCENSION (12-28-2010). The second book, BURNING SKIES (May of 2011), opens up the world a little bit more. And even as I write this, I'm on the final draft of my third novel, WINGS OF FIRE (September of 2011). What a thrill it has been to live with my ascended vampires through the creation of this extraordinary, multi-dimensional world!

Take one commitment-phobe vampire and one part-human part-fae who have been dancing around each other for two years. What you get is a short story filled with passion and history. There is no insta-love with this story, instead, it's been building between them for two years before either of them realises what it is. Of course, it takes the presence of very real danger to both of them to make them realise but this just gives the story some action.
A quick read, full of steam. Definitely recommended.

Thea's mother went into the Bogg Woods and became ill, in order to save her mother she needs a healing amulet that the vampire Gabriel owns.Gabriel is a French vampire who is over 200 years old and has desired Thea for a few years. Thea has been lonely since her husband died 5 years previous but will she give into Gabriel's desires?
This is a steamy, very short read about master vapmires and women who desire them. While I love vampire stories and love Caris Roane books I found this too short. Just as I got into it it was over. If you love short reads that can be read in an hour or so then this is for you.

This novella is a vampire romance, but for adults. The lady who seeks a healing amulet from a powerful vampire is willing to be his lover, if that is the price to heal her mother. This man is a benign vampire, fortunately, but others are not.
Plenty of tensions and adult romance scenes. Some strong language.

As they undertake a journey to retrieve the amulet, things turn deadly for them and only together can they hope to survive. As things unfold, they each begin to realize their feelings.
I loved this short read. It is unbelievably packed with well-developed characters and a full story within the pages. I liked that they have known each other for awhile already as this story begins. This is another read by this author that I highly recommend.

A short review for a very short story..
Caris Roane is one of my favorite authors and she has a way of writing Vampires that could make even the most ardent vampire hater fall in love..
"Wicked Night is part of the Amulet Trilogy, three shorter novellas set in the world of the amulet in which Master Vampires protect and use powerful amulets to keep their tribes safe."
What this trilogy offers is sex.. pure and simple. While it has a secondary storyline this book explores the steamier side of Vampirism. We all know that even from the beginning of the Vampire genre, they were sexy, beyond sexy (I still melt when I watch Dracula with Frank Langella). Usually Caris uses sex as part of the story.. but this time, the sex really is the story.
I was not prepared for this and at times it was a bit off putting. To me, this was not one of Caris' best works. It wasn't the sex it was the lack of story and the stilted dialog. But once I got past that.. I was able to enjoy this book for what it was. Well written erotica...

What starts out as a mission to get a amulet to save her mother turns into something else with it is the thrilling read contained in these pages. Thea goes to Gabriel a master vampire for to obtain the amulet needed for healing but since bartering is involved they must go somewhere else to obtain it. Since they do know each other plus she is human and fae one that could be habit forming. They each though have deep feelings for each other and this author takes you on their journey to obtain the amulet that will also be mixed with enough heat to have forged another one. It is drama filled too one that will end up being gripping with that heat even though it is quickly devoured. How they accomplish it all will filled to the brim with what all dynamic paranormal romance is all about. The ending will be one that if you were a cat it would be like you just finished a delicious bowl of cream cleaning your whiskers for every last drop. Received a copy for a honest review.

Wow! I love Caris Roane' s books and this didn't disappoint! I just love Vampires. What's not to love about a hot, alpha, romantic, protective, passionate,caring, master vampire. And that is exactly what Gabriel was. Gabriel had been pursuing Thea with no luck until she needed a favor that threw them together. This book was hot and steamy with a great storyline. This is a great book to read over a couple of hours and great if you like a little suspense or action thrown in. I highly recommend. This very quick read told the tale of a master vampire who begins his day (or night) set on seducing a woman and ends up with way more than he bargained for.
Gabriel is a master vampire and, as such, has access to magical amulets. Thea, the woman who has captivated Gabriel for a while, ends up approaching him for a healing amulet. When it becomes time to pay, they quickly fall into bed. What began as a simple exchange rapidly grows into so much more. There's some sizzling alpha male scenes in here, some fighting, some horrible violence against human women, and, thankfully, a good HEA.

I really enjoyed this book, it was very fast paced but also detailed you feel as if you know exactly what you are looking at through the characters eyes. Starts of quickly and right to the point, and continues to propel you through the story. I have read other of the Blood Rose series and while this is in the Amulet series the two are very closely related if you like the Blood Rose series you'll enjoy this one as well. I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I can't wait to read the rest of the series! Definitely captures you and draws you into the story which is all you can ask of a story I think,

This is the story of the master vampire Gabriel and the human-fae Thea. He didn't want to be bound to any woman. It always meant constant arguing between the two who were bound. That didn't stop him from wanting her in his bed for the past two years. Even better now that she wants a healing amulet from him. Is she willing to trade her time for the amulet?
This is book one in the Amulet series, which is a series of fantastic shorts. Great story and I can't wait for more.

This was a very good short read of 39 pages . Gabriel, is of French descent, and master vampire of the Reavenshire tribe. Thea a human/fae comes to him, in need of his tribe’s healing amulet to save her mother who has gone into the bogg-woods to give a witch that has helped her the Witch's Flower but now she is very sick . Gabriel has wanted Thea for two years now, and now he has a way to have her. The Amulet is not with Gabriel so they set out to get it . They have nice vampire's and not so nice that they meet and maybe a love that will keep each other from harm! What happens ? I was gifted a copy for an honest review barwatts@telus.net

I was gifted this ARC for a honest and truthful review. As a Master Vampire Gabriel took care of his tribe in a deep underground cavern. At night he would listen to his people's problems to help them. Tonight the widow Thea was in front of his thorn pleading for an amulet that he could give her. In this book Caris Roane writings flows through in a rhythm together with the characters that turns Obsession into Love , Protection, Adventure and of course always Hot Steamy Sex. This might be a short read BUT we'll worth it.

The first book in Caris Roanes' Amulet series is a powerful account of Gabriel, a Master Vampire and Thea, a Fae, that bargains with him for a healing amulet. Amulets created by Master Vampires are desired by good and evil alike and so are guarded and gifted only by them. Gabriel and Thea's intense attraction for each other literally scorches the pages and the culmination of their minds and bodies make this story hot, hot, hot. Ms. Roane's vivid imagination and spirited storytelling makes this a great beginning to the series.

I enjoyed book 1 of the Amulet Series and can't wait to continue with book 2. Although this was a short read, it didn't feel like anything was left out. There is clearly some type of relationship between the two main characters, Gabriel and Thea. This was not a instant love type of thing. The two were clearly attracted to each other but had some reason to keep some distance between them. There was just the right amount of steamy good times in the book, nothing too outrageous. I've been a fan of Caris Roane and this just proves that she rocks at paranormal romance.

If you like vampires, romance and great writing then you need to read everything written by Caris Roane! This book is very short but packed with action and passion. It’s amazing how quickly she can develop the characters into well rounded and lovable “people”. Her ability to describe the hot vampires makes me want one of my own!! I definitely recommend reading this novella!

Predating the Blood Rose Tales, this short story provides an additional facet to the BR series. I enjoyed the dynamics between the Master Vampire and the human/fae widow he has patiently courted for two years. Because these are short stories, they move quickly, but are packed with passion and adventure. I definitely recommend the books and am happy to add them to my reread list.

Wicked Night is a the first novella in the Amulet Series and tells the story of the ancient vampire Gabriel and his desires for a beautiful human/fae woman named Thea. This story may be short but it has a wonderful storyline that keeps you engrossed from the very first page.

Love this fast read but sexy none the less. Gabriel a master vampire goes against everything he believes for the love a human who is part fae. But to the surprise of them both she finds she belongs to his world as she comes into her own powers.

Gifted copy for honest review.
I really enjoyed Wicked Night. This story is about Gabriel and Thea. Thea needs a healing amulet from Gabriel to heal her mother. This a great short love story. I recommend it.

I have many Roane novels under my belt and all are worth exploring. The amulet Series is a short read but still delivers rewarding characters and adventure. Wicked Nights include Vamp Gabriel and Thea on a trail to locate the healing amulet.

Wicked Night, the first novella in “The Amulet Series” was a very good read. Did like the characters of Gabriel and Thea. A more in-depth feeling to this storyline would have been better.

A sexy start to The Amulet Series. This may be a short story but has plenty of action and very sexy. The chemistry between Gabriel and Thea is on fire. I couldn’t put it down. Loved It!
