Another of my first reads books.

Ok I will try my best not to post spoilers, so this may be a little vague.
When this landed on my doorstep, the first thing I thought was it was going to a dreadful Interview with a vampire rip off. The only similarity is in the title. Thankfully.

I really liked this book, which is strange for me, I'm usually a fan of vampire stories, but I was hooked with this straight away, I liked the characters, felt for the characters. Yes the writing is a little basic in parts, and the erotic chapters could do with a little more polishing, however the club bathroom scene does tickle the right spots ;)
Some of the scenes I did think could of been further expanded on, especially the battle in the forest and maybe the final scene. That is were I will leave you to make up your own mind.

This book was ok. Tania de Pré is a journalist looking for her next big story. But when she receives an email from the mysterious, erudite and deeply sensual Tristan Syhier Burnel a thousand-year old vampire who wants her to publish his life story she is plunged into a world of murder, intrigue and overwhelming sexual desire. When her boss hears of it, he encourages her to pursue it, against her better judgment; however, when Tania doesn't tell the vampire's life story and instead tells of human vampires in the London area, he is quite upset and mails a deadly gift to her office. From there, Tania becomes entangled in the life of two vampires--one rather benign and another rather deadly. The vampire of the emails, Tristan, is a "good" vampire while Raven Xavier is the "bad" vampire who goes on a brutal killing spree as revenge for Tristan letting the humans in on their "secret." This book didn't hold my interest I kept putting it down and going back and fourth it was kind of boring at times and although it was a love triangle it wasn't what I thought it would be. The book was well written with no errors in spelling or grammar.

This story's plot was very good. Original too, I thought. A vampire sends a journalist an e-mail out of the blue, promising to share his life story with her. It takes her a while to come around, but she eventually does, and starts publishing his story. Other things start happening, involving more vampires showing up. I enjoyed it.

I was going to mention that the writing needs some serious work. That, although good, the book was easily skimmable and could have been half the length without losing any substance. That there's plenty of redundancy, loads of tell and very little show, and a gross overuse of exclamation marks. Those things were going to drop my rating to three stars.

And then I read the final chapter. Wow. I don't want to give it away, but that final chapter was so unexpected, so mind-blowing, so (relatively) well-written that it's hard to believe it came from the same author as the rest of the book.

If you love vampires, but don't want them to sparkle, or if you're tired of the parnormal fantasy fodder of today, when vampire-meets-girl and they proceed to screw each other's brains out for the remainder of the story, you should pick up this book.

Although this book isn't really my preferred genre, it is an amazingly good read. Although it is a dark romance vampire novel, crime fans will also love this book, due to its CSI and police forensics content. It is totally contemporary - the whole story taking place in 2012.

Tristan, a thousand year old vampire, is jaded and tired of his lonely existence. He wants to tell his story to the world through a journalist's newspaper column in a candid and emotional outpouring. Unfortunately in doing so he has broken a time-honoured code amongst vampires - he has let the world know that vampires are real and do exist. This severely angers the evil and perverted vampire Raven who goes on a killing spree just for the hell of it. Meanwhile, the journalist, Tania, gets to know Tristan through his writings, and is magnetically drawn to him, increasingly falling deeper and deeper in love with him. Although the police do all they can to stop the murders, they are out of their depth when it comes to dealing with the vampire world. Raven must be stopped and it seems that Tristan is the only one who can stop him. The two agree to a duel - a fight to the death.

The book builds slowly, but once it begins to gather speed it is a highly entertaining and gripping read. The action scenes are vividly described. There are quite a few gory scenes, and a very erotic chapter before the book ends in a fantastic climax.

Awful. It is truly awful, in so many ways. I should have stopped at the typo on page 3, (Cloths instead of clothes) i soldiered on and regretted it.
From the characters to the language to the "spicy" scene, that led me to believe the author has never met a woman before.
It had the potential to be good but failed miserably.
I honestly don't understand how it was printed.
My favourite part was when the vampire died at the end.

The book was printed on smooth paper that felt good when turning the pages.

I was afraid I was not going to like this book because books about contemporary vampire stories are not my favorites.
The books delivers what they promised in the cover. It is a romance, thriller and there is desire.
However it was very predictable and the end was developed and resolved too fast.My favorite part was the actual vampire story and hopefully we will get a book about him. Might be more interesting for my taste.

I don't think I could summarize it much better than the title does: Email from a Vampire. Vampires in the contemporary times. Intrigue from the anonymity that email provides.

To read this, and other book reviews, visit my website:http://jenpaul13.wix.com/makinggoodst....

In Nigel Cooper's Email from a Vampire, 28 year old newspaper columnist Tania needs some inspiration for column material and she's hit writers block. When she has an email with the subject line of "Email from a Vampire" constantly bouncing back from her junk mail to her inbox, she is forced to read its contents. The vampire of the emails, Tristan, is a "good" vampire while Raven Xavier is the "bad" vampire who goes on a brutal killing spree as revenge for Tristan letting the humans in on their "secret."

As stories go, it was pretty good until it became the pseudo love triangle, albeit it with one side being less lovey and more murdery, at which point it became more of a rather cliché'd love story--particularly the ending. I mean, yes, the mystery man that is what most vampire stories entail does call for a romantic involvement to some degree, but the candidly cheese manner it's done over a very short period of time leaves me with a bitter taste in my mouth. I must admit that I literally laughed out loud when the mention of Sherwood Forest and Robin Hood entered the discussion; little details like that, and the mention of The Hunger Games, make it easy for readers to relate to the material and provide avid readers, such as myself, with a moment to smile and laugh.

The narrative does address the vampire lore and notes alterations to suit the story's needs--even if the information does come essentially all in one lump sum when Tristan speaks with various characters whom he trusts and lets in on his secret. It can be a bit much to have it all addressed at one time instead of drawn out over a period of time throughout the book. While reading, there were some areas of the text where it felt as if there was duplication of an idea, like the thought was introduced at one moment and then later moved into a different spot but not removed from the first instance but it didn't come across as too nonsensical in the grander scheme of things.

Email from a vampire by Nigel Cooper

This is a story about a journalist ‘Tania’ who received an email from a 1000 year old vampire wanting to tell his life story. Struggling to take him seriously ‘The Vampire’ proves that he is the real deal in a way that involves the police to come in the on scene.

Though breaking the vampire code and telling the world that vampires do exist, sparks one evil vampire ‘Raven’ to go on the rampage of feeding and killing as he no longer see’s the need to hide, putting him at the top of the food chain.

Unable to capture or even take down Raven, the police and Tania need ‘The Vampire’ to help to find a way to take down the rouge vampire in order to stop innocent people from dying!

This story is a good one, though for me it lacked passion; I just didn’t connect with the characters or feel the things that they felt. The story was written in a third person narrative and though I have read other books like this, I just didn’t feel a part of the story. I kept with it though on the hope that it would get more gripping and it just didn’t do it for me!

This was horrible. The opening story of Tristan sounded so similar to Anne Rice's Interview with a Vampire main character, Louis, that I'm surprised Nigel Cooper didn't get sued by Anne Rice.

Excruciating details on every move each character made, every thought they had, every little thing in the book made me unable to finish this. I tried and tried – I had 20 pages left – and just couldn't do it.

Nigel made the main character a complete joke. She went from a woman who was able to deal with tragedy to a pathetic love-sick puppy, falling in love with each character she interacted with. I couldn't do it anymore.

Thankfully, I downloaded this Kindle book when it was offered for free. I’d be very upset if I paid money for this.

What a brilliant stand alone novel! I have heard a lot about this book via other readers and as soon as I got the chance I jumped at it!
The writing style is amazing, the characters full of emotion, body and soul - you can truly see each one of them so clearly is shocking! Email from a Vampire is a brilliant twist on the regular Vampire style novels so if you are looking for something a little bit different then this is the book for you!
The only complaint I have is that it is a stand a lone novel, to me it should be part of a series as it would make a brilliant starter novel, there are so many possibilities within the storyline for it to easily continue and I think it would be a real shame for things to end there!

This book started so well and I thought I was in for a blood thirsty vampire novel but as it progressed I just got bored and wanted it to end. The characters were likeable but I think I preferred Raven over Tristan which is a shame. Tristan's life story was lacklustre at best and I fail to see how the newspaper readers would be left with no doubt that vampires exist. The I ritual involvement of the police was great and gave the story more depth but their involvement was abandoned to just have Maldini working alone and trying g to be the hero. Worst bits: the love scene and the ending. Utterly disappointing read.

I don't know whether I enjoyed this or not! Having said that, I persevered to the end. I found it to be a bit long drawn out and in a quite old fashioned style of writing. I'm not sure if the author wrote the book in this manner because it was set in England or if its his usual style. I for one, being a Brit, enjoy the more Americanised (if thats an actual word!),version of the modern author of today. I wanted Tristan to be more forceful and strong, he started out that way, but seemed to fade to quite a pathetic creature! Nevertheless as I said, I read on till the end, but don't think this book will be living on in my memory, as I like my books to do...at least for a while!

I rolled my eyes, scoffed, and yawned more times while reading this book than I think is acceptable.

I felt nothing for the characters and thought they were all very flat.

The writing was far too simplistic and didn't flow well in my opinion.

With next to no action, and the vampires being just too dark perfect at hiding, the story just didn't do it for me.

I friggin loved reading this book,it was a brilliant read from page 1.The characters are troubled sometimes sad and funny but all of the time brilliant. the whole book kept me wanting to read "just 1 more chapter" I literally couldn't put it down. I liked the way no matter what happened they never gave up and good eventually outsmarted bad, the characters are amazing and the way the story flips back in time then back to present day was great it gave you a better understanding of the characters and why they are the way they are. this is 1 of those books that will stay with me for a long time

The first 85% of the story was a bit slow, although it did pick up a bit around the middle. However the end was predictable, unimaginative, and lightening quick. The entire story lacked pace and flow. What started out as an interesting basic concept was ruined by the romanticism of yet another love-struck, friendly vampire.

Wow

I had such high hopes all through this book till the end. When I want to cry at the end of a book I want a happy cry, that is not the case in this book. I liked the book till the end then I was beyond disappointed.

Do you believe in Vampire's?? That is the question the book poses through the main female lead. Interesting concept in terms of hearing a thousand years of his life storey in his own words. Enjoyed this one.
