Maddie Graves-Winters is looking forward to a week of relaxation with her best friends. She had no idea a camping trip would be so stressful, however. She might have been picturing s’mores and ghost stories around the campfire, but the world has other plans. Having her best friends Ivy Morgan-Harker, Harper Harlow-Monroe, and Rowan Gray-Davenport—as well as their husbands and children—around for a full week is her idea of bliss. There’s just one little problem. Maddie doesn’t consider herself a suspicious person by nature, but when one of the college-aged girls at a nearby campsite goes missing—and nobody seems to care—she’s intrigued. Then, when a mother at a different campsite also appears to have disappeared in the middle of the night, she’s officially on the case. Maddie and her friends can’t seem to help themselves from investigating. Their husbands are another story. They’re convinced the women are making things up in their heads. Who will turn out to be right? And if it’s the women, what happens when they draw a potential killer’s attention to their campsite? The group is strongest when they’re together. But this trip might be the death of one of them.
This is an entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. A find cast of characters and storyline. This series is an extended series of four previously individual series for women with magical skills and their families. After 20+ books for each of them they combined into one after they all became friends And started working together. Ivy Morgan, Harper Harlow, Maddie graves, and Rowen gray each with unique and magical skills. Three of them are married to police detectives when is married to a former military intelligence security expert and you cannot go through the day without Harper Harlow‘s best friend Xander and his husband Sean and tossing all of the kids together. Once again they’ve gotten together for an adventure and I’ve gone on a camping trip. Read on and see what their adventure leads to and how much trouble they can get into. Always a spectacularly entertaining series and a fun read.
This was a great addition to the series. I love all of the interactions between the characters. I love that Finn is showing powers, and that they seem to be stronger than the other kids. I can’t wait to see more of our four main characters and their families.
I enjoyed each of these four couples.when they had their own series but I enjoy even more reading about them interacting together. The bond between the four women is their magic and how they use it to solve mysteries. Their husbands being in law enforcement (apart from Quinn who was in charge of security on a cruise ship so close enough) gave them two things to bond over (their wives being no 1) and let's not forget Zander and Shaun, as if you ever could. The five couples have over time become a family and their children are becoming a bit part of their story now............... As they are showing that they have inherited more than just she and her colour from their mum's. This book sees the group taking a small holiday, they've gone camping for a week......yes we all know how much Jack loves camping and how.nothing bad ever happens....................not much...............
This is another great book in the Return to Magic series by Lily Harper Hart. What could go wrong on a camping trip with 10 adults and a hoard of kids.
I agree with Jack on this one - camping stinks. Well, I agree with HIS feelings about it, because having a witch for a wife and now a daughter with abilities, too, complicated things tend to happen a bit too frequently and it’s better to handle such things near home rather than in the middle of the woods. However, as always Jack and Ivy may be camping, but they’re not alone because their friend Maddie who also happens to be a witch invited them. And of course there can’t be that much fun without the other two witchy friends and their spouses and children.
So all in all there are 4 women with magical abilities and their 4 non magical husbands and their children (6 total) and of course there’s no way I won’t mention Harper’s best friend Zander and his husband Shawn who have twins of their own. So, the lineup for the 1 week camping excursion includes 10 adults and 8 children.
As we finish out the fourth book we discover that the children have been the focus and the magic they discover within themselves. In this book a person that wasn’t even considered as having abilities says some things that prove otherwise. The person mentions having a dream about a woman named Monica, her husband Randy, and Randy’s teen son in a verbal altercation. Monica disappears soon after the dream and no one even thinks to relate the dream to the disappearance. Coincidence? Not in this witchy group.
Prior to Monica’s disappearance is Annie’s absence and then Sophia is missing. What is going on at this campground? Are women being abducted by a deranged serial killer or is there a reasonable explanation? Read and find out!
This book is the 4th in a 5 book series, but unfortunately book 5 “There’s Something About Magic” won’t be released until January 2, 2024; however, when I think about it that date is only a few weeks away.
I won’t be starting book 5 today, so I’m going to read book 29 in A Peridale Cafe Mystery series by Agatha Frost called “Pumpkins and Peril”.
It continues to be fun to watch the characters we know and love adapt to family life, but I don't think Hart has hit her stride in this venue yet. She's got romance and mystery down pat, but doesn't seem to know quite what to do with the kids. I expect she'll fast forward to get them to teens as she did with the Lake-Winters. If we're lucky, she'll figure out how to use them as pre-teens with the moms in guest roles. Maybe a kids adventure alternating with an adult one. Trying to mash everyone together doesn't really serve the story, or the characters. I'd rather have a great story with only one or two of the allies, where we get to see how things left in the air in the original series, than a mediocre one like this. I do have faith that it's within her capabilities.
The gang are altogether again on a big family camping trip... even Jack and Zander! Trying to corral the kids, keep a lid on the drama, and still manage the romance could be tricky with this eclectic mob!
All the usual kayaking and hiking is planned to prove to Jack camping is fun, but it doesn't take long for things to go a little bit wonky.
Between Finns' new friend Ethan with the odd parents and mean teenage brother, to the paired up college kids down the way drinking and screaming, worries abound, so when some women go missing and there appears to be no trace the mums and one surprise magical addition go hunting while the men keep the kids occupied and pull a few strings here and there. But really its that surprising extra who resolves the case with their own special powers.
I'm absolutely loving this new series of Ms. Hart's!
I'm reading quite a few of Ms. Hart's series. All are fantastic! I started with Harper Harlow series and branched out from there. Read several of the crossovers which were also very good. I enjoyed the storyline in this mystery and that there were happy endings for all concerned. It'll be interesting reading about the growth of Finn's magical powers. I love the combination of 4 of Ms. Hart's main female characters to make up this great series!
Having the four friends interacting as moms and wives with their children and husbands makes me happy and very glad that Sander and Shawn are included, too. With the children finding their powers and growing into their own personalities, it makes my reading time more fun. I am looking forward to exploring more of the children's magic and I hope the series continues for many books.
I love camping, haven't done it in a few yrs, I think its time to head out to the mountains. Living in Colorado we have plenty. Jack is funny poor guy has not had good camping experiences, I guess if I had his luck I wouldn't want to go camping either. The ladies doing what they do best, interfere. Haha, they wouldn't be the ladies we love if they didn't. On to the next adventure.💙💚
This series is unique as the four lead characters all had there own series & we got to know them and as they met their spouses and later each other. This series had a couple mysteries in it. They were both cozy and I didn't see either outcome until it unfolded. Fabulous job Ms. Hart on the cozy mystery and the awesome characters in this series.
What happens when? Up-and-coming women of magic now have families
They become best friends, and they create a community that sometimes is shocking. When you have that many children from that many magical beings, it really shouldn’t be a surprise when gifts are flying everywhere but when friends gather for some downtime, they can never seem to get away from Mysteries
I have been a huge fan of Lily Harper Heart from the very first book that I read. I suffered through her obnoxious best friend and cheered when the romances started. I cannot and will not continue through the children's years. They are obnoxious, tedious and ruin the story. No more.
Loved the story. The camping trip ended on a happy note and I love having all these characters in one book. There are a few minor frustrations in the book for me, but they don’t deter from a great story. I’m excited for the next book.
This is the fourth book in A Return to Magic Cozy Mystery series and I really am enjoying the series. I just love that all of the characters from four of her series are together in this one. This series is a must read for all the Lily Harper Hart fans.
The characters in this series are very interesting and carry on what was already a great q from 4 other stories by this Author. Getting to know their children and their abilities makes it even better.
Heroines! lovely to revisit past characters. Hysterical that they are trying camping again! Despite past disasters the cast keep up the positive attitude and EVERYONE is saved!
Book 4 finds the whole crew camping. And, if you've read other series from this group, you know what happens on camping trips.....chaos, disappearances, possible murders, mysteries, and mayhem. There is also family time, fun, laughs, and love. Highly entertaining.
Enjoyable paranormal series to read, When finished with this series will have to read the individual couples series. Unfortunately I started this series before discovering each couple had their own series.
The whole group of friends are going camping and , of course, women are missing and to top it off Finn is dreaming while awake. Can Maddie and friends get to the bottom of everything while keeping everyone happy, Good read.
