Charity Parkerson is an award winning and multi-published author with several companies. Born with no filter from her brain to her mouth, she decided to take this odd quirk and insert it in her characters.

This is a story of danger and fascinating pretense, a riddle developed ever so skillfully so as to pique your curiosity at every twist and turn. In its center is a man who lives in the shadows. He used to have an identity as private detective Jake Lewis, upon whose 'death' he takes on the identity of a hired thug named Eugene Salvador. This is the undercover identity he wishes to shed off throughout the story, in order to be incarnated as Jackson Cook, his best friend's brother.
Opposite him is Autumn Prescott, the reporter who focuses on the Salvador case. The one thing she knows for sure is that the man claiming to be Salvador in the courtroom only pretends to be. Having discovered this man's picture in an article reporting about the death of Jake Lewis, and having unearthed certain conflicting evidence about it, she wants to interview him--even in the face of strong discouragement, and threats to fire her, from her boss.
The author, Charity Parkerson, is the maven of intrigue. She gives you just enough to hint at where the story is going, only to change direction at whim while keeping a dynamic pace.
The Agent( book 2 of The Safe Haven series) The Awesome Jake is alive and well, but for how long after Caitlin, Avery and Charles find out. Jake didn't know what he would loose by taking a job with the government, they never said he wouldn't come back to those he loved. He had to help bring down a top criminal, fake his death, but still, didn't realize he wouldn't see them anymore. During this time Autumn, a newspaper journalist covered the trial of Eugene Salvador( aka Jake Lewis) because she had personal reason for being there to, and thought she'd dig deeper. What she finds could put Jake and Avery, Caitlin in harms way. Will Jake walk away or help his family out. I'm on my way to read book 3, you can download this awesome series to find out what else goes down. Charity Parkerson does a awesome job sticking to the same characters that I love while putting twist and turns in it to keep my attention. You'll love it!
Fantastic characters, great story line and enjoyable to read. I would suggest starting at book 1, The Assignment, to get the most out of the character development and story lines.
I love this author's voice. Her books are easy to read as they are not fussy or pretentious. Parkerson tells a wonderful story through the eyes of characters who have the ability to get their hooks into me and draw me in.
The only thing letting this down was the lack of editing. Unfortunately this seems to be a recurrent theme and is the only reason I haven't given this book 5 stars. Regardless of the minor, (though frequent) editing issues, this is well worth reading and quite possibly other people wouldn't take much notice of the issues that bug me.
This is a Mystery/Thriller complete with twists and turns.
The main male character has multiple identities throughout the story. The main female character is a journalist looking to expose him just for the story. Then she realizes she made a big mistake which put his and her life in jeopardy. Will they survive?
I realized as I read the story that maybe I had not read the first book in the series as I thought I had. I'm not sure it would make a difference as Ms. Parkerson gave enough background to understand all the different relationships. One day, I hope to get the other books in this series because this one really intrigued me.
Warning: This book is for Mature Audiences due to Violence, Sexual Situations, and Adult Language.
I don't know how author Charity Parkerson did it. Her fusion of a modern plot with erotica and old school detective writing left me astonished. The detective was more of a reporter but retained the aura of books I loved to read growing up. It was mystery. It was relevant. Her inclusion of Homeland Security flawlessly portrayed. The characters and situations felt real and left you guessing right up until the end. This is one of the finer short stories I have ever read.
