“Unknown vessel, leave Arvex Station Atlas territory immediately. Or just stay very still, maybe.”
Tez and her silent enemy had been at each other's throats for months, trying to shoot each other from the orbit of Arvex.
She always thought of the intruder as “it” because they were taught to eschew the enemy’s humanity for as long as possible. She’d studied its flight patterns intricately… maybe a little obsessively. It was an object—a target.
But then her target sent both of them crashing to the surface of the uninhabitable planet she was meant to be guarding. Now, trapped together in the remnants of a cramped fighter craft, Tez finds herself face-to-face with her enemy for the first time.
Fear grips her, yet it's not his forceful grip on her wrists as he towers over her that sends shivers down her spine. It's the electric charge that crackles between them, immobilizing her under the weight of his penetrating gaze.
Tez has been suppressing her compulsive curiosity about who exactly was in that enemy cockpit for weeks. Now, she's faced with the real thing... And he might be her downfall.
Downfall: Enemies to Lovers Sci-Fi Romance is a steamy novella in which seething animosity intertwines with undeniable desire within the tightest of spaces.
I enjoyed this story immensely. It is short, but packs a wallop in the way of action. Takes awhile for the reader to realise both characters were human, but that is the mystery of where the tale is taking you. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review
Tez (h) works as a fighter pilot for Hydra Company defending a space station in a months long cat-and-mouse game with an unknown enemy combatant, she’s come to nickname Gnat. When a battle incident sends them both hurtling to the harsh planet below, Tez finds herself captured by Stag (H) and brought aboard his fighter craft. Forced together with limited supplies and oxygen, their relationship morphs into something much deeper as they explore a physical relationship with one another. Tez is surprised by Stag’s real purpose and what he hopes to achieve. Hot and steamy enemies to lovers romantic quickie with a bit of angst.
If your looking for a quick read, with some action, steamy scenes and a well rounded plot, this is the book for you.
At only a hundred or so pages Norton was able to pack alot into the story. Even going so far as giving us an enemy to lovers trope, that worked really well.
Tez is strong female lead and the appropriate amount of submissiveness to balance her out. Stag, domineering and the right amount of bossiness to give him appeal without being over-bearing. I loved them to together.
Colossal is my next stop.

I absolutely loved how the enemies to lovers trope in the story was built. It’s a short read, but it’s a perfect palate cleanser for in between books. I look forward to reading more from this author!

Me encantó esa energía.
This novella was a blast to read! I absolutely loved the enemies-to-lovers relationship between Tez, our FMC, and Stag, our MMC. It constantly oscillates between passionate and sweet in the best way.
Tez is a pilot who is essentially a corporate cog in the machine. Her primary motivation, at least in the beginning, is that she wants to do everything by the book, get recognized for her good work, and get promoted at her job. Over the course of the book, and with the help of a sexy space pirate, she comes into her own and begins questioning everything she was led to believe. Her internal struggles are extremely relatable, and I love how her character develops over the course of the story.
Stag, the aforementioned sexy space pirate, is a really interesting character with unclear motives early on. But as he and Tez spend more time together stranded on a deserted planet, his true noble character quickly reveals itself.
I found it impressive that such a short story could pack such a huge punch. The plot felt fully developed, and I was super invested in the story from the very beginning. The author did a really good job of raising the stakes and building up tension. The romantic relationship was believable, and the multiple spicy scenes were really well-written. Overall, I loved this story and would definitely recommend.

Tez was a strong pilot, not willing to give up when fighting with an enemy. She had been taught to de-humanize the enemy and think of it as merely a target to be brought down and defeated. She had battled with this one for months now. Stag was her current enemy. She had no idea what “it” was like, nor did she care. But he a man who cared about others and would not hesitate to put his own life at risk for someone.
When Keeton interfered and shot her down, Stag was not happy. It didn’t seem fair. Then they both ended up crashing on the planet below. He had seen her eject and actually felt proud of her! This mission seemed to be driving him a little crazy. His landing gear was stuck, so he crashed hard into the ground. With comms not working, he could not communicate a rescue request. His ship would not be able to lift off if he could even fix it; but hers could. However, she had ejected so he needed to find it and see what he could do about repairs. Arvex had no breathable atmosphere, and he was sure she would freeze to death without shelter. So after trying to kill each other for months, Stag was going to try to find and save her. They would at last meet each other. How would they react to each other? Would they work together to get off the dangerous planet? Or would their fight just continue on the planet until they ran out of their oxygen supply?
This was a quick and easy book and I loved the banter and the dog fights between two very talented pilots. Tessa (Tez) is a human female and a badass pilot who works for the Hydra Company and it’s her job to protect the Space Station and the Planet Arvex from the enemy and there is a enemy she has been duelling with for months now and she has studying his moves as a pilot trying to take him down but she often wonders what he looks like. Stag is a male that has been fighting with a female pilot for months now and her sexy and husky voice stars in his dreams at night but she keeps interfering with him trying to help everyone and now they have both crashed landed on the Planet Arvex and he watched her eject out of her ship and with his damaged he needs to find her to see if they can fix one and get off this non breathable Planet but he must save the female before she freezes and now she is his hostage and the longer they are together the hotter there attraction gets and when the lines get blurred and they have some hot and steamy times she soon realizes he is not what she thought he was but can they work together for the same goal and can they have a future together or not.

This book was written in such a way that it was easy to "see" what was occurring. It is something I can see as a movie. The descriptions of the fire fights between the jets was great. It was not hard to imagine a planet like this where the air is unbreathable and the terrain is rough. Tez was badass! She was a determined pilot and a strong woman with goals to make it up the ladder of the company of the rich. Stag was a man determined to make the lives of others better, putting his life at risk without hesistation. Tez and Stag spend months in aerial "dog fights", challenging each other and nearly killing each other. Despite how the two unofficially "met", they ended up meshing well together, intellectually and physically. I look forward to reading the next part of this new world where there is no earth, water is scarce and colonies are popping up everywhere. If you like a space adventure with some romance thrown in, this is your next read.

Downfall is a good entry point novella to the upcoming Hearts with Teeth series by author Alexandra Norton. MFC Tessa (Tez) works for the Hydra Company on a station orbiting and guarding the former water mining planet Arvex that is consistently being attacked by mysterious intruders. After months of this with no logical reasons for their cat and mouse games Tez has become familiar with one of the strafing ships she and the other pilots call gnat and though there is no communication between them she feels a strange connection with the enemy pilot which comes to a head one day after another attack and she along with enemy MMC Stag crashes on the planet where the story opens up with some surprise reveals, action and spice in a well written and excellently imagined Sci-Fi Romance. I am looking forward to continuing this series as this one was an exciting tease of what is yet to be revealed in this new and engaging world.

Wow, this short prelude to Alexandra Norton's new series "Heart with Teeth" series hooked me right away! I can't wait to get into Book 1, "Collassal: Dark Romance in Deep Space."
Tessa is a guard for a mining station in space, who is tasked with keeping pesky pirates away from Arvex Station Atlas, as it is in the stages of packing up the last equipment to move to another mining operation. She is eager to be gone with a new assignment, but one annoying pirate, whom she calls "the gnat," keeps coming back. What transpires puts these two together in a life-threatening scenario, where these two must work together to survive.
I loved the chemistry between Tessa and Stag, alias: "The gnat." She is a skilled pilot and a fiesty, determined woman. Stag comes across as a bit of a Rouge, but there is more to him than we initially see.
This is a quick, short read, but there is a great plot, one that will allow entire series to spin. I look forward to seeing where this author will take the rest of this story.
This is a hot prequel to an upcoming new series and it is quite enjoyable. The best part is the two main characters, Tessa and Stag. I loved the way they unwilling gravitated to each other, forming a connection that was intense and emotional. Tessa is so incredibly strong and I love how Stag appreciates that in her. I really wish we’d had more time with them as everything seemed rushed, especially the last few chapters, and a little vague and incomplete. Since I have no idea where Alexandra is going with this series, I will have to wait and see how it relates to this prequel. Alexandra doesn’t stick to formula and instead likes to write unique stories so this could go anywhere. I’ll stay with her, though. I’m sure this is going to be another great ride.
Tez, the female lead, is part of the final defence force for a mined planet as the last pieces are removed. Her team has been warding off pirates but then her fighter is shot down to the planet with inhospitable antmosphere and one of the pirate ships comes down too.
Stag, the male lead, is a distant descendant of a commander of an abandoned colony ship. Having got it to start, they’re trying to make it functional and resourced.
They should be enemies but they’re expecting to die and they’ve been working tactically against each other for a while…
This novella is dual POV, well written and edited, and an interesting world building tale which is a prequel for the author’s next series. I enjoyed the world and the situation. I enjoyed the character and relationship development. I enjoyed the intimate scenes. I would have liked the story to be longer but it is a prequel. I’m looking forward to the series.

4/5 stars Heat rating: 3/5 peppers My thoughts: I really enjoyed this story type. I love the forced proximity enemies to lover’s trope. I think this novella managed to feel like a longer story than it was (which is always a good thing for a novella), plus it had some spice which in my opinion is always a bonus. I really liked Stag’s character. My only wish for this story is that it was longer, I really wanted more of their story. I thought this story worked perfectly to draw the reader in to read future books in the series. I plan to revisit this series later to read more. For any readers looking for a novella sized enemies to lovers’ science fiction romance, give this story a try.

Tez is a pilot tasked with protecting an almost defunct space station from the regular harassment of assumed pirates. When she is shot down in one of these dogfights with one of the pirates, she is forced to rely on her enemy, Stag, to survive on the hostile planet. Stag is more than what he seems and his goals are not what Tez was expecting. But can their budding attraction survive their surroundings or even a rescue?
Downfall is an excellent novella in which two enemies find love. Trust is hard earned and while the initial sexual interaction seems a little far-fetched, the rest of the relationship is reasonable and enjoyable. A fun read.

Ok. This is a quick and enjoyable read. The only thought in my head right now is how HOT Stag sounds. Holy camoly! Uber sexy. And Tez is a badass. This was a fun story. And i look forward to reading more from this series. The ending seemed a little too…easy, but I’m figuring that will come up in future books? Anyway, i thoroughly enjoyed this quick scifi enemies to lovers novella (and that’s saying something because that might be my least favorite trope - typically one of the “enemies” is portrayed as so obnoxious that I detest seeing them become lovers. But that didn’t happen here).

This sci-fi romance was an enjoyable read that I received a copy and I volunteer to review. This enemy to lover story is about Tessa/Tez and Stag. Tez a pilot is defending the Planet Arvex and its space station when her enemy Stag appears. Stag feels a usual attraction to his enemy. They battle which causes their ships to plunge toward Planet Arvex which is unbreathable. Both ships are damaged. Stag concerned about Tez searches for her with a plan to fix one ship by combining their ships. Can they work together to escape the planet? The characters were engaging, the story was enjoyable and engaging to read.
I am not usually a fan of Novella length stories because they lack detail and a coherent flow. Downfall does NOT fall into this category! From page one I was in love with the detail given to the characters and each action taking place. The writing paints an intense picture, where I could "see" what was happening. I was extremely pleased that it did not end in a cliffhanger!
I highly recommend Downfall to any SCIFI and Romance readers looking for a quick and complete story!

Super short, light weight, enemies-to-lovers story. Supposed to be sci-fy, but both main characters were human, protective bubble around station was 50 miles (?), planet was hot at night and cold during the day .... Having said that, this short novella is part of a bigger universe, so it makes sense that this feels like a side-chapter. I will read more of this author if longer pieces have more depth and complexity. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The ending was a little breezy/pat, but the rest of the book more than made up for it! I absolutely loved this book. These two were fantastic together. She's been thinking of him as a gnat for weeks...and he's been dreaming about her husky voice over comms. :D :D :D The uneasy truce they come to, and then the fake-out betrayal...this book has it all and I loved every minute of it!.

Tez and Stag are pilots. Tez had a job working to keep her company’s space station safe from the enemy. Stag and his ship were classified as the enemy. They end up crashing on a planet and have to cooperate with each other to survive. Loved the plot and the HEA.
The novella-sized story had plenty of action, spice, and snark; mostly from Tez. I liked her sense of humor.

Best enemies to lovers I’ve ever read The characters are so real! This author has a way of bringing, especially male characters, to life. I understand what he has been through and why he is brutal and sympathise with him. He isn’t just a thug who enjoys it. I feel his need to be gentle and loving and protective, but it also confuses and scares him. Safe to say that I enjoyed it and recommend it and plan to read everything she has written ☺️😁

Loved Tessa and Stag’s story. So much plot in this one, so so many directions to go. Good backstories for each of them brought them together in such an explosive way. They complement each other and are the one for the other. Their passion was so hot as well. So good!.

Downfall was good. I’m funny about novellas but this one was good. The author wrote a compelling and interesting sci-fi romance. Around a 100 pages I finished it in one sitting and was impressed. The romance had chemistry and Stag’s possessiveness for her was excellent. It all really worked for me and I liked the world building. I’m definitely reading the next book ASAP.
Good sci-fi romance with just the right length and amount of space battles, banter, twists and steam, a HEA and it's "just" a prequel. Looking forward to the next book. Recommended.
