Sheriff Quinn O’Conner has sworn off damsels in distress—especially those with lots of baggage. Still, when Alex moves in next door, he feels duty bound to look after her. He tells himself it’s because of his job, but he knows that’s a lie. Against his better judgment, he finds himself fascinated by Alex’s compelling mix of strength and vulnerability.

As cryptic threats push them closer together, the heat simmering between them rises. But will their budding relationship survive? And more importantly, will Alex?

Christina Sol is an award-winning author who writes what she loves to read — romance books filled with heart, heat, and suspense.

An avid reader from the get-go, Christina was obsessed with The Babysitters Club, Sweet Valley Twins, Sweet Valley High, Christopher Pike, and all things V. C. Andrews. Her love for romance started with the Sunfire books, a YA historical romance series. Caroline by Willo Davis Roberts was her favorite of the series, and a copy of the 1984 novel is one of her most treasured possessions. Then she discovered Danielle Steele and Nora Roberts. And never looked back. She’s still a voracious reader and enjoys all genres of romance, but leans toward romantic suspense and dark romance.

She lives in the inland Pacific Northwest with her husband and two kids. When she’s not writing, reading, or knitting, she’s watching football or fueling her planner, sticker, and washi-tape obsession.

New obsession. I don’t know how I stumbled across this one, but I was immediately drawn in from the beginning, and I loved it. I couldn’t put it down. Alex is on the run from her ex (and he’s actually the worst) and ends up next door to Quinn. As much as she was terrified, these two had a connection from the beginning, and I loved watching these two get to know each other. These two fell fast for each other, but I felt it also fit the pace of the story. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat and my heart was racing most of the way through–I loved it. I was living for Quinn’s protective side, and I loved Alex’s determination to move forward and keep fighting. I also loved getting to meet Quinn’s childhood friends and get to know the found family of Hudson Island! Absolutely loved it and immediately downloaded the next book!

I love romantic suspense novels and I’m eagerly awaiting the next instalment of Catherine Cowles’ The Lost & Found series, so I jumped at the chance to review Shattered Vows which promised the same small town romance with drama aplenty vibes that I love. Plus – check out that cover guy? How could I possibly refuse?

Shattered Vows follows Alex Garcia, who after being hospitalised one too many times by her abusive husband Preston, flees to the small town of Hudson Island at the other side of the country to begin a new life under an assumed identity with the help of the FBI. Luckily for Alex, her neighbour is Quinn O’Conner, the super hot town sheriff who is instantly smitten by Alex and swears to do everything he can to protect her, as Preston will stop at nothing to get her back, dead or alive.

I loooooved this one! Alex and Quinn had the most electric chemistry that caught fire swiftly in the most delicious way! Their relationship was achingly romantic and tender and gave me allll the feels. They fell for each other pretty quickly, but it felt true to their personalities, and Quinn is the kind of guy who knows what he wants, so why wait?! It was refreshing to read a love story that wasn’t bogged down with angst or an unnecessary third act break up, and instead kept the focus clearly on the drama.

Alex is the very definition of a survivor, and despite the challenges she constantly faced, she never gave up and continued to stay strong and fight for freedom and the life that she and her unborn baby deserve. That’s quite a feat as the drama just kept a-coming, and Alex faced more than her fair share of death-defying experiences which were brutal to read at times. My heart broke for her and I loathed Preston with a vengeance. Strong, protective Quinn is perfect for Alex as he helped her to rebuild her confidence and made her feel safe and loved.

This is the first of Christina’s books that I’ve read and I really connected with her writing style and enjoyed every word. The dialogue was on point and the plot was laden with drama, romance, excitement, suspense and sprinkled throughout with humour and quirky side characters.

I particularly enjoyed watching Alex’s relationship with Quinn’s childhood friend Roxy grow and I can’t wait for the next story to find out the root of Roxy and Joe’s drama. Their chemistry was fire, so it’s guaranteed to be a great read!

Shattered Vows is a nail-biting roller coaster of a read that will have you both swooning and hiding behind a cushion!

I was sure that this book would be like a 3 stars read, i mean, surely, it can't be so good? Aside from Karen Rose romantic suspense books, i never wanted to try anyone else's! But now? I. Am. In. Love 😍❤️😍❤️ the writing was soooo good, this is the first time i don't skip while reading a small town romance! The monologues were epic, no repetition and so much beautiful feelings!

Alex is a domestic abuse survivor, she is pregnant and sent by an FBI friend she has to his hometown where she can have a fresh start! She is so broken and vulnerable! My heart broke when reading about what was done to her, i cried a lot whenever she remembered what that asshole of a husband do to her 😭🥺. And yet she proved to be smart, funny and compassionate!

Sheriff Quinn O'Connor is on another level of hotness! Charming, knight in shinning armour, and very protective of his people! Ever since he saw Alex moving next door to him, he felt something for her and he promised himself to keep her safe! He is patient, smart, funny and honestly just perfect! I found myself giggling and smiling whenever he did something for Alex, also, he cooks for her? Yeah, i fell in love with him!

Roxanne is Quinn and Joe's best friend (Joe is the FBI agent) she is smart and very energetic, she put Alex at ease almost immediately after she met her and that made her awesome! I can't wait for her story with Joe. Speaking of Joe, a fed who seemingly has a thing for Roxie but hides with hostility, i liked him 90% of the time, but there was few moments where he annoyed Roxanne that i couldn't stomach him! Yeah Roxie is my favourite character in this book!

Favourite scene (s) is the epilogue! I mean, get you a man who would do anything for you like Quinn did! A beautiful heartwarming reunion! Also, the proposal, and spicy scenes between the main characters 🥵❤️❤️ they were so cute and beautifully written! This book is soooo fast and entertaining with a hint of dark and hard topics to deal with!!

Shattered Vows was an absolute rollercoaster ride from beginning to end. This romantic suspense is filled with tragedy, small towns, hot next-door neighbors, and a fresh start. As always, I recommend looking up content warnings before reading. Parts of this story can be a little heavy.

The dark cloud hanging over her life in Boston forces Alex to flee across the country. Scared for her life and arriving in a new town is where she runs into Quinn, the small town’s sheriff who looks like he can’t be bothered. Being sent there by one of Quinn’s best friend, when her reason for fleeing comes out, Quinn’s attitude immediately changes. For some reason his instinct is to protect Alex, even further than his normal sheriff duties.

As the threat of her old life looms closer and closer, Alex and Quinn form an undeniable bond. Unable to deny the connection between them, neither of the two can fight it anymore. We get to see the romantic moments, the spicy moments, and even some sad moments between these characters. The support group that this small town offers to Alex is just so heartwarming. Joe and Roxie, Quinn’s best friends, take no time bringing Alex into the friend group and the dynamic is one of the best! Not to mention I’m so curious about Joe and Roxie’s history.

With all this being said, the climax of the story will have you sweating on the edge of your seat! I felt like I couldn’t put this book down until I finished it, and I loved every moment of it. I highly recommend this book if you like your spicy, small town romances with a little bit of suspense and tragedy.

Thank you so much to Grey’s Promotions and the author for gifting me an ARC!

Alex is on the run from her soon to be ex husband, staying in the house of the FBI agent who saved her life. While staying there she meets Quinn, the grumpy sheriff. Quinn instantly feels protective of Alex, especially seeing as how her situation is written all over her face - literally.

We also get to meet Joe, the FBI agent who saved Alex, as well as Roxie, a good friend of both Quinn & Joe. I really enjoyed all of the characters but I will admit to being absolutely already sold on Joe & Roxie’s story. I can’t wait for their book to find out more!

Over the course of the book you find out everything that Alex has endured through flashbacks & nightmares. The poor woman really has suffered through so much. I was glad to see that her ex got what he deserved in the end [dead - he got dead].

I wouldn't really say there was suspense to this book. We knew who the big bad was the entire time and there wasn't much of a twist, but it was still an emotional, swoony read!

Read if you like:
-romantic suspense
-he falls first
-small town
-protective MMC
-pregnant FMC

I thoroughly enjoyed Shattered Vows, an incredible romantic thriller by Christina Sol, the first book in her new Hudson Island series. Who does not love a forced proximity romantic thriller with a happily ever after ending? It was an incredible story and I loved reading every moment on every page and it was impossible to put it down. Christina Sol provided her readers with the amazing characters that I loved, who feel like close friends! Her characters in Shattered Vows are so believable and charming, they share great chemistry, lots of laughs, and steamy romance. I love how she developed the story line and the characters. Christina Sol is a wonderful storyteller and is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I love that she wrote Shattered Vows from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting inside their minds and knowing their thoughts and how they really feel. Shattered Vows is filled with heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. I love the lighter moments where I find myself smiling and laughing out loud. My favorite moments are the ones that pull at my heartstrings that cause me to sigh, as I read the heartbreaking moments. Shattered Vows is filled with all those things that I have come to love in a romantic thriller love story, especially the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. Shattered Vows is the story of Alexandra “Alex” Garcia (Natalie Woodsworth), and Hudson Island sheriff, Quinn O’Conner. After being beaten and nearly stabbed to death by her husband Preston Woodsworth III, Alex heads to the home of FBI agent Joe Buchanan in Hudson Island. Quinn was a former FBI agent with Joe, they are neighbors and childhood best friends along with Roxanne “Roxie” Jameson. Alex and Quinn meet when she arrives at Joe’s house after her cross-country trip. Alex is pregnant and Quinn mistakenly jumps to the conclusion that the baby is Joe’s. Joe and the FBI were building a case against Preston for money laundering and helped Alex (Natalie) leave Boston and create a new identity and backstory for her so that Preston could not easily find her. As Quinn and Alex spend time together things begin to change between them. After being in an abusive relationship with Preston for over five years, Alex welcomes Quinn’s kindness. I love the chemistry between Alex and Quinn, especially Quinn’s jealousy, how the sparks fly when they are near one another and that it was more than chemistry, it was love. As Quinn and Alex continue to spend time together, they each realize that they have feelings for one another, and things quickly heat up between them. Mysterious events are occurring regarding Alex and another attempt was made on her life. I love everything that Quinn does for Alex. I love that Alex shares secrets about everything that Preston did to her with Quinn that she has not told anyone before, and why she chose the name Alexandra Garcia, and that Quinn shares his own secrets with Alex, especially regarding his parents’ deaths. I love Quinn and Alex’s love story, and how Alex shows her vulnerable side to Quinn. Then an unexpected plot twist changes things between them, putting Alex’s life in danger. I love how the plot twist shows Alex’s vulnerable side, and all that Quinn is willing to do for Alex to prove his love and that he will put her first and keep her safe. I love all the changes that both Alex and Quinn are willing to make in their lives because of their love for one another. My favorite part of the story was Quinn’s proposal to Alex and the significance of the engagement ring that he gave her. I loved the epilogue and how it went above and beyond a happily ever after, and the surprise that happened at the end of their love story. My favorite part is the separate bonus epilogue that can be downloaded, and how it details Alex’s labor and delivery. I love the name that they chose for the baby and Quinn’s statement when the baby was born. I love the characters in Shattered Vows, the characters feel like family and friends. I enjoyed all the interactions between Quinn, Alex, Joe, Roxie, and their friends, it feels like real family love and makes me laugh at their teasing. Who does not love family and friends that always have each other’s backs? Shattered Vows is filled with all those things that I love in a romantic thriller, incredible characters, amazing story, poignant and bittersweet moments, and surprise plot twists. Christina Sol did not disappoint in her delivery of those things. I love how she resolved the surprise plot twist; it was truly a heartwarming moment. Looking forward to reading Roxie and Joe’s book, the next book in the Hudson Island series. Cannot wait to discover what happened between Roxie and Joe. I am so looking forward to reading the other books in her Hudson Island series. Shattered Vows was an amazing story and I highly recommend it if you love a romantic thriller.

Overall I will say that I enjoyed Shattered Vows. Christina Sol gives us wonderful characters in Alex Garcia and Quinn O'Conner not to mention Joe and Roxie, and from the start, I was all in as this tragic tale unfolded. With Alex on the run from her horribly abusive soon-to-be ex-husband, she finds herself almost 3000 miles away from her life in Boston, setting up house on Hudson Island in the state of Washington. From the get-go, Alex finds herself jumpy with good reason as Quinn becomes her protector and friend and her reaction to anyone getting close to her is a valid one. But the grumpy yet beyond caring Quinn is quite the irresistible Sheriff and I could tell with time, Alex might just be getting herself involved with him simply because her heart said so. And I wasn't proven wrong.

Sol does a great job of carefully peeling back the horrific memories, mostly told as nightmares in italics, that Alex can't seem to shake. The poor woman has been through more than anyone should even be able to survive, but she is a tough cookie and I admired her resilience in spite of all she endured. I thought Quinn was the perfect counter to the god-awful Preston, his caring nature exactly what Alex needed and I knew it was just a matter of time before these two would find themselves closer than perhaps they even thought possible.

The story itself is a good one. Besides Alex's fight to stay safe, there is the ongoing conflict between Joe and Roxie (which is set up well for the next book in the series) and the close years-long friendship they share with Quinn. To say I am beyond curious as to why Joe treats Roxie so badly when that woman is nothing short of wonderful, albeit wicked chatty, has me wanting their story like yesterday. Roxie gives Alex support and a shoulder whenever needed and I found myself really loving her. She puts Quinn in his place when necessary, which gave some much-needed levity especially after Alex's continued bad luck has seemingly followed her across the country.

But I felt as if with everything going on and how badly she was beaten at the hands of her husband for so many years, that Alex acting on the fierce attraction with Quinn felt a bit rushed and almost misplaced. I just feel, and I'm not talking from personal experience thank goodness, that someone who suffered so much would not so easily fall into a physical relationship after only knowing Quinn for a few short weeks. Yes, she had tons of therapy but still, I would think she'd still be very skittish at the thought of being intimate with someone again. I also would have thought her other 'predicament' would have somewhat made her fearful that her husband's worst qualities would forever be a part of her life. I don't know, it just felt a bit too easy for Alex in a way, to move on, when she'd only been a part of the small island community for such a brief time.

The last 15% or so is when things really heat up in more ways than one and I, for one, am glad Alex found her justice even when it meant a bit more pain both physically and mentally to be at her doorstep once again. And not to be a broken record but even though Alex and Quinn clearly have incredible chemistry, I do think they jumped into being serious way too quickly, me being very surprised at what happens in this last part of the book. It was lovely what Quinn did for Alex but everything seemed to be resolved almost too easily for me.

I am glad I read this latest from Sol since I do think she is a talented writer but I think sometimes more has to be fleshed out before that HEA can be achieved. But I will be here for Joe and Roxie's turbulent story next, excited to catch up with Alex and Quinn as well.

In ‘Shattered Vows’ we read the story of Alex Garcia and Quinn O’Conner. Alex has left her previous life behind after she almost got killed by her abusive ex-husband. It’s time for her to finally start over and Hudson Island seems like the perfect place. When Alex moves next into the house next door to Sheriff Quinn O’Conner, she immediately feels save with him. The chemistry between them is flying of the pages right from the start. But is Alex really safe?

Quinn O’Conner is definitely not looking for a woman. But when he meets Alex, all he wants to do is keep her safe and take care of her. And that is what he plans on doing. From the moment they meet Quinn tries to make Alex see that there are people out there who want to be their for her. He tries to keep his own attraction a secret, but Alex makes him feel things he never has before. And when danger comes and tries to take Alex away from him, he is determined to fight for her.

‘Shattered Vows’ was an intense read right from the start. We meet Alex when she is just released from the hospital, and is still mending from her injuries. The author was able to pull me into this story right away. I was rooting for Alex right from the start. And although her abuse was horrible and reading about it pretty hard at times, she was such a strong character. And I loved how she was determined to keep on fighting.

The romance between Alex and Quinn was pretty fast, but it also seemed to fit their characters. I loved how caring Quinn was. He was blown away by Quinn right from the start and it was definitely swoon worthy/ And the moments they spend together where my absolute favorite. There was plenty of steam, and a lot of tender moments I adored.

The suspense was pretty good, but really brutal at times. And some parts of this book felt a little far fetched to me. Fortunately it didn’t bother me too much. For example Alex’s injuries. They seemed to be pretty severe, but every time she bounced back up pretty quickly. As a nurse myself I found that a bit hard to believe.. but people always keep surprising me I guess.

Above all this book really made me curious about the next book and the story of Quinn’s best friends. We read a lot about those two already, and I really can’t wait to find out there story.

This story was a lovely yet heart-wrenching read. At its lead is protagonist Alex. Alex is so easy to love. Not just because of what she went through, how she survived it, but simply for who she is a person/character. I loved her resolve, her determination, and her aspirations to keep going. She’s a very inspiring character I’m glad to have met.

Her individual arc was the highlight for me. Unfortunately the romance is where I did not feel as strong a pull. Considering the recent trauma Alex is going under, I am not sure if I felt entirely comfortable seeing how quickly the (physical) romance between Quinn and her developed. It felt almost rushed, their immediate mutual attraction and intrusive thoughts they had about one another so early on almost stunted the actual love story progression for me. It happened much too quick, and I’d have much rather see a slower burn to their romance, to see them build up in a series of moments rather than in just one fell swoop. I wish the physical aspect has been delayed in favor of a more of an emotional connection to precede it. The lack of connection with the romance did impact my reading experience.

Nevertheless I appreciated Quinn providing Alex the care and support she needed throughout all the trials and tribulations that came her way. Even if it all did evolve quickly, the loyalty and fierce protective nature embraced Alex in a way she deeply needed, allowing her to recognize the need she didn't need to go through it all alone.

Thank you Grey’s Promotions/Valentine PR for providing me an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Holy moly! With tears running down my face! So much happened here in this amazing book! Wow, I’m at a loss for words but I am so in love with these people!

I wasn’t sure what was going on with Alex but I quickly figured it out and had so many emotions flipping through my stomach. I was on edge from what could happen, excitement for new friends and hope for her future. The strength that she has is mind blowing and even after all that to still come out healthy and alive is just inspiring.

I had my hopes up super early from Quinn and while I understood the friendship with Roxie and Joe; I worried someone’s friendship would be affected. I loved his possessiveness but then also his tenderness! Things happened very quickly but it felt right, even from this side of things.

I have to say that I feel like this happens more often than anyone really talks about and while I think some people will think it could be romanticizing things, I personally think that this book is a show of willpower. Willpower to keep breathing, to overcome and be treated how, as a human being, you should be treated. I loved every moment. Even though she was put through so much, it’s amazing to finish the book the way you did! Congrats and I am obsessed with Roxie and can’t wait for her book! (October will hopefully come quickly!)

I absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED Shattered Vows, and I'm super excited to read more in this new series. There's nothing I love more than a thrill ride of suspenseful proportions because I can't get enough of twists coming in hot, and there's all of that in spades with this story. Alex has been in an abusive marriage for several years, and finally after almost being killed, she gets help to run from that horrible situation, plus there's a case being built against her husband for all kinds of shady business. Quinn lives next door to Joe (who has Alex staying with him), and there's definitely a connection but both are doing their best to deny it. Things start to shift when strange things start popping off for Alex, and Quinn is determined to protect her so the more time they spend together, the more sparks are flying, and it won't be long before they ignite. So yeah, there's heat, high emotion (I mean holy hell Alex went through it), and of course the suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat turning the pages as quickly as possible making Shatter Vows utter perfection in my eyes! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I was all in from day one with Alex and Quinn's story. I love romantic suspense but admit I don't read nearly enough of it. While we always knew who the bad guy was, the buildup to the climax was slow, steady and interesting.
Alex has been through a lot and she's trying to start a new life while being wary of the old one. Not even the stand-up sheriff Quinn makes her feel secure though, since most of her experience with the police is less than positive. But Quinn is determined to show her that she can trust him, while trying not to be wrapped up in what he mistakenly thinks is a damsel in distress. Their connection is quick and intense, and I love their pairing.
I too was worried that it was too much, too fast, but considering how quick everything was progressing with her case, it made sense, plot wise.
I'm a sucker for secondary characters but the two most prominent, Roxie and Joe, were a lot. Their pairing looks to be loud and crazy, possibly not in a good way because Jow is kind of a jerk, in my opinion anyway!
Solid 4.25 star rating for me. I love Christina Sol and her latest is just as great as her previous books.

Wow! This book blew me away! It kept me on the edge of my seat and towards the end I was covering my mouth in shock trying to figure out what was going to happen next!

Shattered Vows follows Alex, who is moving on from a tragic past that seems to follow her wherever she goes. She comes to Hudson Island for a fresh start curtesy of her friend Joe. She moves next door to the handsome small town sheriff named Quinn (but of course right?!)

As the book goes on Alex finds herself in situations and Quinn is always there for her! Once they give into their feelings for one another we get to see them come together as a couple for some cute and spicy moments!

Quinn helps Alex realize how strong she is and that she isn't broken like her past makes her think. I loved seeing how much confidence Alex gained by the end of the book! She faced her past head on and became the best version of herself!

We also got to meet Roxie and Joe, who are friends of Quinn's. Joe helps Alex with her past and Roxie becomes her boss at the local bakery. I loved Roxie and Alex's relationship, they both needed each other!

Towards the end of the book there are some bread crumbs for the next book involving Roxie and Joe... I can't wait!

Shattered Vows is a page turning romantic suspense that will keep you captivated until the very last page. Christina’s writing is fluid and quick to read. The characters are relatable and well developed throughout the story. I was a little surprised how quickly Alex let Quinn in, based off of her past, but as you read and get to know them both better their fast-paced romance makes sense. Quinn was the love and support Alex didn’t know she needed. Their chemistry was on fire and their relationship was sweet and romantic.

Quinn is strong and protective and will stop at nothing to keep Alex safe. Alex is broken and has been through so much abuse and trauma, but she is resilient and stronger than she thinks. I enjoyed seeing some of her old self start to shine through. She defines the word survivor.

I loved the friendship that blossomed between Roxie and Alex. Joe and Roxie were fantastic supporting characters. We see plenty of tension and conflict between the two and Christina left me excited to see where their story goes next!

Wow, I'm absolutely blown away by this story! It took me on a thrilling ride, with intense moments that had my heart racing, but it also had such an abundance of heartwarming scenes that filled me with pure joy! The connection between Alex and Quinn was nothing short of magical, and as I discovered the hardships Alex endured with her ex, their bond felt even more profound and meaningful. The small-town atmosphere infused the narrative with a cozy charm that I couldn't resist. Witnessing the townspeople embrace and accept Alex brought such a deep sense of fulfillment. Quinn, oh Quinn, what a swoon-worthy character he was! His interactions with the old timers had me laughing uncontrollably, and the witty banter between Quinn and Rosie was absolutely priceless. Rosie, with her delightful personality, quickly became one of my favorite characters! And let me tell you, the anticipation of Joe groveling and finding redemption has me on the edge of my seat! This book was an absolute delight, setting the stage for what promises to be an incredible series set in a charming small town.

Shattered Vows is a fantastic first installment in a new series by Christina Sol. Romantic suspense, forced proximity and a little simmering friend drama are the perfect mix for this delicious summer read.

Alexandra Garcia arrives on small Hudson Island bruised and broken but determined to start her life over, with some help from the guardian angel who saved her life. Quinn O'Connor is a former FBI agent, turned small-town sheriff, is instantly drawn to the broken beauty but has a psst with damsels-in-distress that makes his spidey senses tingle. But no matter how hard they try, when it's meant to be, why fight it? Quinn and Alex start to create a beautiful life together but when her painful past refuses to stay in the past, Quinn and his friends must keep her safe.

Fantastic read. Great suspense. Awesome characters, even Joe who pissed me off quite a lot with his juvenile treatment of Roxie, and such cute side characters throughout the town. Great start to this new series.

If there is one type of book I'll read over and over and over it is small town romantic suspense. And after catching the blurb of Shattered Vows, I knew I wanted to make it my first read from Christina Sol.

I liked Alex. She was brave even in her fear. Determined to get herself out of a horrible situation. Even if it meant starting over in a new town. I liked that she found someone she could trust early on. It didn't hurt that Quinn was the sheriff.

For as guarded as Alex was, she found a safe place to lay her worries in Quinn. It was his unwavering patience and protectiveness that allowed her to see a future of happiness where they hadn't been one before. If only her past would let her go...

While I loved Alex's resilience, I feel like the romance between her and Quinn was a bit rushed. Especially after all she had endured. That being said I couldn't read it fast enough because I had to know how it would all play out. And let me just say, it was so worth the racing heart.

As a lover of small-town, romantic suspense I always love finding new authors to follow. This is my first book by Christina Sol and definitely won’t be my last!

Shattered Vows is the first book in the Hudson Island series and I enjoyed every second of it. This was intense, emotional and hard to put down. I loved Alex and Quinn together. They had an almost instant connection, great chemistry and their romance was so sweet. It does develop pretty quickly but it worked for them.
Quinn is a protector through and through and he's exactly what Alex needs. My heart broke for Alex and everything her ex put her through but she’s a fighter. I admired her strength and determination to survive and start a new life for herself and her unborn child.
I loved seeing Alex begin to heal from her trauma and start to become her old self again. Seeing Alex and Quinn fall in love was 👌🏻

The romance, suspense and drama were all SO GOOD. I can't wait to start Roxie and Joe’s story!

I love some good romantic suspense and this book surely delivered that in spades!

After years of being in an abusive marriage, having been in hospital more times than she can count and pregnant, Alex has moved to Hudson Island with the help of her neighbor Joe who's undercover for the FBI. She's totally lost, scared by the tiniest move and doesn't know what she's gonna do next but determined to build up a new life for her and her unborn baby.

Quinn is Hudson Island's sherrif, he's gorgeous, grumpy as can be but overprotective of the people of his town. He's got a weakness for damsels in distress but has sworn to not be persuaded again after a bad expierence. When Alex moves in next door however and he sees what has been done to her, all bets are off. He vows to protect here and make sure life is as comfortable as can be.

Alex also strikes up a friendship with Roxanne who's grown up with Quinn and Joe and who's living in Quinn's guest house. Bit by bit, Alex comes to trust Quinn, starts to open up and dares to believe again that everything will be okay.

I was really blown away by this book, it's got everything I like in a good story: romance, action, a bit of banter and a super epilogue.

I can't wait to read the next book which will be Roxanne and Joe's.

It had elements of Catherine Cowles

3.75 stars

This reminded me of certain elements of Catherine Cowles like the small town and the suspense. I thought that those elements were done really well.

The suspense had the ultimate stakes with Alex’s psycho ex. All that she went through with him in both past and present was just horrific. It was hard to read at times. It just showed how much Alex deserved all the good things after all that.

The romance was just okay for me. I liked Quinn and Alex together, but there was just something missing between them that I wasn’t as consumed as I would have liked. I thought things could have slowed down a bit more and have more build up between the two of them especially after what she been through. In my opinion, they slept together way soon.

This is the first in a new series, and this is Alex and Quinn’s journey. Alex is a survivor and moves to Hudson Island to try a build a new life for herself and her unborn baby, far away from her abusive soon to be ex-husband who is in jail. Quinn is the small towns sheriff, and from the moment that Alex moves in next door to him, he is determined to protect and keep her safe. This is a well written action-packed emotional roller coaster, with secrets, danger, suspense, intrigue, twists, friendships, romance, and love, which leads to an entertaining, unpredictable, tragic, and steamy addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

4.3 ⭐️

I had the honor to receive this book as an ARC from Christina Sol!

I really enjoyed this story and all the characters involved, except Preston (iykyk). Christina’s storytelling is very smooth and grabs your attention from the first few pages, which I always appreciate. I will say some of the story was a little rushed for me (more on that later) but all in all it was a solid read that I would recommend to friends! I would also definitely read the TW on the authors website before jumping in to this story.

Alexandra (such an amazing and strong name 😉) Garcia is tough no doubt about it. She has been through the ringer multiple times at the hands of her abusive soon to be ex husband but continues to come out stronger each time. Quinn O’Connor is definitely the strong quiet hero type who loves his people fiercely. At first he is a little untrusting of Alex but he soon steps into the roll of protector just like his best friend knew he would. The chemistry between Alex and Quinn is explosive (in a good way) and I love a good HEA.

Possible spoilers ahead………

The story as a whole is great and Christina sets up our next book in the series like a pro, making you count down the days till Roxie and Joe’s story is out. The one problem I had that made me give less then 4.5 ⭐️ is the fact that even thought I felt like Alex and Quinn were destined for each other, that part of the story felt super rushed. I understand traumatic events can bring people closer together (and you also don’t want the book to drag on and on). I just felt like their physical relationship was put on FF x5 when I would have loved to see their personal connection grow a little more before jumping into bed together. All in all there was a beautiful love story that came out of a very dark situation that was very well written!

If you love a good thriller with romance and some 🌶️ then this book is for you! Can’t wait to get my hands on Roxie and Joe’s book!!

Oh my GAH!!!!

*This book has some triggering content*
Let. Me. Tell. You. This book is OMG incredible!!
I couldn't put it down for longer than a few minutes at a time!! I just had to keep reading it... because it's like one of those movies that you just can't take your eyes off of! It triggered memories, it made me cry, cringe, laugh, swoon, heal, love, feel angry, worry and concern...so much more that I'm sure I just can't concentrate enough to write at this moment because I still have a book hangover, but it is incredibly well written, and I'm so thankful that I had this amazing book sent to me. I have no idea how long it's been sitting in my TBR, but it just screamed my name when I saw it and I knew it was time. Thank you, Christina Sol, for this masterpiece ❤️

Alexandra Garcia arrives on Hudson Island, Washington battered, bruised and pregnant. Her husband is in jail and shes trying to put her past behind her. A FBI agent, Joe Buchanan, was undercover in the house next to hers and he saved her life. He sends her to his house to hide out until she has to testify against her husband. Quinn O’Connor is the Sheriff, Joe’s best friend and lives next door. He swears not to fall for the damsel in distress again but soon finds out Alex is no damsel. Quinn can’t help but fall for the beautiful woman and even though she isn’t divorced yet, she falls for him. Quinn plans on protecting Alex no matter what.

First time reading this author but it will not be my last. Action. Steamy. A crazy ex. Two friends who are at each other’s throats.

The suspense drew me in and then the characters kept me turning the pages to learn their story. I loved so much about this book - the growing relationship between Alex and Quinn; the enduring friendship between Quinn, Roxie, and Joe; the interesting secondary characters; the small town; and the range of emotions brought out throughout the story (from horror to humor to love). It was difficult reading the parts about the abuse that Alex suffered at the hands of her husband, but it was an integral part of her story. And we were given a tease of what is to come in the next book (can't wait to read Roxie and Joe's story).

Shattered Vows is a romantic suspense involving Alex who has come to the island to heal and hide from her abusive husband. Quinn is the small town sheriff who his friend Joe has asked to watch over Alex. I really enjoyed this romance. While it was a bit quick, their love story was fun to watch. I loved the way Quinn took his time gaining Alex's trust and let her set the pace. Especially given all she had been through. I was fully invested in them. Just be aware that there are graphic descriptions of domestic violence. I also loved the town and how the residents embraced Alex. I highly recommend this one. I can't wait to read Roxy and Joe's story!

This had me hooked early on and I didn't want to put it down. We have Alex, she's in a new town, on her own, and just wanting to heal. I love her! She's pulling herself up with all she has. Quinn is the protective guy next door. The sheriff, with amazing friends, an amazing heart, and that pull he has to her is so intense. The story is full of nail biting situations, emotions, sweet, heat, and some hard topics. I think everything is handled very well, and kept me involved. This is a great read, and a really great start to this new series. I'm looking forward to what is next!

Tension and Romance!!

Alex Garcia (not her real name) is on the run from her husband (soon to be ex) who tried to kill her. Traveling to Hudson Island WA where friends of a friend are offering housing and protection.

Roxie runs Comfort Food and offers Alex a job. Quinn O’Conner is a neighbor, and the local Sheriff. A tough recovery, a brutal backstory and slowly coming to life as small-town charm and warmth are just what Alex needs.

Powerful people can always sidestep authorities though, and danger comes knocking. Exciting, romantic and an incredible story which will keep you on the edge of your seat.
