Coming back to the present was the least of Lexi Hunter's problems. She has some decisions to make . . . decisions that will be life-altering. When Dan doesn't return from the past right away, Lexi begins to wonder if he even survived the attack that she nearly witnessed and struggles to find a way to bring him back as soon as possible. Meanwhile, she must decide if she wants to drink the potion that will make her an immortal. As Lexi tries to ward off Rhonda and learns some dark secrets about Gabe, she also deals with the threat of the Briar Creek vampires finding out where she's been hiding.

I think this one is my favorite but Rhonda has to die. She is controlling Gabe too much. However maybe they are the perfect couple because Gabe has a bit of a black heart as well. But Rhonda is bat shit crazy and now is after Dan. I really want her gone. Does anyone know when book six will be released?

The story's outcome was satisfying, especially Lexi's relationship. But what will Rhonda do next?! Besides, I also want to find out who murdered Veronica. If Rhonda isn't the culprit, then who is this other villain in the school? And what became of the student Rhonda left seemingly lifeless in his room? I thought he was dead, but it didn't get discovered.

There's also something else that Gabe hides. I wonder what 🤔. But as long as it doesn't jeopardize Dan and Lexi's relationship, I'm okay with it! Finally, I'm wondering if we'll hear from Mary-Kate again. While I wouldn't mind if she remained in the past, her presence there could alter the course of history, right? I can't wait to read the next book!

What I liked:
-Lexi. My love-hate relationship with this girl seems to have ended. She had her stupid moments throughout his book, but she was also much more mature about things. She was stupid for not heeding the warnings of a friend, but I still felt like she grew as a character, and that’s something I’ve been waiting for since the first book. For the first time, I didn’t see Lexi as a spoiled, whiny brat. Instead, I saw her as a young woman who was willing to get off her lazy butt and fight for something. I was actually mildly impressed with her development towards the end. Her selfless act truly was selfless.
-Dan. I still really love his character, and I was glad to see his interactions with Lexi. It was fun watching them grow closer to one another; I just wish it had been done a little more slowly. Relationships like that bother me because they’re not realistic. Team Dan.
-Action. There was actually some action in the end of this book. Normally it’s nothing more than drama that gets solved within like ten pages. But this book actually had a fight scene in it, and even though things moved way too quickly for my liking, it was great to finally see all of these people in action, fighting for what they know is right.

What I disliked:
-POV. I still greatly dislike the multiple point of views. I hate reading about Lexi for so long and then jumping to one random chapter from Gabe or Rhonda’s point of view. I think the story could have been better if it was just Lexi, or even Lexi and Dan. We could have seen things going on at Huntington and back in the past. That would have been more fulfilling and easier to read than so many scattered point of views.
-Writing style. Probably my biggest problem with this series is the complete and total lack of emotion the characters experience. When they do feel emotion, we’re never described that emotion, we’re just told the characters are feeling it. We aren’t show that a character is heartbroken or angry, we’re just told, and that’s either a bit of lazy writing, or a bad case of telling instead of showing. I feel little to no emotional connection to any of these characters. They could all die and I honestly wouldn’t care, and that’s a problem. Like I’ve said before, why should I care if they die if even they don’t care?
-Anna and Austin’s relationship. It is so overdone in my opinion. I honestly don’t see where all of this love is coming from. That word gets thrown around quite a bit in this series, and I’ve never once believed a character when they said it. I just don’t see any love between them. It’s more of an over the top teenage fling trying to act like real love, and I don’t buy it at all.
-Rhonda. She honestly serves no real purpose to the series other than to screw things up for Lexi and Gabe. I like that she’s crazy and not “normal”, but I’m nearly positive she’s going to die in the next book or two just to get her out of the way. I hope I’m wrong, because I really hate it when authors introduce female characters solely to make them the “bitch” that messes with the heroine’s love life. I’d be severely disappointed if that’s all Rhonda’s character is good for.

Overall, this was a good book. It wasn’t as good as the last one, but better than the others before it. I enjoyed getting to know Dan a little better, and I liked the action at the end. However, the writing is very flat and emotionless. But if you can power through that, the series is definitely worth the money. If I had to pay more than a dollar per book, I’d have probably given up long ago. But if you’re a hardcore fan of vampires, this is probably a great series for you and I would recommend it. 4.0

Well I wasn't expecting the series to take such a turn. It was a great read. I have really enjoyed this series. It keeps you on your toes. CRAIG - grrrrrr, I knew there was a reason that I didn't like him... He lures Lex out of the dorm because he says that Gabe is trapped in the Bear Cliff Park and can't get out. Knowing that she would go with him, he breaks out of the school, because the schools on lockdown due to the BC (briar creek vamps) surrounding the school. So, they get the to park, leads her up to a mountain top, claims he can smell Gabe (which btw Lexi should've realized that Vamps can't smell each other) tries to drain Lexi, she flashes an image of Dan's face while he(Craig) is choking her and BOOM - Dan's back from the 1800's.

So, all in all, she gets saved, drinks the potion that Craig stole, and is waiting to become immortal. Gabe admits to killing Justin due to jealousy, and Lexi never wants to speak to him again. The town surrounds the school again demanding to see Lexi; wolves bring her out and its an all on fight. I will leave you with that because what happens next....you'll just have to read it... :-)

I LOVED THE OTHER BOOKS, this was my LEAST favorite out of all the book by these authors!!! I've said it once when u love someone as a child that should be ur true love!!!:( I am a HUGE GABE FAN & to turn him into a sissy freak that could care less about Lexi I DIDNT LIKE nor did I like the fact that she just completely forgave Dan for everything no questions asked!!! The good parts were her meeting her father & other minor stuff!! I'm glad theres another one HOPEFULLY THEY WILL FIX THIS NEW STUPID GABE & bring him back to the amazing guy the played him up to be in all the other books!!! :(

When Lexi returns to the present, I was shocked to watch her relationship with her father struggle. I also dislike the Gabe we got to know and the horrible vampire he created. I wish someone would just take her out already. We also find that the vampire that sired both Gabe and Ben has been killed but by who? My guess is by Ben himself but I don't even know that that is really an issue or if it will be resolved in later books. This book kept me entertained and I loved watching the relationship develop between Lexi and Dan.

Lexi had a couple of stupid moments, but I still liked her. The plot finally seems to be moving forward at a steady pace, and I like where it's going. Some of the relationship are a little unrealistic or not very well developed, but for the price, this series is pretty good. I would definitely recommend it.

I loved this book!! I love all the books, but typically I find that Lexi can be rather annoying. However in this book she appears to have matured. I love that her and Dan are together as I have adored him since the first book. Cant wait for book six!!
