A Hit and Run--A Deserted Country Road--A Parent's Worst Nightmare.

On a warm fall morning in Gardiner, Washington, Richard and Maggie celebrate happy couple Sam and Marcie's return. What happens next changes their lives After a hit and run on a deserted country road, Richard and Maggie suffer a parent's worst nightmare.

Now a year later, Maggie McCafferty struggles to put her life back together ... hiding her pain with outrageous behavior and a secret she's unwilling to share until her friends step in and her strong-willed husband sets out to bring Maggie home--the only way he knows. Just as Maggie begins to trust again, Dan McKenzie calls after disappearing for over a year. But now he's back, and instead of coming clean with the truth of their involvement, Richard digs himself in deeper, with mounting debts, a partner who refuses to buy him out--secrets shared only with Dan. However, one night a mysterious 911 caller witnesses a fight and sees Richard shooting Dan. When the police arrive at the deserted construction site, the only evidence of a crime are a pool of blood and a surveillance video.

Under mounting pressure from the police, Richard is arrested and interrogated--but fiery, secretive Richard is adamant he was home all night. In a bizarre twist of fate, Sam, Marcie, and Diane work against the clock and wonder how well they really know their evasive friend. With Maggie by his side, Richard stands by his innocence. The trouble is, if Richard didn't do it, where is Dan? And who is the mysterious 911 caller?

This book was reviewed by Lee Ashford for Readers' Favorite.

“Lost and Found” by Lorhainne Eckhart is a heart-rending tragedy of grand magnitude, faced by one innocent family against whom it seemed the whole world was allied. It is Book 2 of the “Walk the Right Road” series; Book 3, “Bounty”, is due out any day now.

“Lost and Found” is the story of a man, Richard, who found himself in partnership with one of the most unethical, dishonest, lying, cheating, back-stabbing, philandering cretins to ever crawl out from under a rock. Dan, Richard’s partner, deals in illegal drugs, cheats his partners, pushes down little old ladies, steals candy from babies, and basically has made his way through life by taking deplorable advantage of everybody he encounters, not least of whom is Richard.

Maggie is Richard’s wife. In the prologue to this story, Richard and Maggie’s 5 year old autistic daughter was killed by a hit-and-run driver speeding down the road in front of their house. Maggie, quite understandably, was severely traumatized by the death of her daughter, so her doctor prescribed anti-anxiety medication to help her make it through the days, and sleeping pills to help her make it through the nights.

Overall this was a very engrossing novel, and I’m looking forward to reading “Bounty” when it’s available. But one thing that really hit a sore spot with me was the way the author painted everybody as judging Maggie to be some kind of low-life drug addict because she took prescription medication to help her cope with the worst nightmare a parent could face.

Society at large has been duped into believing that there must be something wrong with you if your doctor prescribes you medication for any reason. That simply is not true. Many people, myself included, would not be alive today if not for the prescription medications they take. However, other than that one odious incrimination and discrimination, “Lost and Found” was a superb book.

It will pull you into the thick of the action, and not let you go until the final page. This author has mastered the art of developing and telling a complex, realistic story, and I would not hesitate to recommend this thriller, and Books 1 and 3 in this series, to anybody who enjoys experiencing a captivating thriller.

Maggie is a true heroine. A woman who faces unspeakable pain and needs to overcome her depression in order to help her husband save their son. She's already lost her baby girl in a hit and run accident, succumbed to drugs to dull the horrible memories, and lost the respect and trust of everyone around her, including her little boy. She's turned away friends and let her demons win. Now the woman will face the biggest battle of her life. Can she stop the forces that want to jail her husband for murder, stand by him and stay strong? Her life is spiralling and the only way to stop it is to be in control. Not so easy when every breath you take threatens your sanity. This book has kept me awake far too late so I could find out how this poor woman survives. And it was worth every minute I pried my eyes open. What a wonderful story, written by a wonderful author. Absolutely 5 stars!!

Just finished this one and was really a nail bitter. I was on edge the whole book and couldn't put it down for the last 50pgs. The development of the characters was pleasing and story line gripping . Yes it's sad but I really felt a whole range of emotions throughout this book. Thank you L. Eckhart I really enjoyed the ride!

Heart wrenching

I was caught by the first page and couldn't stop reading this book. I think there is a lot of truth about the government and the way they mishandle a lot of cases with children involved. Loved this book.

This book starts out with what every parent fears: the death of a young child. Maggie and Richard try to deal with her death in their own ways, but things aren't going well at all. Maggie is hooked on prescription drugs, Richard is (again) mixed up with his shady ex-partner, Dan, and their young son, Riley, is suffering the effects of his parent's grief.

The book is interesting in a lot of ways, dealing with grief, special needs children, drug abuse, etc. But, the plot is very involved, with a lot of characters and a lot of gaps (in my opinion). Since this is labeled as Book 2, I can only guess that the story would be more understandable if Book 1 is read first. There are a lot of things in the whole conspiracy theory that stretch believability. How is it possible for one man (the mysterious Dan) able to manipulate so many people to do what he wants? I never fully figured out the connection between the characters, once again probably due to not reading Book 1 first.

The narrator does a good job with the story and the story moved at a fast pace, but I wish I had more background before listening to this book. I was given the opportunity to listen to this audiobook by the narrator/author/publisher and chose to review it.

Lost and Found (Walk the Right Road #2) was a great read by Lorhainne Eckhart. Richard and Maggie celebrate the happy couple Sam and Marcie's return. They never thought that what would happen next would change their lives forever. A hit and run driver killed Richard and Maggie's daughter. It has been a year and Maggie continues to struggle putting her life back together. She is hiding her pain with outrageous behavior and secrets that she cant share. Her friends and soon to be ex husband step in and set out to bring Maggie home. Just as she is beginning to trust again, Dan McKenzie calls after disappearing for over a year. He's back and Richard won't come clean about their involvement. One night a mysterious 911 caller witnesses a fight and Richard shooting Dan. But when the police arrive there is only a pool of blood and a surveillance video. Richard is adamant that he was home all night. Sam, Marcie, and Diane work as hard as possible to find out what really happened. I enjoyed this book and cant wait to read more by the author.

Maggie and Richard are dealt a horrible blow which could quite possibly tear them apart. Just as Dan McKenzie appears back in their lives, all hell breaks loose which may leave their family irrevocably broken and Richard fighting for his freedom.

This is an emotional tale filled with a roller coaster of drama, edge of your seat tension, heartbreaking loss and so many twists and turns you’ll find yourself dizzy with anticipation of how it’s all going to end. It’s an engrossing tale that will grab you at the beginning and keep you enthralled throughout. But just as things seem to be wrapped up there’s more that will leave you anxious for what’s coming. It’s definitely a series well worth reading.

Dead or alive

Wow, what a great first book for this author. Amazing!! A happy family of four goes from a fun day outside with the family to the loss of their small child, then what seems like a breathe, being accused of murder of a partner.. How do you get through that? What seems unbearable and unbelievable; is what happens when family and friends pull together for one another. It is a story you don't want to miss. I read this book in one day, couldn't put it down. Great book!!🍒

Had this book in my kindle for a while; figured I read it. Did not realize it was the second book in the series. The plot was a bit choppy and since it was a continuation from the first book; some parts of it were confusing.

Richard and Maggie are getting over a horrible loss; and someone from their past comes back and disrupts their lives some more. It was a quick read (just took me a while to actually finish it).

What a terrible tragedy for Maggie and Richard. It tears them apart and Maggie takes Ryley and leaves. Pills. Addiction. Terrible pain. An ignored little boy. A husband who does not want a divorce. Off the pills with a husband's help. Back home again. Dan appears again and causes so much trouble. What an absolutely fabulous story of how love survives tragedy. Brilliant read.

This was quite the emotional story. Lorhainne has the reader exploring lots of their emotions. You can’t help but want to read the rest of the series. A story about a family that has one tragedy after another and how they manage to stay strong even at their weakest moments.

A slow read

While the story line has some excellent p!ot twists and turns it had quite a few moments when it seemed to drag on forever. It's not the worst book I've ever read.

This was a very good read. At first I found it a little convoluted which made for slow reading but after I got all the characters down - and there are a lot - it was a great book!

In the beginning of this book I could not put it down . I liked the character Maggie and the pain she needs to overcome in life. Her baby girl had been killed in a hit and run accident. Now a year later she wants to get off medication and live again with her husband and son. After moving back everything seems to be going ok when her husband Richard is charged with the murder of his unethical, dishonest work partner Dan. I was somewhat lost because I did not read the first book and that's why I gave the book three stars since I had read it could be read as a stand alone. The very end of this novel makes me want to read the third novel. Dan , the murdered man, is still alive.

This was a great book. I really sad and tough but really a great book. When a family looses their daughter they begin to fall apart like any family could. People blame others and then their selves and pretty soon you are looking at a divorce. The hard thing is that they also have a son. So while the mother is taking pills to sleep and get through the day and the dad is minding his own business just trying to survive..It seems everyone has forgotten about their older boy. When the dad realizes what has happened he works double time to save his family including getting his wife off of the pills.

This book bridges several genres - Western romance, (it's really a genre!) mystery & family melodrama. A free Nook book, it did keep me entertained, even tho it was confusing & uneven, the ending abrupt. What first appears to be the book's core theme - a child's death goes unresolved. All in all not satisfying, but it was free.

I enjoyed this book. I have read the first book in this series and liked it too. This didn't have as much mysticism in it as the first. Continues on with the same characters and their saga in fighting for what's right. Good read!
