When the FBI brings Laura Roberts – a quiet, reserved bookkeeper – in for questioning regarding activities at the warehouse where she works, an uneasy Laura resigns her job – only to be attacked by thugs.

Chase doesn’t want to believe his father could hurt anyone. Laura doesn’t understand why she’s a target. Can they learn to work together to discover the truth – before someone dies?
This is the firs book that I read from Angela Adams. I really enjoyed it right from the beginning. Magic Moment was an entertaining read with a good story and characters.
It was great to read a story set in NJ/Philadelphia area. There are not many books set in that area ~ especially Atlantic City and the surrounding shore area.
I liked Chase and Laura and that their relationship formed pretty fast due to certain circumstances. I thought that they were so cute together although I felt like kicking Chase more than once because of his back and forth about his dad's involvement in Laura's kidnapping.
Stories with misunderstandings that separate the hero and heroine or how the hero and heroine let outside influences damage their growing relationship and trust in one another always interest me. It's the whole boy meets girl~they fall in love~breakup~get back together with a fair amount of groveling~then get their HEA. Love these types of stories.
Light easy read with a few nail biting moments and some steamy scenes thrown in.
Love this cover!!
3 out of 5 rating. Will look for more from this author. :)

Romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres. I love the action, mystery and seeing two people thrown together in a high stress situation. Magic Moments by Angela Adams was a fun ride, filled with danger and a romance featuring one of my favorite tropes.
The set up for Magic Moments is an excellent one. Laura is approached, detained and questioned by the FBI in regards to her bookkeeping job and the dockside Fruit Company, who employs her. It scares her, and she hands in her resignation. These events have her kidnapped, drugged and tied to a bed inside a sailboat. As she prepares herself for the unthinkable Chase Donovan rescues her. He owns the boat where she was attacked and is the son of her former employer. The thugs claim Donovan’s Dad hired them, but Chase is having a hard time believing his father would ever hurt Laura. Laura is not sure if she can trust Chase, but the two decide to work together to find the truth.
The tale that unfolds was captivating. Adams used a few of my favorite tropes including the marriage arrangement, but she added her own unique twists. The relationship that developed between Laura and Chase resembled insta-love at the beginning and I rolled my eyes. However, Adams slowed things down and allowed them to grow, and flounder as a couple before declarations of undying love. The romance itself is sweet, fade to black and will have broad appeal. The investigation was interesting with several well crafted plot twists. The FBI and the family relationship made for some exciting developments. Chase and Laura are an attractive couple, but their relationship is a rocky one. Miscommunication, emotions and family meddling created some turbulence in the middle of this ride. I may have wanted to smack them both in the back of the head a time or too, but there is growth and I genuinely cared about them. The tale started off intense, meandered in the middle and took off during the last portion of the book as the tension escalated. I closed this book satisfied with the ride.
Laura Roberts has worked with Chase Donovan for years and while she has always been aware of him, nothing has ever come of it. Chase, though he appreciates Laura’s good looks, has a strict no fraternization policy. Regardless, he does care for her. When she is pulled in by FBI agents, he offers to come to her aid as her attorney. She declines. Instead, after her FBI meeting, she immediately resigns from the company. She doesn’t expect to hear from any of her coworkers again. And she doesn’t, until she attacked and nearly killed. Chase bursts onto the scene and thwarts the attack, not realizing its Laura. When he does, his protective instincts kick in, until he realizes she believes his father was behind the attack. Chase, not wanting to destroy his family’s reputation, and Laura, too embarrassed to go to the authorities, take to the open seas to figure out what is going on. It is here that they begin to realize just what they feel for each other, though of course they cannot admit it. As their time onboard the boat begins to turn into something more, they make a rash decision that with affect their entire future – if they live long enough to find out.
I enjoyed Magic Moment more than I expected too. I thought the story line sounds a bit cliché, but I was pleasantly surprised with the turn it took. It is just original enough to keep the reader going. Both Laura and Chase are believable characters. Laura is the more likeable of the two, as Chase is a bit too typically “male” during some moments (especially when he whines about women’s hysterics). And don’t get me started on that man’s stubbornness, but I think we can classify that as a typical male trait . However, I was rooting for the two of them the entire novel and I was pleased with where they ended up. Their situations were realistic enough to keep from bordering on ridiculous, but extreme enough to keep it interesting. Ms. Adams writing flowed well, with only a few hitches here and there. Laura’s desires might grate against some of the more feminist women out there, but they are perfectly reasonable and understandable (I can even identify with her vision of the future). Overall, I liked Magic Moment, it is a sweet, suspenseful read. I will definitely follow up with Angela Adams in the future – she is worth a second chance!
Fans of suspense will find this an entertaining journey to find out whodunit while trying to save the heroine and staying one step ahead of the bad guys. The mystery is well done in its creation of a nefarious get-rich-easy plan where all the players are well hidden and innocent people are put in harm's way. The conclusion to the mystery is well-paced, heart-pounding, with a conclusion resulting in sacrifice. It was a rousing ending that kept me on the edge of my seat.
Where I felt a bit less satisfied was with the character of mild-mannered accountant Laura. She unknowingly witnesses a crime and thinks she can go back to the life she once knew. She's attacked and has her life threatened and still thinks she can forget about it and pick up where she was. Luckily playboy Chase rescues her and convinces her of the stupidity of that plan, but gives her an option that's even more over-the-top. Marry him and get pregnant in order to keep her safe. She's more than okay with the plan as she's felt lonely for a long time. She's not had many romantic relationships in life as she spent a lot of time caring for her mother before she died. She set aside her dreams for her mother and is now being given the chance at another dream which has her jumping into it wholeheartedly. As the story progresses though she gets more and more paranoid which makes her a bit whiny and annoying with all the pregnancy hormones coursing through her body. She constantly thinks the worse of Chase though he's done nothing but protect her.
Chase was always the playboy, partying and never caring where the money came from. He shied away from responsibility and long-term commitment, but Laura brings out his protective instincts and something about her calls to his soul and has him wanting to claim her no matter what. He at first doesn't want to believe the worst of his father but the evidence keeps mounting in a race to bring the bad guys to justice with him putting his life in danger to protect his new-found family. No matter his past Chase jumped into his role of hero easily. He might not have always said or did the most romantic things but he always put Laura first. I found him endearing and my heart broke for his having to realize the truth about his father.
This story had a strong start and ending, but the middle dragged as these two weary travelers journeyed to one port after another acting like tourists and trying to get pregnant. With their lives in danger these acts didn't ring true for me. They should've been in hiding making themselves untraceable. It did give them time to bond as a couple but the story lost sight of the mystery and it slowed down the feelings of suspense. On a whole this story kept me interested, though it often felt like a Lifetime movie. The romance was nicely balanced with the mystery and I was immensely satisfied with the ending as it displayed a wide range of emotions. This was my first book by Ms. Adams but won't be my last.
**Review written for an originally posted on my blog, Book Bliss. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased and honest review.** Review: 3.5 stars
General: It was fun reading a book that took place in an unconventional area. I think it added a bit of originality and fun to the book because as a reader (even though I live an hr away) seeing the area in such a light was fun. I thought the mystery element in here was well done. There were plenty of moments when I switched my “Oh I know who it is moment”, but as always never judge a mystery on me being able to figure out who did it, because I’ve read so many my brain just figures it out. The story jumped right in which I absolutely loved. However there was a lot of scenes that felt like filler in the middle that in my opinion could have been flushed out a bit more.
The romance was thrown in very quickly and I felt that did hurt it a little bit because you didn’t have as much time to get to know them as a individuals to see why they needed to be together. I thought Chase was a great character- I like the playboys because they’re cocky and fun and the pairing with uptight Laura was expected but still good.
Characters: Laura- Laura was very unimpressive to me, but I think it was on purpose. She held a job most people view as needed but boring. She also was very mopey and poor me. She should have reacted differently in my opinion to what she went through- both the crime and then the craziness that Chase presented her. But overall you could feel the chemistry between them and as she began to losen up a bit and deal with what her life had become she became a much better character.
Chase- Chase was the male that I loved for his cocky and quirkiness. But his actual plan for himself and Laura? I wanted to throttle him. It really irked me, as I think it should when that’s the plan to save someone’s life. I think it fit wonderfully with the playboy, slight ass, of an image that I got the vibe of from him. Still every bit the alpha I liked the way the two traits played out in creating the “family man” he was.

If you enjoy romance with a little/a lot of suspense thrown in you just may enjoy this story from Ms. Adams. Taken from her boring life as a bookkeeper we find Laura in the midst of an investigation that throws her into the arms of ‘Handsome’ Chase Donovan.
Chase the son of the boss. Chase is the stereotypical playboy…money, women, alcohol along with the carefree life. That is until he finds himself needing to get away…where he then finds himself saving Laura from her imminent fate.
Ms. Adam touches on a whole gamut of feelings within a short amount of time for Chase and Laura but it works. Makes you believe that there are ‘magic moments’ when you don’t expect them.
I loved the two taking off on a boat where they headed down the coastline to find a safe haven but would have liked more detail/description of the trip. Other than the school of dolphins it was just a trip in a boat. With no other boats around…seemed a little farfetched.
The characters although a little vague were likable enough. I simply would have loved to hear more about Aunt Lonnie she seemed like a character. Even with the way the story was written and the introduction of many into the storyline you could feel what each was going through. Ms. Adams did a nice job conveying the depth of feelings. As a reader you could feel the pain that Laura was going through when being roughed up by the hired killers. You even at times felt a little bit sorry for Chase dad Dick.
Overall the story was written well capturing you attention, making you feel for the characters without going into too many details.
Chase Donovan intends to spend a few peaceful days on his boat getting his head together – and finds a woman being assaulted by two men who say his father told them to do it.
What I loved: I loved the attention-grabbing opening, and how the main character, Laura, is taken from an ordinary life and plunged into adventure. The initiating event, where Laura’s life is endangered and Chase rescues her is exciting and detailed, setting the scene for more intrigue. The fact that Chase’s father might be involved only heightens the tension. Angela Adams provides details and imagery that clearly paint the characters and setting. Chase and Laura are well developed and read true to life.
What I wanted more of: It’s hard to talk about some of the plot elements without giving away spoilers. I thought the relationships between Chase and Laura developed too quickly (insta-love) while the action is left on the back burner after the initiating event. And I wanted more action and adventure for Laura and Chase early on! Then I couldn’t quite believe how easily Laura accepts Chase’s suggestion on how to keep her safe…but you will have to read to find out. While the emotions seem real between them, some of the relationship complications come about quickly and with little thought by the characters.
And finally: A well written fun romantic thriller, that focuses more on the romance. If you want to really get to know two interesting characters, Chase and Laura, Magic Moment is for you.
I picked up this book on a whim. The blurb sounded interesting, and I like a good romantic suspense book. It wasn't quite up to where I wanted it to be. The main characters just clashed constantly and then made up as if nothing ever happened. It was weird, and the way they got together was a convoluted plot device that made no sense to me. I don't know. It seemed to me like there were easier ways of going about...everything.
Laura Roberts is a bookkeeper for fruit distributer. When the FBI drags her in and questions her about the owner's activities, she freaks and resigns, which triggers a series of events that snowballs into being attacked. Her savior? Chase Donovan--the son of her former boss. She doesn't know whether to trust him or not, but they soon end up working together so that Laura stays alive.
I don't want to go into it much more because I feel like I'll start throwing out spoilers, but yeah. The book was okay. Just okay. There were interesting parts. There were dry parts. The fights between the main characters got old quickly. Honestly, there are so many more great romantic suspense books out there that make a lot more sense, but you can get some enjoyment out of this book. I'll leave it at that.
This is a cute whimsical romance with dangerous undertones. I found Chase to be the typical oblivious guy with money, having that slightly innocent personality. He sweeps in to be the knight in shining armor just in time to rescue Laura. These two do the back and forth dance during the drama of Laura being in danger because of Chase's fathers actions. They do come up with a far different than normal solution for keeping Laura safe temporarily. You get a bit of the fairy tale feel as they run away from the world on a boat. I was given this story for an honest review and this is mine.
I enjoyed this romantic suspense story although it did include violence, foul language and sexual content. It also had humor and a happily ever after. The main characters were young but grew up a lot during the story. I was surprised a few times during the story and was pleasantly surprised by the ending. I gave this a 4* rating. All in all, I think I would enjoy more of this authors work.
