Arranged Monster Mates #9

Wed to the Bullman

Rate this book
Minotaurs come to Alia Terra for the sole purpose of finding a mate, starting a family, and growing their presence. They are settling the Taurus Terra territory and filling it with the new half-human, half-minotaur race.

Vozak isn't so sure about the process, but he shows up anyway and puts in for a wife through the Marriage Temple. Since his brother has a human wife, she has him request her sister. Turns out Agnes is a DNA match to him.

It's a rocky start. Agnes comes along with expectations for romance from the old novels she's read and Vozak only knows the minotaur way.

In the process, an enemy comes along and destroys their newfound happiness. Will he be able to save her in time? The fight is on and it's life or death for the new couple.

The Temple, a matchmaking service for monsters, shifters, and aliens, is open for service.

The only thing this book has going for it is the hot minotaur sex.

Vozak (Minotaur) heads to the temple to pick up is mate, Agnes (human, virgin). Vozak’s brother is mated to Agnes’s sister. Agnes, for some reason, thinks that the second she marries V that it’ll be sunshine and roses and insta-love. On the drive home, she gets mad at him because he’s not fawning over her. They have a lot of hot sex. Then she says, “do you love me”. Um they literally just met and haven’t had a full conversation yet. So things progress and there’s no break in the story or time lapse. One paragraph they’re in the garden, the next paragraph is months later and they’re having sex.

Anyway, she gets pregnant, someone kidnaps her, he rescues her, they have a baby. The end.

It was really boring and didn’t make sense. I’m all for insta-love, but the couple actually needs to have a conversation or something. I just didn’t feel this one.

Poorly written

This selection was poorly written and read like a first draft. I admire anyone who writes but there is an expectation that the reader has. There was no character development which lead to not caring about any one. The dialogue was lacking of any depth. Disappointing.

These stories alway warm my heart. I live that we got to see more of the Taurus Terra colony & got to see more of Auryn & Vrakius. I only hate that these are so short. Also, that feral ott energy from Vozak is so hot.

Wed to the Bullman de Eden Ember
Serie Arranged Monster Mates

Argumento:

¿Podrá salvarla a tiempo?

While I am loving all of the monster books in this series, this one fell really flat for me.
"Wed to the Bullman" is another minotaur monster novella in the Arranged Monster Mates series. We've seen this MMC's brother get his mate and their happily ever after in "Wed to the Minotaur." The author just rebranded him a bullman in this one. It might help to read that short story before this one just so you know the connections. I really don't think it was fair of anyone to push the MMC into giving blood to get his match. It didn't seem like he was really ready, but the FMC's sister was being really pushy about it, almost controlling in fact, just on the off chance that her sister could come to live near her. The FMC has romanticized mates because of reading loads of romance novels and finds that her pairing is nothing like that. But like I said, it really isn't fair to think that whomever was chosen for you would be instantaneously how you "want" them to be. I don't like that the FMC's sister bullies the MMC into acting differently because it's not how her sister wants her relationship to be. Honestly, she should stay out of it. It isn't her business. Things work out for the main characters at the end and they get their HEA. I just didn't like it much.
The writing in this one leaves something to be desired. The conversations were stilted and very fake sounding and not how anyone would interact regularly. The author seems to have realized there wasn't any kind of major event or drama like 3/4 of the way through the book and out of the blue, something happens. It really came out of nowhere. So, all of that, combined with me not liking this couple and their dynamic, ended up with a 1/5 star rating from me. I'm not giving up on the series though!

Im sorry but There is such a big diference between the other authors in this series and miss Ember, she just can't write decent dialogs and the story is wonky and doesn't flow properly. Why did they choose to write a series when its so obvious one of them doesn't reach the same level... I'm so disappointed

Vozak and Agnes

I loved the story. Both are each other’s one and only. Vozak, by motivation of his sister-in-law, requested a wife to The Temple, specifically his SIL’s little sister. Their beginnig was a little rough because he was too used to the minotaur way of doing and saying things that he didn’t understand the humans interacted in a different way and that they needed affection and gentleness. His SIL comes to the rescue when she talks to Vozak and explains what her sister wishes and dreams of regarding her marriage. It was a learning curve for both but you see how their love blossoms and they love each other dearly and fiercely. I also loved that they live near her sister and his brother, and little boy Dario.

There are some errors through the book that with a little editing would straighten that out. It is not that descriptive regarding some actions and I had to interpret some things. Like in a moment they are in the Temple getting married and then they were in front of the truck ready to leave and then she is already seated in the truck, etc. There is no follow up as to what they are doing chronologically. Now they are here and now they are not! Something like that. Sometimes the names were not who they were supposed to be. But, I was very into the story and loved how it developed.

This is the second book in this series that I read and I wish to continue navigating this world of Alia Terra.

SAFETY remarks
- SAFE
- DV
- monster minotaur / human
- cheating/sharing: no
- ow/om: no
- separation/breakups: no
- possible triggers: she gets kidnapped and they wanted to impregnate her to make demands
- HEA: yes

Dual POV
Arranged Marriage
Fated Mates
Monster/Human Pairing
Kidnapping
🌶️ Spice 0.5 / 5

This book takes place after an event known as The Shift where Earth and humanity were almost decimated, and aliens we vacuumed through and deposited in a mirror of their planet, divided into different territories. Humans live mostly in poverty on the edges of civilization, and the best hope for women to have a better life is to submit a virgin blood sample to a matchmaking temple to find the perfect match based on DNA compatibility.

The main characters in the book are the sister and brother from this author's first book in this series. Agnes is the sister of Auryn, and Vozak is the brother of Vrakius from Wed to the Minotaur. There were times in this book when I was a little confused because the scenes didn’t flow. There was a little bit of jumping around, that made me think that I missed something but I didn’t. They went from needing more to adjust to being madly in love. The chemistry and connection just weren’t there, which made love declarations feel very rushed for this couple. There’s no description of what the main characters look like, just that they are attracted to each other and he has horns and muscles. It started as a cute story that had potential but fell flat due to not going into detail about anything. There’s a kidnapping plot thrown in there that I think takes away from the character development opportunity because it felt like a filler that added nothing to the story. Overall I found this book to be just okay.

The great thing about quick easy paranormal fantasy stories is the fact that the story is short and can be read quickly. It is fantasy and paranormal (emphasis on fantasy and paranormal). Relationships are instantaneous and there is a very limited amount of time to build on the relationship, tell their love story, throw in some hot spicy encounters and deliver the happily ever after. If you need more than what a quick easy read type book can give you then you probably should skip out on reading this one. These books are designed to be fun and take you to a whole other world. One where you can lose yourself in make believe for a short period of time before heading back to reality.

I love the Arranged Monster Mates Series by Eden Ember. Wed to the Bullman was a great addition and it was fun to see Auryn and Vrakius' (the couple from book 2) siblings find matches in each other. Vozak was an alpha male through and through who believed men and women had their roles in marriage. Agnes is an in the clouds over the top romantic who begs to differ. Vozak and Agnes balance one another out and will truly be a perfect match up once they figure things out. Trouble is up ahead when Taupas an alien species wants to take land from the minotaur community. They have no claim to the land and it doesn't bother them to go about acquiring it illegally. Poor Agnes gets caught up in this unsavory mess and can only hope that Vozak will be able to rescue her before it is too late.

Vozak and Agnes . . .

Minotaur Vozak Tarvir’s brother had found a mate, so Vozak decided to also apply for a bride. Since his brother’s mate was human, Vozak requested the woman’s sister and he was matched. Vozak is a very straightforward guy who works hard. He is unfamiliar with human behavior and only knows the Minotaur way of doing things. And his bride Agnes is enamored of the flowery over-the-top romances she has read about in her old romance novels which are not always an accurate picture of reality. Modeling their behavior after their married siblings won’t work either since they all have their own unique personalities, so trying to copy their relationship won’t necessarily fit in their own relationship. They each need to communicate and find their own way to show their love and create a successful union. And it does take time and working together, allowing for compromise and understanding. It’s difficult enough sometimes even when not dealing with another species. But working together and wanting to make things work out is a good start. But will all their progress be derailed when Agnes is kidnapped?

I didn’t find myself as happy or as immersed in this book compared to the others in the series. I do appreciate that the author is giving each of the three sisters their own happy ending with different species or monsters, but the timeline and certain details just didn’t align well. It was difficult to stay focused and follow the story since some facts from the previous books were either missing or changed.

For instance, Auryn initially learned that Chelsea married a “Bear Shifter,” but later it turned out he was a Phoenix. Also, the timeline when Auryn was pregnant with her second child didn’t match the descriptions from Chelsea’s visit, which should’ve taken place when Agnes was already in Taurus Terra. The inconsistencies and fast transitions made the story a bit confusing and hard to piece together.

That said, I still appreciate that it ended on a happy note. It’s not my favorite from the series, and it left me a little hesitant to continue, but I’ll still give the rest of the Arranged Monster Mate books a chance before deciding whether to explore more of the author’s works.

Quick, somewhat formulaic

Dual first person pov, Texas, US. HEA, 2-3 peppers spice, no kink. I was very sad by the numerous editing errors, almost as if no proofreader or editor had ever properly looked at it. There were verb tense issues, with frequent switches from past to present to past, sometimes within one sentence. There were pov issues where a chapter narrated from Agnes’ pov suddenly included “… Agnes and I…”. Sometimes it was even while Agnes was talking. And the same was true in the chapters from Vozak’s POV. And it sort of felt we already did this, when the sister married the Minotaur. It’s only semi interesting because it tries to embroider forth upon that story. However, there were several very unfortunate inconsistencies between the stories about the 3 sisters that were bothering enough for me that I could not give it more than 3 stars. If you want to know the baby sister’s story, it’s worth reading, but otherwise, this is one you might want to skip.

This was an enjoyable read that had the potential to be so much more with the main characters meeting and falling in love and learning to understand each other’s culture. Vozak is a Minotaur who gets pressured into going to Alina Terra to find a mate and goes to the Temple for help and he has now been matched to Agnes a human female like his brother Vrakius has in his mate Auryn who is Agnes sister but they are so different and being a strong male he will teach her to be his mate. Agnes is a human female that wants what her sister Auryn has with her mate Vrakius who treats her like a queen and with all the romance novels she knows what she is looking for in a husband but what she get is a gruff and stubborn male called Vozak yes she very attracted to him but he needs to learn about what she wants and likes. How will these two work everything out and have the HEA they both want.

I have to main issues with this book, both agne and vozak pisses me off. Vozak was kinda pressured to apply for this marriage because his brother and his wife, which is agne sister believe agne is his mate, agne have an idea of sort for vozak because of her delusion may I say. She literally met him ten minutes ago and declared she will get mad and sad cause he didn’t met her expectations and start comparing to his brother. Like girl give it a chance and you are not even doing anything to start conversations. And it was the stupidest thing for sisters to take brother because no. And I hatedddd how agne sister was blaming yozak for her sister delusion, like girl step back you are doing too much. Agne why your sister is communicating more with yozak, it’s your job to communicate!!!! And why suddenly you are having a baby and lastly I think agne manipulated yozak into loving her

I am not at all surprised by this but DNF 22%.

Male lead - Doesn't seem like he actually wanted a human wife. It seems like his brother's wife and his brother pressured him into it and he feels like it is his duty to do this. I feel pretty sorry for this dude. He has just entered a life full of crazy dramatic women. May God have mercy on his soul.

Female lead - She is kind of baffling. Why in the world did she think the guy she married would be anything like his brother? Why did she think an arranged marriage was a fucking fairy tale? Why is she so fucking dramatic?

Anyway I am super done with this one. I might have to give up on this series soon. So far I have only finished 5 of the books and of the 5 I only really liked 3 of them.

Vozak (H), a minotaur rancher recently arrived to Alia Terra, reluctantly agrees to be tested for an arranged marriage through the Marriage Temple and is matched with his SIL’s sister, Agnes (h). She hopes that she will have a happy marriage, much like her sister, and BIL, but instead finds more challenging experience with Vozak. Things heat up between Agnes and Vozak, but they struggle as their marriage continues to run hot and cold. The pair will face danger when external forces part them and threaten their happiness. Ultra-hot and steamy monster romance with a little bit of danger and adventure.

Vozak has travelled to Alia Terra to start a new life. His family is pushing him to find a mate right away but he just wants to focus on his new farm. However his brother convinces him to sign-up for a temple arranged mating. His brother and new sister hope that he is a match for Agnes, the sister of his brother's mate. He does end up being matched with Agnes but things aren't going as planned. Agnes wants a love match like her sister has but Vozak just wants to keep Agnes in his home to serve his needs.

“Kiss me, silly minotaur.”

I enjoyed this book. I love this series and always interested in seeing the various male species that will be matched to their human brides. Minotaur Vozak is matched to Agnes, who's excited since her sister was matched at the Temple (Vrakius and Auryn from Matched to the Minotaur) and she's read a lot of romance novels to fuel her fantasies. She'll come to learn the difference between fantasy novel and having a real match. Their ways are culturally different, and they'll have to work together, compromise, and get their footing to have a harmonious relationship. I enjoyed seeing the familiar faces and the connection between the characters. A good read. 4 stars.

Learning to love the Bullman

I didn’t know if I was going to get a similar story like the Minotaur book but I didn’t and this book was pretty friggin good!

Character breakdown;

Agnes: I was upset with her at first because she honestly barely gave Vozak a chance or got to know who he was. Instead she thought he would be like his brother and she just wanted that. Eventually she learned but yeah it was a turn off.

Vozak: I adored him, he definitely held himself back but again he wasn’t used to the Alia terra culture so he needed a moment or three lol. But I loved his fierce personality.

Plenty of steam, low angst and good plot line. I give the book 8/10 ⭐️ recommend.

🤣 No me aguanté, jeje

P.D.: La sinopsis es muchísimo más emocionante que la historia 😫

#ArrangedMarriage #Fantasy #FatedMates #SciFi #Virgin #Novella
Written in first person from an alternating dual POV, this can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA.
Vozak is the brother of Vraikus from Wed to the Minotaur. Agnes is the sister to Auryn from that book as well. Vozak matches Agnes through the temple. He marries his bride and brings her back to his ranch. Vozak is the grumpy her while Agnes is the hopeful, romantic heroine. I liked how they learn quickly to communicate with each other in the bedroom and then in their life. They are figuring it out when Agnes is kidnapped by another Alien group and taken to space. I will say no more about the story line itself.
This book had some issues with the writing that were not present in the other books. It needed another proofread at best and a full edit at worst. It felt choppy with occasional all-out errors. For example, the person speaking has the wrong name. The entire segment that takes place in outer space felt thrown together and felt like a battle from Star Wars. I didn’t feel like the whole space segment was necessary at all. I skimmed a lot of this one as it was disappointing to me. On to the next.

Agnes has been matched to a Minotaur, but luckily her sister knows him and will be living near by. Vozak is generally a bit gruff, and Agnes has been raised on romances, will their differences destroy their chance despite the DNA match between them? I enjoyed this Minotaur and human match, I liked how Vozak is willing to work with Agnes (even though he was raised to behave differently with females of his kind). I good quick alien romance read.

I really love this series of books and this book is no different! They're all unique in their own way. Arranged marriage to a monster trope. After reading Wed to the Minotaur previously, I'd really been hoping and waiting to read the story of these two coming together! It did not disappoint. I love how sweet these stories are. They're quick reads. I enjoy a good insta-love story sometimes although these two characters have some hiccups that they quickly work through. Loved the characters. Really enjoyed this one!

Agnes got her wish...mostly…with her sister happily married to a Minotaur, she expected the same for herself. What she got was a gruff, newly arrived alien who needed people lessons! The story flows smoothly with natural marriage hiccups that they try to get through. There's a twist that I didn't see coming that intensifies the plot but at the same time brings it together. I enjoyed this one, it reads fast but still has a fully developed relationship-building experience unfolding throughout the story!
