The day millions of people mysteriously vanished from planet earth, the world was forever changed. Oddly enough, most of us that remained thought it was a change for the better. But that was wrong… way wrong. World leaders hailed this new era as a return to the golden age. Life was supposed to be better than it had ever been. But we were just in the calm before the storm. The four horsemen of the apocalypse were waiting in the wings, and the world was rushing head long into a period of death and destruction like we had never imagined.
Somehow I made it through alive… that’s pretty obvious since you’re reading my book. But it wasn’t easy, and I certainly didn’t make through unscathed. Worst of all, the seven year period described in the Bible as the Tribulation has only just begun.
In the stunning sequel to They Walk In Darkness, Hank Downes faces the first five seal judgements from the book of Revelation in the Bible. It’s a fast paced, action packed story of survival in what quickly devolves into a post apocalyptic world where nothing is what it seems. If you loved the Left Behind series, the Edge of Collapse series, and The Book of Eli, then you will want to read The Four Horsemen.
The Four Horsemen is rated PG-13 for violence, adult situations, and mild language.
I'm not sure how bi biblical the story is....Enoch is not part of the canon for a reason. But I think Toby does a really good job of showing how easily people will be deceived. The good will be made bad and the bad good. I think we are seeing some of that now, although it's going to get worse. Toby also does a good job of explaining why United States isn't mentioned in the Bible. Furthermore Toby does an excellent job of making the characters real so that you want to keep reading. Thank you for writing this series.
The Four Horsemen (The End Tome Prophecy Series Book2)
Toby Neighbors has done a great job in this work of fiction, based on factual events to come. His way of writing brings everything to life as a distinct possibility of events in the Tribulation Period. I enjoyed this book immensely.
Whether a person is a Christian or not this book is a great read. It may not be the greatest writing ever but it certainly grabbed my attention and kept it. I am a Christian and I believe the Bible is absolutely true. These events are racing toward us. Jesus is the only answer, the only hope, the only way a person can be saved.
Imagining the end times according to the symbolic prophecies in the biblical book of Revelation is always challenging, but Toby Neighbors has brought his vision of those times very much to life. Twenty-seven-year-old former Airman Hank Downes didn’t believe any of it, until his Bible-preaching friend disappeared, along with millions of other Christians—and children—around the world. By then, it was too late. He’d been left behind, but unlike other such books, he didn’t join a church. Instead, he headed for the hills, knowing that chaos and war were closing in. And he was right.
As Hank tells his story, we get caught up in his predicaments, and fight for him to survive. Over and over, his life becomes a tight-rope walk of life and death, as China and America and other nations seek to wipe each other off the face of the earth in nuclear wars.
Of course, romance had to enter in, with an unlikely woman who is skilled at living off the land. (That’s helpful, until it’s not.)
I love how the book makes one wonder how s/he would survive such a holocaust. One might, like Hank, try to prepare for it—but for how long? And what would one do if desperate people came to loot one’s holdings?
I think my favorite aspect of this book is that the choice that is before each person—to take the hand of Jesus--clearly rings out. As Hank relays his experiences, he seeks to show others that the trauma shrouding the earth in horror and death was due to human choice, not something people could blame on God.
This was an engaging story. I wasn’t expecting the UFOs, nor the “alien forefather” visits, shortly after the pandemic of Covid-19! What a story!
mainly, the main character does not seem to know the Bible warns believers: not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers ( not that he even gets married)
On the other hand, so much of the novel is right on about the rapture, and the tribulation.
It is very well written.
But it is also a little too descriptive at times...not everything needs to be explained in detail the violence etc. is a little too graphic.
No idea how this ended up on my TBR list. At first I thought it was a Christian sci fi with aliens and end times converging. But its definitely an evangelical friction book about the end times. I was annoyed to hear that this is the second book in a series and somehow the first book didn’t land on my TBR list if you’re interested in Christian fiction about revelations, you’ll probably like it. However, if you’re looking to learn about end of timesI’d recommend sticking to non-fiction rather than fiction.
Can’t seem to wrap my head around a way to describe this book. Well written Toby, can’t imagine the depths of turmoil you must of gone through. As a Christian, I know the bible and this book brings to life an intimate and horrifying story in a manner that is inline with the Word. This is the second time I’m reading this series and I was half way through the first book before I realized it. Only the fourth book is new to me, so I decided to reread the three. God Bless Y’all
This quote from the story says it all. “No, see, we’re all headed for hell. Every last one of us. But God loved us so much that he sent his Son to pay our debt, which he did on the cross. That opens the door. It’s like we’re in prison, but God opened the door. Now it’s up to us if we want to remain in the prison, or if we want to walk through the open doorway and into freedom.”
I just finished book two in this series and getting ready to start book 3: Surviving Wormwood I have totally enjoyed the first 2 books. The characters are easy to believe and the story line follows the Bible. If you like end times books... this series is a Must Read.
These first two books are very good and interesting. I do not agree with God just “overlooking” some of the things Toby thinks he will, but I also believe if we repent, we are forgiven. So, the story gets a 4, the theology is improving, and we will see what happens next.
A good second book, not quite as engaging as the first book
This was a good read, but the first half of the book seems to take a while to get going. The character development is fantastic and while there are times Hank seems like he had to be adopted because he seems a bit dense, you still find yourself pulling for him.
I found the story line very interesting. Using the biblical revelation story as the back drop for characters to further explain and relate it. I found the evangelical appeal personally challenging. I am looking forward to the next book in the series!
As good as the first book was , The Four horsemen is even better
This installment was far too goog to put down and was over much too fast . But it is worth the read , Ill get you won't be able to put it down either .
I liked that Toby was not afraid to tell it like the Bible, John has written it. God wants us to know before it is too late. Gods only Son has died to save us.
This guy can really tell a tale! He uses the Bible throughout the book to pen a story about the end times. We don't know exactly how things will go down but it could easily be like this series. It is chilling to think it will likely be much this way.
This is a good read; quite the page turner. A good job in describing the events in the Tribulation period after the Rapture; how the characters act in this very godless time. Very glad the author pointed to the solution, which is Jesus Christ! Onto book three...
This is the second book in the series, can't wait to start the next one. It's true to scripture has wonderful charters. Fast moving exciting some suprises twists and turns. I Highly recommend the book!
I couldn’t put it down, I learned so much about what is to come. I looked up in the Bible to read revelation. Amazing! We can’t know the truth about how it will all play out but this series so interesting and captivating. I am enjoying this series of books.
This continuing series doesn't loose anything. This book is as good as the first book. But his ideas of the rapture and the seven years of Tribulation is spot on. Another great cast of characters. I recommend reading this to all.
This book make reference to the end times and the vanishing of people, I did not read every line, however it was an interesting read. Yes, I would recommend it to others to read as we await the future of mankind, enjoy life!
The story is very compelling. I am now studying Revelations to see the correlation. What I didn’t like about the book is the poor editing. Several grammatical and spelling errors really annoyed me.
How unusual for a writer of Science fiction to have such a deep understanding of Scripture. Hope many will read it and become convinced of God’s love for us. Jesus is real!!
I am really liking the protagonist. The twists and turns that left me wanting more. I do love a good end times tale and this one is delivering. I have picked up book 3 and can’t wait to see how things go as the judgements are revealed.
