Demon's Desire

Rate this book
The average Otherworldy creature can snap a human like a toothpick.

Demitrios Randolph knows this all too well. As the demonic leader of the human protecting Night Shadows, he lives by two simple rules. One; never let your guard down. And two; never grow attachments to the easily broken humans, something he’s had to learn—the hard way. So when he rescues a woman from a Lycan attack, it’s simply business as usual. That is—until he learns that she’s a telekinetic witch—the last of her kind, and a seriously deadly weapon in the wrong hands.

After being orphaned for the second time in her life, Nakita Daniels is just trying to pick up the pieces of her life and move forward. Something she had a good start doing until she inadvertently finds herself face to face with a scary wolf determined to eat her for his midnight snack. In the blink of an eye, Nakita’s life goes from normal to crazy—and she refuses to go with it. Even if deep down she’s not sure she wants to resist being this Demon’s Desire…

This book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review. I must say that I truly enjoyed this book very much. I was introduced to a world full of vampires, shapeshifters, elves, and I became immersed into this world and the beings in it. The author actually pulls off introducing several characters in this book without confusing the reader as to who they all are. There are different scenarios going on with each character and the author has a way of leaving you hanging at the end of each chapter so I had a hard time putting the book down.
The only complaint that I had was that the couple who the book was supposed to be about, kind of got lost in the process. They didn't get much time together from the time they met each other until the end. This made it so I was somewhat disconnected from them as a couple. I would have liked to see them spend more time together to develop their feelings for one another and truly become the mates that they are.
The book begins with a witch who is killed by a demon who is trying to get ahold of her daughter for his own evil plans. She has hidden her daughter using most of her magic to conceal the girl so she won't be found. Twenty Five years later, the daugther, Nakita moves to the town where this had taken place. She has been promoted in her job unbeknownst to her by the demon who wants her. The spell her mother had cast has now run out and therefore the demon has located her. Demitrios,is a demon and a member of a group called; the Night Shadows. This group is made up of different supernatural beings who help to enforce the council's rules. Demitrios is at a club one night and comes across Nakita and is immediately attracted to her. She is there with her friend just out to have a good time, when a werewolf takes her friend out back and begins to attack her. This is how the story begins, and slowly Nakita finds out that she is a witch and that there are other beings in this world besides just humans.
There are others who get introduced as well and one of my faves was Trakhan, the elf. He is Demitrios good friend and he meets a lady who he believes is human, and he becomes enthralled by her.
There are several more back stories going on and the end is left open for another book; which makes me extremely happy as I am now invested into what happens in this exciting world!

This was a fun read for me. I give it 3.5 stars (story - 4 and editing - 3)The story was interesting and the dialogue was engaging. I also did like the cover although I may have wished for a more paranormal feel. The heroine was witty and quite independent although it felt like she seemed to capitulate on her chosen stance quite easily. The book was quite lively and a lot took place within a short period of time.

At some points I would have thought that leaving a little more to the reader's imagination and not leaving the bread trail quite so thick for some of the loose ends may have made the read a little more satisfying since I was truly left with the sense that there is still a lot to the story. There were some editing issues with the book - not too bad IMO but there were places where punctuation was missing and at one point I noticed that the spelling of a character's name was completely wrong.

The characters in the book were fun and interesting. I enjoyed the way the author built the creatures of Lore into a very realistic world. The villain was devious and a little maniacal. The only complaint I have about the secondary characters was that they were ALL finding their "mates" it seemed. Their stories have not developed yet but the linking of all of these characters sometimes made it a little hard to follow the main characters whose book it was. As a result I did not get as emotionally invested in the couple as I would have liked.

Overall I liked this book and I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

This was a good book, I thought. Although, he relationship between the main characters was fast and that was explained but even yet- a couple days was still too fast. Can't say I was a big fan of Nakita or Demitrios. I did like Trakhan and Riley, even Ira- oddly enough.
Another point was that there were many grammatical errors that I found distracting but obviously got over because I'm certainly not a word wizard myself.

That said, I would definitely like to get my hands on the sequel of Night Shadows and hope to see more of Trakhan and Ira.

The only reason I gave this book a 4 is because the ending left me in anticipation! There was no more! And I wasn't quite finished not by a long shot! 3 chapters was not enough! Quite the tease!

I have read the entire book! My review remains the same! This book is a tease! Waiting to see Ira's mate, Damian & Cali, Trakhan and Riley Steve Mason & Fai (Valkyrie) and of course D & N!

Atoya thumbs up!

This was an engaging read. The story and characters were interesting. I would have liked Demitrios and Nakita to have more time in the book, their relationship seemed a bit rushed. The beginning of the book didn't flow aswel as the second half but it didn't make it any less enjoyable.
