She'll do just about anything to please the enigmatic drummer she's had a crush on since they were kids.

He aches to have a long-lasting relationship with just one woman--but not just any relationship. He expects obedience inside and outside of the bedroom, and he won't hesitate to enforce his rules by giving his woman a good spanking. When he meets up with his childhood friend Alice in Chicago, all grown up and aiming to please, Andy knows the heat they generate is something special. Until he hears about Alice's real reasons for joining the tour, and until she skips town without so much as a good-bye. Andy has no qualms about chasing after her, but he may not like what he discovers along the way.

I don't read too many "domestic discipline" stories but this author has written one I actually enjoyed. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy BDSM themed stories but I like them more when it's "in the bedroom" or at a club for sex play and less when it's a control thing throughout the entire relationship. Dark Without You was well written with characters I liked and the domestic discipline was not too over-the-top. Andy Steel was tired of the groupies hanging around the band during the tour and this was brought home when he was robbed and dumped by one he was with. Enter Alice Groves, who's had a crush on Andy and vice versa and now has the chance to be with him for several weeks at the request of her brother Rich, Andy's band manager. I really enjoyed their friendship and the level of trust they had in one another in order to embark in this unique relationship. I liked that Alice was a strong heroine and was not afraid to speak her mind before submitting to Andy. Andy treated Alice with great care and made sure she was ok with what was happenng. You could sense a loneliness and vulnerability within him when she was not around. Another great story about friendship, trust and hot sex.
When his groupie girlfriend robs and dumps him, Andy Steel hits a low and decides to leave the Soul Snatchers, the rock band for which he’s a drummer. He’s tired of the roll and roll lifestyle in general. But childhood buddy and band manager Rich has too much invested to let that happen, so Rich calls on his little sister Alice, who he raised after their parents died, to tour with them and convince Andy to stay.
When they were growing up, Alice had the biggest crush on Andy, and he in turn, looked out for her, pulling her out scrapes. She’s all grown up now, about to graduate college, but she’s still a tad rebellious. They instantly click again, and passion flares between the two of them, but when Alice rebellious side appears, Andy knows just how to quell it…by reddening her bottom.
There are two kinds of spanking romances: those in which the spanking is the point of the story and those in which the spanking is merely an element of the story. Dark Without You is in the latter category. The story is about Alice and Andy rediscovering their love, which is threatened by her meddling brother. The domestic discipline is how they choose to define their relationship.
Dark Without You offers a sweet romance wrapped in some pretty hot sex scenes and tied with a bow of spankings. It’s a pretty package and an enjoyable, fast read.
Very hot and sexy domestic discipline book. Got a little of everything in this one..
Andy Steele is the drummer in a heavy metal band called Soul Smashers. He and 4 other guys started the band back in high school. Andy's not feeling the whole band, touring and groupie scene anymore and tell his best friend and the band manager Rich he wants out. Rich convinces him to stay at least until they are done with the tour.
What Andy doesnt know is Rich called his sister who he has been supporting through high school and college since the death of their parents and who he knows has had a crush on Andy since she was little to join them for the rest of the tour to help get Andy out of his funk.
Alice had become a wild child after the death of her parents and Andy was always there looking out for her getting her out of trouble. Because of the age difference at the time no lines were crossed but Andy always threatened to take Alice over his knee if she didnt behave.
It doesnt take long once Alice joins the tour for these two to give into there feelings and for the dominate Andy to finally show himself to Alice.
The bedroom scenes between these two are hot hot hot.
Read this in just over an hour because I had to find out what was going to happen. As soon as Alice's brother said to come on the road I got that gut feeling that somehow, even if she fell for Andy again things were going to get messed up big time. I like the innocence of Alice's pure reactions to Andy's old fashioned ways as well as the heated sex scenes. It's heart wrenching when the tour is over but in the romance genre there is usually a happily ever after forever and always ending that just makes me tear up. The sex scenes were very spicy but not over the top and I like the dynamic between Alice and Andy. The sexual tension is there from the moment he greets her at the gate! Overall 5 out of 5 for me. Looking forward to reading more by Sue!
"Dark Without You"- beautiful title, beautiful book! Such a sensually written book that I wasn't even overly troubled by the "romance novel" terms for body parts and functions that normally drive me crazy so I can't even finish a book. I enjoyed the balance of narrative, back story, and explanation of domestic discipline, the last told by the female main character who started the novel only knowing a little about this world. I enjoyed how fully Sue Lyndon fleshed out the lead male and female characters. The last chapter was full of so many sweet and touching moments. It was wonderful to come to the end of the book wishing for more story; I can't wait to read other works by Sue.
Sue Lyndon's "Dark Without You" was an absolutely pleasure to read. Twice. I am happy to add it to the list of books that I would gladly pick up again and again.
Alice is one semester shy of graduating college. She's home for a few weeks when she receives a desperate (if you could call it that) call from her brother who manages a band that's just had its break. He talks her into joining him and the guys for the rest of the tour, and he's clear that he needs her to keep Andy in check. Alice accepts without second thougt. She's had a crush on Andy since she was a kid and hasn't seen him in a long time, plus she thinks it'd be a good thing to go away and have fun for a couple of weeks.
Andy is bummed the groupie he'd hooked up with left him. But that's not all of his problems; a lot has changed, he has other goals and he wants to quit the band. Well, well, well, that certainly changes when Alice, his crush from the past, walks into his life again; and she's not the little girl he remembers. In the past, Andy always talked himself into why he couldn't date her...um yes, she was underage. But now, that isn't the case and he is free to act because he isn't going to let her go.
Overall, this was an entertainly hot read. It's short, sweet, and sexy. Andy is into a bit of kinkyness, you know the kind... Alice isn't, well she's never tried that kind of kinky anyway, yet she isn't afraid to try, and when she does, she LIKES it. Come on, she even looks forward to the weekly maintenance spankings!!! <-- That right there made me say "what?!" This makes a quite good short bed time read.

Nice, quick Domestic Discipline story, on the erotic side of the fence. The author has a great style of writing.
Hot, larger than life band member, nice and protective. Happy ending. Exactly what you’d want from a book like this.
One small issue: on one page Andy says they have an autograph session from noon until three, and then a concert that evening. A couple of pages later it says that the session was supposed to last two hours, and that there wasn’t a show that evening! But that’s not much of a criticism, is it?!
It's an emotional ride to say the least, for naive Alice to follow the band. She has always wanted Andy and now here is her chance. She is drawn to the way he commands her body. But does it all have to end when the tour ends? Her drunken brother thinks he is helping but really adds conflict to the story.
Sue Lyndon offers a brooding dominant hero and a not so submissive little Alice wrapped up with just enough spankings and and hot sex to make you sigh. I'll be sure to see what else Sue has to offer now that I know how talented she is.
This book was a quick, hot read. I loved the characters and the story line and the domestic discipline had the perfect mix of eroticism in it to keep from being over the top. Sue Lyndon is a genius with the dominant dialoguing-- it never fails to tweak me. I would've liked to have a touch more time spent on the their "making up" and also on the actual spankings, but those are minor complaints. I totally recommend this book!!
