another case of “I‘m not actually your enemy, I don’t even hate you I just can’t communicate my feelings and now you think I don’t like you so you don’t like me”.

I came for the cozy fall atmosphere and I got.. not all that much. The small town vibe was there and I actually enjoyed it a lot but unless I’ve forgotten a crucial part of the setting (no promises my brain is pure chaos) I could’ve read this book just as well in spring.
When Sadie loses her job and moves back into her parents house (even if only temporarily) she feels like she’s hit rock bottom. Just the right time for her college “nemesis” (or whatever) James to film his new tv show in her small town. A total disaster since he hates her. Or at least that’s what Sadie thinks.
I liked how Sadie left her comfort zone in the end and how James went above and beyond to support her and make her believe in herself.
They also had some good tension.. which led to no spice. Which I respect.
(It just would’ve been fun to see that “enemies” tension in action yk)
The pacing was okay but a little too slow for my liking.
All in all it’s a nice (seasonal) small town read but for someone as pea size brained as me it’s unfortunately a 7 on the forgettable scale.

ALMOST DEFINITELY NEVER is Book 2 of 2 in the Jasmine Falls Love Stories series. It can easily be read as a standalone as well. I am a mood reader and I read this one just at the right time! I needed a break from the thrillers I was reading at the time and this rom com was absolutely perfect for that! Definitely some humor in this story and some not-so-spicy romance, which was great. Lucy Day is clearly a gifted writer and I can see this book being a big hit!

I was given an ARC for this and in return - my review.
This book grabbed me right away. I loved the concept and second-chance romance. (Sucker for it). I wasn’t feeling the ENEMIES part of their romance all that much, I think it’d be better classified as rivals-to-lovers, but that’s beside the point.
The romance in this will squeeze your heart in the best way, and maybe break it a little at some points. I love the dialogue in this story. My only complaint is that Gwen is supposed to be Sadie’s best friend, but you don’t see much of her :( other wise, the book was AMAZING!!!

it’s a nah from me.
I thought I liked this book until I finished it and then realized how disappointed I was. This female main character truly could use a therapist, like has actual baggage that should be worked out. It was the slowest burn of all time with almost no payout. Like over 90% until anything remotely took place. Fairly unbelievable plot line took over the whole story.

Sadie got sack on her job so she had to stay with her parents and help her mother’s inn while the parents went away on a trip. then BAM BAM BAM her old enemy came back🦅🦅🦅 because he too is trying to trying to reach for this one last chance before his career end (because of his ex spreading false rumours about him to the press) BAM BAM BAM. She hated him then she hated him now because she thought hes still the obnoxious bitch she met in college but he WAS OBLIVIOUS and still couldn’t understand why she hates him.

Man he really want her attention at him since college. The way he timed her movement. The way he trying to fit in with her friend group just to be close to her and the way that he sign up for ballroom dancing BECAUSE OF her.
But can i just say that he was engaged with her ex (Melanie) broke it off when found out she cheated but deep down he still in love with Sadie (man’s first love theory never failed me)
“𝑵𝒐 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒆𝒍𝒔𝒆 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒄𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒄𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝑯𝒂𝒓𝒑𝒆𝒓. 𝑰 𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒎𝒚𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑰’𝒎 𝒂𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖. 𝑰𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒚.”
But the conflict is so back and off it makes me gaslight myself into thinking ima stupid. Omh the miscommunication is hella HELL liKE BURN ME OFF. I cannot do this because what the fuck the back and forth u guys need to speak the fuck up MOTHERFUVKER. Sadie self esteem at this point is so fucking annoying. Like 50 pages before ending she still have that damn fucking low self esteem LIKE GIRL THEY DIDNT SAY THAT? THE REASON WHY UR JOB HAD A BACK UP PERSON IS BECAUSE THEY DONT KNOW IF U WANT IT OR NOT. FUCK UR SELF ESTEEM AT THIS POINT. Talking to sadie is like talking to a doll.. nothing gets in the head. Its fucking exhausting reading their love story. At first the book is good but then longer i read the more dreadful i become be because its dragging. His way of getting over rejected (college era) is to date other girl like boy JUST SHOOT FOR THE STAR. The same mistake he did in the last pages is the same he made when he left college and not spilling his heart to Sadie.. its fuckinggggggg annoyinghh
I really thought that it would be a 5 star read for me at first. Disappointed in myself

Sadie and James Fielding
She was let go from her Park Ranger job. She’s back with her parents running their Inn while they are on vacation.
There’s a TV crew checking in that is doing a segment on the local town, Jasmine Falls. Turns out the star of the show is Sadie’s old nemesis from College, James Fielding.
James liked Sadie in College and loved their competition; Sadie felt James was always trying to one up her and made belittling remarks. The kissed once and then Sadie rarely saw him again.
This whole book of Sadie being indecisive got to be way too much. I liked the characters, the TV show idea and the town but almost didn’t finish the book.

I hate giving books 3 stars. I was looking forward to reading this one, but it didn't do it for me. The main female lead was a mess the whole book until the last two chapters. By then, I just wanted to smack her upside the head.
I will read the next one in the series. I like the authors writing, just not this character.

My Eyes Are Sweating
I genuinely am struggling to put into words how much I loved this book. The chemistry between Harper and James is immaculate. It slowly burns throughout the story as they deal with mixed feelings and miscommunication. The way my heart was aching throughout the end of this book is a feeling I love when reading. It makes me feel like I’ve truly connected with the characters. I don’t think I could do this book justice. But I would 1,000% recommend.

This was a really cute read! It's definitely one of those stories where you get annoyed with both characters because you want them to just tell the other what they're feeling, but if that were the case, there would be no story!
I did notice a few typos, but overall I understood what was being said. I enjoyed it regardless! Highly recommend Lucy Day for clean, romantic and fun reads!

Enemies to lovers? Maybe. More like rivals to lovers. Second-chance romance, small town, celebrity. It’s a little bit of everything. She’s at a low, he’s at a low, but both think the other are at the high point of their lives. Takes a bit to unravel all the things that haven’t gone right and the misunderstandings between them.

Although I became a little frustrated at times as I was reading, I believe that this story could give hope and encouragement to a reader who struggles with a lack of self confidence.
Jasmine Falls seems like a wonderful place that I would love to visit.

This was a super cute romcom that features the miscommunication trope and the enemies to lovers trope, because Sadie always thought James was super annoying and hated her but he secretly loved her the entire time (which is always so cute!) I also noticed that the second chance trope was in this one, as James was able to get another shot at wooing Sadie! The setting made me want to go live in a small town in South Carolina and start my own inn business too! I always love a sweet romcom, and this one gave me all the feels! I highly recommend!

Sadie Harper is back at her parents’ gorgeous Victorian Bed and Breakfast in Jasmine Falls. She’s been helping out since she lost her job and her own place. It’s not where she wants to be; in fact, she feels like a failure in most areas of her life.
When her parents leave for vacation, Sadie is in charge of the place and who walks in but her college rival - James Fielding. James is hosting a TV travel show and Jasmine Falls is this series’ stop. To Sadie’s horror, he’s staying at her BnB, and why is he so annoyingly attractive?
Sadie and James are smart, driven people; that’s what fueled their rivalry back in college, and immediately they fall back into their old ways of banter and competition.
Over the years, they both have had their setbacks and feel insecure - though neither is letting the other know of this. As the TV show is set to film, James asks Sadie for her to help with the show. Sadie is unsure if this is a ploy to show her up, or if there really are some true feelings behind this heated rivalry.
Not only is this a cute, sweet romance, but it addresses dealing with insecurities and feelings of failure. It does this lightly though, so it’s not overly heavy, just a delightful, small-town story. And we can’t forget the townspeople, who add some fun, baked goods and smiles.

Almost Definitely Never is the second book in the Jasmine Falls Love Stories series. I had personally not yet read the first book and found this read just fine as a standalone.
Simply put, I absolutely adored this book! Sadie and James were both wonderfully written characters who I couldn't help but fall in love with. They drew me right into their story and had me rooting for their HEA. They're both a bit of perfectionists and struggle with all the things that come with that, so I think I definitely related to them on that level too. Don't get me wrong, there were many times throughout when I wanted to shake the both of them and tell just to talk to each other... isn't that usually how it is when we're dealing with miscommunication!? I know this is a trope that some people really don't care for and honestly, it's not always my favorite either... and honestly, the miscommunication is strong between these two. Still, it was done so well that I really couldn't help but enjoy it anyway! And when they finally DO work it all out it makes it all that much sweeter.
Almost Definitely Never is a closed-door romantic comedy. The chemistry is sizzling, as are the kisses, but it does not go beyond that. There was a small amount of language in this-- I believe right around 5 words, and nothing too major, but definitely something to be aware of if that bothers you! While I definitely prefer no language at all, this didn't take away from the story for me.
If you're looking for your next RomCom, this is definitely one to check out!

enemies to lovers romance, from a dual POV!! I was quickly drawn into the story with its depth of characters and interesting storyline, which made it hard to put down.
You also may even come away with some truths to ponder-
”She said to make my passion my North Star, and as long as I did that, all the other little annoying things that happened along the way couldn’t stop me from going wherever I wanted.”
And, like with cooking, “We’re all just trying to find our ‘desired level of tenderness,’…How tender, how vulnerable, do we need to make ourselves to get what we want most?”
And as I was recently reminded, “…failure is nothing to be afraid of. Or ashamed of. It’s a sign of bravery. If you never let yourself try and fail, then you’ll never get what you want.”

I’ve given this book a rating of 3.5. I really enjoyed this book. It had what you want in an enemies-to-lovers romance. My personal issue, the reason I didn’t rate it higher, is that I really don’t like miscommunication. This book is sort of based on miscommunication as the reason behind them being “enemies”. Sadie, the main character, is the definition of miscommunication. However, Sadie and James did have super adorable banter and playful back and forth. I really liked their chemistry, it was written so naturally. I really liked the characters, James and his crew, they were all written so well and each of them felt so likeable. I also loved all the Jasmine Falls residents that were featured in the TV Show. They may have only had small parts in the book but they were written so thoughtfully. They all really brought something to the story. And Gwen is the friend everyone needs. She’ll bring you a cake and tell you exactly what you need to hear, no matter how hard it may be.
Overall, this was a really good book. I really enjoyed the story and the characters. It was a sweet and funny closed-door romance.

I love a good rom com and was overdue for a good enemies to lovers story. Sadie and James (college rivals) were such fun characters - - equal parts delightful and frustrating. Their chemistry was great and I was rooting for them. I loved the inn and the small town feel of Jasmine Falls. Gwen’s bakery was the icing on the cake for this dessert lover. Such an enjoyable read!

This is a sweet enemies to lovers romance that is set in a small town. It’s told in the points of view of both main characters. It’s not spicy which I appreciate and has some chuckle worthy dialogue. It also has a bit of a second chance romance as well since the two main characters had a moment back in college.
I really like the way the two main characters, Sadie and James, are written. Both have had setbacks professionally which have caused their self confidence to plummet. They both strive to work hard and do the right thing. They are 29 years old now, but back in college they had a fierce rivalry.
I love the setting of small town Jasmine Falls, South Carolina with its artisans, charming downtown square and town hype woman, Pamela Sue.
James is filming a travel show in Jasmine Falls and I completely enjoyed that element of reality tv thrown into the plot.

Sadie and James have quite the history as competitors in College, who skirted briefly with more before hurting each other out of fear. Both struggling after personal and professional setbacks, they end up reconnecting. I enjoyed seeing them struggle to break through their insecurities, assumptions, and misunderstandings. I don’t love assumptions and misunderstandings as plot devices as a rule, so Sadie (the worst offender), did frustrate me a little at times, but it was clear how she had really wrapped herself in her own insecurities, trying to protect her vulnerabilities and it left her in an unreasonable (and maybe a little paranoid) mindset. Overall I did really enjoy it. I liked the side characters and engaged with both Sadie and James, although I connected a bit better with James. This story is closed-door with a little bit of lower level language.

This was more rivals to lovers than enemies but I loved the banter between Sadie and James. They had good chemistry and I could really feel their emotions. I absolutely loved Sadies one-lines and internal monologue. She had me cracking up the whole book. The dual POV was great. Getting to know what they felt about the other before they had the conversations made it a little frustrating at times (but in a good way). One of them would make a comment and because of what they thought happened in the past the other would think it was meant in a bad way. I kept saying “talk to them!” But the conversations they did have felt real. Even though there was no spice I loved this rom com and this authors writing. It was light and fun but had some deeper connections.
