Dushyant Kumar (Hindi: दुष्यन्त कुमार) was a poet of modern Hindi literature. In India, he is generally recognized as one of the foremost Hindi poet during the 20th century. He was also a Dramatist, Litterateur and Gazal writer.


Dushyant Kumar was born at Navada Village of Bijnor District in Uttar Pradesh. He did M.A. with Hindi from Allahabad.


His literary career started at Allahabad. He wrote many dramas, poems, Gazals, short stories. He actively participated in Seminars at Parimal Academy of Literature. He also worked with Naye Patte, an important Indian Newsletter of that time, Akashwani and Rajbhasha Section in Madhya Pradesh. His poetry touches directly to heart. Many new poets are inspired of him like dr. Kumar vishwas, Pushpendra Naagar.


Dushyant Kumar died at the age of 42 on December 31, 1975, but in this short lifespan, he acquired a great accomplishment in the field of Hindi Literature. Only because of him, Ghazal gained popularity in Hindi. Now also his Shers and Ghazals are conned in Literary & Political Programmes.

दुष्यंत कुमार की कविताओ के मद में डूबी हुई मैने यह पुस्तक पढ़ने का निश्चय कियायह किताब काई मायनों में सांकेतिक है. समाज और सामाजिक परिवेश में बुने हुए जाल, रिश्ते नातो की जटिलता , जीवन के उतार चढ़ाव को भली प्रकार दर्शाया है दुष्यंत कुमार ने इस कहानी में.

एक अमीर ज़मींदारों का लड़का जिसके जीवन में पैसा, प्रेम, रुतबा सब है। बस पारिवारिक द्वेष में घरवालों के हाँथों मोहरा बन गया और जीवन ख़राब हो गया। दुष्यंत कुमार जी भाषा के धनी है, नपे तुले शब्दों में उन्होंने अपने किरदारों का चरित्र वर्णन किया है। यह उपन्यास दुष्यंत जी की रचनात्मकता को दर्शाती है। इस उपन्यास में कुछ किरदार अधूरे नज़र आते है ऐसा लगता है जैसे उन्हें पाठकों की रचनात्मकता हेतु लिखा गया है।

Dushyant Kumar's use of language is well known and to use that language to tell a story of zamindari and cultural and family values is brilliant.

ये छोटा सा उपन्यास एक बहुत बड़ी रचना है। बेहद कम शब्दों में इतनी मार्मिक कथा कह पाना शायद एक शायर के लिए ही संभव था।
इसे पढ़ने के बाद एक निर्व्याख्या उदासी ने जकड़ लिया है। अब और क्या कहूं?

a very touching picturization of a zamindar family based on adding the assets and playing with lives which ultimately resulted in loss of the dearest one.
