New York Times bestselling author R.C. Ryan has written more than ninety fiction novels, both contemporary and historical. Quite an accomplishment for someone who, after her fifth child started school, gave herself the gift of an hour a day to follow her dream to become a writer.
The Lost, an anthology of stories by J.D. Robb, Mary Blayney, Patricia Gaffney, and R.C. Ryan writing as Ruth Ryan Langan was published in Fall 2009. Ms. Ryan’s story, “The Legacy,” is an exciting tale of intrigue and other-worldly adventure.
In a career spanning more than twenty years, Ms. Ryan has given dozens of radio, television, and print interviews across the country and Canada, and has been quoted in such diverse publications as the Wall Street Journal and Cosmopolitan. She has also appeared on CNN News, as well as Good Morning America.
Jake Conway is a veterinarian. Ever since he was a little boy on his grandfather’s ranch, he was always wanting to rescue and heal animals. Just like the time that Jake brought home a baby cougar. Now Jake is am adult and his love for animals is what makes him a great vet.
Meg Stanford returns to her home. She left when she was a little girl. For Meg coming back is no happy time. She is back for a week only to take care of her recent passing father’s affairs and then get back to Washington, D.C. However that was before she met Jake. Meg might be having a slight change in plans.
I am a sucker for a good cowboy story. I mean what woman does not like a good looking guy in a nice pair of denim jeans. Looking like he could sweep you off your feet and ride off into the sunset together. I am not just talking about the book cover!
Jake is the final book about the Conway brothers. It can be read as a stand alone novel. However, I bet that after you read this book you will want to go back and read the first two, Quinn and Josh. Jake is definitely a ladies man. He is charming, has a great smile, loves animals, is good with children, and always ready to help a lady in need. Jake and Meg shared nice chemistry together. I would rate the romance between then as about a 7 on a scale from 1 to 10. It was good but the romance scenes were more kissing and hints of more without going into too many details.
Jake by R.C Ryan This book is mostly about Jake Conway and his growing up on the ranch, his mother died and his father is raising all the kids. He's so caring about animals that he is a local vet now. On his way home from a call he plays his phone messages and travels to their next door neighbor's house, to see about the colt. Cory Stamford the 7 year old is caring for the colt that is lying down in the barn. Meg, flew in from DC, a half sister and the only relative left, she's a lawyer. Yancy up in the hills with the cattle has no clue of Porter Stamfords death yet. She hopes to be able to auction up the house, ranch, everything and be back in DC in a weeks time, bringing Cory with her. Love this series and the locale of Paintbrush and the previous books in the series. I feel like I know the characters and am brought up to date on what's going on with their lives. His idea to move them all to his ranch might help find out some information from Cory, get closer to Meg and help treat the colt better. Jake has a lot of admirers and they bake and deliver food to the family ranch. Love the banter among them all, wicked funny stuff. The mystery of the boys mother just disappearing still had them worrying and wanting to find her... Meg has mysteries also as the house is ransacked and her rental car tires slashed... After the funeral she learns many things and is able to smile for a bit. With the dog giving birth they are able to share in a good time together. She contemplates whether she can go along with her fathers wishes by continuing with the working ranch and raising Cory there and maybe joining the local law firm... But she's achieved so much in DC and would hate to just give that up...There is danger at the ranch with the break ins and she finds more of her fathers papers and goes through them to really find out what he was all about.. This is the 3rd book in the Wyoming Sky series by RC Ryan (Ruth Ryan Langan). While i liked the first two books in the series ok i was not really excited about either. That all changed when i started Jake. I kind of thought this one would get me. I liked Jake a lot in the previous books. Jake is a veterinarian and the youngest Conway. He was just 5 years old when his mother disappeared. His the nurturer in the family and a big flirt with women. He finds himself face to face with Meg Stanford when she comes home to bury her father and finds she has a 7 yr old half brother and a injured horse. Meg seems like a city slicker but in her heart she's still a ranchers daughter. This book has got some really good parts and some sad parts and a few that will bring you to tears i think. Poor Meg thought her dad forgot about her when she was 10 and her parents divorced and she left with her mother. Now she's back and torn about her feeling for her old home, her father and her new brother. Something going on though. Someone is trying to scare her off the ranch it seems. Jake being the protector he is steps up to the plate to protect Meg and her little brother Cory. There is a lot going on in this book. RC Ryan tells Jake's story but also cleans up some other secondary stories that have been going on through the previous two books. She wraps up what happened with Seraphine the Conway boys mother and also some romance with Jake's dad Cole. You just feel for the family once they finally find out what happened all those years ago. This was one of the best books i have read in a while. I laughed and i cried and i was drawn into the book right from the start.
The youngest in the family tends to be the toughest especially when you have two older brothers that love to torture you. Jake Conway grew into his own man and became not only a rancher like family but also a vet who provides great care and that extra animal sense from someone who understands them.
When Meg Standford returns home to pick up the pieces after her father’s death she never expected to find a seven year-old brother she knew nothing about. Now the quick turnaround time is dragging out into life altering steps for both her and her brother. Meg has a great legal career and has one thought to stay and one to go home. The problem is someone else wants her to go and trashing her home is a good way to scare her back there.
Jake comes to Meg’s rescue more than once and as the days turn to weeks he realizes this woman is more than just a passing fancy. Meg feels the warmth and affection of a large family and each day she thinks more about staying put and fulfilling the dreams she had as a child to be part of the land and raise a family surrounded by love.
If you want fun, romance, suspense, and some interesting characters in your book than R.C. Ryan is the writer for you.
It was attention grabbing and didn't let go until the very end. The first half was good but the second half was amazing! The character develeopement was superb and the plot was so complex, you could tell the author knows what they are doing. I knew who the bad guy was the whole time but even so it was very unpredictable it had me going "omg!!" the whole time. I really grew to like all the characters and that doesn't happen often. Jake wasn't the typical macho man rancher like how the male characters are often created to be in the western romances I read. I loved how the book wasn't hasty in the end, a lot of the time, the case is solved and happily ever after, but this wasn't rushed at all. Not just the case of the vandalizer was solved but also a cold case from 25 years ago.
I also think it's really cool each son had their own book.
I will definitely keep my eyes open for other books written by R.C. Ryan!!
Stuck without power for 6 hours and I only had this series on my laptop. I vaguely remembered Quinn's and Josh's story, so I picked Jake. And... meh. This was my least favorite of this series and I was determined to lower its rating upon reread until I realized it was already rated 3 stars and 2 stars doesn't feel like enough.
I like the plot, I like Jake and his family, and I liked Cory. I wasn't really a fan of Meg. I felt like she made the wrong decision way too many times. For such a brilliant lawyer, it was incongruous the way she didn't really think things through, even when she thought she was thinking them through. She was a big ole chicken, but she thought she was a tigress. I wasn't a fan.
Overall a decent story, but the previous two books are markedly better. Altogether a good series, though.
3.5* I am happy to note that Seraphine's disappearance is resolved. I wondered since her disappearance has played a roll in all 3 books. Now that's been mentioned, the rest of the story was pretty good. It held my attention. Of course, if someone had pressed Corey more, much of the drama could have been prevented. Especially since they *suspected* he knew something. This would have been a solid 4 star for me, but the lack of any talk about safer sex made me deduct 1/2 star. I expect some type of mention in a contemporary.
This is the third book in this series about three brothers who live in Wyoming. Jake Conway always was the gentle brother and he loved animals so it was no surprise that he became a veterinarian. He was called to a ranch next to his own to check upon a colt that had a bad leg but was confused when he caught sight of a beautiful red head instead of the old guy who used to live there. He had heard that Mr. Stanford had passed away but it seems that old man Stanford had a daughter who was a big shot lawyer in Washington D.C. besides his seven year old son. This is a story of Meg Stanford coming back home after all these years and realizes just how much she missed it and the country. Great read.
This is book three in the series and I will confess the first one I have read! I know, bad of me to read the end of the trilogy but that's what I've done and you know what, I'm OK with that. I loved this book so much, the characters, the dialogue, the glimpse into that way of life...the chemistry between Jake and Meg was great to read and the interaction between all family members wonderful. The story flowed well for me and you got more than you thought from it by the end. Jake has now entered my book boyfriend list 😍. I will definitely be reading this book again.
Veterinarian Jake Conway likes his free spirited life, working the ranch with his family and practicing his craft in the small town he grew up in. One evening he gets a message about an injured horse. Wanting only to head home after a long day, he heads to the next ranch over. He's surprised to find Meg Stanford, the daughter of the recently deceased ranch owner.
Meg was born in Paintbrush, but when her parents divorced, her mom took her away. She's come back to settle her father's estate, dispose of the ranch and get back to her life as lawyer in Washington D.C. She wasn't prepared to find the half brother she never knew she had. Nor is she prepared for Jake Conway. When a series of mysterious break ins at the ranch threaten Meg and Cory, Jake takes it upon himself to become their protector, a job he's ready to keep forever.
My usual reading preference tends to romantic suspense and paranormal romance, but lately I've been on a cowboy kick. I've found myself reading a bunch of R C Ryan's books. I'm a sucker for the protective instincts of a cowboy and the importance they place on family ties. Ms. Ryan doesn't do cookie cutter characters. Each of the brothers in the series has a distinct personality, sense of humor and code of honor. I read Josh (Jake's brother's story), which I really enjoyed. And when I read the teaser for Jake I knew that would be my next read. Now I plan to go back and read Quinn's story.
Jake is Conway brother # 3, the vet and youngest sibling. The loner next door dies and Daughter Meg comes home to discover a young brother she didn’t know she had and his ailing horse which brings Jake into the picture.
Someone is shadowing Meg and causing concern. While tensions rise Meg and Jake get closer. After a few crises they get their HEA. A law firm with their own private jet, way out of my league.
Jake Conway is the most eligible bachelor for miles around his small Wyoming town. But even handsome, sought-after veterinarians can be thrown for the loop, and Jake definitely is when he comes face-to-face with Meg Stanford.
As a successful Washington D.C. attorney, Meg knows how to roll with the punches. But even she can see that she’s in over her head when she comes to Wyoming to settle her estranged father’s estate. She has a young half-brother she never knew about, not to mention painful reminders of her past are lurking around every corner. The straw that breaks the camel’s back and sends Meg into Jake’s arms is a midnight break-in. Their desire for one another is impossible for either to deny, but it’s not long before Meg realizes that falling for Jake isn’t the biggest of her problems. The attempted break-in was only the first of many. It seems that someone doesn’t want Meg on her father’s ranch, and if she doesn’t figure out who’s trying to scare her off, things could turn deadly.
There are some books that are so charmingly written they make you feel warm and cozy as you read them. Jake is that kind of book for me. R.C. Ryan hooked me on her Wyoming Sky series with Jake and Meg’s story. I won’t lie — before I even finished Jake I was scouring the bookstores for the first two Wyoming Sky books, Quinn and Josh.
Jake is a sexy cowboy veterinarian whose soft touch with animals and children just made me melt. I know that sentence makes him sound like the stereotype of a perfect hero, but believe me, Jake is anything but a generic character. If he were real, I could imagine almost begrudging Meg capturing his heart, if she weren’t so likeable herself. Jake and Meg are both strong, intelligent protagonists who endeared themselves to me from the very beginning of Jake, drawing me into the story so completely that I did not want to put it down.
R.C. Ryan has a writing style that makes readers feel like they’re actually at the Stanford and Conway ranches. I loved being immersed in Meg and Jake’s world and I almost felt like I was a member of the Conway family. The Conways are a warm, generous group of people that I thoroughly enjoyed reading about. Even though I haven’t read the elder Conway brothers’ stories, I didn’t feel like I was missing anything. That being said, Jake did leave me desperately wanting to read Quinn and Josh.
A few mysteries add tension to Jake, making it a well-rounded story. Jake is one of those books that simply made me happy when I read it. I look forward to re-reading Meg and Jake’s book soon.
Drop dead gorgeous, country Veterinarian, Jake Conway has no issues with women. This youngest brother of three knows how to pour on the charm for quick results, but when he meets hot redheaded, high powered, city attorney, Meg Stanford, all bets are off and Jake begins to realize that this contradiction of a woman is getting under his skin.
Meg Stanford hasn't been back to Paintbrush, Wyoming since the day her mother took her and left her Dad, Rancher, Porter Stanford and never looked back, when she was 10. Meg grew up resenting her father, thinking that once she was gone from the ranch, she was no longer important to him. Now Porter has passed away and Meg has returned to settle his affairs which include the shocker that she has a young half brother.
Seven year old, Cory Stanford has been through so much in his short life. The untimely death of his young mother, death of his father and now meeting a sister who holds his life in the balance, have this young boy running scared.
Jake is summoned to the Stanford ranch to treat Cory's injured horse where he meets his neighbors for the first time since the Stanfords pretty much kept to themselves. He finds Corey an amiable but lost boy and his sister so confused about how to deal with it all. Meg is used to the fast life in Washington DC, where she is a successful trial attorney and when she meets Cory she has no idea how to get through to the boy she didn't even know existed. Jake knows somehow he's going to have Meg and that swagger of his totally has her thinking.
After a vandalism incident on the Stanford ranch Meg realizes that her easy in and out are not as easy as she had predicted. In addition, she didn't realize how much she missed the ranch, life there, and Jake could be the biggest reason she may be changing her tune about the going back to the fast paced lifestyle she once led. Jake Conway has been relationship resistant, especially after seeing his older brothers fall hard for their wives, could this redhead be the answer to his resistance? Will Meg put aside her animosity towards her father and become real family to Cory? All is answered in JAKE by R.C. RYAN.
I quite enjoyed this third book in R.C. Ryan's Wyoming Sky Series. Jake runs the gamut of emotions between the goings on with both the Conway clan and the Stanford siblings and everyone else in between. A nice message comes through that proves that just because you are not blood doesn't mean you won't be cared for, and success in the business world does not necessarily make one happy in their private lives. I hope you will give R.C. Ryan's JAKE a go. You will be happy you did!
Jake was a spur of the moment read for me. I found myself growing tired of paranormal romance and needing a break from it so I decided picking up an easy-going contemporary romance was the way to go.
After finishing Jake (which is 3rd in the series BTW) I found myself conflicted. I liked it but I didn't love it. It was an easy read, the characters well defined and the overall story was one I found to be entertaining. In a word...it was..."cute". This book (and most likely the series) would be something I would recommend for readers looking for a safe read. Something to pick up that was fun but not overly steamy. Something I would pick for my mother maybe. I tend to like my romances a bit more on the racier side.
Jake finds that after meeting Meg for the first time that he feels an unexplainable draw to the city woman who is just back in town to settle her late fathers estate. He feels the urge to help her in any way he can and the surge of feelings she evokes in him confuse him. But in his easy going cowboy manner he takes everything in stride and what unfurls is a romance filed with passion neither was expecting to find.
Though Meg has every intention of getting out of her hometown and back to her life in DC as quick as possible after meeting Jake she finds the pull to stay just a bit longer. Coupled with the fact that she just found out she has a little brother who needs her, Meg is torn between what she knows and what she is beginning to want.
Being a contemporary romance I found the last few chapters of the book a bit out of place since they are filled with suspense. Generally, even after a few attempts to scare Meg off her fathers property, I would have expected a tidy ending. Not so and Meg and Jake find themselves in the crosshairs of a person intent on causing them harm.
Even with that I found myself not over come with an emotional response. So I did like it but there was nothing that really set it apart from everything else I've read.
Engaging from the start, Jake is an altogether satisfying contemporary romance, especially if you like your heroes in cowboy boots.
First, I have to say that I haven’t read the other books in the series, and though I was aware as I read that there was backstory I was missing (mostly about a long missing family member), I never felt lost. Jake very strongly stands on its own, though I have every intention of going back and reading the others now.
Our hero, Jake, was just swoonworthy. Hunky, thoughtful, caring, insightful … oh, I definitely fell just as much in love with him as Meg ends up doing. He’s not perfect, he certainly has flaws, but they’re easily overlooked when he helps a dog have her puppies, cares for an ill horse or takes a small, lost boy under his wing.
Meg starts out a bit harsh, but it’s understandable from the position she finds herself forced into. She’s a little lost, sad and angry and finds herself bother sister and surrogate mother to a brother she didn’t know she had when her estranged father dies.
The large secondary cast of characters is just as memorable. I loved Jake’s family and wish I could have been there for a hearty meal at least once. They’re fun, real, loud and crazy — just the way I like family. So well done!
The romance is just as touching, with plenty of smoldering tension throughout. Jake is hot, hot, hot and how Meg was able to resist for so long, I have no idea.
While they mystery may not have been as strong as the rest, I honestly didn’t care. I was so completely enthralled with the superb characters, I would have continued reading no matter what.
If you’re looking for a romance with a sexy, sweet cowboy who loves his family, animals and his woman — who happens to be an intelligent, competent feisty thing, and if you’re fond of books that have large casts of well drawn characters, I highly recommend Jake. It was one of the most enjoyable books I’ve read in a long time.

I have heard good things about R.C. Ryan’s work, so when I was given an opportunity to read Jake, I jumped on the chance. If you have read some of my other reviews you know I love a good western romance and I love family series. I got double my joy reading this book. Now that I have read something by R.C. Ryan I will be looking for more of her work.
Jake, is book number three in the Wyoming Sky series. I have not read the other two in the series and I didn’t feel like I was missing out on any major details that interfered with my enjoyment of reading this book. I would however enjoy reading the other two in the series now that I know how fabulous this story was.
Meg Stanford came home to her father’s ranch after his death. I really liked Meg, she is a strong woman that thinks she has life under control. That is until she arrives to take care of her father’s estate and finds not only does she have a ranch with everything that entails to take care, but she has a half brother, Cory she never knew about. Their relationship is strained to start with.
Then there is Jake, the handsome cowboy veterinarian from the ranch next door. Not only is Jake quite handsome but he also has a good heart and is kind. No wonder Meg falls for him pretty quickly. I loved reading Meg & Jake’s story.
This is another one of those books that is full of a wonderful romance but also some really nice family relationships as well. I enjoyed watching Meg and Cory bond as they get to know each other and can share some memories of their father.
There is also a some mystery element to the story and I love a good mystery! There was plenty of drama to keep me on the edge of my seat while I was reading this book. If you enjoy western romances with some mystery thrown in I think you will like this book. You also get the family relationships and values that I found to be a wonderful bonus to the story.
Jake is the third and final book in RC Ryan’s Wyoming Sky trilogy, and I have to say it is my absolute favorite! I laughed, cried, and loved along with these characters!
Of Cole Conway’s three boys Jake is the most fun and soft hearted of the bunch. They were all young when there mom disappeared, but Jake was the baby of the family. From childhood he had a soft spot for hurt animals, so it was no surprise when he became a vet. Now he is home to practice medicine and help run his family ranch, but he also has charm just dripping off his smile. He has ladies of all ages under his spell, but is brought to his knees by his new redheaded neighbor.
Meg Stanford thought she was done with Wyoming. When her estranged father dies suddenly she has to come home to deal with not only his ranch, but the seven year old half brother she knew nothing about. In the process of her grief she finds out that the things she was told about her father may not be true, and he isn’t the cold heartless man she thought he was. On top of all that though she has to deal with someone breaking into her father’s house and vandalizing her rental car, but she isn’t alone. Jake and his family step in to help her and Cory. But can she resist the attraction of the sexy vet?
This was a perfect way to wrap up the trilogy! I fell hard for Jake!! He is such a sweet heart! He goes as far as to stay in his truck all night to protect Meg, when she wants to tough it out at home alone. I love that we get the answer to the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Seraphine. This is a really great trilogy! If you love Linda Leal Miller then you will absolutely love RC Ryan’s writing style!! Hope y’all love this book and series as much as I have.
Jake is the 3rd book in the Wyoming Sky series by R.C. Ryan and quite possibly my favorite. I've had this book for quite a while and just never could get to it. I'm so sorry it took me so long.
Meg Stanford thought her life was all figured out. When she was 8-years-old her mom left her dad and moved away. The old man apparently never wanted her since he never fought for her. She set out to make the best life she could as the accomplished, polished city girl that her mom always wanted. Sadly, her mom and step-dad are gone and she is now heading back to Wyoming to pack up the ranch that belonged to the father she thought she has gotten over. Meg quickly learns that everything she had thought of her father couldn't have been less true, she learns of a brother she didn't even know and she learns that she can lose her heart to a cowboy.
Jake Conway is the last of the Conway boys to remain single and he's perfectly happy with his unattached status. When he gets a call about a sick horse he is stunned at the punch he feels when he sees the beautiful young attorney anxiously waiting for the veterinarian she called. He's immediately pulled into her world by several strange events, including break-ins, a scared, father-less little boy and a lame horse. He feels the need to protect Meg and comfort her, and oh so much more!
I love the Conway family and feel for them with all that they've endured. This, being the last of the series, wraps up the mystery surrounding this family and leaves everyone with the closure they've needed.

There are some books that are so charmingly written they make you feel warm and cozy as you read them.
Jake is a sexy cowboy veterinarian whose soft touch with animals and children just made me melt. I know that sentence makes him sound like the stereotype of a perfect hero, but believe me, Jake is anything but. If he were real, I could imagine almost begrudging Meg for capturing his heart, If she weren’t so likeable herself. Jake and Meg are both strong, intelligent people who drew me into the story so completely that I couldn’t put down.
R.C. Ryan has a writing style that makes readers feel like they’re actually at there. I loved being immersed in Meg and Jake’s world and I almost felt as though I was a member of the family. The Conways are a warm, generous group of people that I thoroughly enjoyed reading about.
It's the final chapter of the Conway family and we'll finally learn, at the same time as them, what really happened to their mother twenty years ago.
But before that, it's Jake's turn to fall in love and find his one and only. Jake, the town veterinarian, who when he was just a pup himself was already looking after and dressing the wounds of animals, wild or not. Add to that a killer smile, easy charm and a sense of humor, it's no wonder he's a favorite with the ladies, old or not.
Meg have a lot on her plate since the death of her father, a man she never saw again nor talked to since twenty years ago (ever since her parents divorced and her mother decided to quit for a big city). It was so heartbreaking when she discovered some letters that made her understand what she lost and that she can't never go back and change the situation with her father. Back in Wyoming to auction her father's home, ranch and herd, she learn she have a seven years old half-brother and find herself having to take care of him from now on. She meet the hero when she call him to ask him to examine Cory's horse who's lame.
It was rather repetitive, with the heroine being in danger and the Conway family sheltering her and her little brother, just like the others books in the series. But I became attached to this household so it was still a fun time. The best part of the book was seeing how Meg was dealing with the new elements of her life and how her and Cory learned to care for each others. And also how Jake was understanding and patient with the little boy.
I would actually give this book 2.5 stars, it is a well-written basic romance novel. City slicker lawyer comes to Wyoming to settle her estranged father's estate, meets super charming sexy cowboy and finds out she has a half-brother. This throws a wrench into her plans to get rid of the ranch and be back at her law firm in a week.
After Meg arrives at her father's ranch, she finds a little boy who won't talk to her and vandalism all over the ranch. Ms. Ryan does a good job taking a strong female character and keeping her strong but letting her show that even the strongest among us can be thrown for an emotional loop when we least expect it. Jake Conway, the handsome veterinarian, who lives on the next ranch over, comes over to take care of an injured colt and sparks ignite.
Personally I think it's a little corny to have people react like they touched a live electrical wire when they touch "the one" for the first time, but it's a standard line in romance novels. There are only a few clichéd moments in the book. The writing was good and easy to read; the dialog flowed and sounded real. I enjoyed the book, it was a nice break from murder mysteries.
If you like romance novels, I think you will like R.C. Ryan's books. "Jake" is the third in the Wyoming Sky trilogy following his brothers "Quinn" and "Josh".
In the book Jake, Meg Stanford returns to Wyoming following her father's death. She is suprised with the existence of a younger brother and faces some difficulties when her father's house is vandalized. Jake Conway lives on a nearby spread and is a veterinarian. Sparks fly when the meet but Meg has a life waiting for her in Washington D.C. as a high powered attorney.
This book was hard to rate. It had some good qualities but aspects of it felt contrived and forced. Almost like on The Truman Show where the supporting characters in the town appear to have lives that interact with the main character but as soon as you look harder you see through their veneer and they only exist when the main character sees them. As such, the credibility of the plot became shaky and prevented a reader's absorption into the story which is a big factor in how I rate. When I read a book I want to be transported to the story's setting and feel like I lived through their experiences, good or bad. That did not happen with this book; I felt the author had a plot in mind and made the characters fit rather than allow the characters to drive the plot.
I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.
This is the third book in the trilogy about the Conway brothers. Jake is the youngest and is a veterinarian. He loves life and is a flirt and takes in all strays. When the neighbor dies and his estranged daughter comes back to settle his estate she finds a seven year old half brother she doesn't know she has. Meg is a high-powered lawyer from Washington D.C. and had only planned to come back for a week to settle her father's estate. She finds more in the way of the handsome neighbor,Jake, who comes to her rescue more than once and trying to find a relationship with her little brother. Then someone is trying to scare her away from the ranch and she finds a safe haven with her neighbors the Conway's. This ranch family has been around forever and is always ready to help. When Meg's brother Cory is kidnapped the Conway's along with the state police and some private investigators come in to help. You'll want to read the book to find out what happens and to find out the mystery that has being going on through all three books about what happened to the boy's Mother is finally solved. I loved this trilogy and hope R.C. Ryan comes up with another one soon.
First I have to acknowledge that I won this as a Goodreads giveaway. Now, I'm not usually a cowboy kind of girl, but what I wouldn't give for one just like Jake. R.C.Ryans made me fall head over heals for a cowboy of my own. I love this book so much that I place her other two books Quinn and Josh (Jake's older brothers) high on my list of must reads and next buys list. The family dynamics and the Wyoming life style make you wish for a life such as theirs. Because of giveaways like these I have the chance to win books and experience new Authors whom I otherwise would not have likely bought. Now, that I have had a taste of her writing style and what she has to offer I'm already addicted and eager to see what the older brothers have to offer (if anything like their baby brother, I can't wait to get started). So to sum up .....excellent book on a scale on 1 to 10 (10 being excellent) this book is a ten full of hot cowboys, suspense, great scenery and family you want to be a part of.
Not only have I added Jake to my library shelves but R.C. Ryan to my list of authors I want to read again. The characters were wonderfully developed and seemed as real people in a rural community. The strong main character and yet created with moral, love and sincerity for others around him. The plot consists of conflicts and happenings that are so smoothly intertwined you can’t put the book down. At the end you wish for the characters to live on and stay a part of your world. Excellent writing. This writing had mystery, conflict, romance and family strength. The only distraction was the book revolved totally around Jake and there should have been more parts where the other characters lived without Jake being right there on the scene. I did receive this book via goodreads and enjoy each and every word and gladly add it to my library.
I received this book as a First Reads winner from Goodreads. This is book 3 in the Wyoming Sky series. It's the story of Jake Conway, a veterinarian and rancher, who falls in love with Meg, who has come back to Wyoming after her father dies. Each of the Wyoming Sky books has a mystery involved. In this case, someone is breaking into Meg's ranch at night and no one knows who it could be or why. Also in this book is the resolution of the mystery (which spans all three books)of what happened to the Conway boys Mom, Seraphine, who disappeared when the boys were young. The story moves along quickly, the characters feel like people you'd like to know, and the setting in the Grand Teton mountains of Wyoming is perfect. This is a nice escape book for when you want to read a story where everything works out in the end.
This was a great ending to a really good series. I thought the book slowed a little in the middle but all in all it was a really good book. Meg and Jake had great chemistry. They both had interesting life stories and great heartache to overcome. I fell in love with Cory Meg's little brother who thought he had to carry a scary world of trouble on his 7 year old shoulders. As in the books before you get to see the loving interaction of the Conway family and friends. I guard entry you will love all of them. This is a story of putting past hurts to rest and closure to open wound's and finding future full of love and happiness. I highly recommend this series and I'm looking forward to R. C. Ryan's next books.
