Her Marine

Rate this book
The last thing Journee expected during girls' night was to run into her ex. What she expected even less was for Killian to step in on her behalf. She’s grateful for the help, but she isn’t a fan of the way this man she’s recently met has her body responding to him.

When Axel told Killian they should all get together, he thought it would be like any other time they’d done so. He didn’t think he lay eyes on the most alluring woman he’d ever seen in his life. His attraction to her is undeniable, and he soon finds himself extending his stay.

Journee was used to taking care of everything for everyone and being the one who compromised in her relationships to make them work. That is until Killian stepped into her path and was hellbent on showing her what letting him lead and please her looked like. He was dominance on legs, and Journee found herself submitting surprisingly, with no protests.

Killian was out to satisfy their physical cravings. He hadn’t expected to want more than that, but sometimes life has a way of morphing desires and changing hearts.

Contains strong language, detailed explicit sexual content, and mild violence.

Killian handed her the smaller of the two bows and an arrow. He guided Journee’s hands and arms, positioning her the way she needed to be, and his lips came to her ear on the opposite side of her face.

“Loosen up on the arrow. You want to hold it, not grip it.”

Journee felt a shiver go down her spine. It didn’t matter how often she heard his voice, how many times he’d whispered in her ear; she’d never get used to it. Because each time he did it, Journee was transported back to the bowling alley where he’d brought her to orgasm from talking to her.

She followed his instructions, letting up on her grip at the end of the arrow. When she held it comfortably in her hand, she gave a little nod to let him know she’d complied with his suggestion.

“Imagine where you want the arrow to go; breath in, and when you exhale, release it.”

“Just release it?” she questioned.

“Yes. Don’t try to snap it; just let it go. The tension from the bow will propel it forward.”

Journee took in a breath, holding it for a moment. As she released it, she felt Killian nip at her earlobe, and she gasped lightly as she let the arrow go. It sailed forward and stuck into the outermost section of the target.

“That was good for your first try,” Killian responded, stepping away to grab another arrow and hand it to her. He positioned her as he had before. “Try again.”

Journee focused on the target, reminding herself not to grip the end of the arrow but to hold it. She paused for a moment to fix that. She was about to attempt her second shot when Killian spoke, his lips to her ear again.

“This time, slightly turn your body to the left and shift the bow a little.”

As he spoke, he placed his hands on her hips, shifting her body for her as Journee moved the bow a little. When he didn’t say anything, she took a deep breath, and this time as she exhaled, Journee felt Killian’s teeth graze her neck. She couldn’t help the small moan that escaped her as she released the arrow, barely clipping the target.

Journee glared over her shoulder at him. “Go stand over there,” she told him, pointing in a random direction. “You’re distracting me.”

Killian held his hands up in surrender, took a few steps back, and she grabbed an arrow.

I don't even know where to start. This book gave me all the feels! Killian, Killian, Killian. That man, that man. I need to know where I can find me one. His mouth is deliciously reckless in more ways than one and I felt like he was speaking to me that's how deep I was in.

I loved Journee! She was not taking anybody's mess, and handle her business like a grown woman, and she gives just as good as she gets with Killian. She's definitely become one of my favorite female characters.

Killian and Journee are so good together. Their personalities complement one another so well, and their duality within the relationship they build is everything! It was such a delight to watch them feed off of each other and become what the other needed even if they didn't realize it.

We got to see how close knit these friend groups are again, and the way they come together and support each other should be goals in every friendship group.

Ms. Marks you have knocked it out of the park again and I can't wait for book 3 and any other books you release in the future.

So IDK about ANYONE ELSE, but this book right here? I'm ready to throw my morals to the wind for a fictional character with NO remorse. I read this book and almost cried ugly tears (Teir knows what she did to me). I will riot over this here storyline today, tomorrow, next lifetime and beyond. Watching the storyline progess and climax the way it did, I'm this close to storming a military base myself. Anything less than perfect accolades, you're a hater and remind me of Olivia the witch

Lust, Friendship, Love this book has it all. Tier has given us another remarkable read that speaks to friendship and is full of that spice we’ve come to expect. The gradual buildup of straight shooter Killian and no-nonsense Journee’s relationship was tested along the way but also supported by their amazing friend circle and in the end love wins! I want me a Killian.

Circle of Friends

Teir Marks always delivers entertaining and steamy stories with likable and well rounded characters. Her stories, while always standalones, often contain characters from other books so, for an added treat, readers can catch up on favorites! Her Marine is book two in her Men in Uniforms series. Killian is a friend of Axel from the first book and Journee is Kaydence’s best friend. They are connected by these friendships but soon find that shared friendship is an easy stepping stone to mutual attraction. Ms. Teir gives a detailed story of their budding relationship and readers are a part of this sweet and heady journey. In addition, i love how the couple face challenges without convoluted problems….great story. I look forward to the next great couple.

I liked it. Journee and Killian were easy to like, especially once Journee got out her own way. Killian is all alpha male and let’s you know. I was worried at first about him because a man who talks like that when you first meet him is usually a walking red flag but he got better.
While I enjoyed seeing this couple grow, it was a little long and there was no real conflict. I’m not saying they had to have conflict within their relationship but something maybe they have to face together. Like maybe something with her ex, David? He shows up twice but doesn’t add anything to the story. Or he’s career? He’s a marine for goodness sake! Now his career plays a small part closer to end but I was never really worried for him.

Overall, it’s a nice read with lots of spicy, sexy times. Check it out! 3.5 stars

With Killian saving Journee from an old flame and the possibility of spending the night in jail. You would think that Journee would speak to the man. But no. Journee ignores Killian, and that like a red flag to a bull. Challenge taken. Watch out Journee, Killian is about to make her hot!

Not as good as the first book in the series, could have been shorter, I began skimming through the the repetitive sex scenes, like another reviewer mentioned "10,000, orgasms", lol
But I will read more in this series

Once again, not a bad story, but at certain parts there was too much detail. It made the story extra long for no real reason. And I don't need a whole chapter (or more) of a sex scene

Journee has been single for a while. Her last relationship didn’t end on the best of terms, and she isn’t explicitly looking for something when she goes for a girl’s night out and meets Killian at a bar. They’re best friends are dating, and the groups join one another and keep the festivities going through the night.

Killian is such an alpha, and the author does a fantastic job of keeping it away from being domineering. Sometimes it’s hard to walk that line and the character may venture into asshole territory, but it’s easy to see that Killian is far from that. He’s observant and attentive to Journee’s needs, actions and reactions. No matter how minor they may seem.

Journee is such a great female character to read. She’s strong willed and she doesn’t let anyone walk over her, her sisters, or her friends which we saw in book one and get more of in this one. She’s used to taking care of everything so letting go and handing the reins over to Killian is hard for her at first. With her previous relationship, she’d fallen into habits unlike herself to compromise even when she was the only one doing so, and Killian helps her out of that. There are few instances where there are some hiccups, but the communication, just like the chemistry between the two is impeccable.

It’s apparent from the moment the two meet that there is a strong physical attraction between them even if Journee fights it for a little while, but when she lets go it’s like an erupting volcano. I felt the heat coming off the pages, and the author did a great job of making it organic. The chemistry between them is palpable whether they’re in the bedroom or out in public.

When they are in the bedroom it’s explosive. The author set the mood for us for those chapters, and it heightened the reading experience. It made it feel like the heat was turned to a thousand. It was enjoyable to hear what the author heard, or hear what she felt fit the scenes and as always, they didn’t disappoint. The detail and description didn’t miss, and it was great.

Sidenote: If you don’t like descriptive sex scenes that paint a graphic picture and could be lengthy you need to skip the chapters with titles at the top. The story will still be enjoyable for you.

Watching how their relationship started, and how it gradually changed and grew was such a treat. We clearly knew what they were out to accomplish in the beginning, and it was easy to spot the subtle shifts in what they were building towards in both of them.

Of all the couples the author has written, I think these two complement each other the best. Journee has a thriving business that she enjoys and is building her clientele as we see in the book. We even get a nice cross over of a prominent wealthy couple. Killian has also made it to where he wants to be in his career with over a decade and a half under his belt. Even though their professions are on opposite ends of the spectrum, they mirror one another in terms of being where they want to be. They are without a doubt a grown and sexy couple, and they're so thoughtful of each other.

The closure of the book was sweet, and just what was needed to wrap things up neatly instead of going in a different direction and leaving their relationship sort of dangling in the wind. I also enjoyed the glimpses we got into another potential couple, and I can’t wait to see how that unfolds.

There’s so much I could say, but I don’t spoil it for anyone. If you’re looking for a sexy alpha male and a strong female lead who have unbelievable chemistry this is the book for you.

Killian and Journee meet through their best friends. Kill's on vacation and plans to chill with his bestie Axel. When he's introduced to Journee, he's interested in exploring a friends with benefits type of arrangement. Journee is an Alpha Female and has only dated men that let her lead. She met the right one when she met Killian, he's an Alpha too, plus he is hilarious and a gentlemen.

He decides to extend his vacation and courts Journee as she requests. Over time, she sees that Kill's unlike any man she's ever dated and she decides to give him a chance. He teases her a bit, with no enchilada! When they finally consummate their desires, they exhausted me. Kill wanted to make sure she had 10,000 orgasms, so they were at it for hours—even for me.

I like this author and she knows how to craft a story, but I felt this story was too long at 418 pages. There were things that happened that I didn't care about that related to Journee's business among other things. I would have preferred that the story focused on the couple and Kill's military career.

Recommended: Read It!

Love

I enjoy how this author takes her time telling these love stories, it never feels rushed. As readers we get to see why these two people fell in love. The love feels genuine & earned. I will say their intimate moments felt very one sided where Killian is doing everything, the same foreplay over & over gets redundant, at times if felt like journee was just there for the ride, barely participating. It was odd the journee was under the impression that this was going to be only a physical relationship & was fine with that but then tells him to work for it which is essentially dating. Nevertheless I really enjoyed this. I do like that axel story had a bit more action. I would love a slow burn story like this one but some action moments. Men like Killian & axel but give the woman a dangerous job too. Have her be a bada** as well as him. He still worries & is overprotective but she can genuinely hold her own too. I think this author could pull it off.

EXCELLENT! TRULY EXCELLENT🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

WHEW CHILE’! WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN WITH THIS BOOK HERE! KILLIAN IS H.I.M.!!!
The MMC is ALL ALPHA, ALL GI JOE, and I loved every bit of it. I loved how this story unfolded, and how the MMC and FMC came together. I really loved how the FMC was written. She was an alpha in her own right, but the best part was her being able to live in her femininity because she found a man who made her feel secure, and who SET HER BODY ON FIRE COMPLETELY! WHEW CHILE’ do I need to go find me a Marine because DAYUMMMM if there all kinds of Killian’s in the core layin it down like that then THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR SERVICE!🤗
I loved how the author let their love bloom, and when they finally told each they loved one another you’re like YES! It was just so organic, and not rushed. This was just such a great read, and I will be revisiting it a few times. GREAT BOOK❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

I need a Killian

Teir Marks has not failed me yet. Journee and Killian is the ultimate couple. Journee is a headstrong black woman that gets things done, one way or another. Even when it comes to her relationships. So imagine her surprise when Killian comes and shake her world up. Having met through their best friends, an unfortunate reunion is taken place and he comes to save her, little did they both know he would be much more than a quick savior.
This book touches basis on how important communication is, especially in a LDR, as well pursuing what you want while being a healthy balance to each other. Though I do wish there was a little more of how different Killian and Journee's relationship is compared to the others she's had prior, just to see how headstrong and assertive she is.

disappointing (contains spoilers)

My main gripe with the book is that I was expecting a military book (per the title) and ended up with the same cliché of « he gets hurt and retires « . I really wish authors could write a good military romance where the protagonists manage to have both a romance and a thriving military career. If that wasn’t possible, few people would be in the military.
Although both Journee and Killian were « good people «  I and didn’t get them as a couple. I could see the sexual relationship but not much more. Maybe it’s because, although the book was long, it felt full of fillers and surface level. I still don’t know what are their hopes and dreams separately and as a couple.

great but extremely wordy.

Great story, could have stood to have a little more excitement, but over all great.

Three stars because although I love heat. 10-12 pages of it in one encounter becomes boring if it’s that way every time they are together.

A lot of information and steps of day to day activity that seemed to be put there for the sake of word count made it hard to finish the story. I can typically read a book within a day or two. This took me a week, I kept coming back because of the characters and the world they live in. I’m hoping Taila story is next.

🍨 Ice Cream Wishes Fulfilled!!!!

Journee and Killian were a match from the first time, Killian stepped in and came to her rescue at the bar when he first met her. She did not appreciate Killian, stepping in to handle her situation at the bar, that was just Killian’s way of showing her that he was interested in her, and he will fulfill all of her ice cream needs. Eventually, he did fulfill all of her ice cream orders.

I’ve liked quite a few books by this author

I have to say this was my favorite to this point. I Ioved how the relationship between the mains developed. It was authentic and realistic. Killian is an Alpha, which I adore. Journee is also an Alpha, but the two of them complement each other so well.

A whole lot of fun.

Killian and Journee were the hottest couple,
he stepped to her ex and put him in his place but they had to wait for her to make up her mind on them getting together.

Good Read

I enjoyed the story of Killian and Journee, their chemistry was believable and their relationship was easy. A little too much sex for me but it was a warning at the beginning of the book.

I really wanted to love this book but is was extremely boring. I’m fine with love stories being the main plot but this book just dragged and it felt very surface level. I got 50% and then gave up. I felt zero connection to the characters or their relationship
