The Logical Magic of Change

Rate this book
A self help book to aid the process of change, based on common sense and heartfelt positive thinking, as opposed to blind repetition as often promoted in basic law of attraction/positive thinking books, of which I am not a fan, hence my writing this guide to clarify and assist people with changes. I studied metaphysics in the 80's and I understand the pitfalls of what is described as positive thinking. I also know what works, and how to achieve enduring change, because I've done it, and in many areas of my life. THIS BOOK IS ALSO AVAILABLE IN KINDLE FORMAT FROM AMAZON, MULTI E-FORMAT FROM SMASHWORDS, AND IN AUDIO FORMAT FROM MY CALMRISE WEBSITE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST.

I have never been a huge fan of self-help books. I have read some that I found interesting and some that seemed useful but I seldome find any that I would actually recommend.
That being said –
The Logical Magic of Change was a great surprise.
I admit I was cynical when I started reading. Not of the concept of positive thought, but on the concept of yet another book to help you find “your way” and all that blah. What I found is one woman’s honest thoughts and experience with positive thought and the phrases and prayers she has created and used to help herself and others in their day to day lives.
The book is ell written and very easy to read and understand. It is also blissfully short and refrains from the unending repetition that is prominent in so many self help books. The wording is normal, like a typical conversation, and there is no clinical or “guru” feel to it. It reminds me of conversations with a favorite aunt or with my granny. Real and realistic without a ton of fluff or pomp.
I love the fact that she admits to not having first hand knowledge of some situations and that she makes suggestions not demands with both her actual words as well as the general “vibe” of the book.
I have to admit that I had never put too much stock in positive affirmations but after reading The Logical Magic Of Change I am willing to give some of the concepts a try.
So now that I have said that I can admit that I have already recommended this book to a friend who is having some emotional problems. And I definitely recommend it to all of you.
Everyone can use a little (or a lot) more positive energy in their lives. Take a few moments and read through The Logical Magic Of Change. It just might have the words of wisdom you need but didn’t know you were looking for.

This was a free giveaway via GoodReads from the author (who not only sent it pretty quickly, but also popped a nice little note in the parcel).

Though this book is not long--I think succinct describes it rather well, and this is a good thing as books of this kind are often overly verbose--I'm taking my time with it because it is well laid out, easy to follow and, I suspect, one that might be useful (even if, like me, you are not too comfortable with the elements that deal with cosmic pleading). So I'll be back to say more when I've spent more time with it.

Right, so I've finished reading, and have more to say.

1. It IS still pretty succinct, and this is good.
2. It has some pretty good advice to give, suggesting that affirmations need to be realistic, for example, and that you can be aware of how you might be contributing to bad situations or experiences in your life without destroying yourself about it, and how sometimes you just have to accept that it might just be a good learning experience (even if it doesn't seem like it at the time).
3. There are lists of affirmations at the end of the book under different headings, and this might well be useful for many readers.

SO, IT'S FAIRLY WELL LAID OUT, NEATLY STRUCTURED. BUT

there are some things that don't sit comfortably with me as I tend to believe that you can change yourself but you can't have such a big influence on material things like finding employment or even getting money just by practising affirmations as the book suggests in places. Others may well disagree with me on this(and I definitely know of some who do!).

IN SUMMARY, positive affirmation in terms of changing the way you see yourself is a well-known technique to dealing with life's problems so I think some people may well find this book useful, and I'd be happy to put some of the suggestions into practice myself.

A quick read with wonderful thoughts and experiences. Well laid out from thoughts to feelings to change. Change brought about by affirmations. What a wonderful concept. The foundation always being on faith i n something greater than yourself (she calls it the universe which I liked. Important stuff on how to affirm (realistic affirmations not pie in the sky wants). All throughout the book Ms. Thompson places affirmations relevant to the subject matter that is being talked about and the last few chapters give affirmations for certain circumstances and issues. The ones on money and love are ones I will be going back to. This book came to me for a purpose as I can reference it when I need an affirmation and hopefully form a habit of using it's resource.

An interesting book on self affirmations that are easy to do and on pretty much every subject under the sun. It isn't a book to sit down and read in one setting, it is one to pick up and use when you are looking for help in whatever area of your life you need. I especially liked the part about help with the computer as we are all so connected to them in this day and age..we need to protect them as well, so we don't bring bad our way through them. I am sure I will look at this many times.
I received this book from Goodreads.com.

I'm not usually drawn to 'self hell' books that point out the obvious.....but sometimes circumstances push us in the direction where words that promote reflection and positive thinking are necessary.
