“He is in a place that dare not be named… for fear of spending eternity there. A door that must never be opened in this realm,” she answered ominously. “A place that nothing good can dwell. He has been taken… stolen into the Underworld.”
This book picked up where the previous book left off, and followed Willow as she searched for kidnapped Nalin.
Willow came across as quite immature in this book. In the previous books she seemed to have the right ideas, but in this one she was whiney. I understood that she wanted Nalin back, and that she’d do anything to achieve that, but instead of coming across as confident and determined, she came across like a teenager throwing a paddy.
“They could have killed him already, and I may never what happened to him,” I said, sobbing. “I feel broken. My heart is broken… You must help me find him!” Rosalyn didn’t understand the connection I had with Nalin. She had never had her soul ripped apart. I felt lost. I felt empty.
The storyline in this followed Willow as she tried to rescue Nalin, who had apparently been transported to the realm of the fae. We got a lot of travelling in this book, to several different locations, and we found out a bit more about the fae. We also got a bit of action, and some riddles to solve.
“What is considered a stairwell to the divine Which can mend the soul at the same time, Can cause wars to spread quicker than wildfire, And, yet, can be thought of as a crime? (can you guess what the answer is? I thought this one was pretty easy)
The ending to this was okay, but we were left with a pretty big cliff-hanger. It will be interesting to see how Willow deals with this new threat in the next book. 6 out of 10. I got a copy of this in exchange for an honest review.
Let's get right to the point here.
What I liked about this book: 1) The action scenes 2) The characters 3) The twist
What I disliked: 1) There were some unnecessary scenes... I think. 2) It got kind of boring in between the chapters 3) The ending was not so cool. It could've ended just like that without any bad thing happening. UGH. 4) Willow. I mean, that ending left me like this:
After a time of peace, just when Willow and Nalin are ready to bind themselves in a marriage ceremony, their peace comes to an unexpected end. Nalin finds himself captured by the Dark and twisted King and taken to the Underworld to pay his debts, as Willow discovers a secret that is both the cause of their union and exile. Desperate to regain the Ljosalfar kingdom Daphane, Nalin's evil sister, casts her brother into the most deadliest realm of all, Hades in hope to separate Willow and Nalin forever. However, no one had ever expected Willow to go into the depths of hell to reunite with her lost love and bring peace back to the realms. Rules have been broken.. Deals have been made.. Will Willow risk everything she has to offer in hope to save Nalin's soul before its too late?
Wow, this book was incredible. It dragged me in deeper. I found myself unable to put this book down from the minute I started it (my partner was not too happy about it ha). This book has been very carefully thought out and I must say every part of it worked, not once did I think something did not belong everything flowed well and contributed to the story-line. I do not want to spoil anything as this was well worth the read! I would gladly recommend this book to anyone who will enjoy an amazing fantasy novel about a realm different to the average faery novels, one will a forbidden romance fighting to be reunited, action at every turn and mystery that keeps you following until you discover the truth.
I suggest to read the two short stories, Weeping Willow 1 & 2. I am a huge fan of Sandra Madera.
Sandra's writing, and her imagination is unique. I really enjoyed Wicked Magic! Willow has grown so much. I had several emotional moments. When you think you know where the story is going..then in a split second ...the story takes a left turn. Love it when stories make me think and gives me surprises!! I will post an extended review on my blog soon.
I have been looking forward to this story for quite some time. I was so excited to see Willow & Nalin come back and loved the extension of the story from the first 2 books. This story was very fast paced and Sandra didn't disappoint. I can't wait for the next one to see how the story progresses. :)
Just when things seem to look bright and easy, Nalin is captured and taken to the Underworld. Willow decides not to hear his recommendation of forgetting about him and sets on a quest to rescue him. Her adventures take her to dangerous paths and she meets new allies along the way. She learns more about her creation and Nalin's past.
The rhythm is fast and it's full of surprises. The Underworld is a place full of danger and obstacles. The writing is very good, with colorful and detailed descriptions. It has alternating POV that helps us view the whole picture and understand what’s going on with both characters.
Willow has to take the reins of her life and make many mistakes. Some of them were obvious but I think it’s ok to have a character that is not perfect.
The book ends with a huge cliffhanger that leaves you feeling frustrated.

Good story. Willow is trying to get to Nalin, whom she loves. She is a bit too impatient. She encounters a lot of obstacles in her search. Will she find him and will he be the same if she does. I will be reading the next book to see the final outcome.
