To be clear, I have read much in this book, but not every word. I have turned every page and looked at every bird and read so much great information. For me it is reference for birdwatching that I return home to look at. It is heavier than my Sibley Birds West, which is my backpack book. This one is so helpful because it is all photographs rather than illustrations. There is a page or two for each of the birds giving smaller photos to show flight and perching. Fabulous.
I'd rate this highly. Right now it's my go-to book for out of the Willamette Valley birding. Lots of bird pictures to help you instead of just one; great for younger birds and genders.
