About the author

Carol Marinelli was born in England to Scottish parents, then emigrated to Australia, where there are loads of Scottish and English people who did exactly the same, so she’s very at home there.

She lives in the outer suburbs of Melbourne—pretty much in her car, driving her three children to their various commitments.

Carol writes for the Harlequin Presents and Medical lines and she also writes contemporary women's fiction (with a dark twist).
When she's not writing she's reading, when she's not reading she's writing.

I usually LOVe Marinelli stories...but not this one. I just couldn't connect with the characters at all it seems. Thus I was not empathetic to their situaion, and not invested in their relationship whatsoever....*sigh*

And seriously? Those are 2 women on the cover. Not that I have a problem with that, but this story was about a man and a woman....what was Harlequin thinking??

This book is filled with love w/ a capital "L" and a dash of medicine to give it just the right flavor. This was a definite page-turner that had me reaching for the tissue box numerous times. And the ending brought a huge smile to my face. It definitely deserves 5 stars. :-)

This book deserves - 100 stars for the cover alone. The H does not match the description in any way shape or format of the H on the book who is alternatively described as a big bear of a man and then bald die to hair loss from his treatment.
I cannot even begin to describe the anger I get when the cover of a book doesn’t match the story and leaves me feeling catfished and bitter.
This story is depressing as hell
The H and h clearly love each other but the h is depressed. She has had 4 miscarriages and her husbands way of helping leads her to retreat further from him. What these 2 are suffering from is a lack of communication and the MIL doesn’t really help the situation she’s a cow to the h all the time.
To compound the issue as they are on the brink of asking for a divorce (which neither really wants but as I said communication is suffering) they have goodbye sexy times after which the H discovers he has testicular cancer and the h is pregnant but can’t tell him. (She doesn’t want him needlessly upset when she loses another baby and he draws away from her as he doesn’t want her to suffer losing him if his treatment doesn’t work.) they both think that their respective partner won’t be choosing them for love rather it’s pity or the baby- communication people!!!
These 2 eventually sort themselves out and it’s a baby boy for them at the end and their dream house.
Quite a depressing story but I cannot get over my cover rage.

2.5 stars. What an upsetting story. The best part was the ending. Really had two stories going at once. Neither were happy and joyful. Yes that is the way of life but I read these books to get away from the real world and live in a different reality.

Ava memiliki profesi sebagai sex therapist. Dan semua orang berpendapat bahwa James, suaminya adalah orang yang beruntung. Akan tetapi kenyataannya kehidupan rumah tangga mereka jauh dari sempurna. Sejak Ava 4 kali mengalami keguguran, di dalam rumah tangga mereka seperti ada dinding tebal. Dan kerenggangan itu semakin menjadi ketika James (dokter onkologi) mendapatkan tawaran ke Brisbane untuk studi selama beberapa bulan.

Sebenarnya baik Ava maupun James ingin sekali memperbaiki hubungan rumah tangga mereka. Masing-masing memiliki upaya untuk itu. Masalahnya hanya satu, komunikasi antara keduanya. Ketika James mendapati dirinya terkena tumor di scrotum, James semakin menarik diri. Dia memperlakukan Ava sama ketika Ava memperlakukan James saat Ava keguguran.

Tapi namanya juga novel romance... kalau pasangannya udah pada dasarnya saling cinta, ya tetap aja melibatkan adegan ranjang. Nah dari satu kejadian itu aja, Ava hamil. Tapi dia tidak mau memberitahukan kehamilannya pada James, takut kalau keguguran lagi. Apalagi James masih menarik diri darinya. Ya gitu deh... tarik ulur, saling ngambil keputusan sendiri, dan butuh orang luar untuk menyadarkan salah satu di antaranya.
