USA Today Bestselling Author Caroline Fyffe was born in Waco, Texas, the first of many towns she would call home during her father's career with the US Air Force. A horse aficionado from an early age, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in communications from California State University-Chico before launching what would become a twenty-year career as an equine photographer. She began writing fiction to pass the time during long days in the show arena, channeling her love of horses and the Old West into a series of Western historicals. Her debut novel, Where the Wind Blows, won the Romance Writers of America's prestigious Golden Heart Award as well as the Wisconsin RWA's Write Touch Readers' Award. She and her husband have two grown sons and live in the Pacific Northwest.
I have to say although the I enjoyed the stories, I was having trouble with the constant change of the stories. I think I would have preferred different novellas instead. I was also disappointed in the way it finished. Which book continues on with YKnow and the story of Fanny and the others.
It was so fun to be back in Y Knot, with the McCutcheon family and friends. The story has moments of life and death danger, new beginnings, discovered family, and seeing so many characters from previous stories again. The pages will keep turning with new characters, new romances, changes in families, and discoveries. As with all of Ms. Caroline Fyffe’s stories, you become vested in the characters, their quirks, personalities, connections, angst, and those they love. The story brings all that and more.
Sheriff Brandon Crawford will take a nasty fall that poses more danger than just breaking his leg. It becomes a matter of life and death, getting him to a hospital with surgeons. Charity, her brothers, Matthew, Mark, and Luke, are all going together—and it is still touch and go.
Deputy Justin Wesley must keep the town and citizens of Y Knot protected with Brandon away. Now, a string of break-ins and thefts have him trying to discover who the culprit is. Doing his duty, he will also greet the stage and meet the newcomer to town, Miss Madison Plumb. Madison is on summer break from her women’s college where she plans to write a paper about the West, but that isn’t all she is in town for. She is hoping to uncover the secret of her birth.
The Heart of the Mountain is on a skeleton crew as Flood, and many of the ranch hands are taking cattle to Miles City. They have no knowledge of what is going on with Brandon, Charity, and several of the McCutcheon sons.
Once again, Poppy and Shad are planning to marry, but will an injury he had as a young man affect their future and having a family? There is a slow-simmering romance developing between Justin and Madison. As in any town, you have those who look down on others—and yes, that takes place, but then you have others who treat everyone with kindness, no matter what.
This is another wonderful story by this author. I love her stories and the characters she creates. There are two brothers who have big ranches, one is in Montana and the other in Texas. In Montana the sheriff has been terribly injured and his wife now and her many brothers take him by train to a hospital in Helena. The rest of the ranch hands have to go with the boss to take their cattle on a drive to Miles City to sell them. The trip on the train and the way they had to set up the train for traveling and supporting the sheriff as comfortable as possible with all his injuries is very hard. To top it all off the men are worried about their little sister as she is also pregnant but insisted, she went along as it was her husband they were transporting. This story also has a new comer to Ynot who is a beautiful young woman that the deputy is rapidly falling in love with. She is there to work on her college assignment and has all summer to do so. She is also looking for her mother who gave her up for adoption. This whole story is wrapped in worries, searching, love, and so much more. It is so good that it was hard to put down just to go to bed. You will also have a hard time to put it down, but if you love this authors stories you will keep reading until you can’t. Its so good.
It was so nice to return to Y Knot, Montana and reconnect with the McCutcheon family. It was like catching up with old friends and finding out how the family has expanded and hearing about all the ups and downs the family has encountered. We find out more about our beloved characters and meet a few new people. In this book Charity's husband, Brandon has fallen off a ladder and broken his leg. His injuries are much more serious than just his broken leg. The whole McCutcheon family bands together to try and save his life. In Brandon's absence, Justin steps in as acting sheriff and has to ferret out the thief who has been robbing local businesses. A new young lady, Madison Plumb, arrives in town and has all the young men in town falling over themselves. Madison is not there to find a husband though, she is on a mission. I loved this newest addition to the McCutcheon Family Series.
A fabulous reunion of the McCutcheon Family. Welcome back to Y Knot Montana and The Heart of the Mountain in book 12 Montana Surprise the new addition to the wonderful series of the McCutcheon family. The new character blended well with the previous character's and made a fabulous story. Madison arrives in town on spring break from college with the plans to write a book but secretly she is investigating the events of her birth. Caroline has a gift of story telling and her fans are glad she does. This book and this series will take you on a great adventure with loveable characters you will want to follow their lives to see have it develops. I highly recommend you read this book #12 and follow the grand adventures. If you hadn't read any of her books please treat yourself and start at book 1 and continue you will be entertained.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This new installment brings us updates of the Montana McCutcheons, while also introducing us to some new characters who seem like old friends by the end of the book! Miss Madison Plumb arrives in Y-Knot under the guise of doing research for a college paper. She catches the eye of Deputy Justin, who is filling in for an injured Sheriff Brandon. As the title suggests, Miss Plumb has a secret (and she’s not the only one!) Meanwhile the McCutcheon brothers have escorted their sister, Charity, and her husband, Sheriff Brandon, to Helena to be treated for his serious injury. Back in Y Knot, the mysteries continue with old acquaintances returning and someone taking advantage of the Sheriff being out of commission. The ending left me wanting more of the story! I hope that means that we will soon see Book #13 in the McCutcheon Series!
Another best seller!! I couldn’t put this one down. I always look forward to another Caroline Fyffe story and this one was one of the best yet. The stories entertwined together are perfection. Justin and Madison are so sweet. I love the progression of their relationship and all the hurdles they had to cross. The trust she puts in him when disclosing her real reason was beautiful. Her secrets bring an answer to questions I have had and I am so happy to finally know the answers!
This story brings about all the feels! The love and sweetness of a blossoming love, the fears of a favorite couple facing one of their hardest moments yet, a secret hidden for years about to be found out possibly ruining a young woman forever. Such a wonderful, wonderful book and I can’t wait for more!
As always, I love the McCutcheon family along with their friends and neighbors! Such a loving group! In Montana Surprise, I enjoyed getting to know some new characters while watching the lives unfold of the characters that I already know and love. Having said that, this book stands alone well. This is a blessing for me because I don't get the time I would like to go back and reread past books in a series like I would like to do. Watching Justin find ways to support Madison Plumb in her efforts was so sweet and really the best part of the story for me. I also enjoyed learning more about Luke's past. As always, I wished for more. So glad this series seems to be continuing on!
Another great book in the McCutcheon series. It is always nice to catch up on characters that you have grown fond of in the other books in the series and see what they have been up to since that last book. It’s nice to integrate new characters you also grow to love. I loved Justin’s character and Madison’s story had a special place in my heart. This author intertwines the lives and stories in this new book expertly. I didn’t want to stop reading because I wanted to see what was going to happen next. I can’t recommend this book enough. A little mystery, suspense and love in a great book set in Y-Knot Montana. I loved it and look forward to this author’s next book.
Flood and most of the ranch hands are delivering cattle to Miles City and aren't at home when Brandon Crawford falls off his roof and breaks his leg. The town doctor says he has peritonitis and must have emergency surgery in Helena. So, Charity and her three brothers, Luke, Mark, and Matt head to Helena with Brandon.
The town has a deputy taking care of it but a rash of robberies start to happen and without Brandon the deputy, Justin has to solve the crimes.
Branddon's first surgery doesn't seem to help him so he has to have a second one. Charity's dad shows up with a ranch hand to make sure Charity is okay and so that her brothers can go home to their families.
We're back in Y Knot Montana and the people of this small town still have surprises up their sleeves. Deputy Sherrif Justin Wesley is about to embark in his first real test as a sheriff and the keeper of the town. New surprises and revelations are instore for us in this new book. Secrets will be revealed, love will grow and our beloved characters will have to fight in a way they have never fought before. This book has everything and you will not be able to put it down. And you will never guess who comes back to stir trouble in Y Knot.
I love Carolyne Fife’s stories. I’ve read most of the books in this series. This story about Justin and Madison captured my interest from the start. There is a lot going on in the book as you can catch tidbits and updates of favorite past characters. The action and adventures of so many kept me on my toes but I was hooked and eager to read more. I had to know how it all worked out. Reading the other books in the series is not necessary to understand this story. Another great, sweet, no killings, story with a happy ending. I didn’t want the story to end, I wish there was a prologue.
Justin Wesley, deputy sheriff and son of an infamous Judge, takes on crime and safety of Y Knot during the absence of Sheriff Brandon Crawford as he recovers from what has become a deadly accident. While women gossip, people work and newcomers arrive in town, theft becomes more daring. I loved this storyline and so admired Madison Plumb as she makes her presence known and hearts flutter. It was a good feeling to follow the interactions of friends and family while desperate measures are taken to save lives. Thanks for a terrific read.
Book 12 of the McCutcheons is just as amazing as all the others that preceded it! This story has lots of twists and turns that even surprised me with all of the familiar faces you know and love (or dislike). Justin Wesley is having a dickins of a time with the people of Y Knot while Sheriff Brandon Crawford struggles with a broken leg and the aftermath. Come read book 12 of the McCutcheons and the residents of Y Knot. Bet you won't be able to put it down til the end! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Y Knot has a new Deputy Justin Wesley. Unfortunately keeping the citizens safe falls on Justin when Sheriff Brandon Crawford takes a nasty fall. While doing his duties Justin greets the stage and meets new comer Madison Plumb. Madison is in Y Knot for the summer to write a paper about the west. Madison also hopes to uncover the secret of her birth. I always love returning to Y Knot to visit old friends and meet new friends. 5 stars!
This book was so much fun to read. There was sooo much going on! (In a good way) if your a fan of this series, you won't be disappointed. If this series is new to you I suggest you start at the beginning(although you don't have to) because you want to really get to know these characters. At this point they are like family! Carolyn never disappoints! Can't wait for the next one!!
It's a return to the McCutcheon's & Y Knot! This book has it all clean romance, action, & romance. I loved the budding romance of Justin & Madison. Madison comes to town looking to hopefully figure out who her birth Mom is. Justin has taken over as town sheriff, while Brandon tries to heal from a nasty leg injury, & Charity is nearly due to have her baby! Oh my! Read it and follow along in the adventures of Y Knot! Loved it! I can't wait for the next one.
Madison Plumb arrives in the western town in search of her birth mother. She has a clue her mother might live in Y Knot, Montana. She did not plan on falling in love. Of course the McCutcheon family figures into part of the book with their own plot. One of my favorites of the series. The book can be read as a stand alone book. The series is excellent!
Madison visits Y Knot, MT on a mission to find her biological mother yet she doesn’t know her name or anything about her. She finds employment and continues her search. Justin, the deputy filling in for the injured sheriff, sets out to keep the town safe and prove his ability. Justin befriends Madison and once she confides in him, sets out to assist her in the search. Friendly feelings slowly turn to deeper ones which has Madison questioning whether she wants to return to Kentucky. Meanwhile, the sheriff, Brandon, takes a turn for the worse from his injuries. Charity plus brothers race to get him to a hospital in Helena. Luke sets out to find a medicine man from a local Indian tribe to help Brandon as he is not improving. Luke finds more than he bargained for on this trip. Lots going on in this continuation of the McCutcheon family of Montana. It is a great story.
This story is such an incredible journey from beginning to end! Filled with excitement, adventure, danger, suspense and definitely romance! Justin and Madison’s story has only just begun, hopefully more is coming! Great and enduring characters form this ever loving family!
I have so enjoyed this series and totally enjoyed this book. I enjoyed catching up with the McCutcheon family and the people of the town. I loved Madison and Justin’s story but this book was so much more. I wasn't ready for it to end and hope to read more in the near future. A captivating read.
Love it Love it. Would read it again. Some of the situations were heart wrenching I am sorry for this book to end. I need the remaining book NOW. I have each and every book of the McCutcheon Family and loved each one. Caroline Fyffe had so much imagination. I always am waiting for the next book. Hurry Thanks Caroline.
I loved every bit, but I hope you will continue with this story. I feel like we were left in suspense not knowing what happens to them. I really love that you brought all the different characters back in that we love so much. I hope another book will be out soon!!
Montana Surprise is a Great Story centered in Y Knot, Montana territory. It exemplifies the difficult life in a small town on the western frontier. Madison has traveled to Y Knot to find the woman who gave her life. She found so much more. Excellent story. You must read it.

I just finished the 12-book series and loved EVERY book! The stories are all about individuals and families, their morals, values, struggles and love the way people should live and conduct their lives by. The author managed to transport me into a beautiful place every time I picked up one of her books. Thank you!
Caroline has done it again. Each one just seems to get better and better. An awesome continuation of the McCutcheon Family. It has a little twist but as always has a happily ever after. I highly recommend reading the whole series if you have not yet. You will love them as I do.
This series has become one of my favorites! Romance without the gritty details... Swoon worthy if you ask me! The adventure, intrigue and family keep me in tender hooks for the next installment. Keep them coming, Mrs. Fyffe!
Caroline, this is one exciting and intriguing book. Madison and Justin was fantastic and some twists and turns that will surprise you. It is also a page turner.
I hate when I have to read the book after to find out all about the characters! The next book better not be about other people. I just devoured this book it was so good.
