Title: Carman Author: Rob Watts Series or Standalone: Standalone – Short Story Rating: 5 Star ***** Review:
I came across this author from being followed by him on Twitter and from there checking out his catalog of work. This story jumped out at me as a fan of mystery and suspense reads and after picking it up and reading it, I’m glad I came across it because it did not disappoint.
You’re told often about the risk of picking up a hitchhiker. From the tamer end of things to the worst case scenario, there has been a ton of it spoken about both fictionally and news wise. This story stems from that but taken a step further.
What if you stopped along the side of the road and picked up a girl, wanting to do a good deed and take her home safely, but you got so much more than you bargained for in the process? That’s what the main character of this story deals with and by the end, I was thrown a curve ball that in my wildest dreams I never would have seen coming.
This, for such a short read, was fantastic and anyone who is a fan of short stories, suspense and thrilling reads, curveballs that you won’t be able to predict mixed in and around a situation that any of us in the real world could have found ourselves involved in, I believe you will enjoy this as much as I did.
After reading this, I’m interested to check out more from the author and am glad that by chance he happened to find and follow me on a social networking site, otherwise I might not have gotten the chance to read what I did.
My only complaints? Well only that it’s over.
Short, sweet and to the point, along with the lesson to never ever pick up a hitchhiker. LOL. Loved it.
