Would you like to double - or even triple - your reading speed, in just ONE HOUR?
What if you could blast through email messages, business reports, and newspapers, quicker than it takes most people to drink a cup of coffee? How about if you could zoom through long books and other literature in just an hour, rather than the days it would take most people?
In this exciting new book, best-selling author Justin Hammond shares the secrets to doubling, or even TRIPLING, your reading speed. And all in less than 60 minutes.
He uncovers precisely what speed reading is (and isn't). He explores common misconceptions behind speed reading, and how reading actually works (you might be surprised!). And most importantly, he shares with you the most POWERFUL secrets to rocketing your reading speed -- starting IMMEDIATELY.
Read this book and you'll begin digesting entire paragraphs at once, rather than reading each word. You'll be able to zip through whole documents in seconds, and whole books in a matter of minutes.
Just read this simple guide to speed reading, from Justin Hammond, and you'll learn how to double (or TRIPLE) your reading speed, in just one hour -- or less.
If you want to save your time, don't read this book. This was my first book about the subject and I am very sure there are good books out there that you can read. This one is a very average, too repetitive book that claims to unveil some big methods and ideas but delivers even lesser than an average blog post on speed reading. So, why would you want to read this book? Why would you want to waste your money? Don't.
This free kindle book was horrible. It contained two or three useful bits of information, hidden in a pile of fluff that read like an infomercial. Ironically, it provides an excellent opportunity to test your skimming abilities.
this book has two main points(1. Reading without lips/tongue/mouth Movement 2. Don't read all words by the way read only important words as phrases.) and by the way you can't apply them on your study materials if you are preparing for any exam but if you are reading for fun only then you can apply them and you can read your book faster.

This book (already short) would lose 50% of its content if the author would stop saying "double (or triple) your reading speed" as often as he felt inclined and if he would drop the constant "I NEVER thought I could read faster than ______". It's pretty much a summary of other texts with the recommendation the reader looks elsewhere for more information. Just start there, look elsewhere and skip this book.
This book is very useful. It requires practice, but the way everything was written made it so clear. Now, as I have tried, what I used to read in 1 hour before, just requires me to read for 10 minutes, and I have better comprehension too! I recommend this book to all bookworms!
Overpromises and then falls woefully short of what it claims. Maybe it can help out a beginner reader. However, for seasoned readers, this is not a good pick.
Thankfully, it is supposed to be finished in an hour. So, not a huge loss of time.
The book is good, the tips weren't useful for me.. But I know many people who does these mistakes and can rectify if they would like to... I really don't think the tips given can really help in increasing speed... May be not for regular readers who might have gotten these by experience, but for occasional readers, it may be helpful....
At first, I planned to give this little book three stars. It tends to be a bit repetitive and wordy. Also, I felt unsure that I could do the things he suggested. Then I tested my reading speed. Without the skills he taught: 320 wpm, mistakes on comprehension test. With the skills he taught, with only two practice paragraphs:426.5 wpm, 87% accuracy. That’s a fast increase. I guess I’ll give it 4 stars and keep practicing. .
It works. For example, I was able to complete this book in 30 mins key steps are Select a book 1. which uses simple language, like this book 2. reiterates same things again and again, like in this book 3. speaks of things you already know, like in this book
Ok. The real review is 1. probably everybody knows most of the things in this book 2. the points are helpful for beginners, the points are probably mastered by people who read a lot of books. It actually made me slow at reading because now I knew the points/tricks consciously and stayed in my head 3. more than 50% of the book is repeating "I felt bad when my friends read at high pace, later I learned the tricks, which I will talk about in following chapters" 4. Has some useful examples/testcases to practice the tips provided in the book
This book as it name suggest is about speed reading, how you u can double your reading speed. This book contains all the bad habits to avoid and good habits to adopt. Honestly it contains not much new material. If u have already watched videos on YouTube about speed reading and know basics of speed reading then u can avoid this book. This book elaborates simple rules. Although it contains some exercises and evaluation techniques of it but still I didn't find any exceptional content in it.
Like mentioned already by somebody else in the comment. 1. Not a very useful book. 2. Could’ve been a a blog instead of a book. 3. main learning’s are: Don’t subvocalise. Read lines not words. Skip unnecessary content. Practise understanding by glance rather than by reading. If you’ve read this comment. No need to invest time in this book.
The entire book can be summarized as follows: 1. Stop subvocalizing 2. Filter unnecessary content 3. Regulate eye movements 4. Pay attention to phrases, not individual words. Also, the techniques listed in the book cannot be used when reading heavy/new content , which accounts for most of my daily reading.
The only takeaway from this book was the following suggestion: Read groups of words/phrases rather than individual words. It has immensely helped me in improving speed of reading.
A short, sweet and useful guide on how to increase ones reading speed. The author makes it look eminently do-able. Indeed, it is. However, it would require a bit of commitment and some perseverance.
A quick read book that helps you read faster. Most of us are slow readers largely because of inherent bad habits which don't we realise that they exist.
Few of the bad habits that contributes to our slow speed in reading are 1. Uncomfortable mental or physical state. For example, if you are physically tired, over ate, have something running at the back of mind like worried etc. 2. Subvocalisation . For example, Loud reading, murmuring, focusing on pronunciation etc 3. Unsuitable surroundings such noisy surroundings. 4. Distractions around you such as TV, smart phones etc.
Few Tips to over come the above especially for point (2) while rest of the points are anyways under your control. 1. Focus on reading phrases and not words 2. Focus on reading key words and tactically skip filler words 3. Focus on key places where important/key content are written such as beginning and end of paragraphs, first and last paragraphs of a passage, lines that are bold or in italic etc.
Myth : Speed reading compromises comprehension
This also highlights where it's recommended to speed read and where one shouldn't. Above all the book also highlights, nothing comes out by just reading self help book. Instead practising it with self discipline is the only way forward.
Interesting the book like a text book presents lots of practise passages too.
Average Book - If you have read any other speed reading Book, then you can Skip this
This is Just another guide on speed reading book. There is nothing new Insight here, The same standard sets of practices - Sub vocalisation, Visual Pacer, Eye moments etc, therefore If you have read any other speed reading Book then you can skip this book and save time. If you are new speed to reading then this book is too basis, So anyway will help you.
I read this book dividing it into parts and simultaneously trying to avoid my mistakes. Though we might know some of our mistakes unconsciously, but never makes effort to correct them. Now that I see the change, I'm not going to neglect the tips/lessons. Choosing the speed according to the text is important. I'm really thankful for this book. Amazing! I feel great. Anyone who wants to improve their WPM have to try this.
Short good book that actually takes less than an hour with high insight
Reading itself is an art. Speed reading is the perfection of it. How much of a content to read, what can you read faster, what's actually necessary for comprehension of content is well described here. Take the passage test at the end of reading. I could see a difference.
Well I read it just to make most out of Kindle Unlimited. Book is okayish I would say. Three techniques author has mentioned.... Which to be all honest, I already new. Nothing out of the ordinary here.
If you are an avid reader, but unconsciously do subvocalization of text when you read (like me), then this book will call you out. I found it helpful that it pointed a finger at what I could work on.
And for that single reason, I give it a four on five since 3.5 isn't an option.
As someone who loves to read and has an ever growing pile of to-be-read books, this was perfect in giving me the tools to up my speed reading game! Looking forward to delving into my books again in 2023 and seeing how many books I can read each month!
For what it's worth, I think everyone should give this book a try. It details various bad practises one have while reading and it also explains the solutions and good habits to incorporate into one's reading habit
Starts with general misconceptions we hold for speed reading. Then bad habits which slows us down, good things we can learn to speed up. And then concludes with when and when not to use speed reading.
Gives you real stuff that you can apply in your daily reading. Some of the techniques are something you might already be aware of, but are nor applying. This book gives you a direction on how you can start.
Few concepts are really good and helpful but I don't agree with a few. For example, it says you don't need to read every word and there's an explanation around it. But I don't agree with this. You need to read every word in order to understand the sentence with correct grammar. It might take extra minutes to read a book, but those extra minutes are worth it.
Great inputs are there so that we can have speed reading possible. I like the part which mentions when it is good to speed read and when not to do so. Good book.
