I received an advance ARC form the author for my honest review and I also purchased it on amazon.com. Something I like to do, to support one of my favorite authors.

How can you not like Leine Basso character, she's superhuman, tough as nails, no fear, can handle any situation, lethal with a gun and protector of the weak, that can't defend themselves.

She's a retired assassin, retired from Shen, moved to Italy and bought a Bookstore. Trying to enjoy her retirement, do some reading and waiting for her partner Santa to retire from LAPD.

The coolest thing with this series, is that Berkom just grabs your attention from the first paragraph, just transports you into the pages, your right their for all the action, love that she adds new elements to the story, which makes the reading more enjoyable and be them good or bad, she just vividly brings her characters to life.

A young women who witness the murder of her boyfriend, comes to Leine's bookstore, seeking refugee, of course she's going to help her and enable her to escape. Ultimately gets involved into a organized crime thriller, to help them get free from having too make protection fees or face direr consequences if they don't.

Did like how D.V. added elements of WW2, with the rooftop, the description of her shops layout, with the living quarters, also some of her talking with other business owners in the small Village, the trap door and in how they banded together to stand with her.

Leine will get identified by one of the criminals, which brings someone from her past who wants justice for the death of his older brother and mentor friend to him. The neat thing is that she seeks help from Lou, who helps get a team brought into help her that has several friends of her's from her days when she was known as the Leopard. Her writing brought to mind two other characters from her past Leine novels to make an appearance.

Being Jinn and Derek, would have been the perfect story for them, especially with Lou making arrangement for recruiting help for her, that didn't happen, the story was still good, twist and turns and briefly due to the Leine thinking about the trapdoor, just for a moment thought she was killer her off and then realized it would be the demise of the nemesis from her past.

Definitely if you haven't yet, highly recommend that you give author D.V. Berkom a try and you won't be disappointed.

Another nail-biter…

Leine Basso has found the perfect little Italian village for an idyllic retirement where she can finally find some measure of peace and run a small bookstore. No one in Scivoloso knows her or knows about her colorful past which is exactly what Leine wants. She has even chosen a new name, Ava, to forge a fresh start for herself. All too soon, though, trouble comes knocking on her door in the form of a young woman who witnessed a brutal murder and is being pursued by the ruthless killers. It just isn’t in Leine’s genetic makeup to ignore a desperate plea for help. What unfolds from there is a full-throttle adventure in which Leine, some former colleagues, and the citizens of Scivoloso engage in an all-out war against Albanian and Italian mafioso. Buckle up for a nail-biting thriller rife with colorful characters and non-stop action. I have enjoyed all the previous Leine Basso thrillers but this one had extra impact for me in that Leine, a newcomer to the village, puts her life on the line to protect the people of her newfound community and they, in return, risk their own lives to help protect her. I highly recommend this compelling addition to one of my favorite series.

I was provided with an advance copy of this book, for which I thank the author, but I am sharing my honest and unbiased review on a completely voluntary basis.

Reading Stuff 'n' Things

Once again, DV has surpassed herself and created another enthralling adventure to add to the already amazing Leine Basso back catalogue which just keeps getting better and better. I think with this one, it works well as a standalone but I would recommend reading the rest of the series as you won't be disappointed.

Ava (aka Leine) has decided to retire and move to a village in Italy to open a book shop. Sounds idyllic and simple? Well ... with Leine nothing is that straightforward and when she gets embroiled in the death of a local villager and a local racketeer, it's not only her life that is under threat but the life of the entire village and so she engages her colleagues from her previous life to help out with heart-stopping consequences.

As with DV's previous books, it is littered with excellent characters with Leine being one of my all-time favourites; she is strong, brave, not afraid to kick bottoms but with a soft side that is endearing. The story is exciting, the pace is fast and the setting is perfect.

All-in-all, this is another hit for me and one I won't hesitate to recommend to lovers of books that are full of action with a strong female lead. I can also highly recommend this series and once again, thank you to D.V for accepting me as a member her ARTeam and for enabling me to read and share my thoughts of Terminal Threat and my hungry eyes can't wait to read the next!

Oh wow! This book kind of reminded me of MacGyver (with Leine taking on the bad guy's by herself) and quickly escalated into the A-Team (with some familiar faces got in on the action) and I loved every minute. I did find myself wanting to skip ahead to see if everybody made it to the end and I think if I hadn't been reading on my kindle I would have, instead I just had to keep reading with my fingers crossed. As you can tell I liked the characters and being set in the small town community the author made you care about what happened to all of them. A few heart pounding situations later, I regretted getting to the end so quickly but definitely didn't regret reading it. I just loved the book and can't wait for the next book.
Leine tries to make a totally clean break from her previous life as an assassin. A small town in Italy seems the perfect place for her and Santa to settle down, once he retires. Instead a late night banging on her bookshop door has her once again picking up her guns and the small quiet town suddenly gets very noisy. Someone from her past recognises her and informs a man looking for revenge for the death of his brother. A man willing to burn down an entire town to make sure she is dead. Can Leine protect the town once the bullets start flying, especially as there all have her name on.
I was given this free review copy book at my request and have voluntary left this review.

My reading year is only complete when a Leine Basso thriller is in it. It's Leine: it's always going to be a rollercoaster ride. So, when you learn our favourite ex-assassin Leine is about to settle into a new, peaceful life in small coastal Italian town, you know that just isn't going to happen. Trying to save the locals from an extortionist inadvertently finds her at the business end of revenge. You can't be an assassin without making enemies who have long memories, especially when one of them who thought she was dead, discovers otherwise.

At which point, you can forget about enjoying Leine's sun, sea and gelato-filled siestas and prepare for your roller-coaster adrenaline fix! Leine is just as skilful and magnificent as ever.

This is my twentieth book by Berkom. It's every bit as compelling, fast-paced and brilliant as the first. This is an author (without doubt my favourite) who packs a mighty punch in everything she writes and 'The End' always makes you sigh a 'how long till the next book?'. I hope there's another Basso thriller. She's never going to have a quiet life, now, is she?

D.V. Berkom has created another Leine Basso novel, full of non-stop action and intriguing characters, this time based in Italy. She encounters many friends, and several enemies who do their best to be sure she is dead. This is a page turner, folks, with our heroine using all of her skills to stay alive. I do not believe in reiterating storylines as I feel it steals from other readers' enjoyment, but I highly recommend this to any who enjoy action thrillers. I received an ARC and this is my honest assessment of t his novel.

I thought this was one of the best so far in the Leine Basso series. It had twists and turns and lots of 'badassery' that is typical from Leine and her partners in crime. Lots of great characters and a real page-turner. Also enjoyed all the great imagery of Italy, especially since I may be traveling there soon. Overall, a really great read!

It seems Leine doesn't do quiet very well!
Will this ideal little Italian town survive Leine's purchase and her help. Is she really a help or a hindrance.
DV Berkom has created yet another bang-up and splash of a novel. Her characters jump off the page and her story captivates.

Another thrill ride by d.v. While most series get old after 10/12 books ( for me anyway)
The Leine series , is not only always a great read, but the different locations are always intriguing, and always interesting. An ex government assassin trying to retire in an out of the way small Italian village, just seems to attract people in trouble. And is always up for the job. If you are tired of "over the top" super heroes you need to meet Leine!

Ava (Leine)Basso believes she has retired in a small Italian town until she helps a young woman running for her life. Ava helps the town’s people to end the extortion and the corruption by working together. Recognized by one of the extorters, Ava’s life and the townspeople are in for a battle of her life and their town.
D V. Berkom has once again created a fast-paced, action-filled, nail-biting story filled with intrigue and suspense.
Will the former assassin trying to retire ever find the peace she is seeking? Or will her enemies continue to seek her out?

I love Leine Basso and have seriously missed her.
She has retired to a small village in Northern Italy with a view setting up a bookstore and to being joined by Santa when he retires so they can enjoy the quiet life away from their high energy edge of the cliff working lives.
But! There is always a “but” isn’t there? But, life in the quiet village is not as it seems. Leine, using her new assumed name of Ava Basso (not much of a name change to be honest), is in her bookstore when there is a battering on her door. Carefully she allows the visitor (Gabby) in and establishes that Gabby has just witnessed her boyfriend, Eduardo, getting murdered on the beach and had run away from the scene unsure whether the murderers had recognised her from her distant vantage point. Ava takes over the situation and sends Gabby away, promising to visit her relatives to explain what has happened. Ava learns from Gabby’s uncle that they and many others in the village are subject to oppression by an Albanian gangster and are paying protection money. The Albanian is small time compared to foes Ava has come across in the past. The murder of Eduardo and the protection racket are linked. Clearly this is a situation Ava cannot allow to continue and gets the support of all the village to try to combat the problem. However, the problem escalates and Ava is really battling against the odds when another Albanian gangster gets involved and he is a very nasty character. Fortunately Ava has trusted friends of her own!
The story is absolutely gripping and fast paced, I couldn’t put it down. I won’t spoil the story by telling everyone everything that happens. Trust me, this story is top notch and you will not be disappointed, especially if like me you like the Basso books.

Leine Basso has done it again: she has channeled herself through author DV Berkom to lay out the latest episode in her life. It is 'Terminal Threat,' which begins with her search for a place of peace and comfort after her tumultuous life seems to have taken too much of a toll.

Leine is seeking to build a “retiring” existence she can share with Santa, who is also edging toward retirement and wanting to share these goals with Leine. Predictably, Leine has triggered one of life's tripwires and there is a very old enemy who is informed of her continuing existence and wants her to return to the dead he has thought of her for the past couple of decades.

This latest in the arc of Leine's adventurous life is the best of the series to my mind. I have read all of this series from the beginning and they have been captivating throughout. DV Berkom has a remarkable talent for bringing Leine and all her supporting characters to life and making us care about them. This latest novel has a lot of moving parts – somewhat akin to 'Shadow of the Jaguar' – although altogether different in style and setting. 'Shadow' has been one of my favorites in the series and 'Terminal Threat' is on a par in my appreciation of the series.

I feel strongly that I would love to see Berkom's books find their way to broader circulation, including libraries where new readers might develop an affinity for her writing. I suggest reading *all* of this series – start with the prequel, book #5, 'A Killing Truth'. This brings a better perspective to book #1, 'Serial Date', which begins her post-Agency saga. Get 'em how you like 'em, print or e-reader, but get 'em.

Leine is back! After reading the previous novel in the series, I was certain Leine had retired or would retire.

I was correct! She has retired and moved to a small coastal town in Italy to open a bookstore and her love Santa will be coming to visit in the next week or so prior to joining her full time when he retires in a year.

That’s right. Leine is retired and Santa is coming to town!

But! Life could never be that easy for Leine Basso and it isn’t.

The action, the thrills, the tension never stops. You can’t stop reading! You may miss a meal or two because you just don’t know how or when to pause.

A brother of an Albanian mobster is out to get his revenge against Leine for killing his brother when she was an assassin. The town is being attacked by a group in the “protection” racket. A young woman is being chased by those she witnessed murdering her fiancé. Is the Mafia involved? The police? Where can she turn for help?

Nonstop action!

I’d rather not go into detail, but I urge you to get involved, because you don’t simply read a DV Berkom novel. You get pulled in and feel completely involved. You don’t feel like you’re just an observer.

As with all great writers, every DV novel is even better than the previous one making this the best yet…

Leine's decision to retire in small town Scivoloso, Italy may have to take a back seat when her past as an assassin threatens her and the townspeople she's grown to care for. I love how detailed the descriptions of the town and it's people are. Great books transport you into their world and I loved curling up to read this one.The author does a wonderful job of building the suspense and tension until the final showdown between herself and the townspeople against Roan Kadare and men sent by Italian mob boss Don Vitale. I was on the edge of my seat not knowing who would survive. Another great thriller by D V Berkom.

Leine Basso has decided to retire in a small idyllic town in Italy where she bought a bookshop, however, she cannot abandon her ways and the past has come to bite her back. Her life turns upside down when a young girl shows up at her doorstep late one night and she sees herself involved with the local thugs, the mob, and a ruthless killer that is part of her past and is set on getting revenge. A good plot, well-written, full of action, Terminal Threat is a must-read for those who love this genre.

Terminal Threat is book 13 in A Leine Basso Thriller by D V Berkom. I thought that this was a wild ride with a don't forget to breath book. Leine has retired and settled in Italy for peace and quite... until an old "friend" decided that Leine must die. I think that this author knows how to write a fast paced thriller with very good characters. I have read all of Leine's adventures and this just might be my favorite. I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.

Leine Basso is finally going to slow down, get out of her dangerous occupation, and open a Bookstore in a quiet town on the Mediterranean in Italy. All she needs now is for Santa to take early retirement and join her in this idyllic setting. There's just one problem with Leine's plan: someone has been taking protection money from businesses in town, and Leine doesn't like any kind of bully.

If you haven't read any of the previous books, Terminal Threat stands alone quite well. And if you haven't read any of the preceding adventures, you're missing some spectacular fun!

I've really enjoyed the latest books in this series. This one was an action-packed ride!

Leine moved to a small Italian town with plans to settle there and open a bookstore, and just enjoy some peace. After a local woman witnesses a murder and the culprits hunt for her, Leine does what she does best, and takes control of the situation. In doing so, she attracts the attention of some bad people.

I loved the way the whole town came together to help each other and defend their city. Leine was a force to be reckoned with here - her skills are amazing!

This was full of action and suspense, and was an enjoyable read. I look forward to reading more in the series!

Brilliant.

I loved it great story action packed and never a dull moment, the fun/action starts from the off when Gabriela witnesses the death of her boyfriend she finds safety from Ava (might not be her real name) and a whole series of events cascades into the ride of a life time.

Our Heroine Leine hope of retirement and escaping the life she know for the last forever years is in danger of falling apart. Well a few gun shots a few less villans and the pressure begins to build. Leines hope of saving a sleeping (but we'll and truly woken up) Italian seaside town brings new dangers and past memories.

The action is all the way through the characters are great, some former favourites some new and a odd former non favourite set up a excellent read and a thriller you will enjoy if this is your thing. I loved it and expect you will to. Highly recommend 👌🏻 👍🏻.

Leone wants to retire in a beautiful !little town and open a bookstore. She's made some really good friends with the locals. Santa is coming soon to stay, maybe for ever!
Unfortunately, her past catches up with her again, and the good friends she's made become caught up in a very dangerous way.I
Will she be able to stop what's happening before Santa arrives? Will the townspeople survive, will Leine survive this time?
As a!ways DV has written a fast paced, exciting thriller with so many facets, so many plates spinning. A Wonderful, superbly written book which will have you up late into the night...

Leine retired now to a small village in Italy.. A knock late at night changed that
A frighten young woman seen her boyfriend murdered, a moonlight night.
Leine had only met a few of the locals, and now asking Gabriela and then her family to trust her. A rackateer has moved in demanding money from the
local businesses.
A great story full of action with Leine. Her boyfriend is coming
to see her. Will she tell him, or will another place to retire be needed.

Scivoloso, Italy, certainly turned out to be less than the planned retirement Leine was hoping for.
Who would have thought planning to open a book store with a marvelous view off a cliff over the surging sea could be such a dangerous attraction for a murderous maniac with an insatiable urge for revenge.
Yes, escaping your past is never easy.
I stopped the body count at forty five. And those are of the bad guys.
It all started with a young girl having accidentally witnessed the murder of her boyfriend one night on the beach....
Author D.V.Berkom certainly pulled no stops in this latest episode of Leine's journey in life.
Of course, it also means you will be reminded thoroughly by some aching digits that you were doing some none stop reading too.
Enjoy.

Her retirement to a small village in Italy to run a bookstore is going off track, thanks to a murder and a distressed local girl.
Add in some mafia (Italian and Albainian) and you have a recipe for an action filled book.
