"Follow this plan - it works!" says Dr. Mehmet Oz, Professor and Vice-chair of Surgery, NYP-Columbia Medical Center, and Host of The Dr. Oz Show.
Look younger, stay slimmer, feel sexier...no matter what your age! This revolutionary plan to reverse the signs of aging kicks off with a 7-day Jumpstart plan offering all the tools you need to start your total rejuvenation. Then you'll follow the 7-week, science-based program with a holistic approach to looking and feeling younger. Its 7 age erasers cover every base with special regimens for skin care, makeup, hair care, nutrition and diet, fitness, brain fitness, and emotional health. With this program you can "de-age" your skin, use makeup and hair smarts to get a youthful look, rehab your diet and exercise habits to lower your risk of age-related diseases and to lose weight, learn to sharpen your mind, and nurture your emotional health. You'll be surprised at how much you can turn back the clock on your own-without stepping near a plastic surgeon's office, or spending a fortune on expensive beauty products.
The scientists at the Good Housekeeping Research Institute rigorously tested more than 400 beauty products and conducted more than 5,000 lab tests over the course of two years to find the anti-aging products that really work . Then ten test panelists went on the plan. The life-transforming results? One woman lost 12 pounds, another lost an amazing 10 inches from around her waist, and a third restored the glow and smoothness of her skin-improvements that were confirmed by scientific testing. Yet another tester emerged looking more glamorous than she'd looked since she first had kids. As one of the testers said , "There are a lot of diet and exercise programs out there on the market. And there are a lot of beauty tips you can get, but '7 Years Younger' has taken all of those things and put them into a one stop shopping experience for your overall beauty and health and mindset."
"What's great about the program," says Good Housekeeping editor in chief Rosemary Ellis, "is that you can treat it like a tool kit. You can pick and choose which elements of the program you want to focus on."
The Good Housekeeping Institute was created to provide readers of Good Housekeeping magazine with expert consumer advice and delicious, classic and contemporary east-to-follow recipes. These ideals still hold true today. The institute team are all experienced cooks, home economists and consumer researchers. They test the lastest products in purpose-built, modern kitchens, where every recipe published in the magazine and its range of bestselling cookery books is rigorously tested so that you can cook any Good Housekeeping dish with confidence.
So far I am not impressed. I thought this book, which was expensive (around $45 for shipping, etc.) would be my GO TO book for everything. I was a little overwhelmed with reading about how I should care for my skin and face in narrative form.
lots and lots of info on beauty products, exercises, diets, everything to keep you young and healthy i don't have the energy to read the whole book, nevermind actually follow a 7-week plan i learned from this book just how lazy i am...
Everything for a younger you! Simple everyday solutions for women of any age.
Are you looking to kickstart your New Years resolutions early? If so, why not make them count by using proven methods and solutions to help you achieve your goals. As someone who reads and does research on tons of products and self-help books I was not expecting to learn anything new from this book, boy was I wrong. From the very start I learned the best products out on the market proven to work on my problem skin for my current adult condition which includes oily patches that have been clogging my pores.
Divided into 11 chapters this book includes a 7-day jumpstart and 7-week plan to living a lifestyle that will leave women feeling much younger than your current age. Endorsed by Dr. Oz. the 7 Years Younger program was tested by a group of experts and scientists and edited by Rosemary Ellis the Editor-in-Chief of Good Housekeeping. Chock-full of information you will want to go back to again for future reference this guide is for women of all ages. Skin, exercise, sleep, food, stress, memory and so much more, 7 Years Younger covers just about everything for a younger you.
This book is very easy to read and meant to be read a little bit at a time as it can be overwhelming with all the information it provides. I found it best to read a couple of chapters a day then go back for a refresher when looking for something specific. For example, in chapter Age Eraser 1 called "Reclaiming Your Skin," I found the information on peel treatments, which seem highly controversial lately, very interesting and although it had been intimidating to me, helped me feel comfortable enough to purchase my own at home peel treatment. At the end of the chapter, as with all chapters, you will find a chart that gives you those products that are highly recommended and have all been tested by the Good Housekeeping Research Institute beauty lab and by hundreds of women volunteers. You are given a list of the product, category and "Why it's the top tool." You also receive bonus tips throughout the book and the highlights of the women featured who tested the 7 Years Younger plan.
I found all the chapters in this book to be truly inspirational. Even when covering a topic I was already familiar with, it helped refresh my memory while reinforcing that topic. I would recommend this book to any woman out there wanting to look and feel younger who are not looking for anything complicated but are looking to implement simple changes in their life and are ready right now to give it a try.
I am really excited about sharing this book with you and I think it's the perfect time for a little change in our lives for this new year! Who doesn't want to look and feel their best? I know I do! This book starts out with a pledge for you to take and is then divided into 11 chapters. The first 7 chapters focus on the 7 age erasers. They give a wealth of information and tips for your skin, makeup, hair, diet, fitness, brain, and reducing stress. The next few chapters include a jumpstart plan, the 7-week program, and recipes. It can seem a tad bit overwhelming so it's great to have it all broken down into categories.
I have read through this book and can't wait to jump into the plan. This book recommends products that the team have tested and concluded to be the best products out there. Even if you don't follow the plan exactly you can pick and choose things that you want to implement and there are so many tips you can take away from this book for a healthier, more beautiful YOU! Who's with me?!
I am trying to use a fiction then a non-fiction book rotation for my reading so let's see how that goes. This was my non-fiction book that I started last summer and I read a chapter here and there. I read the last 5 chapters this past week and enjoyed the tips and strategies to live healthier. I am not a vain person and focused on the fitness and healthy eating chapters; I particularly liked the "Say Goodbye to Stress" (right!) chapter and the "Your Brain-Only Better" chapter. I plan yo use some of the strategies at the end of the book too. It's good to remind yourself of all the good things you should and need to do for your mind and body and this book was that reminder.
Nothing earth-shattering but straight-forward, easy to read, practical advice. Basically, eat healthy foods, drink plenty of water, exercise, keep your mind active, moisturize, use sunscreen, and update your makeup, hair and wardrobe so that you don't get stuck in the last decade!
My big take-aways: Don't multi-task! I am very guilty of this one! Apply my blush a little higher than I have been and go to bed earlier than I currently do!
I was expecting something more of a holistic approach, Instead it was just about fillers, botox and makeup. None the less it served as a reminder or a crash course on basic grooming
With the New Year just around the corner, this is a time when many people reflect on the past year, resolve to make changes and incorporate a more healthy lifestyle. 7 Years Younger offers the tools and advice needed to begin achieving those goals quickly.
Written by the Editors of Good Housekeeping and endorsed by Dr. Oz, this is a science-based program with a holistic approach to looking and feeling younger. The book is divided into three sections. The first part is a 7-Day Jumpstart Plan followed by the 7-Week Plan and finally a selection of light and delicious recipes. Recommended products were tested by the Good Housekeeping Research Institute.
The 7-Day Jumpstart Plan includes things you can do immediately to look and feel better. For example, revitalizing your skin with some simple makeup tips, getting the vibrant shine and gloss back into your hair, adding some quick fitness routines, eliminating stress and even exercises for your brain. These provide instant gratification and will keep you motivated for the more involved second part, the 7-Week Plan, which involves a commitment to consistency to build new routines and a healthy lifestyle.
The book is easy to read and written in a magazine style with lots of charts, tips and Q & A’s in sidebars and inserted into the text. A formal plan doesn’t work for everyone, and it’s not necessary to follow it in detail to make a difference in your life. There are lots of handy tops and tricks that can be easily added to your current daily routine. There is loads of information, but not overwhelming so, and if you need to find something quickly, there is an index at the back and a list of recipes including nutritional analysis.
Some of the advice contained in the book are things you may have heard before and some is just common sense. Like get enough sleep, add fruits and veggies to your diet, add a little exercise each day. And there were a lot of things I didn’t know, especially about skin care and makeup, from moisturizers to prescription retinoids. The section on brain fitness and memory was very interesting, and the older I get the more tips I can use.
This is not just a ‘beauty plan’ but a map to a lifestyle change encompassing multiple areas including health and nutrition. Even if you’re not following the formal 7-Week Plan, this book is a handy reference tool. It’s already found a prominent place on my bookshelf.
I'm reviewing “7 Years Younger: The Revolutionary 7-Week Anti-Aging Plan” by the Editors of Good Housekeeping before I give it to my wife. When I was asked to consider reviewing the book, I'll admit, one of the reasons I wanted to check it out and give it to my wife is because of the endorsement by Dr. Oz. I've read all of his YOU books and like him. So I figured I'd check out this book, read it first, and then give it to my wife to read and try out some of the tips, suggestions and strategies to not only look younger, but feel younger too.
The book was written by a team, and they have impressive credentials in their fields. The book also starts out with a pledge you make to yourself. This can be a good thing to help a person stick to the plan. The book is then divided into eleven chapters. The first seven chapters focus on the seven age erasers. These are reclaiming beautiful skin, makeup makeover, your hair, your diet, fitness, your brain, and saying goodbye to stress. Each of these chapters contains a wealth of information on the topic in easy to digest fashion which includes sidebars, “Ask the Expert” boxes, and a plan for implementing the most important keys at the end of the chapter.
Chapter eight contains a “Jumpstart” which is a seven day plan to get you going. Then, in chapter nine, a seven week plan is presented to continue along your path toward success and a younger you. Chapter ten contains some simple recipes and chapter eleven concludes the book and encourages you to keep it up forever.
The book is a great guide to healthy living and looking younger. You can incorporate some of the advice, or all of it, and make positive changes in your health and appearance. I'm sure my wife will find some useful tips and strategies as she continues to live as healthy as she can. So if you are looking to turn back the clock, this book can help you do it.
7 YEARS YOUNGER: The Revolutionary 7-Week Anti-Aging Plan is a new book by the editors of Good Housekeeping magazine. Based on extensive product research conducted by the Good Housekeeping Research Institute on hundreds of volunteers, plus interviews with 100+ experts including dermatologists, brain scientists, stress reduction researchers, exercise experts, makeup artists, hairstylists, nutritionists, life coaches, and psychologists, the book delivers a practical anti-aging plan that you can start today.
I received this book several weeks ago and began using some of the recommendations right away. There are many great ideas and tips that really work. One of my favorites is taking a pine bark supplement for younger looking skin. Experts say you won't see the full effect for about 3 months but I can tell a difference already. The book names the best products for skin care, I have to agree with their selections...my skin looks brighter and firmer, fine wrinkles are fading. I'm so pleased with the results.
Here’s just a sampling of the many surprising (and usable) stop-the-clock strategies for beauty, diet, fitness and health included:
-Take a few minutes each day to mentally savor the things you’re thankful for, and you’ll sleep better and longer each night.
- Choose a hydrating or satin-finish liquid foundation, as hormone levels dip and your skin gets drier.
- Shampoo less frequently to avoid hair dye color-fade. Refresh on your off days by spraying on a dry shampoo at the roots to soak up oil and restore volume.
There are many more recommendations techniques that are proven to help you look 7 years younger!
I received a copy of this book free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
I wanted a book that would tell me how to better care for my skin and this book did just that. I read the entire book and enjoyed it, but it isn't anything revolutionary----eat well, exercise, destress, etc....! I'm not sure the program is actually "do-able" for the every day woman/mom/employee since it seems quite time and labor intensive; however, if you just take 2-3 things away from the book and start applying them, I'm sure it will help tremendously! But do them all in 7 weeks---bahahaha!
This book came along at a great time for me. Since going back to work, I've been really lazy with my routine, taking minimal care of myself. I've ordered several (well actually a lot more than several) of the recommended products for hair & skin. They are all working great. Diet & exercise sections don't really have anything new, which is why only 4 stars. The format is a little repetitive, but still, I've gotten a lot of great tips from this.
The Revolutionary 7 week anti-aging plan--it's a little bit of everything. Skin, makeup, exercise, hair, food--I could've just read this and not all those hundreds of self-help books I've read over the years. The recipes look good and the advice on makeup and hair do too. Now the hard part--following it, sticking to the plan--don't think so--this is kinda like a cookbook--I don't make the recipes either.
Some good tips, yet they were mostly chemical-based, not holistic or healthy overall. I felt like this was all about societal expectations of what being and looking "your best" means, rather than the reality that looking & feeling your best begins at the core with nutrition, exercise, and homeopathy. This book tells you how to mask things with make-up, Botox, and chemicals rather than how to recognize harmful patterns and take the steps to better yourself through natural (healthier) methods.
Nothing new here. Lose weight, exercise, exfoliate, wear sun screen, get enough sleep, etc. etc. Yes, I know they are all things I should do. All are good suggestions, just nothing exciting I haven't already read in countless women's magazines articles. I guess I should have suspected this since it listed as being "by Good Housekeeping". I was not expecting any miracle program, but I was expecting some fresh and new ideas.
This book issued by Good Housekeeping is primarily geared towards the 30 to 50 year old young woman with recommendations for health, diet, exercise and makeup. As regards the latter, they provide information on products which have tested favorably in their labs. Although long past that age group I found some of their recommendations and products to be very helpful.
Nothing special, like the hype on the internet would indicate. Accept for the make up and skin care tips , The Hormone Diet is a better choice. The diet is heavy on wheat and dairy, two items that many women need to keep away from. Wheat makes many of us bloaty and dairy is the culprit of adult acne.
Good Housekeeping tested and rated a whole bunch of products on the market, so you'll like this if you want to know the best performing shampoo for colored hair for example, or the best body bronzers or wrinkle creams etc etc
Revolutionary? Not so much. A nice comprehensive review of every woman's magazine you've ever read. I'm glad I borrowed it from the library rather than purchased it. Good for a jump start on focusing on a healthier lifestyle.
Nothing new in this book about dieting and eating healthy. Presentation is interesting, with some suggestions for beauty products and extensive menus for the 7 week period.
