MARRY IN HASTE
Marriages come in all shapes and sizes, particularly marriages of convenience. Take Claire Barrington's situation: She needed protection from the advances of a local squire, while her dashing new husband Jay needed a wife to shield him from busybody matchmakers. It's a perfect plan...until it goes perfectly awry. For when Claire makes an unexpected visit to her husband's London home, the man she meets is not the man she married--although the brooding look-alike is just as attractive, if not more so...

RELENT AT LEISURE
A stunned Jasper Barrington greets his "wife" and has no idea who she is. Her timing couldn't be worse: he is about to announce his engagement to another, yet Claire has documents to prove their union is legal. Then the truth dawns: It was his twin brother, Jason, who married the girl, using his name. And Jasper now has a wife, a fiance, and the devil of a problem. For the unwittingly seductive Claire is proving more than a disruption to his carefully-laid plans--she's quickly becoming a wholly pleasurable distraction...

I really felt for the characters in the beginning. The feelings and reactions were real. However, once the sadistic, rapey antagonist had more page time, I started to skim.
I won't read this again because of him and the graphic details of his sexual actions.

I got about half-way thru the story.

I wanted to stick it out until the hero and heroine decided that maybe the other wasn't so bad after all. The story itself wasn't bad, I just did not like the nasty perverted, cruel, sadistic squire villain, or the vindictive evil jilted ex-almost fiancee. It's Christmas and I did not want to read evil drama. Once the fluffy stuff was covered in the story, I decided to move on to another book.

I didn’t love the couple as much. But the villain was excellent- I wish he had a bigger role. All time favorite.

nice start to the effingham series

As noted this is a good start for the Effingham series. The twin brother of Jasper has married and written Jaspers name on the marriage certificate. There starts the angst for poor Jasper. He now has a wife and an almost betrothed.

Good story of falling in love and the revenge of a woman scorned and then there is the squire who is obsessed with Claire.

There is steam and a nice epilogue

It might have been a great story. Unfortunately, there are so many stupid mistakes, especially with the propnouns that I found it hard to follow.

Another great book

Wonderful, never disappointed. Looking forward to the next book in the series. Characters are like friends that you visit on a regular basis.
