An avid reader (her parents tell everyone they had to move from their first home because she finished the local library), she always wanted to "fix" stories so the characters did what she wanted, in books, television, and the movies. Once she began writing, she found this wasn't always possible, as evidenced when the mystery she intended to write rapidly became a romance.
However, her entry into the world of writing can be attributed to a "mistake" when her son mentioned the Highlander television series on a visit home. Being the "good mother" she began watching the show and soon connected with the world of fanfiction, first as a reader, then as a critique giver, and then, one brave weekend, she wrote her first short story.
Things snowballed (if one can use that analogy in central Florida!) and soon she was writing her first original novel. Much later, she mentioned something about a recent Highlander episode to her son, and he said, "Oh, I've never actually watched the show, I just thought the concept was cool." Little did he know what he'd started.

Another good read from the Pine Hills Police series. This is actually book 4, but in chronology of the series it happens between Finding Sarah and Hidden Fire. Colleen was introduced in Finding Sarah. She is Randy's sounding board and is like a little sister to him. She is a Pine Hills police officer. Or, rather was. As this book opens the reader is in a scene at Randy's house where some of the officers are unwinding in a poker game. Colleen is one of those officers. She leaves the game and Pine HIlls virtually at the same time.
Suddenly, Colleen is across the country in Orlando, FL starting a new life. As far away as she can get from home and police work. She has left it all behind, that horrible night when she answers a domestic call and within seconds her life is shattered. If only she could leave the nightmares behind as easily. Enter Graham Harrigan, Orange County police. Graham is working his way up in the force and finally has an opportunity to prove himself in the CID. He also can't quite get that first meeting with Colleen out of his mind.
There's plenty of action and a mystery to solve. I couldn't connect all the dots on this one until Terry Odell decided it was time. Well written and fast paced but enough pauses to allow the reader to become involved with the characters. At first, I wasn't sure I wanted to leave Pine Hills and Randy and Sarah. I was glad I did. Colleen's story was worth it. Now, it's time to pick up book three, return to Pine HIlls, and let everything come full circle. Maybe it will, and then again, maybe it won't.

'Colleen MacDonald' may be my favorite Terry Odell creation. Colleen is tough and feisty and NOWHERE TO HIDE is all about her. My favorite scene is where Graham and Colleen go to the gym to work out her frustrations. She strips down to sports clothes and they really go at a wrestling match. The scene is sexy and aggressive. Graham is very charming and a lady's man, and is completely disarmed by Colleen. The crime again is a good one - challenging. Winds up going where you least expect. And the peripheral characters like in all Terry's stories, are fully fleshed out, believable,enjoyable. They always remind me of someone I know.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it very entertaining. After a tragedy in Pine Hills, Mac moves to Florida to get away from everything police. Only across the country isn't quite far enough, her first day in her new home, she is opens to her door to find a Deputy. It seems her landlord is missing and his daughter is looking for him. Mac finds herself involved in an investigation as she starts a new life with new friends, when the unthinkable happens. This book is based on some of the characters from the Pine Hills series, but it's not necessary to listen to the others, unless you enjoy suspense and romance mixed together. The other author does an excellent job of it and the narrator brings the characters to life for you.

Nowhere to Hide (Pine Hills Police #4) was another great read by Terry Odell. Colleen McDonald was a police officer who was injured in a case where her partner died. She left her job for a fresh start as a civilian in Orlando. A deputy sheriff comes to her door and all she wants is to get him out of her life. Deputy Sheriff Graham Harrigan is in the middle of an investigation that could give him the spot he wants in the Criminal Investigations Division. They wind up partnering to solve the crime. This was another great read by the author. I enjoyed Kelley Hazen's narration and can't wait to read more by the author.

On the job training
What an enjoyable time spent reading about Colleen and Graham finding the pieces to the missing person puzzle and to themselves. This story highlights the trauma police officers experience when the job becomes violent. The story is very well thought out, easy to follow but with surprises along the way, and really good characters. I would have liked a little more at the end but now my imagination can make my happily ever after ending. These characters would make a great series,!

Great book I'm glad that Colleen McDonald got past her fears and her and Deputy Sheriff Graham Harrigan made it trough. now on to the next book.

Terry Odell’s novels are listed as romantic suspense. However, I think she writes action-packed suspense and intrigue with just enough romance sprinkled throughout for an amazing read.
Colleen McDonald has moved to Orlando, FL, from the small town of Cedar Grove, OR. She’s trying to start a new life and put a traumatic past behind her. Deputy Graham Harrigan wants to work in the CID unit of the Orlando Sheriff’s Department and prove he’s overcome some bad mistakes he made as a Rookie cop.
When a woman reports her step father, Jeffrey Walters, is missing Harrigan is given the routine case. When checking on the man’s property, he discovers that Colleen has rented the cottage and Walter’s aunt is now living in the main house. There is an immediate attraction between Colleen and Graham but both are reluctant to act on it.
Harrigan is determined to solve the case in order to get the slot in the Criminal Investigation Division. He needs to prove he is nothing like his unsavory former training partner.
The search for Walters continues. Harrigan and Colleen continue to run into each other and soon they are working together to put the pieces of the puzzle together.
Harrigan finds he’s drawn to Colleen in ways he’s never felt before even thought he knows she hiding something from her past. Meanwhile, Colleen is having trouble accepting Harrigan at face value. She has no trust nor experience with men.
This fast-pace drama will keep you spellbound from the first page to the end. Along the way you’ll think you’re on a roller coaster ride at Disney World. The ups and downs, twists and turns of this case will have you wondering, guessing, hoping, and pleading.
Harrigan and Colleen dig deeper into this case and unravel a real estate scheme, murder and deceit. As they pursue the case, their personal lives become intertwined. I had trouble getting through this book and I'm not sure why. I felt the same about this book that I did most of the sereis. I liked the entire series well enough, but none of them were overly compelling for me. The suspense aspects of the books were good and the characters were well developed and didn't do stupid things. The romances didn't feel contrived. There was just something missing. I enjoyed reading them and don't reqret it, but I know I won't be watching and waiting for anymore in the series. Not sure if I'll try anything else by the author.

All I can say is grab this book if you want to read a marvelous and fantastic romantic suspense. I could not put it down and read it in one sitting. The chemistry between Colleen and Graham is electrifying making it a definite must read!!

Probably my favorite in the Pine Hills Police series, though it mostly takes place in Orlando. Again, well written mystery, and likeable characters. Rushed and somewhat graphic in the romance department, but as with the other books, you really root for the hero and heroine to get together.
